    Beef patty, mac and cheese

The beef patty coco bread and mac & cheese was flavorful, delicious, piping hot in a good way and 10 out of 10. Service was good, fast and attentive. The place looked really clean but it was hot in there. I will come back and try more food.

Wow, I did not expect Angies to be as good as it was! I managed to snag an order through Too Good To Go, so it was already a good value for money. My plate had curry chicken (flavorful & super tender- literally fall off the bone! also had carrots & potatoes), cabbage (still crunchy & had a nice mix of peas, corn, & carrots), and rice & beans. Good portion size. Service was fast. Ambiance is fine, a couple of indoor tables. There's a large parking lot. 10/10 would recommend!

This was my second time getting food from Angie's and the first time I had a phenomenal jerk pork sandwich but this time I got the brown stew chicken which was so delicious. The portions seemed heavy but it was mostly heavy on the rice and peas and the collards. I wished there was a bit more chicken. Either way the chicken was seasoned to the bone and the rice and peas was perfectly cooked.

Stumbled upon this place after searching for something to eat on google. I've heard about them but never been before. When we arrived it was packed inside. We ordered at the kiosk and waited in the car until we got our text message. Food was ready in about 20 minutes. Everything was fresh, hot, and sooo delicious. It's a family owned business and everyone was so nice. We ordered the oxtails for $26 and the curry goat for $19

A friend and I made a good-sized takeout order a few days before Christmas 2024. IT WAS AMAZING. I think we ended up with everything except snapper, and it was all delicious, and the ladies were very sweet and helpful. The oxtails and mac n cheese *might* have been the most popular overall, but everything was good, and I personally was a big fan of their goat curry. Delicious and very generous portions -- important when feeding a crowd! A+++!

Angies was my little secret for about 6 months and I completely forgot to review them. The first time I tried their food I immediately knew they were easily the best Caribbean spot in the Raleigh/Durham area. The food was SO good, portions were big, they are one of the only places with an actually great mac and cheese, and the staff was really friendly. The oxtail is so flavorful and has the perfect amount of everything. They are my favorite oxtails I have tried at a restaurant here actually. The rice is also so good- it is cooked in coconut water and has such a good flavor to it that goes with the food. However this past time I ordered I did not taste it so I'm not sure if they stopped doing that. The rasta pasta is just as good as everyone says. It's definitely enough to split between 2-3 meals or people, and they are very generous with how much oxtail they give you. The whole dish was a 10000/10. Recently, Angies went viral, which is great for them! I would give them some grace as it is probably hard to handle this amount of traffic now. The restaurant used to be fairly empty, they always answered the phone, and the food came out fast. This past weekend I placed an order online and it told me it would take 45 minutes, then when coming in 45 minutes later it took an additional 31 minutes. They also never picked up my calls when I kept trying to check in with how much longer it would take. The restaurant was extremely packed. Also, I ordered curry chickpeas and got curry chicken. I didn't realize until I got home unfortunately. If you want to eat here now I recommend really planning for it but I think the food is well worth it.

This place is the truth for Jamaican Cuisine in Durham, NC... I was there this pass weekend for a soul line dance event. My friend Reka had ordered for delivery to our hotel the exact plate in photo and shared it with me on Friday night... well my last day before flying back to San Diego California I decided I had to stop by and get the exact same plate for dine in. OMG Angie's food is consistently delish... They are truly Jamaican... she had her family in there work... roti, plantain, patties, rice and peas to name a few.... Will definitely return to this spot for delicious Jamaican meal....i even had leftovers for late night meal after I returned home

We came in for a to-go order and had the curry chickpeas and curry chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I really loved the flavorful chicken and chickpeas. The rice tasted like coconut milk. The staff was really friendly, the restaurant was clean and I thought the portions were generous.

    Jerk chicken and curry chicken

Angie's needs some more yelp reviews to do it justice. Came for the first time today and I can assure you that it won't be the only time! The service was spectacular. The young lady at the register always made sure everyone's wants were accommodated for even when running low on a certain dish. I ordered the curry chicken and was generously given two jerk chicken legs because the chicken in the curry was running low. I was secretly so happy to be able to try both and I can't pick a favorite! The ambience is nice and simple. Not really set up for indoor dining, but that's ok, because this food at home makes for the perfect night in.

I used their kiosk inside to order for takeaway. I got the Oxtail with rice and beans, and my friend got the goat curry! I was recommended to get extra sauce with Oxtail and it was the correct move. The meat fell off the bone and was juicy! The goat was a bit too salty for my liking, but it still had a lot of flavor.

    Joy C.

I've been hearing great things about the oxtail from Angie's and now I know why people are rushing to get some before they sell out. The oxtail with rice and peas (with extra gravy) is a must order. Honestly, the curry goat and the jerk chicken were not far behind in terms of flavor and tenderness. The sauce that they put over the jerk chicken was incredible! And I KNOW, how y'all feel about Jamaican's Mac and cheese but I was pleasantly surprised by Angie's Mac and cheese. Lastly, I loved the beef patties, which I'm kind of a snob about because I can't stand a barely filled beef patty. I can't wait to go back and try more from them. P.S. this storefront is right next to a DMV so don't be alarmed if you see a line outside if you go during the afternoon.

Located in the same strip mall as the Durham DMV, Angie's Jamaican Food is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition!! I came by for lunch on a weekday and the place was totally empty. There is limited seating (only small two seater tables though they can certainly be pieced together) but the restaurant is clean and spacious. Love the plants and wall art! Service was polite and fast. We got the oxtail with mac n cheese and rice and peas. This was pricy but phenomenal. I don't order oxtail much but this was the tastiest oxtail I've ever had at a restaurant. Generous portions, rich sticky sauce, and meat so tender it falls off the bone. Not a drop of sauce went to waste, absorbed by the rice and peas, which had the perfect fluff and chew. The mac and cheese was flavorful and the noodles weren't too mushy. I don't know if it was worth the extra $ to me, but it was delicious nonetheless. We also ordered the large jerk chicken with cabbage and rice and peas. The chicken was well cooked and SO well seasoned, and paired so well with the coconut-y cabbage and the rice. They put what felt like a whole chicken in that plate, it was so heavy. I also ordered a beef patty. It was a good size and very flavorful, though it was less flaky than I expected. Still, I liked the soft and tasty filling. I'm so sad I didn't discover this place earlier! I'll definitely be back to try their other plates.

"Delicious Honduran food just south of I-85 on Guess Rd in Durham"…read more Came here on a Saturday evening a little after 6pm-- this is the building that used to be "Pad Thai" a few years ago. There's parking out front, but not a ton, and a bit more along the side. Inside, there's a counter by the door with a register and mints (and probably where one would pickup takeout), but you wait to get seated. The place was bright with interesting Central American paintings and lively music. A few tables were taken but it was hardly what I'd call "busy". I ordered the Tajada con carne molida (fried plantains with ground beef) off the "Honduran menu". My dining partner had a creamy chicken mofongo. We also had Jarritos sodas-- I got the pineapple and she had the tamarind. One awkwardness was that the menu didn't have any prices, but I assumed (correctly) that nothing would be crazy expensive that we ordered (though weirdly the tamarind and pineapple Jarritos were different prices). Service was good-- although English was a second language, our server made do, accurately took our order, and was attentive. As other reviewers noted, this is not a speedy place-- I think it was at or maybe over 20 minutes to get our food, but that was fine. Both dishes were really good. The creamy sauce on the mofongo was to-die-for... so yummy. And I enjoyed my plantain/ beef dish-- my dining partner said it was somewhat analogous to "nachos" in a funny way, and she's not wrong. The plantains were pretty stiff-- almost like plantain chips, but still yummy, and the beef and accompaniments were excellent (see photo). The quantity was HUGE-- both of us had enough easily for a second meal. Price wasn't bad-- with the drinks and tax and tip, it was slightly over $50 total. Overall, I'm very happy we tried this place, and I have every intention of coming back.

I love how they had a lot of drink options, including fountain drinks, and special lemonades. We got here on the late side for lunch, and found there to be several different options for ordering. You could wait in line and order with a cashier, you could do a self service kiosk, or you could order from a QR code at a table. We ended up grabbing a table and opting to do it with a QR code. Everything was very clear, and I like that they showed what was popular immediately. I opted for a Boricua Soul Bowl, which I'd sampled during a food tour a few years back- then I tried it with chicken, so today I opted for shrimp. I feel like you really should go with pork since that's the default, and a mainstay of Puerto Rican cuisine and soul food, but alas I have an aversion to pork so I can't. I was also intrigued by the jackfruit option- there's something for everyone! My husband went for a platter with pork, which he said was delicious and rich. The Mac and cheese was amazing, and the collards were to DIE FOR! They have four house made sauces, which were a very fun way to add different flavors (I doused mine in Guava!). Since I've now been, I understand that there are many different methods of ordering, but I'm not sure I understand if there's a benefit or staff preference to one over another. I think one thing I might do in the future is order online (if you're using Toast Tab anyway, might as well order in advance) and then sit outside after I arrive. It took about 30 minutes to get our food, which probably means everything is made to order and fresh (as opposed to sitting around) so that's great, but I was STARVING by the time we got our food. Will definitely be back!

It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

With their big lunch boxes, and delicious food, Jamaica Jamaica got me hooked on Jamaican/Caribbean food and I consider it one of my favorite cuisines. I'd say my Jamaica Jamaica life could be split into 3 segments, in which I would always get the same thing no matter what. My first phase was the curry chicken - such a fantastic dish with chicken that came off the bone, a vibrant curry sauce, and potatoes and carrots to round out the dish. When you paired it with rice, cabbage and plantains, it was an almost perfect meal. My second phase was the curry shrimp, I was always enticed by having a seafood option. The flavors of the curry shrimp were the same as the curry chicken, except the vegetables varied. I enjoyed this dish too, but I would say the biggest issue would be that the shrimp sometimes got really soft after sitting out for some time. My current phase is their Jerk chicken. I would say that their Jerk chicken is unique because they make the chicken, but they let it sit in a sauce that soaks up the seasoning. This is a great topper for my rice, but I think it contributes to the fact that the Jerk chicken is definitely not as flavorful as I know it to be. It misses the mark on bringing the heat, it has some flavor and heat but it is very very mild in my opinion. Generally speaking, I would be aware of the Jerk chicken drying out. This has happened to me on an occasion or two, along with the rice being dry too. Outside the realm of food, I would say the interior could use a little work. The furniture is a bit dated and things are cluttered. However, the staff working there is nice and they always pack the food in a big to-go container, so you can bring it back to the office, and then home because they are not shy about the portions. Glad that hasn't changed!
