Always a solid experience at Pete's. Every time we visit home and go to Nana's house in Chevy Chase, we make plans to visit this place. We've actually hosted two birthdays here in the past few years, that's how much we like it. You order at the counter, get a number, find a seat, and they bring it out. It's a spacious dining area and always clean. Pro tip - they have beer in bottle and tap. We usually get two big pies to share. Can't ever go wrong with a pepperoni and we usually get a Margherita add Sausage. Wings are also solid and their salads are a good size. If you're in the area and craving a good pizza at a laidback restaurant with a cosy, down to earth atmosphere - this is it!

Stopped by here last weekend as it's been on my places to try for a while but don't live in the area. It was solid pizza but ultimately not worth the trip for me to go out of the way for. Would recommend if you live in the area and seemed like a lot of carry out orders. There was also a lot of very loud kids around so def good for families

Used eat here regularly when I had business trips to Friendship Heights. First trip back in a while and was excited to try it again. They have a good selection of pizza, and other items on the menu. They also have 6-8 selections by the slice. The pizza definitely hits the New Haven style with thin chewey crust. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. Service is quick and attentive. The restaurant is clean with lots of seating inside and out.

This used to be my go to pizza place, but food quality has changed and the bottom crust was burnt badly. I usually get the Metro-North pizza. Service was decent.

Staying with my sister, she said this was a local favorite in Friendship Heights, so we ordered three pizzas for pickup on a Saturday night. I got the Merritt Parkway, with prosciutto, caramelized onions, Kalamata olives, EVOO, and basil. The 14" was $19 and enough to feed two people. The Staven was great too, with hot sausage, pepperoni, roasted garlic, hot cherry peppers, and cartelized onions. I'm not exactly sure what "New Haven style" pizza is but Pete's APizza makes thin crust pizza that has a great crispiness to it. They have so many interesting flavor combinations and I would definitely order from them again the next time I'm in town.

as someone from New Haven, I was thrilled to try this place! I thought it was pretty good pizza, but not new haven style. It was definitely better than other places in the dc area, but as someone from the area, this was not new haven style to me, there were no char marks, no coal fired oven, no crispy charred bottom, and i think the mushrooms were not fresh. It is a decent attempt, and it's still a good pizza, just not new haven style like something you would get from sally's or pepe's. The name is a bit misleading.

The crust is burned in some places and undercooked in others, like it couldn't decide which level of failure to commit to. The toppings are a random mess--onions tossed like someone sneezed them on, olives rolling around like loose change, and sad green peppers that look more boiled than baked. Half of the pizza looks like it gave up halfway through cooking, and the other half looks like it survived a house fire. Pepperoni? Barely there. Cheese? Patchy. Sauce? Overpowered by bitterness from the charred crust. Honestly, this isn't a pizza--it's a crime scene in a cardboard box. If you want to know what disappointment tastes like, order this. Otherwise, save your money and your dignity. I don't even know if I'd try this again if it was free. -A Pizza Connoisseur

My family and I are always looking for a new pizza spot to try and AP was the right place and the right time. I'll talk about the space for a minute. It's a small pizza place. It's not meant for groups. They have maybe four or five tables. This is more of a quick bite or grab a slice at the counter before the movies kind of place. If I can wrap up the vibe and the decor in three words, I would use modern, hipster and clean. I kind of dug the feel. It has a tiny bit of grit to it and that's more than I can say for most of Bethesda. So because we started with a group of four eventually joined by my brother-in-law's family of four, we ended up squeezing about eight people into a small booth. This was by choice. But they were accommodating. I wouldn't recommend this place for groups, but the service was outstanding and it felt like an A+. Here what stood out from our order. They have mixed drinks on their menu and if you have an old-fashioned on your menu, I'm going to try it. I really enjoyed mine. The focaccia bread with garlic butter was incredible. I highly suggest you try that if you're gonna come in. Of the two pizzas we got, I thought the plain pie was better than Tony's pie. Ordering food, whether you're sitting down or taking your food to go is also really easy. They have self-serve kiosks and I'm all for that. Back to the service, as I was ordering our food through the self-serve kiosk and the staff was more than happy to give their two cents or answer any questions about the menu. I don't have any real negative notes. I know I gave 4 stars, but there are no fractional ratings on Yelp, unfortunately. I would say somewhere around 4.25 was my gut score. I'll add that going to a restaurant one time does not paint a complete picture. I'll probably come back to try more items. I recommend you give it a try.

If I was going on my solo experience, rating would be a 2. It is a bit noisy, not from music, just poor acoustics because its all hard surfaces in a tall empty space and nothing to absorb sound which was generated from the din of patrons especially the busier it got, so hearing conversations was little hard once more people filled the inside space. Place was clean and the cashier snd service people were very pleasant. I've never been to either Piccoli locations, but was introduced to this after suggestion from our friends who live nearby & patronize since they've opened. You order at counter and if you're eating there, they give you a number to put on your table & someone brings you the food. They have both indoor and a nice outdoor seating with umbrellas at the outer tables. A pretty goid sized outdoor soace too. I was SUPER surprised at how fast our food came out. Was my pizza even cooked? Well mine wasn't even hot!! My husband pizza was hot, so again, just me having the bad experience. All the other entrees looked steaming. I just got the bad meal deal I guess. I ordered the Inverno which was white pizza with goat cheese, brussel sprouts and caramelized onions & herbs. I think someone forgot any flavoring. Very bland, not hot from the oven and just didn't do anything for me. Just on that alone, i have no desire to return. Very disappointing. Couldn't eat the bare edges as to me, the dough was lackluster. And i LOVE a good dough! My hubby got the Tutte Carne pizza which he thought was very good. He liked the texture, softness & dough flavor, pepperoni were slightly spicy, but not too bad. Our friends ordered pasta and salad dishes which they seemed to enjoy & looked delicious (salad chicken Milanese, Pomodoro, and Bolognese without the ricotta).

This place is a joke -- where do I even begin?…read more We made reservations for a table on the covered patio this past Friday at 5:30 p.m. My wife, our two kids, and I arrived right on time, and the patio was mostly empty: two tables of four were occupied, while five other tables of four sat empty, along with a few high-tops and seats at the bar. The host was a bit gruff, but initially it didn't seem like a big deal. She seated us all the way in the back of the patio, directly in the path of the setting sun. Since there were plenty of open tables in shaded areas, we politely asked if we could move. We were told no because those tables were "reserved." We reminded the staff that we also had a reservation and asked why we couldn't sit at one of those tables instead. It's not like we walked in without one expecting special treatment. The host just kept repeating, "I'm sorry, but those tables are already reserved." They offered to move us inside or to the front side of the restaurant, but refused to seat us anywhere else on the covered patio. After more back-and-forth, the host finally relented with an annoyed, "That's fine, we can just adjust," and walked us over to a table that had technically still been occupied moments earlier. We then awkwardly stood there waiting for the diners to gather their things and leave while the staff rushed to clean the table. Once we sat down, the host came back out visibly upset, loudly rearranging and slamming tables while muttering to herself -- the only word I clearly caught was "unbelievable." She was obviously unhappy with us. The absurd part is that the "adjustment" she made was incredibly simple: she turned two four-top tables into a two-top and a larger table seating seven. Even after that, two other four-top tables remained untouched. During our meal, one of those tables was given to a mother and her young son, and the other to two dads and their daughters. So I'm still not sure why we were treated as though accommodating us was impossible. The rest of the staff honestly seemed just as uncomfortable with the situation as we were. The food itself was fine, but at that point we probably should have left. I've never been treated with this level of disrespect and disdain at a restaurant before. I honestly don't understand why the host was so determined to stick us in the back. Was it because we had a baby? Or because we didn't fit the racial profile of the clientele they want to attract? Either way, we won't be back.

I'll echo others in knocking a star for quality of service: it is practically nonexistent. The bar…read morestaff seemed out to lunch and managed to ruin very simple orders. I think they do best when you choose a cheese-forward pizza. I would stay away from their vegetable pizza unless you like a pizza that is very ingredient-forward. After an hour and a half wait, our order arrived hot and well-packed. Let me say - SO MUCH FOOD. About 3/4 of the food wasn't eaten because there was so much! We could have easily split one entree and feel bad so much went to waste (our hotel does not have mini-fridges in their rooms). For entrees, we ordered the bolognese and chicken Marsala. The Marsala was a hard no - there was almost zero sauce and flavor; we basically received two chicken breasts with a few mushrooms on top of unsauced spaghetti. The bolognese, however, was delicious! Very rich, served with fettuccini. Would have enjoyed more with Parmesan cheese on top. We received salads with each entree, and the dressings tested homemade and were delicious! A side of broccoli may have been the best broccoli I've ever had from a restaurant. Also included was grilled bread, but we passed on the bread due to the abundance of the rest of the food. Our order arrived without utinsils or napkins, which was disappointing (and challenging). We were able to beg utensils from our hotel, but I would reconsider ordering from them again due to that. Overall, a hit and miss order that came in at a higher than average (for us) price.
