Lappert's gets the ratio of mint and chocolate chips right. I don't like a ton of chocolate chips in every bite. The consistency and creaminess of the ice cream is what sets Lappert's apart. Best ice cream on Mau'i! We've been there twice since we've been here and we love it! Flavors were on point and so ono. I am an ice cream foodie and I'm pretty picky when it comes to ice cream so when I find a place I like, its one hundred percent going to be shared!! I love that there's good kine ice cream here. Ordered the brownie sundae with chocolate chip peanut butter & oreo crunch and a two scoop in a cup of kaua'i pie and coconut mac. nut fudge. No complaints at all and we loved it! I get it, we pay to stay in Wailea and with that our ice cream scoop will probably cost $10 bucks a pop too.. sure I get IT. However, it didn't taste good. Staff are not friendly, never smiled and were just on autopilot. Maybe they're fed up with the tourists in the area, but like you're in a high traffic tourist area? LOL The flavors are definitely unique that you probably should get samples of some to find which one you like. They do offer split scoops which is always a bonus and plenty for one person. Hard to say if this is a go-to place given that my preferred dessert in Hawai'i is shaved ice. This is a fun dessert spot at the shops of Wailea. We sampled a bunch of their ice cream flavors (all very good) before going with their winter sundae special. Lappert's ice cream is a big hit. They offer many flavors and they are very busy. Despite the lines being on the longer side, the service is pretty swift. I got the seasonal flavor, "campfire," and it was delicious. We also ordered the Oreo crunch and coconut pineapple which were also very good. Since this is a busy spot, I recommend eating outside in the open mall maker area. It's chill outside and the lights are pretty at night. This is location is in the Hilton Hawaiian Village, so just know going in it's going to be busy and full of tourists. It's noisy and chaotic here, but they are generous with their scoops and the line moves quickly. For house made ice cream my bar is set pretty high with McConnell's. Any flavor you get there is a solid 5. We had 4 in our group. Everyone but me went with the caramel coconut mac nut. Very good at first taste, but there were comments of "too sweet" after finishing. I had the ube haupia, two of my favorite flavors that paired nicely. It was very good and I enjoyed it. I ate it fairly quickly but the cone was pretty soggy when I got to it and that was disappointing. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I was walking in the area I'd stop in for some of that ube in a cup. read more

Prior to going here, we have read reviews and they were good. We were excited to visit. Plus, they had the flavors we were looking for. We walked in and the workers were just looking at us. My thing is, if a customer walks in, employees should greet the customers first. I was able to forego that. We got to the counter, we literally had to ask the lady for some samples unlike Island Cream Company where the employee asked us if we wanted to try any of the samples. The ice cream is good, creamy, a bit too much as far as sweetness is concerned. We got our ice cream and had to ask again where we can pay. The lady in the counter was not knowledgeable about coffee menu as we wanted to order some as well. We ended up not ordering coffee and went to Island Vintage Coffee next door instead. There are plenty of seatings inside and outside of the place. It's great that it's located by where they perform. Eating ice cream plus entertainment is always good. I would give this place a try again just to see if there are any improvements in customer service. Otherwise, I would not recommend this place. You guys are better off going to Island Vintage Coffee for coffee and Island Cream Company for some ice cream. read more

There was a small line but it moved very quickly and the three workers helping everyone were quick, attentive, and friendly. They had great flavors and it was hard to choose just 1-2. Went in to get some last minute ice cream before we left from our trip. The store was supposed to be open but wasn't for some reason. The manager walked outside and we politely asked when they would be opening. She charged off in a hurry saying angrily, "I DON'T KNOW!" When she returned a few minutes later, we politely asked again "do you know what time you'll be opening? Is there someone in charge we can ask?" She then yelled at us "I DONT KNOW! IM IN CHARGE! WE DONT HAVE WATER, OK!?" All she had to say was "we're having some issues right now, so not sure when we'll be able to open." Her anger and rudeness towards us was completely unwarranted and extremely disrespectful. We will not be returning and we'd recommend some customer service training. read more

Located in the shopping mall. Plenty of free parking. There is usually a line almost out the door. When you walk by you can smell the waffel cones and the ice cream. Its air conditioned inside to be able to get out of the heat for a moment. The customer service was ok, young adults doing there job but not really wanting to be there. The selection of ice cream flavors is great and they have a lot with cocnut or mac nut. We have been here a few times and the ice cream doesnt "wow" us. The waffel cone / bowl is almost stale.
