For starters: Sunday night about 6 p.m., check in and are told it's a half-hour, which is reasonable. They use a text system, so we go for a walk. In less than half an hour, we're told our table is ready! This setting is pretty great - the way a pizza restaurant should be (outdoor seating, friendly staff, great beer list, and lots of choices. My son, the pizza expert in our family, really wanted to check this place out, but we'd already had some food a little earlier, so we got a six-slice small cheese with original crust. I ordered six mild wings (bone-in), and he got a fresh-cut chip order. The wings were huge and sauced perfectly. The chips were pretty good, but a bit underwhelming - nice crunch, but nothing out of the ordinary. As it should be, though, the pizza is the star of the show. Even with just a cheese pizza, the dough and sauce are delicious. My boy ranks all his pizza selections, and this one made it to #3 overall, behind two NY pizza places. I hadn't been to this pizzeria in years because of the distance, but in the past I've always had great experiences. Unfortunately, this visit was just okay. We ordered two small specialty pizzas and one extra-large pizza, all with pan crust. After placing our order, I overheard the kitchen mention they were out of pan crust, but no one informed us right away. When our two small pizzas arrived, I assumed the extra-large was still being prepared. When I asked about it, our server told me I had requested it to go, which I had not. To her credit, she tried to make things right by providing a pizza to take home, but the crusts and sizes were still not what we originally ordered. She also spent time explaining what was going on in the kitchen. Personally, I prefer when a problem is simply corrected rather than accompanied by excuses. In the end, I didn't eat much because I didn't care for the hand-tossed crust. To add to the disappointment, an automatic 20% gratuity was added to the bill, which was surprising and something I had never seen there before. It's hard for me to believe that I've been eating here for years and I never reviewed. First. Parking. There is a lot down on Madison about 1 block that you can park and walk. Otherwise it is a crap shoot on trying to find a spot. Just go to the lot and walk. Also, Monday is buy one get one. It's crazy bad that day. Best advice for Monday is to take out. It's just easier or wait awhile. Good size restaurant. Outside sidewalk seats too. Bar seats too. Bar is nice and has about 16 handles. They have ciders on tap. All good! Also Cleveland's beers like Fat Heads. I've had almost every pizza. And I typically order the original crust and not the deep dish. The original crust is thicker. So just be aware. It's not a thin NY style pizza. It holds up to the toppings for the most part. All the choice pies are good. Veggie, margarita, the deluxes, we got the house pie. It was meatballs, sausage, mushroom, onions. Good! We also got the chips and dip appetizer. Super good and crunchy. Plus our server gave us extra chip dip cuz you go thru it fast. It was pretty crowded. But your food comes in a good amount of time. I've had the salads before and liked those as well. Salads are good to share. My biggest issue is the cost. XL choice pizzas will run you around $33 some a bit more and most around that. And they are odd numbers. Like $33.20 or $39.40. Thought that was weird pricing but I like even numbers that make sense and this pricing doesn't. No matter what I think the pricing is pretty expensive. This is not an every week pizza place if you're on a tight budget. A small is around $23 and a large is around $28. No mediums. I'll go back but I know going in it's going to cost us about $50 or more for 2 of us for a pizza, a drink, and maybe a salad or app. Just be aware. read more

Now this is what I'm talking about people! A few coworkers and I were in for a long day, so I decided to get us all some pizza for lunch. I went to Yelp and found Angelo's, which wasn't far from where we were, so I placed an order for pick up. We got a large cheese, a large pepperoni, a medium half cheese/half pep, and two salads. Let me tell ya, that was plenty! When I arrived this place was pretty poppin for a Thursday at 1pm. Clearly they draw in the lunch crowd. It only took one bite into my slice of pizza and I understood why. The crust was pillowy and chewy, the sauce was sweet but just the right amount, and the amount of cheese was perfect. We got a side of ranch and it just added even more awesomeness to the bite. The salads were pretty large, but it would have been nice if they cut the veggies up a little more. There were full sized baby carrots thrown in there which were impossible to cut with the plastic utensils we got. I would hands down order from here if I lived in Cleveland. Amazing is the main word that would best describe this place. We went in on Saturday night about 8ish to grab food. It was about a 15 min wait but they do have a wait list you can join. The staff were nice and accommodating. The inside was busy and the food was GREAT. The restaurant at 8pm was busy and it was a little loud inside but great if you have children. We got a meat lovers pizza (the crust was sooo good), side salad (which was huge) and some French fries. Definitely go try this place you will not regret it. read more

Tried out this popular pizza spot in Cleveland for the first time and I was seriously impressed. The service was super quick and friendly, and the pizza was awesome. We started with the cheesy garlic bread, loaded with cheese and served with a really good marinara dip. Total win. Don't skip the wings either, they were legit. You can get your pizza either deep dish or original style, we tried both, and honestly, it's hard to say which one was better. They were both really good. There are spots inside the restaurant as well as in the patio area. The place filled up fast during the dinner rush, even though it was a weekday, and now I get why it's such a popular spot. Found our way into Angelo's for a weekday and quickly learned why it's a local institution. The place was packed and lively and really just felt like everyone enjoyed being there. We sat at the bar and the service was great. There's a decent selection of beers. We ordered a small pizza which was perfect for 2 with no leftovers. Came here Monday and it was an hour and a half wait. Apparently the pizza is half price on Mondays. When we got seated, we finally ordered some wings and the meat pizza. October pizza night was at Angelo's. We did not have reservations but when we got there we were told we would have to wait despite there being open tables. We headed to a local bar and waited until we were called. Our waitress was nice and gave us good service. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and a meatball sub. $18. Super good price point. Least expensive of any of the places we have been thus far for monthly pizza night. It was also the most hearty and largest of the pizzas. We were able to take half the pizza home. Now the pizza: not a super thin crust (I like it this way) tasty crust and crunchy undercarriage; plenty of sauce and cheese and totally enough pepperoni which were curled at the edges (my favorite!). Surprisingly, the sub stole the show! I know this is a pizza review but that meatball sub was delicious! We were so full there was no dessert to be had. I think they may use a cheese other than mozzarella which I really liked but people who only like mozzarella should be aware. read more

I've only done pick up so far, three or four times. Good pizza, though sometimes inordinately greasy--we stick to the simple non-deep dish style for this reason. Def a reason this place is popular--I like that the sauce isn't sweet, and although they have higher quality ingredients, it isn't crazy pricey. Pickup service is always efficient and pleasant. Parking stinks, but what are you going to do. Would I call this pizza life changing? No. But I do crave it, which I def can't say about everywhere. read more

A Cleveland classic, Angelo's pizza is consistently good. I never realized they offered deep dish pizza until this visit. I guess I never paid attention. We got the small deluxe supreme pizza with traditional crust and 5 buffalo wings. While Angelo's is known for then pizza, the wings were really the star of this meal. They were plump, breaded and fried. The buffalo sauce was great and although runny, their ranch was delicious (I love runny ranch). The small pizza and 6 wings were definitely enough for us to sare, we weren't ridiculously hungry. I stopped in on a Tuesday night, after an event at about 9:00 pm. There weren't many tables in the restaurant. The service was a little lackluster as my friend and I noticed that the waitress took a while to greet us and take our order. This wouldn't have been a big deal had we not seen her stop by the table across from us, grab their order and drinks and then come to our table. The only problem is that they came in about 10 minutes after us. The waitress and the patrons seemed to spark conversation easily, so it seemed like maybe they were regulars of hers. This was such a horrible dining experience. I can excuse mistakes when you're busy but our server/bartender was so busy taking shots with regulars that she completely messed our order up. She forgot to ring in our meatballs and we had to ask multiple times about them. I had modifications to my pizza that I had to clarify multiple times and it still came out wrong. After having to get our order corrected, she stopped acknowledging us and the other bartender had to help us. Our original bartender didn't even apologize which I felt was horrible customer service. Again, i can understand being busy especially on Monday (1/2 off dine in pizzas) but you shouldnt be drinking at the bar in front of your guests if you can't get orders right. Job first, fun later.
