It's located in a foodland shopping lot and can't be seen off the highway. We wanted to try as many shaved ice places as we could and Angel's was one we tried. The service was quick once you got inside - which is small - the line outside was about 15 minutes. The shaved ice came in two sizes and they had a few flavors to choose from. The shaved ice was good but I which they would have put more flavor into them. The first few bites were flavorful then by the fourth they were watery because the syrup is thin. We personally think that Angels is the best shave ice on the island! It has creamy ice cream on the bottom, their shave ice is smooth and fluffy with plenty of flavoring, and the toppings are awesome. The only thing that would make it better is if they had some seating inside, sometimes it is raining and though there are umbrellas outside at the tables the rain likes to go sideways here and the chickens/birds love to catch anything that drops. Stop by here on a Saturday. Add to myself or angels ice cream, and assumed that they would carry their own brands of ice cream. They don't say that they use Dave's ice cream however, they absolutely do! I know this for a fact because I used to own one. Be known to me on how old the ice cream was , it was fairly dried out with ice particles in it. It wasn't melted and refresh, but it sure was not close to its freshness date. Possibly changes in its color indicated that it was an old batch. Ice cream scoop given to me, was fairly big however the prices are a factor to it. The soft serve given to me was plain vanilla. It had a milky taste to it, however also had an artificial taste to it. Maybe a powder consistency. Customer service here is all right. Not much interaction between work and customer. It did feel like they wanted me to hurry up and order and leave. Staff was great. Two friendly young ladies who were very on top of taking care of us (Saturday afternoon/evening 3/23/24). Kids and wife all got mint chocolate chip. I did as well with a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough as well. We all devoured the mint chocolate chip. The Choc chip cookie dough was just average at best. Very few bites of dough and mostly tasted like generic chocolate chip. Wouldn't stop me from heading back to Angel's just for the mint alone or to try any of the shaved ice varieties. Angel's Ice Cream is AMAZING and will be my new go-to for dessert every time I come back to visit. This is the best shave ice I've had on the island and it's my 4th in a week! You can choose any ice cream to add to your ice with an additional cost, I got Ube. We also had banana split where you can choose any flavors of ice cream and we got an ice cream cone with banana mac nut (absolutely amazing) and Kona mud pie. So we're doing our annual family trip & of course this year we're in Hawaii and staying in North Shore @ Turtle Bay Resort. I love this place and I know how popular it is with tourists but it is also a local favorite. I think angel's has been around since I was in High school (I could be wrong), but it's definitely a local family favorite. My family and friends down in Laie love it too. This is a hidden gem! When taking a drive up to the north shore along Kamehameha Hwy, you probably drove right by Angel's without knowing it. After a long day at the beach in the sun, my go to snack is shave ice. However if you're looking for other cold options, then Angel's is a must. It's located in the Laie shopping plaza right next to Subway and Foodland. Right now with COVID, they only allow 2 people in the store at a time. We had our two boys with us which they allowed. If your have to wait outside for others to order, you can peek through the glass to view as they have all kine options...shave ice, ice cream, smoothies, shakes. My favorite is the Dole Pineapple Float (Pineapple Soft Serve with Pineapple Juice) made famous at Dole Plantation. So refreshing! The staff is always friendly and after reading your order, they'll bring your order outside. With COVID, I always worry about food service workers wearing mask and gloves along with washing their hands after every order. From what I saw, the staff at Angel's changed their gloves and had their face covering on. So remember, check out Angel's on your way back into Kaneohe after a long hot day at the beach. Me and my friend went out for a sweet treat and ended up going here and getting shaved ice. Mine ended up being very good, I got vanilla, strawberry, and cherry, and my friend wanted passion fruit, strawberry colada, and guava. They gave her the right flavors but they overcharged by $2 and put whipped cream and condensed milk when she didn't ask for it. She is lactose intolerant and when she went back to say she didn't order that, the girl goes, "well next time don't order whipped cream on an angels halo" which is not what she ordered because we've never heard of that before. Hers also turned to soup immediately after she walked out the door. Will not be returning. read more
