My favorite cobbler (Albert & Arina at 986 E 14th St) closed its doors a few years ago & I have been waiting to find a new one I can trust to use the best material and whose work will stand the test of time. Yelp helped me find this shop & I was so desperate to wear my favorite boots this season that I just decided to go for it and take a chance. The awning above the shop reads "Grigori Shoe Repair" and it's right next to the Kings Highway B/Q train station. The customer service was excellent, they are professional and responsive. I was thrilled to find that their work is also exceptional. Great craftsmanship, execution & attention to details. The before and after pictures tell you all you need to know. Luis did a great job replacing the entire sole, insole and heel of my Chelsea boots. They are 12 year old boots that really never saw a day at the cobbler so it was great to get them freshened up and taken care of. He showed me his samples and catalogs of what he was going to replace everything with. Cost $100 for the entire job which can be considered expensive for some but cheaper than buying a new pair of shoes and giving back to your local economy. Thanks! read more

I needed the height of my shoe to be taken down because the heel was too high. They were very professional and listened to my concerns and requests. They also recommended putting an extra layer on the bottom to give me a bit more cushioning on my . When I picked up the shoes, they didn't decrease the heel as much as I had requested, but they made the change right there and then. I brought my mangled pair of red Doc Marten's to Luis & Son after deciding against buying a new pair and I'm so glad I did! The red faded away, the leather was wrinkled and one of the heels had come off from the seven years of wear and tear. Anyway, I picked my boots up today and they are good as new: clean, bright red, heels intact with new laces. The repairs cost me $45, which is a very good deal because the other places I looked into were charging me $60+ for the same work. The service was prompt; I dropped it off on a Friday before Labor Day weekend and it was ready by Wednesday, just as he had promised. Great job on my two pairs of shoes that needed some heel work done.

I brought in my beloved Allen Edmonds sanford for a resoling. I generally avoid local cobblers due to bad experiences, however based on the good reviews I thought I would give this establishment a try. I ordered J Rendenbach full soles and new heels, as JR is a premium product. My experience has been that half soles are a waste of money. When I came to pick up the shoes I was impressed with the workmanship, however it was a sunny day and I had on sunglasses. That evening when I returned home , I brought the shoes in and as I was placing them in the closet I noticed that the sole was spliced under the heel. I had made it implicitly clear that I wanted a one piece sole and the owner wrote it on the receipt, as well as having paid for full soles. I have not gone back yet, and I know I will just get some story. If you have a quality shoe like Edmonds or Lobb take it somewhere else. While the owner appears to be informative and quite decent, he is another scamster. This is why I have taken to avoiding my "local bussinesman" . read more

This shop is wonderful. I recently brought my very favorite boots that I had worn down to the ground. I had giant hole in the bottom leather, the heels and toes were majorly and unevenly worn, the leather faded and the stitching frayed. I have hard to fit feet though so I didn't want to give up on them. Luis & Son breathed new life into them, you can't even tell that they were basically reconstructed from the ground up! The new heels, plus fill-in, are excellent. They 'fixed' my over use of cream polish, and provided very polite advice. This is now the 'go to' shoe repair for my family. I only wear Allen Edmond shoes and tend to be VERY careful about shoe repair. In addition, I just finished a period of mourning for Gaspare, closing after 30 plus years as a customer, and their two generations of serving the community so well.
