Ordered an XL pizza prosciutto through UberEats. It arrived cold, which I can accept might have been an UberEats problem, although the box wasn't even closed let alone sealed, so it doesn't seem like things got off to a good start. Once I got to the pizza, I saw large portions of the crust completely uncovered, no spinach on the pizza, and the pizza that was supposed to be a 16" pizza was barely over 13" across. So yeah, basically everything was wrong. I was still hungry, so I went to reheat the pizza hoping to salvage it. When I picked the pizza up out of the box, the congealed glob of cheese and prosciutto that was just in the middle of the pizza instead of being spread across the whole pie slipped right off, the soggy and greasy crust gave out, and I ended up with some non-descript casserole of dough, cheese, and prosciutto. I always get my pizza delivery here but over the last few months, quality has become questionable. First, I figured out if you get pizza during the week, except it luke warm. I use my oven or air fryer to get it warm. There isn't much taste unless you get the meat pizzas. Just got a vegetarian with red sauce and it is bland as can be. I asked for extra sauce but it was barely noticeable either. I used hot sauce to make it edible. BUT, they do make good pizzas, it's just not consistent. Delivery guys are good though. Check your order if you pick it up....On a non-busy night, they managed to not include side buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing on an order of 20 wings. I was a little hesitant to order because these reviews are so hit or miss, but I had a hit! YUM! I ordered online and got an estimate for 45-an hour, which I think is pretty standard for ordering food online. Instead, my pizza arrived in like half an hour - super fast! It was very hot and extremely delicious. Great crust, and I ordered pineapple and jalapeno, which is not the most common combo, so I was glad it was available. It was pretty expensive for each topping, so I won't be ordering regularly, but I wish I could! Oh, also got a Greek salad, which was pretty good too. Pizza delivery is like Star Wars. There are great pizza places (Jedi) that have awesome ingredients, interesting options, a no-nonsense approach, and reasonable prices. They use the Force (read: pizza) for good, not evil, and are the defenders of order and justice in the galaxy. Then there are the Sith lords--Dominos and Pizza Hut (always two there are, a master and an apprentice). They appeal to the Dark Side of poor nutrition and bad taste by offering an easy road to great power through low prices and brainless convenience. Angelico is a Jedi in this epic struggle. Their options are good (prosciutto and chicken pesto, to name two), and I love the online ordering and fast delivery. However, their prices are very high (came to about $40 for two mediums!), and as far as the pizza itself is concerned, the toppings are a bit light, and the crust is quite thick and overwhelms the rest. The word 'bready' comes to mind. There is a prophesy in Silver Spring that there will be a Chosen One who will destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. Angelico is clearly a Jedi, but not the Chosen One. read more

Instead of a traditional review, I'd like to share an e-mail that I sent to the management of Angelico almost a month ago. I still haven't received a reply: Hello - I wanted to write about a problem that I had last night with one of your drivers. I ordered my meal from Angelico on Seamless and included a tip with my payment. When the driver got to my building, he approached the door and immediately asked me for a tip. First of all - even if I hadn't ALREADY tipped online- this would be extremely rude. But since I had already given him a tip, this just didn't make sense. He actually would not hand me my pizza - that I had already paid for - without receiving an additional cash tip. The worst part of all this is that this is not even the first time this has happened. My fiance ordered from you several weeks ago and the same driver came to our home. Like me, he had already given a tip. He actually told him that he would not give him an additional tip because he had already tipped online. Your driver proceeded to step into the front door so that my fiance couldn't close it and get away. After this initial incident, we should have notified you, but I guess we forgot. This has made me very uncomfortable and hesitant to order from Angelico. I'd hate to think that during a future visit, this person would enter my home in order to obtain a tip which was already paid. Clearly this driver is trying to game the system and make extra cash by coercing customers into tipping him OR the person cashing out your online orders is keeping the tips for themselves. I strongly suggest that you handle this issue, as it could have a bad impact on your business. At least make it known to your drivers that people who order through Seamless have already given a gratuity in advance. ***** Not only was I shocked by the initial incident with the driver, I was even more upset that no one responded to my message when I brought it to their attention. Angelico has very good pizza but the customer service is awful and has driven me back to ordering from big chain restaurants like Domino's and Papa John's. Angelico just opened a new location in the Shepard Park area of DC which before lacked many good pizza options. My wife and I ordered two medium pizzas for delivery, a Supremo and a Chicken Pesto. We looked at other reviews for other locations and ordered it well done (which you can even specify in the online ordering form) because some have said that it comes underdone otherwise. With the well done option the pizza was perfect, the crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The toppings were fresh, cheese tasty and sauce good. It didn't blow us away but it was worth getting (which can't be said for our other pizza experiences in this area). And Delivery was very fast! The only downside is it is a bit pricier than your typical chain pizza place but we found it well worth it. read more

I placed an order online Jan 11. Yes, today. That's how annoyed I am. Received a call from Lisa all huffy less than 10 minutes later asking if I placed an order. I had. I wanted to sub red pepper sauce. She said they didn't have red pepper sauce. I told her it was an option online, but she acted like I chose it out of thin air just to be a jerk. She told me that all the stores don't have or make the same thing. Um...great? Except, how would I know that when I'm at home and not in the store making the sauces? I told her that a better response would have been, "I'm sorry, we don't have that at this location. Would you like something else?" I got even more attitude when she asked what I wanted her to do. Really? It's not that serious, just use the normal sauce. What do I get? More huff as she tells me THAT'S marinara. Well, I'm not expecting red pepper sauce anymore, so who cares? I'm ordering a friggin calzone online. I'm clearly not THAT picky. Now, I can appreciate someone calling to prevent a mistake. We got a flier from Angelico's in the mail and decided to give it a try. The pizza is pretty darn good for take out, the salads are incredibly fresh with good ingredients, and the chicken wings are EXCELLENT. Whenever my husband and I order pizza delivery we definitely only get Angelico's. Wow, just straight up wow. I am a sometimes vegetarian and like to bemoan the fact there there are not really any places to order something 'good' for delivery. There went that hobby. Ordering online was easy, and most impressive. When I put in each sandwich it gave me tons of options for toppings I wanted to remove add or change. Not just little toppings, it looked like you could basically customize the sandwich with anything they had. They have a ton of really good vegetarian options. The spinach artichoke sandwich was amazing, and what I had of the Italian was some of the best I have had... most definitely the best delivery sandwich I have ever had. I placed my order online and figured that I would have some time to do some stuff around the house before the food got here. After all, whenever I order from someplace here its 40-50 minutes. Big deal, I just accept it. Less than twenty minutes later there was a ring at my doorbell, yes an actual ring. Not a phone call from the delivery person saying they could not find the place and where is it, but a successful delivery without needing me to hand hold them here. In conclusion. I have been to this pizzeria a few times now.....though ironically, never for pizza. I have to admit I'm loyal to Ledo's which is a block away. But, I can comment on their sandwich game...and it's solid! I tend to order their Italian feast sandwich, but have had the veggie too. The food has always been ready super fast, and they have good condiments: pesto, sundried tomato mayo, etc. What I like best about this place though is the marketing and service. It's just a tiny spot, best for takeout or delivery, but they are always chatty. They always ask if I live in the area, introduce themselves, they've thrown in free coke zeros, given me menus ("hey we have new coupons!")...and they honor the yelp coupon no issue. And it seems like every 6 months like clockwork I have a new menu delivered to my house. Honestly, I would probably have never visited this place, but they seem to genuinely want my business, which I find to be rare with pizza/sandwich places. This last visit, I tried the online ordering for the first time. It was a snap and allowed me to really customize (i.e. Even pull down options for how much mayo I wanted - wow). Ok, so I clearly ordered the wrong pizza. After reading all of the 4 and 5 star reviews, I knew that I'd hit the pizza jackpot. I ordered the spinach and artichoke with mushrooms and feta. Sounds delish, right?? Well, I learned that descriptions can be misleading. It had virtually no flavor at all. Like, not even salt. The crust was just basic---neither unique nor delicious. The ingredients were there----they just had no seasoning. I should add that my partner had pepperoni added to hers and she said that it was good but that the pepperoni was the "star" and the other ingredients were just in the background. A friend who got the meat classic said that his was tasty. So perhaps it's simply that this is a great pizza place if you eat meat. If you don't, look elsewhere. read more

The garlic chicken wings were moist on the inside, but the skin was definitely burned. All I could taste was the burn. The spinach feta triangles are okay. Perhaps an acquired taste. The Italian Feast Sandwich was absolutely delicious! It's all about the bread, which is wonderful! I will patronize this establishment again. One star doesn't reflect the quality of the food. It merely reflects the service I received today. So, I've been ordering from Angelico's for about four years. When I call, I don't have to give my address because it's filed in the system with my number. I called today and it was pretty obvious that I was speaking to someone who didn't handle the phones regularly, but she was nice. When I gave my phone number, it was no longer filed in the system. Not sure what that was about. When I gave the address, her driver said that I was 3 miles away, putting me outside the delivery area. Their delivery radius is 2 miles and I live 1.9 miles away which is why I've received delivery service for 4+ years. I don't like the fact that the driver was too lazy to make this delivery and just blatantly lied to get out of doing so. I've been a loyal customer for years, but I'll have to find a new spot. I should have known better than to have ordered Greek food from an Italian spot. The gyro (yeero) was bad. The red onion should have soaked in water or vinegar. It coated my palate. The meat was hardly lamb. I hope it was beef. And had little flavor onto itself. The pita was a bit chewy. The sauce could barely be called tzatziki. Also I got a diet ginger ale. I didn't order it. When I order delivery for lunch, I depend upon receiving a reasonably accurate wait/delivery time. But since things happen and restaurants can get busy, I accept that there needs to be some flexibility on my part. What I don't expect is waiting almost 90 minutes for a very simple order that was estimated to arrive in 45 minutes. I do expect that when I call, I'm not placed on hold each time. I had to call several times. The first time it went straight to hold music, and I waited about 3 minutes. I called back another time and was asked if I could hold for a brief moment, which I did, for about 2 minutes. I called again, and was asked if I could hold, to which I said, "no" and that I was just looking for an ETA. The gentleman who answered said they were in the middle of an order, and then put me on hold anyway. I hung up. The same gentleman did call me back and apologize. He said my order would arrive in about 10 minutes because the driver had just left. I ordered this at 12:30p. Should have arrived at 1:15, or somewhere around. It is now 1:50p and I am STILL waiting. I will not get to eat it until later, at this point, if I even get it at all. Will never order from here again. Please stop placing your delivery menus on our door. Y'all don't actually deliver! UPDATE: At 2:00p, I had to call the 800 number to cancel the order. Just so you know, there is that option on the bottom of the online confirmation you receive for your order. Great hand tossed pizza, perfectly cooked and delivered quickly. We also ordered wings, which were delicious and large, the breadsticks hit the spot and the sandwiches are filled with fresh ingredients. We were visiting friends and wish we had a place in our neighborhood that was so good! The driver also called to ask if we wanted delivery to the front or side door and was super friendly. Good pizza BUT....if you order anything besides the regular tomato sauce your order will be WRONG. This spot is my local pizza joint and my son absolutely loves the pizza with white garlic sauce. In fact, we order it at least once a month. However, this summer has taken me off their customer list. I've ordered an xl pizza 5 times and each time I went to pick up the pizza, it had red sauce. 5 TIMES!! At one point the cashier blamed the cook who she said they planned to fire and just 2 weeks later same thing. The manager offered another apology and offered a free pizza and I passed (I cannot eat a pizza after insulting your ordering system). My husband said we should give this place sever stars. He described it as the best carryout he's ever had. We received a flier in the mail from this place a while ago and I had filed it away in a drawer. I wanted something healthy and he wanted pizza. I ended up with a Greek salad. My husband wanted the Italian calzone. After reading Vanessa G's review, he also needed the wings. When my husband looked at his plate-a calzone the size of his head and chicken wings-- he said that this might be his dream meal. And then he took a bite and it was confirmed. There's a carry out called Tommy's in a lake community in North Carolina that we visit every summer. Tommy's calzone is the calzone to which we compare all other calzones.The others never measure up. Tommy's calzone is not only delicious, but it brings all of the happy memories of summer vacation, boat rides, drinking games, and late nights with good friends. We are chasing the dragon. No other calzone has ever compared to Tommy's. This one did. Tommy's is usually the clear winner. Not tonight. The wings and the salad were good too. Service was prompt and friendly. I wanted to order using the yelp app, but could only avail the check in offer if I ordered over the phone. So I did. The man taking the order was nice and I had no trouble ordering. I made the worst, dyslexic mistake and sent the delivery guy to the wrong house. I'm not sure how long he was waiting but what surprised me was that no one called me to ask for directions. I felt so bad! So, I finally got my order after an hour -totally my fault. I got the chicken calzone, the chicken wings and tiramisu cake. The calzone is HUGE and it's very heavy food. One calzone can last one person an entire weekend. The taste was good. Nothing exemplary. The dough was denser than I liked and the sauce seemed a bit watered down, but the overall taste was good. I liked the chicken wings the best. Great taste, juicy and came with a choice of ranch or blu cheese dressing. The tiramisu was better than I expected. It wasn't too sweet, which was nice. I also got a coke free with my order. Unfortunately the guy taking my order somehow gave me one free coke and made me pay for another one. I do recommend this pizza place. I've had an actual pizza from here a couple months ago and remember being impressed, which is why I tried the calzone.
