Extremely rude and unprofessional. Told my mom and I that we couldn't buy a cat due to the fact that 4 years ago a cat that we bought from them had sadly died from what we think was from a hawk. LAUGHED in our face after my mom said the cat had a good life then continued to tell us that the cat didn't have a good life and made us seem like terrible cat owners. I am honestly surprised that the employee Monique is still in hire due to her terrible attitude. Hopefully the cat we walked in to adopt finds a nice family because clearly we were not good enough for them. Refused to help and turned me down with one of my cats that were dying who ended up dying 30 minutes later , I then had no choice but to go back again after my other cat was in labor and dying and I was once again refused and she passed away I lost both of my cats because all the vets in Columbus ga or incompetent assholes , this place especially and the staff are horrible people , I don't know how you can work at an animal rescue but hate animals , yall are fucking sick ! read more

Adopted the sweetest kitten known to man, took her to the Dr. and she had an eye infection that needed drops, she had worms, and she had a bit of congestion. We addressed all of these issues and got the proper medications for each. Then two weeks after adopting my kitten (the day after Christmas) she had a string of seizures that caused her to have to be put down. The vet said that blood work would not necessarily pinpoint what was going on with her and she had neurological damage that caused her to walk in circles and that he said her quality of life would not be good at all. When I brought this to the attention of Animal Ark they offered no help and barely a "sorry". Terribly unimpressed with this organization. read more

If I could give them a minus zero I would do so...I never imagined being mistreated the way that I was mistreated just because I was interested in a particular puppy. On a Saturday I hurried to see the puppy because they do not like to answer their phones, I got their, spent time bonding with the puppy, fell in love because I've been looking for a puppy like this for long time due to my depression, anxiety and loneliness in my home. I had to retire early because of a illness called lupus struck my body, and I felt I needed a dog to get me through days, I'm very use to dogs because i grew up w/them. I went back Monday to adopt, the lady asked rudely did I put in my application, i told her twice, she acted like she couldn't find them, she then walked in the back where the dogs were, 10 min later she said with a smile the a lady in South Carolina paid for the puppy so its on hold until she can pick up. I asked her earlier before that if I paid for the puppy first could they keep her for a week until I return because I couldn't canceled my plane ticket, she hollered at me stating this not a boarding place, once you pay they have to leave so we can make room. But you kept this puppy for someone in South Carolina without even knowing when will they come???? I cried in my car all the way home because I really loved that puppy. read more

Although it has been a while since we have taken our sweet Phoebe out to this shelter for a nail cutting for just a donation.... I usually give $10 and this is significantly less than if we have it done at Petsmart. Staff is kind courteous and job is done quickly. Phoebe likes to go here as opposed to Petsmart, which makes her nervous. When your pet needs a nail trimming please consider this location as they could certainly use the donation. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would! I came in knowing exactly what dog I wanted. The lady telling me that my home isn't suitable for the puppy! She found every reason to tell me why I wasn't the perfect match for this puppy! I live in a 3 bdrm apt with plenty of outside space for the puppy (a blue heeler). I also have parents that own plenty of land for out pets to run around and have a great time. But that's not the point , this b*tch is useless and just sits at the desk and points around. Not welcoming or guide friendly at all! I spent most of my time rambling around the facility searching for animals to visit bc the puppy I wanted was in quarantine. The facility is a hot mess. The dogs that are kept outside are living in a mess. There were only 2 guys there that were helpful in helping me around. I told her I would come back to visit him as soon as he is released because I really wanted him to be apart of our family. She wouldn't take my number or put me on waiting list because I was sure I wasn't the only one who wanted this puppy. I came back Tuesday after I told he would be released. She tells me that he's already adopted. I know it's first come first serve but I would have liked to get a courtesy call beforehand. read more

I was very reluctant to do this review but after the way I was treated by the director when I called regarding a very injured puppy a family member adopted and was lied to about, I no longer can stay quiet. The director has hung up on us and ignored voice mail and e mails requesting the puppies prior medical records. I cannot explain how someone who has been acknowledged as being a wonderful advocate for animals decides To ignore and neglect a puppy in her shelter. Please everyone beware. I know these animals need help but you cannot lie about medical conditions and expect unsuspecting young animal lovers to take on such a financial burden with no warning or information. The dog was adopted by a young couple who were told it was a birth defect. If only it was just a birth defect and no a neglected fracture All we asked the director to do was cooperate with us in getting the best care we can for the puppy. We recently adopted two kittens from animal ark. The people inside are nice, but I found that they were not very knowledgeable. When I took the kittens to the vet, I found that they had not kept accurate health records. I was told that one of my kittens had been put on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection (which had cost her the use of an eye - which we did know about). Although what they told me was probably correct, unfortunately, there was no record of what kind of antibiotic, the dosage, or for how long the kitten was treated. As a result, I am having to start a new course from the beginning. I understand that they operate to keep animals from the "kill shelter" and all, but if they are so overpopulated that they are not able to keep accurate health records and do the proper care on the animals that they ARE able to rescue, then they probably need to scale back a little. I would rather see quality of care in the animals they do serve over quantity of animals rescued - I think they could definitely make improvements in this area, which would help them move toward modernizing they way that they operate, and probably without increasing what is sure to be a very stretched budget. read more

I was looking for a beagle puppy and they had a beagle mix. However the staff is really nice and they have a huge selection to choose from. This was my first animal shelter I went into so didn't know what to expect. However the animals had a lot of space to move around and they all looked health and well fed. I would recommend this place as a place to look for a new pet. read more

The animal ark rescue helped us find the 2 newest members of our family. We adopted 2 Manx kittens from them and couldn't be happier. The facilities are large, and surprisingly good smelling compared to other animal places. The staff is very nice and helpful. I believe most of the staff are volunteers and you can see their love and devotion to the animals. They had many animals and encouraged us to look around and keep an open mind. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask to visit with the animals in the front room. They have a dedicated space available for getting to know the different animals before adopting them. The adoption fee included spaying or neutering and micro chipping. For a place that runs solely on donations they do amazing things! read more

This place has saved over 11,000 lives on a shoestring budget since 2012. Those animals have been saved from euthanasia. The available funds who solely come from donations are being spent on the animals not the building. The place is packed full of animals so their lives can be saved. Someone commented that it is run down, not realizing there is no money for fancy floors or sophisticated ventilation system. Any furniture you see is donated, used, or repurposed. I have fostered many dogs for Animal Ark and never had any problem. We as volunteers come together to save the animals. We sign a contract to be a foster. If the animal needs veterinary care, we contact the shelter. The contract states that if you take the dog to a vet you cannot be reimbursed. Fostering for Animal Ark has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience. "No Kill" is what Animal Ark is working for. It cannot do this without the support of the community. read more

All Animal Ark did was break my grand children's hearts. I looked at a dog with my grandkids on the 16th of March 2020, filled out the paperwork and was told the needed to see the vet on Wednesday and I could pick her up Friday morning. I went over Friday morning and the dog had been adopted. The girl at the counter looked me straight in the face that Monday and lied like a low life, she did not sat there was a waiting list, just pick the dog up on Friday. I talked to the manager and she was programmed to say this is a private organization twice. Apparently the manager doesn't care what goes on in her facility. All I know is they broke my grandkids hearts and they didn't give a dam. Shame on them. read more

Animal Ark has been a complete nightmare to work with. I adopted a dog about a month ago. When we first saw her we noticed her leg looked unusual however we were assured it was a birth defect and caused her no pain whatsoever. After bringing her to the vet and getting X-rays we come to find out it is a fractured leg that did not heal properly. I called the director, Sabine, who apologized profusely and admitted that there was no documentation indicating it was a birth defect and that I was given false information. My dog is going to require a surgery that is going to cost an estimated $3700 and she is going to be confined in a crate for 2-4 months. I called Sabina to inform her of the cost of the surgery and she was extremely rude to me and changed her story. She is now claiming she has documentation saying it is a birth defect. I merely asked her to provide me with those records and she hung up on me, and is now not returning my phone calls. Rosie has had surgery and is having some trouble with swelling and managing infection post-op. This rescue does not care about the welfare of the animals after they leave their facility. I have never been spoken to or treated with such disrespect. Please steer clear of this rescue! There are much more reputable and professional rescues out there! read more

I've been into Animal Ark multiple times. I even have adopted a dog from them, but today, I went in with a friend and her daughter to look at puppies, as my friend was going to get one for her daughter as a surprise later. Staff was very rude after telling them we weren't looking to adopt today, but simply looking for the near future. When playing with a puppy that, I assume, a newer staff brought into us, another staff came in and snatched the puppy away and told us because we weren't adopting we couldn't see the puppy. Afterwards, we spoke to a woman at the front who then explained that they "aren't a play place." Hopefully they treat their animals with more respect than their prospects. We will not be coming back for any adoption inquiries. read more

My husband and I have had the WORST time dealing with animal ark. They are extremely rude, and never return emails or phone calls when you have a problem with a pet you've adopted. We also found a kitten on the highway and took it to animal ark. The lady at the desk basically told us to figure it out because they can't help us. They didn't have any compassion at all. They also gave us quite a bit of time to sit with the cats before adopting (which was great since we weren't sure we'd find a good fit being that we wanted an older cat and most of them were pretty young). read more

They didn't rush me at all, they gave me & my dog I already owned plenty of time to get comfortable with the new dog before making the decision. I'm so thankful for what they do for these animals. Very dirty! Staff is extremely rude! Waited almost 5 minutes at the desk before even being noticed! Had adopted a cat from there who ended up being vicious and clawing our baby. Let me first start by saying that I answered an urgent cry for help with Animal Ark when their roof started leaking around 1/2/2019. They were looking for fosters for the dogs in that area. They had a senior Corgi/heeler mix that needed a foster. So I go up there fill out the paperwork and receive Minnie. The lady that brought Minnie to me told me she was heartworm positive and gave me the meds that she was currently on. As soon as I put her in my truck the smell hit me. She was covered in feces and urine. Which when I walked into Animal Ark I noticed a horrible smell but I chalked it up to the amount of water damage. I take her to the clinic I work at to get a bath and a check up before I took her home to my crew. There was so much urine and red clay on her I thought she was completely orange but it turns out she had white on her! Of course me being a tech with a big heart I do blood work and take her home. The next day the doctor informs me that she has heart disease and renal insufficiency and not to mention she is incontinent. So I immediately start her on meds and take her home. I have her for 7 weeks and they demand I bring her back. I tried to negotiate her adoption since I had already put so much time and money into making her a healthy part of my family. But Animal Ark was not hearing that. As they advertise for $25 adoptions they tell me that Minnie's adoption is $150. A little confused I arrange a meeting to discuss the adoption of Minnie. When I take her back to meet with someone in charge I meet with Angela Wilkinson. She was absolutely rude and told me that she couldn't do anything to lower her adoption fee. She then looks at the kennel tech and hands her Minnie's meds and paperwork and says to her " this is for you I don't have time to deal with this". As they go to take her from me she jumps up and gives me a hug like she did every day. I had to tell her it was ok and walk away from her. These people are definitely in it for the money and not for the animals. They would rather have her back and have another mouth to feed as they are begging for food donations than to leave her in a loving home. Please think twice before using this rescue. read more

I love the place and the friendly animals but the staff made me feel very uncomfortable. They make you feel judged and are very nonsupportive of the volunteers and adoption process here. I would not recommend coming to this place based off of the costumer service. I was disappointed to say that this was such a bad experience for everyone involved. I would not trust the people who work at The Ark Animal Rescue especially the director Sabine. Even if you are promised a dog and completed the paper work it means nothing. Make sure you get everything writing and if transportation arrangements are required make them yourself. Place is terrible adopted a cat from them had to bring it back because it was attacking my girlfriend's daughter. Paid the "surrender fee" they then claimed that the cat didn't come from them and had to be taken elsewhere. My daughter & I went into Animal Ark to look at dogs today & although I can say I was not planning on adopting TODAY, Ive been looking for a dog as a surprise for my 3 year old. This is my second time coming into Animal Ark & they were VERY rude both times . The first time not as bad. The younger woman that worked there was helpful. When she came in with the application I let her know I was only looking at the moment & when she left not two minutes later a lady came in & snatched the dog up & said if I wasnt adopting today we couldnt play with the dog. I was just stunned at the attitude I was given & went to the front desk where I asked another woman why couldn't play with the dog & VERY rude as well she said this isnt a "PLAY PLACE". Im new at looking around for dogs as this will be mine & my daughter's first time owning one so I wanted it to be special. I will NOT EVER recommend anyone here, neither will I ever step foot into Animal Ark again. Im just upset because the dog we were looking at was said to be really happy to be out of the kennel, so I'm guessing they dont play with animals either & I even thought about getting him. I feel bad for the animals & I really think they should get new staff members thats actually care about the animals. read more
