While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job.
