Great spot! Even better than the one in Denver. Huge dining room plus lovely outdoor patio seating. We arrived just in time to take advantage of their happy hour menu (ends at 6) and scored 18 oysters for a mere $22. We also enjoyed the meatball and caprese sliders and the delicious spinach salad. What an amazing gem. I hosted a business lunch, which unfortunately means I did not take pictures of our entrées. But the service was amazing. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, helpful with ordering and just made our experience so fun. My favorites were the scallops, the lobster gnocchi, and the lemoncello cake, hands-down amazing. I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone else. I wish I could've stayed longer, enjoy a beer or wine, simply take in the surrounding peace all in one place. We love coming to Angelo's and bringing friends. We hadn't tried their happy hour menu and wanted to give it a try. We arrived around 4pm and were seated in a booth inside right away. It was already busy with many people inside and the outdoor patio tables had a little bit of a wait. The bar seating also was pretty full. Lively atmosphere overall. Our server was friendly and attentive. She made sure to check in on us after every course was delivered. We ordered a couple items off the happy hour menu - pizza, oysters from Virginia and toasted ravioli. I was surprised only 4 pieces of ravioli came for $7. I guess that's a fair price but not a great deal for happy hour. Oysters were nice and fresh. Pizza was just okay. The tuna crudo was a little heavy on the balsamic sauce. I usually like a lighter flavor but the jalapeños were fresh and spicy. Overall, I probably wouldn't order these items again but I'm glad I tried them and wished I had seen pictures beforehand. I had a glass of the house Albariño white wine which was delicious. It was a nice pour but just okay value for $9 happy hour. Next time I don't think I'd hurry here for their happy hour but I still would come during regular hours. The lasagna bolognese is one of my favorites but I do notice smaller portions and the garlic bread accompanying it. Megan was our server and she was impeccable. Always on top of it, super friendly, great at her job. This is one of our favorite oyster spots, especially during their happy hours when they're only $1.25 a pop. Both raw and cooked are phenomenal! I highly recommend the Gorgonzola bacon oysters. Chef's kiss. We ordered 14 raw oysters, 6 cooked, 2 orders of toasted raviolis, Caesar salad, 8" pepperoni pizza, meatball sandwich, and 2 diet cokes. Fun - packed place. The weather was still comfortable so we chose an outdoor table for the 8 of us. The place was bustling the entire night - some patrons just there for wine tastings and others like us for dinner. For as busy as it was there was not a long wait for our food. Everyone enjoyed what they had, from French Onion Soup to Mussels to various Salads. The same can be said for the entrees which for the most part were Pastas. As it got dark, we were treated to a full moon as a backdrop and various fire pits were lit. I don't know how busy they are during the week but definitely get reservations for the weekend. We've been going to Angelo's for years. The food is consistent, there is usually a struggle to get room at the bar but the crowd is always friendly. The female redheaded bartender is frequently there during our visits. If she were to be less snippy and rude, maybe smile once in a while, and not come across as off-putting it would make ours, and I'm sure other's, experiences much more pleasant. When she does smile, it looks like a forced smile and that is not genuine or authentic. When your bar is full, and folks are standing waiting for drinks because their table isn't ready, you shouldn't be on your phone. Also, just because someone is a long term employee, doesn't mean they're a good employee and she is definitely NOT hospitable or friendly. read more

Lots of small children running around as if the outdoor seating area were a playground, shrieking and darting around tables. Parents totally ignoring their little brats only added to the chaos. This experience was incredibly frustrating from start to finish. We called 2 weeks ahead for priority seating, as recommended, and still waited 20 minutes past our reserved time while multiple parties who arrived after us were seated first. It immediately made us feel overlooked and unimportant. While we waited, we ordered drinks at the bar. The bartenders did not speak highly of the staff and mentioned a few times that "the kitchen cannot handle that" or "the servers would all quit" for various reasons. It gave us pause as to whether we should even stay. Once seated, things only continued downhill. They were out of two local red wines and apparently every Pinot Noir on the menu, which was disappointing considering the limited options left. The service throughout the night felt completely inattentive. Our water glasses sat empty, no one checked on us after our food arrived, and we couldn't even mention issues because no one came by. To make matters worse, there was an olive pit left in the tapenade, which is unacceptable and honestly dangerous. On top of that, the pizza and pasta plates were scorching hot, and no one warned us before serving them. I ended up burning my hand trying to move a plate. For the price point and reputation, I expected so much better. The entire evening felt disorganized, careless, and lacking even the most basic attention to hospitality. We have a running list of hundreds of restaurants in the Denver metro area. We both grew up here and try 1-2 new (to us) restaurants a month. Of the list, which we started over 10 years ago, there are 3 with a thumbs down emoji next to them and this unfortunately is one of them. read more

On a hot early summer day in mid-June (well Father's Day to be exact), dining at Angelo's Taverna was so fitting. This eatery conjoined with Carboy Winery, for those who are avid wine drinkers can appreciate this restaurant even when they are with beer drinkers as Angelo's has got a good selection of beer(s) as well. After walking in the nearby trail along the Platte River for a good 20-30 minutes, my BF and I were ready for a nice meal that would be accompanied by great drinks. At a glance, the restaurant looked busy and yet once we were inside (as we opted for the air-conditioned inside seating), we realized that the place had plenty of seatings left. Upon checking in with the receptionist, we were sat at one of the 2-person tables that has a great view of the patio area. Our wonderful waiter is/was Jeff K. His warm demeanor coupled with his kind and welcoming words made us feel that we were in good hands for the lunch occasion. He went with the Smoked Salmon Mezzaluna and I went with the Roasted Beet Salad with Salmon add-on. Our drinks were the Avalanche for him and the Sauvignon Blanc (tap) for me. His Smoked Salmon Mezzaluna - Excellent pasta dish. The pasta (kind of like ravioli) has smoked salmon paste inside it. The cream sauce bottom had a nice contrast color from the pasta (orangy color). It wasn't just the creamy white and the orangy pasta. There is a noticeable amount of spinach to make the whole dish so colorful. The taste? It entertained his/mine palates. My Roasted Beet Salad with grilled Salmon - This is also a solid dish. Plenty of arugula leaves are the bottom/base of the whole plate. The beet pieces are everywhere. The wall nuts and a little sprinkle of goat cheese (?) colorfully painted the whole dish. My BF and I simply couldn't think of anything negative about our today's lunch experience. We arrived at 7pm and waited 1 hour for a table on a Friday night. We were expecting the food to be excellent, but really were left unimpressed. Our waiter was amazing and attentive. The ceaser salad was overwhelmingly garlicky, a flavor I've never even considered in a ceaser salad. My salmon & risotto dish was overpowered with pesto, you would have to be a huge pesto fan to enjoy it. My fiancé did not care for his pasta dish either. We visited again this weekend and had a great experience! It was busy due to a private party in the banquet room, but the food came out very quickly and we were seated almost immediately (we called ahead and got on the priority seating list, which I would recommend). The special oyster of the day was shrimp scampi, which was delicious. It didn't have any shrimp on it, so I was confused by the name, but it had a very flavorful, garlicky pesto and a creamy sauce. The salmon risotto was cooked perfectly this time. We also enjoyed the lobster gnocchi and the pappardelle bolognese. This was our first time trying the bolognese, and it was great. Used to be one of my favorites. Last night was so so at best. Stood at the entry stand for a while before someone came to seat us- not a huge deal. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food is still expensive but not the worst deal around, but the food was just above mediocre. Chicken marsala, my go to here was rubbery and marsala was extra thin. My gf had salmon dish and she said same, just ok. Seems to be the way a lot of places are these days. Angelo's Taverna continues to be one of my favorites. Everything on the menu is delicious, but sitting at the bar for happy hour is my go-to. The chargrilled oysters, a salad, and a glass of wine are always a must for HH. I hadn't been in for several months until last night, and while there was a very uncomfortable situation with another guest, the way it was handled truly stood out. The bartender, H, and the manager, M, immediately recognized what was happening and stepped in quickly, handling it with professionalism, grace, and care. Experiences like that matter, and it reinforced why I enjoy coming here. The service is consistently top-notch, and the staff genuinely looks out for their guests. You can call in and get "preferred seating" which gets you in before walk ins at the time but is not reserved. Overall the food quality and ambiance are great, especailly for the price.
