Lemon pepper wings, yam souffle, baked mac and cheese, turkey and pinto beans, and banana pudding.
    Kassim C.

What I recommend: Lemon pepper wings, yam souffle, baked mac and cheese, turkey and pinto beans, and banana pudding. Let's Eat Soul Food might look unassuming, but it's some of the best southern food in Durham. The portions are big, prices are great, and every bite tastes homemade. It reminds me of my grandma's cooking. I've eaten here plenty of times and never take photos because I can't wait to dig in. This place is a true gem.

Fried Chicken Wings Combo with 1 Side

Was close to this location and called in an order. We got the wing combo with a side of turkey collards and a fried fish sandwich. The food was ready when we got there and the line moved quickly. The place was very small inside but the staff were nice. The fried chicken and collards were good but they could have kept that overly fried fish.

Came across this place last night via yelp of course, as i was looking for something to eat at almost 10 pm. This was only 5 minutes from where i was so i decided to give it a try because i love wings. It is placed in a shopping center. You have to walk up, as it is legit a window and order your food. There was a slight line that moved fairly quickly. They have soul food and typical late night eats options. I ordered the 6 wing entree (hot honey) with fries, and a peach lemonade, and my sister ordered the whiting entree with collard greens. The wings were pretty good as the flavor was there. The fries were not good at all. The whiting was very tiny compared to most I've seen and lacked flavor. The greens were super salty. The menu has so much potential, but the execution just wasn't there. The hushpuppies were not it. The peach lemonade, however, was amazing lol. I would've given at least one more star, but my sister got someone else's order and we had to wait a while for her actual food to be remade, as I'm sure it was given to someone else.

    Potato Salad was good.

This place was ok. I had the meatloaf with rice and hush puppies. Small portions for what they charge. That meatloaf was good.

Let's Eat Soulfood -- The Late Night Window -- Menu
    Ivan C.

Y'all...this is the spot. I think I searched for "open late" while I was near BK and this place came up right down the street. There wasn't anything but the menu and a 2009 Google StreetView for a picture, but the parent restaurant being called "Let's Eat Soulfood" and them having a chili cheeseburger on the menu, I had to check them out. I think it was about 11:00 at night when I pulled up. It's in a relatively dark parking lot, but they have lights along the storefront. If you're from the suburbs, it might sketch you out some; but I'm telling you -- it's worth it. This is not fast food by any means. It's made-to-order, so it might be a minute to get yours if there's people who ordered ahead of you. I think they take call-ins, but I won't be the one to promise you that it makes anything happen quicker. Despite that, it's also to be expected; from the curb, it looked like they only had 1+1 working. Patience is a virtue. Bro at the window was cool. Polite, and was a good host. Now, the food: I don't know what I was really expecting, trying a chili cheeseburger from a hole-in-the-wall spot -- but what I can tell you is that the flavor was on point. Yesterday I wouldn't have told you I was a fan of a chili cheeseburger, but I would today. I'll have to come back and try some of the other things on their menu I thought were interesting; but if I gotta have a go-to while I'm working in Durham, I'd definitely grab another chili cheeseburger.

Made to order with really short wait times, I would hardly recommend this restaurant if you got a taste for great soul food! Great service with a half dozen tables to sit at right there on Fayetteville and Burlington I forgot vinegar on my greens. lol

Oxtail, rice and peas, cabbage, plantains and mac
    Tiff T.

I picked up a Togo order here and it was delicious. They do have indoor seating and a parking lot. had an oxtail plate and Oreo cake on Caribbean Sunday. I think that prices are decent for the portions served. I can't speak too much on service since I ordered pickup, but our order was ready when we arrived.

Fried Okra, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Chicken and Dumplings, and Cornbread
    Leo B.

Their food is bomb. I never had fried okra with so much flavor and crisp to perfection. Cornbread was like heaven. My whole order was $16 and it's enough for lunch and dinner. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating so even when it's rush hour you'll probably find a seat. Definitely get the cornbread.

These are the baked chicken wings they have!

10/10 chicken wings and the BEST potato salad and yes it's sweet! The service was 10/10! Fast & Hot Food for sure! You can eat in with your family or just take it to go! Nice sitting areas and located in a convient area.

Nerra is at 506 Ramseur Street, Durham, NC. Get a reservation. Don't show up hoping. We went for a belated Father's Day, a week late, because my wife and son let the date slip past them. They'll deny it. I know better. And I'm not actually upset about it, because if they'd remembered, we'd have missed this. We started the night with the Baker's Flight (pumpernickel, cheddar rosemary biscuits, cornbread, house butters). The pastries were excellent. The butter was something else entirely. I asked for 8oz to take home, which is not a thing I do. I don't need more butter in my life. Seriously. But this butter was coming home wiht me regardless. Our entries: Shrimp and Grits (built on stone-milled grits with jumbo shrimp, spinach, seared peppers, smoked gouda and parmesan, under a Cajun cream sauce). Number two, the Sun-Fire Jerk Chicken (bone-in, braised and marinated, with fried plantains, island jerk sauce, jasmine rice, and a salsa). Lastly: The Whole Roasted Fish (Snapper this particular night, with spinach, tomatoes, citrus caper, and roasted potatoes). Each dish was spectacular. As if not enough, we still ordered dessert. Mama Made, we were told. Cheesecake and a Chocolate Brownie with ice cream. I'm not going to lie here and say either were shared. Somewhere about this time I was doing math in my head of how we could come to Nerra on a weekly basis. Seriously, I was. The Chef came by the table. The Chef's Mama came by too. Our server, Andrea, did the kind of work that doesn't get talked about enough. Andrea was attentive without hovering, present without performing. Andrea should take some time to right the manual on how to take care of a table and party, cause she's a master at it. If none of this moves you, I don't think I can do more for you here. If it does, you already know you're booking a reservation in the next 30 minutes. We are absolutely going back. The only question is how often I can make that happen without rearranging our entire budget. I'm working on it.

I'm no beignet expert, but Seraphine's are much closer to fried whole wheat bread dusted with powdered sugar than the light, donut-like dessert you'd hope for. Unappetizing, frankly. We ordered their spicy fra diavolo which was packed to the brim with calamari rings! If you don't believe me, take a look at my picture for proof. After 10 minutes of digging through the pasta, I still managed to find 10 calamari rings, lol. No complaints here though! Just surprised at how bountiful the calamari rings were for the pasta. The sauce wasn't spicy, despite the name stating so, and was sufficient to coat each strand of pasta noodle. As for our second dish, how can we NOT get fried seafood?! So, we decided to go for their combo for any two items. We were pleasantly impressed with the size of the battered catfish. It was MASSIVE! The shrimp, on the other hand, wasn't anything special. Quite small. Not really juicy. If calamari was an option for this combo, we'd definitely go for it! Seasoning was a little salty, but the breading was nice and crispy. Not burnt tasting or oily, and complimented well with the cocktail and tartar sauce. Fries were normal, but quite small in portion. For $30, I'd imagine either a little more fries if shrimps are only 6 pieces, along with a piece of catfish. Food was pretty good! I can't speak for service because I did take out, but it seemed okay. The inside was really clean and had lots of tables! Maybe I'll bring my friends the next time they come visit here.
