I've had the pleasure of using Animal Care Center for non-urgent issues over the years. The first time was about five years ago when my cat stopped using the litter box. After trying multiple solutions at home without success, we brought her in to see Dr. Singh. He thoroughly evaluated her and determined there were no medical concerns--it was behavioral. We eventually realized she was being bullied by another cat in the household, made the necessary adjustments, and the issue gradually resolved. More recently, we brought in our senior cat for a comprehensive wellness exam (who lost weight). Dr. Singh completed a full workup, including bloodwork and a urinalysis, which revealed the need for more advanced evaluation with an internal medicine specialist. Dr. Singh is direct, thorough, and thoughtful in his approach. He asked detailed questions--including whether our cat may have been exposed to anything at home--and clearly communicated the urgency of seeking specialized care. Dr Singh is a great vet. He is very experienced and always puts my nervous German Shepherd at ease. I drive across town to see him because he is honest, caring, and treats animals and people with respect. I have a vet near my home but she insists that my dog takes sedatives prior to the visit and wears a muzzle while in the office. Because of this, I appreciate the experience and calm demeanor of Dr Singh even more and will always come back to his office for my dogs needs. Beyond pleased with our visit. My girl got a foxtail stuck in her ear this morning and I spent all morning calling around to clinics who either were completely booked or asking over $200 just to see her. After hearing that she was a GSD/pit mix one clinic even told me she would need to be muzzled before she could come in. Very frustrating. Animal Care Center was willing to squeeze her in last minute and charged a $80 exam fee, and I believe the baseline for foxtail removal was $100, plus $166 for large dog anesthesia. Thankfully the staff and the vet were very kind and honest, and they were able to remove her foxtail quickly with no anesthesia or restraints and only charged me $50 for the removal because they were able to do it quickly. They were so gentle with her and the vet was friendly and didn't try to upsell me on anything, and that's pretty rare in my experience. It seems he's truly in it for the love of the animals. I will definitely be going back her for all of my dogs' shots and future procedures. Longtime pet owners know how difficult it is to find an honest fair vet who does it for the animals and not the money, and I'm very very thankful that they were able to help her today. Doctor Singh is a great vet. He doesn't ever press you for unneeded procedure. If it was up to him he'd be a holistic doctor thus, If you ask about something specific he will tell you about it and give his opinion in your circumstance. Such as dental cleaning. Over Belle's 15 years we've had it done 2 or 3 times. Just to prevent gum disease. We do brush regularly, but tarter still builds up. Until recently he never suggested a speciality food or doctor prescribed food. It wasn't until she got really sick last December and was diagnosed with kidney disease did we switch to Kidney food. It seemed to do the trick. It took time, but she recovered. Gained her weigh back, and stopped having symptoms. He is always patient and kind an personally spends time with his patients. He always does blood draws and shots in the room with you. This really helps me fee confidant that my pup isn't in pain and screaming it's happening. My pup doesn't look forward to shots, or blood draws, at the same time the skill and patience taken to do those thing by Dr. Singh has us coming back even after I moved out of town. The drive is worth it to get the care we het from Dr. Singh. As for Covid, it's been great. They call you wen it's your turn and you are the only one in the lobby and exam room. I think the bathrooms are closed at this time, but it's not like you are there that long that you couldn't have planned ahead. We haven't had a problem scheduling appointments. If it's an emergency he makes time and if you call back the next day, you may be shocked like we were that someone canceled and we got right in. He has day and evening appointments and Saturday appointments. It's been great. We've been able to go after work since we've been working from home. There schedules really give flexibility. Another perk, if you have a test, such as blood work, he'll call you back himself to give you the results no matter what they are and he will answer questions. I've been bringing my German Shepherd here 5+ years. Service and especially the way Dr Singh conducts business at Animal Care Center has been deteriorating as of late which is why I wouldn't give 4+ stars any longer. Routine service was great over the years and I should have given him a review before but now when situations arise, I'm taking time out of my day so that others can see my experience to avoid the same. I wouldn't give Dr Singh 1 star because he is very knowledgeable and overall decent with pets but his business as a whole isn't client friendly any longer. I'd say 2-3 stars is appropriate depending on his day. Service: This is a separate point but WARNING that Dr Singh charges more for a rescheduled appointment than the actual exam fee - CHARGE THE SAME AMOUNT BUT TO MAKE PROFIT ON A RESCHEDULED APPT IS WILD. Perhaps he's now charging a rescheduling/missed appointment because of less clients, who knows? Also they will present the card reader with a total but not provide the detailed costs before unless you ask, Apple Pay is not available only because he doesn't want to pay the fees associated with this (his words). Business outside is also not kept up, no longer looks welcoming. I will start with this: I am NOT an expert by any means with veterinary care. In February my dog had a skin infection, which was addressed and somewhat cured. Thank you for this! Yet, Dr Singh specifically made a comment that my dog's skin around his genital area looked off. No prescription shampoo was given at that time for that specific area, only to his coat. Fast forward to June, my dog has had a bit of blood droplets from his genitals so I took him to the vet emergency room as Dr Singh could not see my pet. Antibiotics were given and is ongoing for a week, I made a follow up appointment with Animal Care Center as I'm concerned with my dog's health. During this follow up today, he suggested to wait until the antibiotics were done before we proceeded with further tests of possible stones, cancer, etc. Call me ignorant but why did he not suggest this over the phone and now I had to take time away from work with an 30 min drive only to be told this. Then when I ask him why I didn't prescribe the medicated shampoo for his skin infection near his genital area back 2.5 months ago when I originally brought him in his response was "I could have prescribed more expensive medication." This is probably not what most pet owners want to hear from you Dr Singh. More importantly, I will wait to see how my dog progresses over the next week and maybe look for a second opinion of another veterinarian that is good with large breeds. ***Update**** Called for a follow up and Mr Singh has refused to care for my pet, his originally reasoning was he did not feel comfortable with the pet but then changed it due to me leaving him a 3 star review. I went in to pick up my pet's medical records and requested I speak to him directly to provide my feedback as most will leave a negative review behind a screen but never to someone directly. He then proceeded to say he is refusing service because I don't trust him, for looking at a second opinion. I would argue that most people always want a second opinion when the pet owner does not feel comfortable but to refuse service to a pet because of this feels sketch. Yes, I could go leave a complaint to the Veterinarian Medical Board regarding Animal Care Center but at the end of the day it's always about the pets we love, FIRST. Dr Singh made his choices with his operation and just simply want to share my experience so that others can avoid something similar. Really loved our experience here. We rescued a new puppy and had to take him in for shots and a check up - he was also full of fleas and worms it was important to get him in ASAP. I called multiple vets including our regular and an emergency vet, and nobody could get us in for 2 weeks. I called this location and they had an appointment sooner than the rest but still a week out, I booked it anyways. Just after I hung up, they called back and asked if I could come in first thing the next morning. Receptionist/tech checked with doctor and he decided puppy couldn't wait so they squeezed him in. Not only was the tech nice, Doctor was awesome. He came in early just to see our boy. We have never raised a puppy before and were completely clueless, he gave lots of pointers and tips that were really helpful! Funny part is - he administered the shots so quickly and gently that I couldn't even tell he did it and my puppy certainly couldn't either! He talked about treatment and what the next few months of visits and shots would look like. This was a mistake, Dr.Singh uses his own vaccination expirations and recommendations to encourage over vaccination. So the coupon is a lure to get you in the place. Then well.. His medical practices do not align with any other Veterinary Hospital in Elk Grove. For direct comparsion, I called both VCA hospitals in Elk Grove and the Bradshaw Vetrinary Clinic after receiving my bill. The care was subpar Dr. Singh does not provide comfort at all to the pet during examination, no voice interaction, calling a pet by name or even acknowleging my pet. Just stab and grab very little time spent. Before questions are answered a tech presents a mobile card reader for payment ,before any itemized receipt or authoraztion of care is provided. This is sneaky and dishonest, all other vet hospitals are very upfront with charges and what to expect, not Dr. Singh. We will not return, consider a more professional and honest veternarian. After much difficulty making an appointment for our dog Tuki with his usual vet and a couple others I've used in the past, we were passing by Animal Care Center and decided to give the Center a try. I was able to get an appointment within a week and Tuki's dental surgery within just another couple of weeks. Dr. Singh and his staff were all very kind and helpful; we found Dr. Singh to be a bit of a comedian, which made Tuki's appointment fun too! They took great care of Tuki. ZERO STARS DR SINGH INCOMPENT, MALPRACTICING, GREEDY, CROOK WHO ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY and not your beloved pet or you. My wife and I have 2 Miniature Dachshunds. Neither of us, have had owned a pet before. We have always relied on Vets to inform us, guide us, and be proactive in the care of our dogs. The Dogs have had their teeth cleaned annually until we moved here in May, 2015. Our female developed a cyst and we had not found a regular vet here. I had noticed that Vince's location had opened as Animal Care Center. I called and was seen on 6-11-18. I also set up a return date because the dogs needed annual visit for shots and heartworm 6-18-18. We decided to have the cyst removed on 6-25-18. I brought the Dogs in for an annual exam 6-21-19. Dr. Singh says they have tartar buildup on their teeth. I said I would schedule a cleaning when I could afford it. Dr. Singh's advised me that the Dogs should have Canine Flu vaccination and I returned 7-12-19 for it. I received a 6 month reminder card for Bordetella. I was confused as to why it every 6 months because in the past it's been every year. I brought the dogs in 1-20-20. At that time I asked for an appt. to have the Dogs teeth cleaned. Dr. Singh told me that they needed to have an examination before they could have their teeth cleaned. I brought the dogs on 1-21-20. The ONLY thing Dr. Singh said was that it would cost between $600 to 900 depending on extractions. I already knew my male had a chipped tooth because other vets have wanted to remove it. That is what I thought was he was referring to when he said extractions. He DID NOT SAY MY MALE DOG NEEDED ANY TEETH EXTRACTED. HE DID NOT SAY MY FEMALE DOG NEEDED ANY TEETH EXTRACTED. HE DID NOT SAY MY FEMEALE DOG HAD ANY INFECTED TEETH. HE DID NOT SAY MY MALE DOG HAD ANY INFECTED TEETH. HE DID NOT SAY HOW MUCH FOR THE TEETH CLEANING FOR THE DOGS. So I said to him you're the vet so I'm going to have to trust your judgment, and said go ahead then. A couple more hours later I get a call from Dr. Singh. He says our male needs 7 TEETH EXTRACTED. I asked, "Why so many?" He said they were all infected and that the only way to stop the infection was to extract them. He said 2 of them had deep pockets around the too tooth and would be willing to show me the X-Ray. Feeling very pressured again, I again said that you're the vet and I guess I will have to defer to your judgment. I reluctantly said fine go ahead. I get there later that day, wait, and was seen by the Dr. He offered to show me the X-Ray which I declined. I was thinking what would be the point. What do I know about x-rays, How do I know the x-ray he shows me is my dog's. How would I know he is telling me the truth and not some veterinarian double-speak. He said that's why he gave me an estimate for $600 to 900.I brought my dogs home. My wife is on the phone with her friend. Her friend has 4 dogs and has had 3 other dogs from puppy until they passed from old age. My wife tells her that the Vet pulled 6 of our female's teeth and 7 of out male's. The first thing she said was "Why didn't he use antibiotics?" WHY DIDN'T DR. SINGH PRESCRIBE ANTIBIOTICS WHEN HE SAW THAT MY DOGS HAD INFECTED TEETH, BUT HE COULD SEE EXTRACTIONS? MONEY This is how they treated me. After I was seen by the Dr. and was given the take home supplies and instructions, I was sitting in the waiting room to pay the bill. While waiting a young man came in with an English Bulldog. He sat down for a while. We spoke. He and his dog were called into an exam room. I was called up to the counter. The total was $1,408.74. Our debit cards have a $500 limit, so I brought my wife's checkbook to pay. We didn't want to use a credit card because we have existing balances and would incur interest charges even if we immediately paid the amount back. I will give you that the check is from a Credit Union in MN and that it didn't have our current address on it. Be that as it may, the checking account had $2000 in it and the savings that would cover any overdraft had over $5000 in it. My wife and I have credit scores over 700. He asked me if I had brought papers for my dog and I said no, nobody told me I had to. And he rolled his eyes. Then he told me that I need to clean my dogs ears out . Let me first say that I was recommended to Dr. Singh by a family friend, and we have been thrilled with our choice. I've had dogs all of my life, but my husband is a first time dog-owner. We have a beautiful Doberman and my husband is very picky about the care of our dog. We started with another vet, but after 2 visits, we decided to ask around for other vet suggestions because we wanted a better level of care and comfort with the vet. I have a great update. I went into the Animal Care Center yesterday to pay the $32.50 I still owed them and to be completely rid of having to do any further business with them. I do not "skip out on my bills," contrary to what Dr. Gurpreet Singh accused me of. BTW, Dr. Singh got very mad indeed when I told him that I thought that he did not handle my situation professionally at all, that he embarrassed me, AND that I gave him an unfavorable review on Yelp, you will not believe what he told me. Basically, he told me how a lady in a wheelchair who was crying tried to scam him out of $200 and how dare I go on the Internet to hurt his business, and GET THIS: "GOD ONLY LOVES THE DESERVING" - he yelled this out his door as I was quickly entering my car, and I yelled back, "No, God loves everyone, even those YOU judge as undeserving!" Oh my goodness, the nerve of this vet. He was so unbelievably mean, it was very frustrating to deal with. I will never go there again, and I suggest you do the same. The good thing about this clinic is that the prices are extremely affordable compared to other vets. However, I choose not to come back because they put a muzzle on my dog to look at him. I can understand not wanting to get bitten but the thing is that all the other vets I've been to have been able to look at my dog without using a muzzle. They have this special way of calming him down so he won't snap. My dog's eyes were wide open and I've never seen such fear in his eyes in the nearly 10 years I've had him. Poor guy :( The vet kind of made me feel bad too because when he came in, my dog was sitting on the scale and he said that he's going to break it. went to vet today for first time bc it appears my pet has contracted tapeworm infestation. I called ahead and dr Singh was able to tell me what I will need and able to give me medication instantly rather than having to send her stool to the lab. All went as expected and I got what I came for. Price was fair it seem as I called another place to price quote. Only problem was I asked for nail trim and I'm not sure how she did in that but as I got her back and took her home I saw a fresh scratch (red area on her neck that I don't recall there, and I would know bc I showered her before and after visit. They didn't tell me how she did and I didn't think to ask, next time I think I would check up on that. Thanks dr Singh Second update. I have been coming here for four years. The vet aide is very sweet, Dr. Singh is very gentle with my cat, and the prices are affordable. They also send out coupons to your house when a follow up appointment is coming up so that helps. I recommend this Vet. I would not hold it against them that they take precautions to not get injured by other people's pets during an examination. Dr. Singh was understanding and compassionate to both my cat and my concerns. I will go into debt for my animal, but not needlessly so. Dr. Singh explained the procedure and all the why's to put me at ease, and he quoted me at half the cost I was given elsewhere (part of this I *think* is because he did no x rays on my cat's mouth, so if you're looking for this, it's something to consider) I dropped off my cat in the morning and waited all day in pure anxiety to pick him up at 4pm. The staff were kind for each of my visits but especially so on pick up and helped me understand what to expect. This was the most invasive procedure my cat or I had ever experienced so I appreciate the time they gave to me. I went through all the worst case scenarios in my head that night and over-thought what "excessive draining" meant. I'm pleased to say we've had no complications which is a huge relief to both me and my cat. The next afternoon they called to check in on my little guy which made me feel good too. My convo today with Dr. Singh Gurpreet was terrible. My dog has had staph infections before & was treated here before as well. I called to ask for another treatment because its starting to come back, which happens. He said no we need all these extra tests. Then i said why cant i just get the meds like last time, it worked. He says, "what do u do for work?" i said i have my own business as an insurance broker, why does that matter what i do? He replies "it figures, you insurance people all are the same" and hung up on me. I called back and asked what he said and he wouldnt say and i asked why he was so scared to repeat it. He says cuz "im scared and ill bite." I SWEAR THIS MAN SAID HE WOULD BITE! i verified if thats what he said by asking him, he said "yes u said im a scared like a girl and you know what girls do? they bite." what on earth is going on at this place. dont go here if you dont want to be upsold random stuff and GET BIT!? read more

I brought my puppy to Dr. G. Singh for a check up. He was very rough with her and told me that she has weakness/problems with her back leg and was pulling it. This was very upsetting, why would you keep pulling on the leg that is weak/problems. My puppy was fine, and very active before I took her to see Dr. Singh. I have been bringing my cat here for the past several years. He has a severe skin allergy that needs ongoing treatment. Today I called because my cat is in distress and needs to be seen prior to his next scheduled appointment (8 days from now). I was treated rudely by whoever answered the phone and basically told too bad go somewhere else because we have nothing. There was no concern, no empathy, no pause to even check the appointment schedule. I understand if there are no appointments available, but at least make an effort to check, and show some concern and care for someone's pet that you have been treating. read more
