9" Supreme Po'Boy Combo
Nina K.

This small eclectic sandwich shop feels nostalgic and comforting. The daily combo is great value and I enjoyed my regular with extra chow chow. The Philly cheesesteak would be a skip though in the future.

Hot Cuban Po Boy

I had a good experience at Angelo'z today. This is a cute sandwich shop which also has a mini market inside where you can buy spices ands things from around the world. They have multiple hot and cold sandwiches to choose from all of which look good. I ordered the hot Cuban po boy which was quite tasty. There was a good amount of meat and the bread was perfectly toasted. I would gladly come back for another sandwich again.

Angelo'z is a simple and basic neighborhood sandwich shop. I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and ordered the chicken salad for $8.20 and made it a combo with chips and a soft drink for another $3 and change. The food was ready in about 5 minutes. The bread was fresh and the chicken salad inside was good with some cheese added. For the price and taste it was a good meal. Nothing fancy here at all but it met my expectations. It's counter service and friendly. I would return.

Swear I had reviewed this place before and my review is still the same. Everything I have ordered from here has been delicious and today I tried their Poblano Soup for the first time and that was great as well...warm, creamy, a little spice and you definitely can taste the poblano.

Whole Muffaletta Sandwich - delicious!!!

Tl;dr: addicting muffuletta!!! About $12 for a whole, could feed 2 people or 1 very hungry person (like myself) Popped into Angelo'z for lunch post finals and couldn't decide between either a supreme or muffuletta-- well having never had a muffuletta before and dreaming of travel and a New Orleans experience, I went with that. The muffuletta was made to order and took less than 5 minutes. It was served warm and was SO GOOD! Layers of meaty, salty goodness accented by the brininess of the pickles and olives. I easily finished half the sandwich for lunch and will likely have the other half for dinner haha. Their whole muffuletta is the priciest sandwich on the menu, but could probably reasonably feed 2. Angelo'z also offers rotating daily sandwich combos-- order the sandwich of the day and get chips and a drink for $10. Chip selection includes Lay's, Zapp's, and Kettle. If you're in a rush, many of their popular sandwiches it seems, are available to be grabbed from the case. Also in the case are a variety of sides, like deviled eggs or pasta salad... cookies and cake for dessert, too! COVID safety: all employees wearing masks and hand sanitizer available. Some seating inside available. Next time I'm craving a sub sandwich, I'll be sure to be back!

Best sandwich spot in the med center! My favorite is the Supreme Poboy. I've only done pickup/drive thru, and they are always very quick!

I was just passing through downtown Houston when I was looking for a quick snack, and I stumbled…read moreupon this supermarket. what a surprise! The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

My niece and I checked out Phoenicia's for lunch, which was surprisingly delicious…read more My niece has simplistic tastes, so she opted for the chicken burger, which I tried of course. Perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior. The sweet potato fries were equally delicious. I got the Hill Country salad. Same tender but crispy chicken on a bed of greens with berries. So good. Definitely bookmarked as a return option.
