Angelo saved my beloved cowboy boots, the ones I stole from my mother's closet, the ones with the snakeskin toes. Once they were in my hands they didn't come off of my feet for a while, and I walk a LOT. Apparently I walk enough to wear down the heel on some legit cowboy boots made in El Paso to the point where the nails become visible. So I brought them in to Angelo, who took them in his hands, inspected them, and nodded appreciatively at the quality of craftsmanship before showing me everything he would do to fix them. He asked for a deposit of $20 upon dropoff, the remaining $25 when I picked them up, and took less than a week to fix them. When I picked them up they were better than new, with rubber on the entire sole, a rebuilt heel, toe & heel plates, and on top of all of that, he conditioned the leather. Thank you! read more

They are shoe butchers! I've got so disappointed with them that brought my old unused yelp account back to life just to write this review. I had some simple alternation to do do on my pair of shoes, something that I could have done myself, but I was stupid enough to think that professional would do better job. Alternation required removing thread on part of the shoe and restitching it back together - that easy. How shocked I was when I went to pick up my shoes! What they did looked like child's job. Stitches were totally out of line, In fact instead of running them trough the holes from old stitches, they put new next to it. And they didn't even bother to match thread color (which was black) and used light grey thread instead, so it was even more visible. When I complained, guy just said "if you like it black I can change it", but I refused and took my poor shoes out of there. Just didn't want them to touch my shoes anymore and they obviously couldn't done any better anyway. I regret not taking pictures to post before I ripped it all and fixed it myself. Took me few hours but looks great. Why did I doubt myself first place? Lesson learned: If you want something to be done right, do it yourself! read more

Outstanding shoe repair shop from another era. The mom and pop team that runs this place treats you like family. I was waiting for them to feed me, but unfortunately that didn't happen. When you bring in a pair of shoes here, they take the time to explain everything that they'll do to make your shoes looking new. If they don't think the shoes are repairable, they'll let you know. But they throw caps on everything, so it's rare that your shoes will reach the point of no return. They're not the cheapest in the area, and they're certainly not the most expensive. But regardless of price, their craftsmanship is fantastic. read more

I went to Angelo's because A) it's got great reviews, B) it's only a couple of blocks from my apartment and C) I have a penchant for family businesses run by little old couples. Angelo and his wife are seriously the most adorable little old couple on the planet. She seems to be the more communicative of the two and he seems to do the actual repairs. I had two pairs of boots repaired - new heels. They cost me $15 each and Angelo required a $20 deposit - cash only of course. They came out well enough, not perfect but for the price, I'm happy with the work. The downside is definitely the hours. They are open Monday-Saturday 10am-5:30pm and they don't seem to have a phone. I dropped my boots off on Saturday, as I work normal business hours so weekdays are totally out of the question, and they were ready the following Saturday for pick-up. All-in-all a pretty good experience - would recommend. read more

Both husband and wife are always a pleasure to do business with. I've taken several pairs of shoes to them in the past few months and they are the first to tell me if what I want really needs to be done or if there is a less expensive way to do it. Can't say enough about Angelo! He cares about shoes, about getting it right, and about making the customer want to come back! Went to Angelo's today to see if he could help me with a new pair of sandals where the strap kept falling off the back of my heel making it hard to walk. He fixed them while I waited and added taps to the front so I would stop destroying the front of the sandals when I trip which I do all the time. I'm sure he undercharged me. As mentioned by other people he and his wife are very friendly although I probably wouldn't go in there when I was in a rush as his Italian accent and english is a little hard to understand but since I had the time, I spent a very nice 20 minutes chatting with them! read more

I was very pleased with Angelo's. I compared prices by walking into several other shops in the area and asking for an estimate, and Angelo's was the cheapest. Cobblers in the area generally jack up the prices- I appreciate that Angelo's has an honest & fair price. They did a great job of repairing a ripped seam on a leather purse and had it finished in under an hour. The man working the shop was straight-forward, friendly, and efficient. I brought two pair of really expensive, irreplaceable shoes to Angelo's. I had worn them down to the point where I wasn't sure they could be repaired. I asked Angelo if he could completely rebuild the shoes (implicitly inviting him to charge me a lot of money for the rebuild). He declined, suggesting a different and much less expensive way to repair them. He said it would be safer than taking them apart completely, and that we could always try that later if the interim measure fails. He did it his way, inexpensively, and I am totally happy with his work. I figure I can now get at least a couple more years' wear out of shoes I had almost given up for dead. Why not take it to a shoe repair shop. I was searching the neighborhood for shoe repairs and I stumbled on this hole in the wall place in Park Slope, Angelo's Shoe Repair. This is the reason why somethings in life are still necessary, but like any old technology they tend to become obsolete. Sad ain't it. Angelo (the owner) is one of the most friendliest customer driven individual in Brooklyn. He would have a nice conversation with you, and becomes familiar with the customer. This place also screams 1950's nostalgia, I felt like I traveled to another place in time.The whole look of the place is vintage old Brooklyn nitty gritty. His price was only $35, which was pretty cheap, but he told me the next time I see him, he'll give me a discount. Angelo, is a great person and has great skill, (he was a shoe maker in Italy) he made my boots looked as good as the day that I bought them, but more enhanced, he restitched them shined them and even threw in plastic caps so that they don't wear down as fast. Thank God for Angelo's Shoe Repair and the next time you think of throwing away that expensive shoe or boot, think about places like these. When I brought my boots (2 pairs) into Angelo's, there were seriously 4 holes in each sole. Like, literally could not wear them in the rain cause my foot would be soaked and I looked crazy. I finally (seriously 6 months) took them in and decided Angelo would be the one to do the job. And I am so happy that I did. I have purposely been walking in puddles and snow this past week to see if the work he did was really that good. It really, really is. It's not really cheap, persay ($80 for 2 pairs), but the outcome makes it totally worth it. If any of my shoes need repairing (and lord knows the way I walk in my shoes, I will definitely have shoe repair in my future) I will bring them to Angelo every time. I took two leather handbags in for repair and cleaning. One looked like a totally different color than its original taupe shade, and the other had a ton of scratches and needed new hardware. I am super tough on my bags and shoes, unfortunately, and really needed a good repair place. Angelo's restored both bags beautifully - my expectations were exceeded when I picked them up. They were good as new! I look forward to taking some tired old soles there for repair as well. If they do half as good a job as they did on my bags, I'll be happy:) Also, the guy was really nice. I brought in three pairs of my wife's shoes for basic repairs. Two pairs of high heels needed worn out heels fixed and one pair of boots needed some glue where the sole was coming off. They said to come back in four days to pick them up. When I returned, they had a bit of trouble finding the shoes (no big deal), but they had not begun repairing any of the shoes! They offered to do the repairs right then, which would take 25 minutes, but I opted to come back the next day since I didn't have time to wait around. They did a good job repairing the shoes, but having to wait so long for a routine repair job and having to come back twice to pick them up was not great. read more

You can't really find a good mom and pop store these days. Angelo's is the exception. They're so awesome! I think it's ran by him and his wife, and I presume they're from Italy. Angelo just took a look at my boots and was like I'll fix this and this and this and I thought maybe this guy was trying to scam me out of all my money but he made my booties look brand new, and way improved. I have been very happy with Angelo's. So far I have had three broken sandals repaired, which can be tricky, and a pair of boots. There is a small wedge on my boots and he worked insane magic on the heal tips and cleaned up the surrounding leather that looked destroyed. I am so pleased. Took a gorgeous pair of designer boots for a zipper replacement on one of the boots. He said he would find an exact match to the original zipper so that both boots would continue to match. He put in a zipper that was noticeably the wrong shade of brown. The zipper was the visible, not covered type, and it ran the entire height of this knee length boot. It looked bad and to make it worse, the stitching wasn't even straight. He told me I had to get the other perfectly fine boot's zipper redone to match his messed up one. He yelled at me when I refused to go along with getting a 2nd zipper which I shouldn't have needed had he done a better job of matching the zipper in the first place. A better shop would have responded by telling me he couldn't find an exact match so here are 2 new zippers instead, the 2nd one is on me....right??!!! If you care about the quality and appearance of what you bring here for repair, go elsewhere! read more

I found Angelo's on Yelp & the reviews were dead on. I signed up to Yelp just so i could write a glowing review. My boots were in bad shape & they were restored to almost mint condition for 40 bucks. I had payed that same amount to have the work done the year before & the repair lasted 6 months tops. Angelo & his lovely wife aAngelina were so lovely ! Stay away if you have expensive shoes that need any work! This review was long past due. I brought in my brand new Valentino rockstuds flat for them to put on rubber soles. When I picked them up a couple of days later, one of them had a big glue spot on the side of the shoe! Needless to say I asked them to fix it. They tried using a cloth to wipe off the glue, which did not work. At that point I was a bit nervous since I saw the coloring of the patent leather come off on the cloth. They said come back in a day and we will get this resolved. Day after the spot looked 10 times worse than the day before! The glue was still there and the spot was discolored. I was fuming, the guy was like sorry we will send it to our "better" store to get this fixed. I decided to give them one last chance so I left with my sunken heart. On the final day, it looked better, at least under their lighting, however upon further examination at home, it was definitely off. I think they put some coloring on it which is not a complete match for the shoe. I will never trust my shoes to this place again!!!! read more

When I read the reviews I had to go to Angelo's and when I met the man he was incredibly sweet and seemed to know his craft, asking lots of questions about what I wanted and making suggestions about what would work best. I totally trusted the guy. Two weeks later I came back for my shoes. Oh man! His work was so bad i thought they weren't my shoes. Then i saw he had glued on a patchwork of plastic pieces on the heel to fill in the gap where it had worn down. The plastic pieces don't even match up so there are holes in the heel and he hasn't bothered to sandpaper down the edges. It looks like an amateur tried to build a stone wall with plastic. Why didn't he cut the heel even and build it back up? That would have been way neater and probably far less work. He did the same with my boots. And the soles have been roughly cut. At nearly $70 I expected proper craftsmanship. Real pity. read more

I am so impressed! I took my precious, well-worn leather boots in for a repair on Friday morning. The shop fixed my destroyed heels, the messed up leather on the heels and a broken zipper by Monday afternoon. All that plus a thorough cleaning was $75. Everyone was also very nice.
