    Columbus Boarding and Training

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to take a tour of Columbus Boarding and Training…read more A visually exquisite example of a canine boarding and training facility, I would be happy to board my dogs. As a veterinarian of many years and a passionate dog mom, I am extremely picky about the handling and care of my fur babies. The facility is beautiful and CLEAN! They promise frequent activity of their residents. They work with you to comply with special nutritional needs, supplied by you. I also totally agree with their requirement to have your dog (s) spend a 1/2 day boarding ( daycare) to see how they acclimate and how their temperament is, prior to boarding your dogs. In Florida, my boarding facility had the same requirements and my shepherd was happy to go and was bright, alert when I went to pick her up. Therefore when she was boarding, she was relaxed about the experience. The reason for four stars instead of five is because, I haven't boarded my shepherds yet. Visually this facility deserves a five star. I hope and believe, that after my shepherds stay there, it will be totally a five star facility.

Our other pup is a 2.5 year old Pit Shepherd mix who is very high energy. Normally when I bring my yorkie mix to someone to watch in their home she barks consistently and will not eat hardly if any because of her separation anxiety. I was very concerned leaving her somewhere where there were other dogs and she wouldn't have the one on one care she usually gets when we are out of town. The pit mix is excited about everything and is just excited to exist so I knew he would have a good time regardless. Izzy was amazing! She listened to my concerns and found an area where they could be boarded separately but still be together. They were in two separate kennels that shared a wall so they could comfort one another. I would have had them boarded together but the younger one always presses the older to play and she can only take so much even though she's very attached to him. Izzy showed me pictures of our yorkie sleeping on her back stomach up which she only does when she's very comfortable and happy! She also told me that our yorkie ate every day she was there. She didn't finish her food the first day but I was so shocked she ate all her food every day after that. Normally when we pick them up from anywhere they run to us so happy to see us. This time they seemed happy to see us but it was almost like I was picking the kids up from camp. They weren't overwhelmingly happy to see us as if they had a good time. Our Pit mix even greeted one of of the groomers Bryan before greeting us I can not thank Izzy or the Columbus Boarding and Training facility enough for taking care of my pups and for making a very stressful situation so much easier. I even received them bathed and smelling fresh for no extra charge. Thank you again

Absolutely Horrible Experience. Do Not Recommend…read more I boarded my dogs at 2nd Home Pet Resort through our vet's website, 2nd Avenue. I didn't realize this facility wasn't located at the actual vet's office. If I had noticed that detail, I never would have chosen this place. That part is on me. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a nightmare. I was told I would receive daily report cards and photos. I only received two photos on one day, and that only happened after I called three times asking for updates. After that, I received nothing for the rest of their stay. It felt like my dogs were being completely ignored. They were supposed to get a morning treat every day. They only received two out of the five days. On pickup day, they were supposed to eat around noon. I arrived at 5 p.m. to find out they still had not been fed. Their bedding was soaked in urine and covered in feces. Their treat bags had bite marks all over them like they had been left out and a dog got into them. To top it off, we provided an entire jar of calming chews, and it was not returned to us. It was disgusting and heartbreaking. Since coming home, my dogs have not been acting like themselves. I truly believe they were neglected and possibly traumatized while in this facility's care. I am sick over it. I would never recommend 2nd Home Pet Resort to anyone. No animal deserves to be treated like this, and honestly, this place should be shut down.

Our daughter was graduating from Fort Benning and we traveled from IL with her fur baby. Ami helped us by keeping him during the ceremony so we could attend. We met her when we dropped off our daughter six weeks before. What first impressed us was that she was the only groomer in Columbus we contacted that wanted to meet our pup to make sure it was a good fit. We really appreciated that and knew she really cared about her animals and making sure they were all safe and not stressed. She kept him for an hour giving us time to go eat while they got acquainted. He did amazing and they were all so incredibly nice. Then, on graduation day, she came in earlier than her posted hours so we could attend the ceremony on time. He loved his time there and we felt so relieved to have a safe and loving place for him to be while we were away. Especially in an area we are not from or familiar with. It could not have gone better!! Her facility is well cared for, everyone working there is over the top friendly and it is clear they love what they do. We are so thankful for Ami and all of her help! We highly recommend Yuppy Puppy Grooming Salon and Doggy Hotel!

Northridge Veterinary Center has taken care of everything: her vaccines and rabies shots, spay procedure, annual check- ups, and even boarding her when I travel. The staff is always so kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring. Not just toward my dog but towards me as well. They communicate clearly, answer any questions I may have, and always make me feel confident that my dog is in good hands. It is such a comforting feeling knowing she's being cared for by people who are not only knowledgeable but also truly happy to be there. I am so grateful for the love and attention they've given her over the years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND The only downside is that they can be a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of care and peace of mind they provide makes it worth it for me.

We had a wonderful experience with Northridge with our English Bulldog and her journey with cancer…read more So when we adopted another dog, we took her to Northridge. One morning she had a medical episode that was an absolute emergency. I called the vet to rush her in and was told I could bring her in within 30 minutes. (Yea - you need an appointment in an emergency.) After about 20 minutes of evaluation, I was told to take her to the Auburn ER. It was 10am. And Auburn ER is an hour away. I DESPERATELY with I had questioned this because it was only 10am and my dog was in medical distress and Auburn is a long drive. She died on the way. I took her into Auburn ER anyway. And they looked her body over and said they believe she had anaphylactic shock. Which is treatable by a vet. So they asked me multiple times who sent me and why did they send me all the way to Auburn? Insinuating that my vet should have recognized the symptoms and treated her. This was a traumatizing experience. And I daily ask myself why didn't I question driving that far with a dog in medical distress. We have taken our new dog to our previous vet. Who in a situation with one of our English Bulldogs, chose to evaluate her for several hours before sending me to Auburn, only because heart issues are a specialty.
