On our way to see the eclipse, and two hours into a five hour road trip, we stopped to eat in Taylorville. We had traditional wings (Buffalo) and they were outstanding. Crispy and delicious, with a good kick of flavorful buffalo sauce. Then we moved on to thin crust pizza, half sausage and onion and half sausage and pepperoni. Excellent. Thin, crispy crust. Really good quality meat, cheese and sauce. Service was friendly, prompt and on top of her game. (Sorry, I forgot her name) Atmosphere was definitely local and friendly and we had a great conversation with the table next to us. Such a late review but my meal photo was MIA in the photos folder! I have been here multiple times with my wife and family friends and have never had a bad meal. The gluten free/dairy free pizza was my meal of choice back in October of 2020. The staff is courteous, the food is exactly what you would expect from a small town pizza joint and the price point is perfect. Great service and pizza. We had the small order of cheese breadsticks to start: and they are super yummy! Lots of ooey gooey cheese and the marinara was a little sweet but we loved it. Also had the fried ravioli and cheese sticks with ranch, both were yummy. We split a large spicy Italian on thin crust and it was very good. Will return if back in the area. We were on our way home from the watching the total eclipse with hours to go and were starved. Needed to pick up something to snarf on the road that was better than fast food. A quick emergency check of Yelp turned up this place. What a pleasant surprise. Our Thick crust Pizza had a generous amount of toppings and was ready in 20 minutes. Waited in the small dining area and the attendant checked to see if the pizza was ready a couple times. It was on the pricey side but what isn't these days. Oh I hate to tear a business apart, so I'll put it nicely. Unfortunately this place serves food that isn't as good as nursing home food. Alfredo sauce is a thick cream sauce which has zero butter, garlic, parmesan cheese flavor. Not a fan of their pizza either which thin and crispy here is more like slim and soggy. Always a great place for pizza. Today I went with the Chicken Alfredo instead. My son had a hard time deciding between the tortellini or the mostaccioli. He picked the mostaccioli. Decided to visit Angelo's after calling a few days before and asking if an older gift card would still work (the gift card had $60 on it and had never been used) to which I was told as long as it was not 20+ years old I'd be alright. Upon eating and finishing our meal, which was pleasant and had great service, I attempted to pay with this gift card which they wouldn't honor because "their system couldn't read it" though the only input was swiping the card multiple times (never attempted inputting the numbers on the back), no consolation or discount of any sort was given and the manager did not apologize . Shady business tactics are enough to ruin any meal, will not be returning read more

We LOVE THIS PIZZA!! We drive 25 miles to eat there and, at times, we go to the Express, get a pre-bake and bring it home and bake ourselves. Especially for special occasions, we like to bring their pizza home. The service is good, you feel like you are part of their "community." The place itself is a bit aged, but better since they added on several years ago. The walls are covered with family pictures and pictures drawn by local school children. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because in the past pizza has been decent... But today I decided to order a Calzone. I have gotten them at a few places in the past and enjoying the sauce at Angelo's, I thought this would be good. I was very wrong. Not sure how this could even be called a Calzone. Good local food. I had a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, as it was their special today, and added fries with cheese. The sandwich was excellent, with fresh, crisp vegetables and excellent flavor. The staff were attentive, and the price was extremely reasonable. The fries were crispy and fresh, and, despite the fries and sandwich being fried, they surprisingly avoided being greasy. The cheese sauce was normal diner fare and nothing special, but we'll prepared all the same. Overall, this is a solid local diner disguised as a pizza joint with a very deep menu of items to choose from. read more

We are thin, crispy pizza lovers and that's what we got...Angelo's special- light on the sauce and well done which made it extra crispy. Angelo's Pizza has been in Taylorville for many years. It may even be one of the oldest restaurants in town? I've been going since I was a child. (30+ years now) Angelo's is family owned and never disappoints. Wait staff is always friendly and efficient. In all my years only ONCE was my order incorrect. Pretty darn impressive!! Service is quick (so is carry out). Food is excellent. They also have a rewards program where after so many points you receive 5$ off your next order. I frequent this establishment multiple times a month. Kids love it and I love it. It's easy to see why Angelo's has been around for so long. read more

This is absolutely the best place for pizza. My husband likes thin crust, I like it thick ; ] We had tried Dominos and Pizza Hut but let me tell ya, Angelos uses better cheese and the vegetables are more fresh. The sauce is so much better, too. I *think* they make it in house, but don't hold me to that. The salads are super fresh and crunchy and they do not skimp on anything. They just started serving horseshoes and I highly recommend them. The Reuben pizza is great, the taco pizza is REALLY good. Let's see, what else have we had... Oh, the breadsticks! Even the plain breadsticks have a nice, slightly sweet flavor and the cheesy breadsticks are AWESOME . I only gave 4 stars because they didn't read the directions on my pizza the first few times I ordered pick-up. I asked for my pizza pie cut but it was cut square like they normally do it. Pizza is good but pricey. Salad leaves much to be desired. Server was offended when they made a mistake on our last meal there and we asked for it to be corrected. I ordered a pizza to go last night. I got a 12" sausage & Canadian bacon. The young lady who took my order went above and beyond explaining the specials. As soon as I was introduced to Angelos I was hooked! It is my favorite place to eat and it is the best italian place around the area. The best pizza, spaghetti and garlic bread. At one point they raised the price for a cup of sauce and I brought that up to the manager, the next time I went they had already fixed the prices back and I was very pleased. The prices for food and drinks are very very reasonable. When I'm back in the area I will drive out of my way just to go back and eat there. I go every chance I get. Went here last night. Wow awesome prices on the special. So I ordered the lasagna special. It came with an iceberg lettuce salad which had tomatoes on it, no cheese or croutons and a little thing of salad dressing that was just ok. Lasagna was a smaller portion. It was ok, served with marinara sauce. Bread was just that - buttered bun no garlic or seasonings. While there they were vacuuming, not the best ambiance. They werent closing for an hour and half. I have worked here before I can tell you it's clean and sanitary and delicious! Their home made sweet and sour salad dressing is amazing! The pizzas are all made from scratch even the dough. They do catering, take out, they'll make you a pizza but not bake it so you can bake it at home, pretty sure they have on line ordering. They can pull up the last thing you ordered for take out. So if you liked it just tell them you want it exactly like last time. You can even call n order your food before you arrive and sit down n eat it! They'll have it ready for you. The servers have been rude when iv gone there lately. I don't know any of them any more. They hire young girls with no manners. read more
