The food and service here are outstanding! The ambiance is very family-oriented, adorned with plenty of family photos. Although the space is quite small, it feels cozy and welcoming. By the way, there is no seating, just a counter and a small space to stand and wait. REGARDLESS, The "Grandma's Pizza" is one of the best pizzas I've ever had in Delaware and rivals many from New York! I love pizza from Angelo's in Dover but don't often get it due to no delivery. They are one of the few places I know which offers capicola as a topping. The sauce and crust are delicious as well. They are friendly and quite customer oriented. I have heard they serve great cheesesteaks and other sandwiches as well. I would highly recommend. They are open weekdays, 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. read more

We really wanted to have some real New York pizza on our trip to the Northeast, so while in Dover saw Angelo's nearby. It's a fairly small place with 3 small tables along with a TV. I guess they do a lot if take out orders. They had 4 pizzas made already and a few more in the oven, so we picked out our slices and they quickly heated them up in the pizza oven and served them up. I had the sausage one which was excellent. This was as close to New York City pizza I've had outside of New York. Thin crust, piping hot, delicious cheese and just enough grease to run off the slice if you weren't careful. Delicious. Total $7.50 for 3 large slices, which I thought was a good deal. Angelo,s Pizza Horrible Hygiene... Avoid this place until they clean up. I like downtown Dover, and I like to support the businesses down there. Today, I stopped at Angelo's Pizza because I know they make a nice, juicy turkey sub. There were 3 young fellows sitting outside at one of the sidewalk tables and as I entered Angelo's, one of them stood, followed me in, went behind the counter and asked me politely how he could help me. I gave him my order and he walked into the kitchen to make my sandwich. I was very disappointed to watch this seemingly nice young man begin working on my sub without washing his hands or even donning plastic gloves. As a former environmental health tech in the USAF, I usually take a keen interest in the cleanliness of restaurants and the personal hygiene habits of food preparation staff. Angelo's certainly failed the Pappy Bob staff hygiene test.... but it gets worse. I asked the young man to wash his hands. He calmly agreed and disappeared for over a minute. Upon his return, I felt uneasy about the situation and told him that I was sorry, but I had to cancel my order. Where exactly did he have to go to wash his hands? Shouldn't Angelo's have a spot more convenient to kitchen staff in order to make it easier for people who work with food to be clean? When it comes to personal hygiene and food preparation, we have to put a lot of faith in people behind the counters and in the kitchens of the restaurants where we eat. If you care about cleanliness, I would advise you against putting your faith in Angelo's. This unfortunate episode will keep me out of that downtown Dover business until they recognize and correct their horrible hygiene. Sorry Angelo's... you need to clean up your act. read more

Let me premise this by saying I do not like pizza. So, strike one. Strike two, it came out room temperature and it's already the decaying countertop variety of single serve slices. Strike three, besides temperature and freshness, it came out mangled with the black soot from the oven reheating pad all stuck to the bottom of the dough/crust. Pros - convenient and cheap, and decent seating outside (but definitely not inside). They seem to include a free drink with two slices at lunch for ~$4 depending on toppings. read more

Over the 2 years I spent in dover I ordered from here regularly. Being originally from NJ I get really picky over pizza and Angelos was a close as I could find to the pizza you get further north. I especially enjoyed their NY White. The other food on the menu is just as good too and you shouldn't hesitate to try something new. Along with the food their staff and drivers were always kind and delivered in a timely manner. The hours are awesome as well. They're open until 2 AM every day except Sunday and will deliver until about midnight. The bars in dover close at 1 AM so you always have pizza after a night of drinking. All in all, if you enjoy pizza and are in the area absolutely give this place a try. read more

Best pizza place in town if not then the whole state, wow what an amazing place. People that work there are super friendly and the delivery guy is the nicest coolest person. They are just amazing service wise and taste wise I never go anywhere else but here for pizza. read more

A very small pizza joint, but they had a really good special on Mondays. 5 dollar medium cheese pizza. It would be nice if I was greeted or at least acknowledged when I walked in the door. Pizza was very good though, so most likely I'll go again. read more

Coming to Delaware from New York, I'm really picky when it comes to pizza, but this place is fantastic! Only place i've been to where it tastes like NY pizza. It's a block away from my job which is also really convenient! Very misleading from the outside because it's a really small building but the food is great and there is always a good deal/coupon! read more

Geno is the man!!! Great food and excellent garlic and mushroom pizza and the best pizza steak around! The tables outside are nice also. Only thing that disappointed me was to see they have a new menu and it didn't include the Chicken Caesar Salad Sub....bring that back! read more

Traveling from Ohio to the local are. Stayed at local hotel and ordered delivery. These guys know how to make a pizza. I ordered two extra large cheese pies for delivery. Got my order hot and the pizza is delicious. Pies and slices are huge and tastes like good NY style Neapolitan pizza. These guys been around a while and it shows. read more

I've been eating at Angelo's for 14 years now, first while working a few buildings away, then owning a house a few blocks away, and now as a neighbor. For a time, due to budget issues, I started getting my pizzas and cheese steaks elsewhere because they were cheaper. When I moved downtown and treated myself to Angelo's one night, I was shocked at how rich and delicious everything was compared to what I'd been settling for. Unlike every other place in town that delivers, Angelo's is open until 2am. Yeah, the cost of food plus I think a delivery fee plus a tip seems to total quite a bit for subs or pizza sometimes, but at 1am it is worth every penny. It has GREAT specials every night until midnight.. For something like $5.99 you can get a cheeseburger & fries platter every day (doesn't meet delivery minimum, so get 2). In addition to standard sub shop fare, they also offer Italian ice seasonally from the place that used to be Vitale's, as well as cannoli and funnel cakes. At one time downtown Dover had a lot of power outages and at that time the ice sometimes suffered, but it has been fantastic for at least the past year. Several years ago the funnel cakes seemed to be frozen and not as good as the usual summer fair variety but I haven't had one recently. The cannoli were always good (have you ever heard of bad cannoli?). The owner and employees also make their own unique takes on the standards, some extremely good. Chicken bacon ranch pizza is very good and quite popular. If you stop by sometime, it is usually available by the slice. Next time you are up at last call and hungry, give them a try.
