I ordered a calzone with NO ricotta cheese which normally is included and part of a calzone. I was sharing this with someone who loves ricotta cheese. When I picked up my order I asked for just a side scoop of ricotta cheese and explained why. The young girl at the register didn't know what to do. Finally they get the manager or whoever was in charge this day and he told her to charge me $2.00. I told the manager that I asked for no ricotta cheese in the calzone but just on the side and explained again to him. He simply walked away! I was like you are charging me $2.00 for a tiny scoop of ricotta cheese when it wasn't in the calzone??? I did not ask for "extra" ricotta cheese. If I did, then the extra charge is justifiable. The calzone and the other items I ordered were very good but I have to say, it put a very bad taste in my mouth. I apologized to the two girls at the register that I would have preferred to have put that $2.00 in the tip jug but was so angry. I know it was not their fault but I said it loud enough hoping the manager heard me. What I didn't expect was a full lineup of elevated, abundant, and reasonably priced dinner specials that turned my quick stop into a full-on feast. This place is absolutely not just a pizzeria. I started with the stuffed zucchini appetizer--so fresh and flavorful--and the pork osso buco, which was tender, comforting, and honestly restaurant-quality. From there I tasted the Tuscan haddock, the chicken balsamico, and the pappardelle... every single dish was delicious. Portions are generous too, so come hungry. I left stuffed in the best way. The bar pie? Amazing. Thin, crispy, full of flavor--exactly the kind of pie that deserves attention. Dave Portnoy, you need to get down to Matawan for this one. Dibari's has a nice old school rustic pizzeria charm to it. However, the ambiance doesn't necessarily live up to the quality of food. I expected more as the pizza was good not great. Their plain slice is a decent slice that I would be happy eating if I lived in a small town. Decent doesn't cut it in these parts of the woods. The grandma slices were okay but I preferred the plain. The chicken padrino hero was good. Who doesn't like a chicken cutlet sandwich on soft bread? Dibari's is a decent spot and if you are in or near the shopping center you will be treated to a decent meal. read more

Has signed up for online ordering which comes with regular coupons or discount offers via email / text messages. I received a text and email today with coupon code for 10% off. Clicked on link but had trouble getting website to load (error message merit requesting I try again l). Finally got it to load after 10 minutes or so and entered my order. Entered the coupon code but received message indicating coupon was already used. Called DiBari's and young lady who answered told me it is probably an expired coupon. I advised her it was received via text today. She told me She told me I could not order and get the 10% discount by phone and to try again via online ordering. She also indicated she really doesn't know anything about how the online ordering works but that I should try again. I advised told that I have steady direct about 30min trying to place an order on line that normally would have taken less than 1 minute over the phone. I asked if she could take my order over the phone and I would give her the 10% code # but she advised that she couldn't she'd that I needed to try online again. Advised her I would not be doing that and call ended. Had only just started going back to this pizzeria restaurant as my wife liked the pasta with bolognese as previously had past similar issues with their discount program as well as service issues when dining in. I came across this pizza place while searching for places to try online. The images I saw looked so good, that I had to try it. And I only live a few minutes away. My first visit, I tried a bunch of different slices. They were all so good. Amazing actually. I went with a classic plain, a Buffalo Chicken Slice, and grandma slices. Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed that Buffalo Slice. The sauce and chicken just worked so well together. On my second visit, I orderd a full pie of vodka grandma with sausage; as well as a chicken parm hero. The vodka grandma is now my new favorite here. I loved everything about that pie. Plus with the added sausage on it, it was so delicious. So flavorful and crispy crust. I'm giving this review two stars because we've visited DiBari's many times and always enjoyed the food. This is why I'm having a really hard time with my most recent meal. We ordered takeout last Friday night. A pie (always decent) and a meatball sub. The sub was without a doubt one of the most HORRIFIC things I have ever eaten. The bread was dry, but the meatballs were nothing but breadcrumbs. It was like eating sawdust! Absolutely ZERO taste. Just dry, tasteless garbage. I had heard about DiBari's from the All About Matawan page, where it is always a friendly debate about the best pizza joint in town. We finally gave this place a chance one night when I had a craving for a sub. We ordered two different subs, mozzarella sticks and my fiancé wanted to try a calzone. The subs options were one size, the young lady on the phone said 10 Inches. The menu also stated they are made with boars head (yum!). The price was great value for the size. See pictures. The subs were delicious: perfect ratio of meat to cheese to veg. Also the mayo/ o&v were great as well. It had a lot of salt pepper and oregano which next time I'll ask to hold (preference). Fiancé loved the calzone- it was "personal size" but it was huge! Had to be about a foot long. Second time ordering we went with dinners. I had a craving for carbonara. It was delicious, with peas, sweet onions and pancetta. I wish the pancetta was diced (as it is classically) as it would be easier to eat, rather that trying to chase around sliced bacony looking things. Fiancé had chicken parm. He loved the chicken but said the capellini was over done and he didn't love the sauce. We also got garlic knots (6 for 1.95!) and they were very good. Crispy and a little greasy on the bottom (good greasy! Lol) and not dry on top. First time ordering i called and ordered and it was seamless. Second time I ordered online which was easy and concise. They also allow you to "track" your order, which is cool because once the driver leaves you can see they are on the way. I also saw that once you order you accrue points in their loyalty club of some sort which can lead to coupons- which hey! Awesome :) Great value for great food. My dad ordered the veal piccata, which he raves about. The veal was very tender and the sauce was delicious, and also comes with veggies or pasta and bread. I had a Mediterranean salad with chicken, that had loads of toppings and the small probably would have been fine (portion wise). My mom ordered Verde. And that was just the bomb. Terrible. Have now ordered the Caprese wrap 3 times and every time it comes wrong. Every single time the wrap is missing something, when it only has 3 ingredients to begin with. Two times it has arrived just roasted red peppers and lettuce and tonight only Mozzarella and peppers. If a place isn't capable of preparing a wrap with minimal ingredients correctly, none of which are cooked then I'm not sure they have any business calling themselves a restaurant. Not to mention its a soggy mess. The amount of money I have wasted giving this place a chance is a real shame.
