I was totally upset and worked up when I called VEG ER, but the gentleman on the phone was incredibly kind and calm. When I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and organized the building was. The open concept floor was not what I was expecting but it was really awesome being with my dog every step of the way. The gentleman that helped us offered a bed for my dog to lay on, which was good because we waited like 5 hours. They offer snacks, drinks, as well as blankets for humans because it gets quite cold in there. Everyone there was kind and friendly. You could really tell they were dedicated to their job and providing the best experience for their patients. My princess loved being able to watch everyone walk around her and was completely content. The doctor even sat with her when we were finally seen so she wouldn't have to be moved. :) All the staff talked to her like a baby whenever they addressed her which made me happy too. Really shows they love animals. Paid about $660 to find out she didn't have a lot of poop in her, but the peace of mind was worth it. Getting to see how they take x-rays was cool too, even if my poor baby had to be manhandled hehe. The bill was much cheaper than I expected, which was nice. It was for the initial exam and the x-rays. Would highly recommend coming here for a transparent, wonderful experience! read more

They took in our cat in an emergency, yes. They were comforting and caring, yes. But I do get the feeling this vet is looking for money however they can get it. My cat had a urinary block, which they were able to identify with an ultrasound immediately. I'm very thankful for that. BUT they priced us VERY expensively for a procedure I was able to get done at another vet clinic for half the price. $7-8000 was what we were quoted from them for a urinary blockage clearing and surgery to remove the stones I was able to go to VCA Bradshaw the same evening and get the same surgery for $4k. I love my cat and considered the option of putting him down due to me not being able to afford the surgery. I'm so thankful that I was able to save my cat for a price I was able to afford with VCA Bradshaw. read more

My husband brought our dog to the ER after she experienced seizures for the first time, 2 of them in a 6 hour span. Both less than a minute long. Maybe 15-20 seconds. Seizures are scary, so we wanted a professional opinion. It was 2am when I called in to see if they thought we needed to come in and were recommended to. The person over the phone was really kind. In person, my husband said that the staff were kind and clearly cared about animals. He told me they spoke in baby voices to all the animals. Every staff member he encountered was compassionate, nurturing, and gentle with the animals. They even gave my dog a treat in between waiting and took the time to comfort her. It's obvious they genuinely love what they do and care deeply about their patients. However, communication from the veterinarian in the visit was lacking. The first veterinarian he saw clocked out, and a second veterinarian took over our case. There were several veterinary technicians involved, who were all helpful and wonderful, and blood was drawn and an IV catheter was placed in case my dog had another seizure while there. After those initial steps, though, my husband did not receive an update from the doctor for nearly 3 hours. After the 3 hours, the veterinarian came out and stated the facts and causes for seizures, and the next possible steps for them. A lot of the information was stuff we already researched and knew before going in. We were prescribed anti seizure medication. What was most frustrating was that after the long wait, the veterinarian finally came in to discuss the diagnosis, treatment options, medication, and the cost of bloodwork. It would have been much more efficient if those options had been presented earlier in the visit. A quick check in such as, "We're very busy tonight, but we can run bloodwork while you wait if you'd like" would have helped us make decisions sooner and would have made much better use of everyone's time. My husband had been awake all night, had work coming up, and did not want to stay any longer, so he ultimately chose to proceed with anti seizure medication rather than continue waiting for bloodwork results. The way it was presented was "it'll be $870 something with bloodwork included for your visit". It could've been presented with, if you want bloodwork run it'll cost X amount, no breakdown of charges either. He spent $360 for the exam, with the IV catheter and a written prescription for anti seizure medication, which I got filled at Costco. We decided to go to her normal veterinarian for the bloodwork and further diagnosis. Better updates and earlier discussions about testing and treatment options would make the experience much less stressful for pet owners during an already difficult situation. There was about 10 people waiting for help around the time my husband was there from 2:20am-6am and only 1 veterinarian available to see them. I don't know if this is normal, but if there were 2 veterinarians it would've been quicker. All in all, I wanted to get a professional to evaluate our fur baby because she's never had seizures before, and we were scared for her. They helped us to examine her and give us peace of mind. I was told by the VCA to call them. They said that most of the the time the vets instead of the vet techs actually answer the phones so I'd be able to speak with them directly about what is going on, and that they would be able to give me more information over the phone than they could. My dog was fine when I put her in the car, but after a 20 min car ride (windows were up) I went to get her out and something was going on with her eye. Her left eye looked slightly sunken in and her third eyelid seemed as if it was stuck about 1/3 of the way closed. When I called VEG, they were anything but helpful. I recently lost my other dog from lymphoma and a large abdominal mass. The vet bills drained my bank account and maxed out my credit cards. I wanted to avoid the emergency vet if possible. I did not call for a diagnosis, and I made this clear numerous times. I will find a way to get my dog whatever care is necessary, but if I need to take her to the emergency vet I may need a few hours to find the funds. I asked them if I could explain what is happening with her eye, and if they could tell me what kinds of things could cause these types of symptoms. I wanted to know this so that I could get an idea of how severe/dangerous this could possibly be for her. Or if there was anything I could do to alleviate these symptoms, make her more comfortable, or at the very least make sure she doesn't get worse while I gather the money to take her in. All the vet let me actually get out was that she was having an issue with her eye. She had zero interest in hearing what the actual problem was. Every time I tried to explain it she would start talking over me. I probably should have stayed more calm, but I was frustrated. She said she wasn't going to argue with me. I told her I wasn't trying to argue the question I'm asking is a legitimate question (I was asking what kind of scenarios are they allowed to talk to you about over the phone). She took it as a sarcastic rude remark. It wasn't. I wanted to know for future reference. And then she hung up on me. It was incredibly rude and absolutely unhelpful. read more

Our mini Aussie got into some dark chocolate and started acting erratically at 1:30AM. Was able to call the vets here, asses the risk quickly, and rush him over to get checked. The staff were very welcoming and understanding of the situation offering their expertise and although my pup was being a bit difficult, the nurses and doc were extremely professional and gracious. The help they provided in the overnight hours despite being understaffed was impressive. Ultimately our pup was able to get the care he needed. VEG has been so amazing with our boy. They have, unfortunately, seen our dog twice now but each time we've gone in, it has been nothing but a great experience. When you are there, you are able to get a room to yourself and stay there all night with your pet. Dr. Sarah Hoggan was so patient and loving throughout the whole process. Our dog Kai is on medication that needs a specific Dr.'s note but when he ran low and we were in a pinch, VEG helped call around to different pharmacies to make sure Kai got his medication that night. When checking out of VEG, Fred was so attentive. Our dog took frequent potty breaks and was anxious to leave. Fred always came and opened the door for us, cleaned up the mess our dog left after eating, and made sure that we had snacks, water, or coffee. My lab was super nervous and anxious, but the staff was very patient with her and made sure she got the care she needed. It felt like every client was important to them, and like other reviewers have mentioned, it is so unique and special to be able to be with your pet throughout the entire visit. Very grateful that they are available 24/7, this is very reassuring. Paid a pretty hefty price for our visit, but it is expected and well worth it to ensure our dog is safe and healthy. I am extremely impressed with the efficiency of this hospital! This was my first time at a VEG. Not just my dog, but all the pets who came after us, were immediately assessed. Our dog's assessment and exam were done simultaneously. While I was giving her history, the vet (Dr. Michala Frederick) was creating the treatment plan on a laptop. Others shared similar experiences with exams happening within minutes of arrival. All employees remained engaged in working, and have a fear-free ethic when treating pets. The staff continued to give updates on the progress of my dog's case. I honestly wasn't used to that much communication at an ER ;) The Vet Assistant working with our dog was very competent in monitoring and recovering a sedated patient. I didn't feel the need to "supervise" her. I apologize for not paying remembering her name. The doctor even came to check on my dog during sedation, which I don't ever see. Additional radiographs were taken without an extra charge. The atmosphere was calm and friendly. I had never been paid so much attention at a pet hospital before. I almost felt like I was the patient. This hospital is light-years ahead of any other emergency hospital I have ever visited. The money spent actually feels worth it. Vet ER's are not cheap. You pay for specialized staff and equipment that surpass an average day-clinic, not to mention 24-hour operation. Pet insurance is the only way I can afford such services. Normally, I feel exhausted, angry, ignored, and extorted by the time I leave an emergency pet hospital (usually 8-10 hours later, even with only a couple patients in ER). My dog had sedation, diagnostics, and medication prescribed all in just a little over 2 hours. There were even 4 other patients who came in after us. I understand it will be longer if there are critical emergencies, and/or numerous patients. However, I believe their efficiency would still drastically cut down on time spent there. From a business perspective, what I witnessed is definetly a collaborative effort between staff and managment in creating a positive and caring environment, in addition to efficiency. It is also clear they have addressed any negative feedback I read on Yelp. A majority of which are just people not listening or understanding what they are being told, or not understanding how ER's work. The open concept design eliminates slacking off and negative talk, creating total transparency. On Sunday night, we rushed in with our 11-month-old Yorkie, Dallas (only 4 lbs), after he choked and swallowed a collagen chew that became lodged in his esophagus, causing a partial obstruction. He was miserable, lethargic, and we were absolutely terrified. Despite how incredibly busy and chaotic the ER was that night, the entire team was attentive, compassionate, and knowledgeable. What stood out most was how well they worked together -- doctors and nurses who weren't even assigned to Dallas still checked in on us, made sure we were comfortable, and kept us informed while we waited. That level of teamwork and care does not go unnoticed. Dallas ultimately required an endoscopy, and thanks to their expertise, he is now on the road to a full recovery. Our puppy has no respect for our cat's personal space, which resulted in a swat to the eyeball. We read online that cat scratches can become infected easily-- especially in the eye. Her eye was red and swollen so I freaked out and we took her to VEG. As soon as we got there, a tech got her weighed and took her vitals. It took a while to get to the actual exam and treatment portion, but as an emergency care center, VEG triages all of the animals there. So if it takes a long time for your animal to be seen, consider yourself lucky. There were other pups who were doing a lot worse and their care was much more urgent. The layout of the place is really strange. All the exam tables are in one big room. So while we were waiting for treatment, we saw multiple pups come in on gurneys and being given what I will call "end of life care". It felt really invasive to the privacy of the people crying over their pet, and I can see how it might be distressing for some. Prices reflect that it's an emergency department. Our regular vet was overbooked and we were referred to VEG when our Orange cat "Momo" needed treatment for a left cheek abscess. We called ahead of time and they were expecting us. We were immediately greeted and triaged. It's really very similar to a human urgent care/ER where treatment and waiting area are in one big room. We were placed in one of the few side treatment rooms they have because we weren't sure if Momo was gonna bolt or not. A vet tech took vitals. They sit on the floor with your pet and Momo responded really well to them.We were greeted by Dr. Connor Long and he confirmed that it was an abscess that needed incision, drainage and flushing. He would need to put her under to do the procedure. Once they gave Momo the sleepy meds and she was out, the procedure was quick. They sent us home with pain meds, antibiotics, a soft cone and care instructions and to follow up in 7 days.She's recovering nicely at home They send you a treatment plan via text and then they will discuss any concerns you may have. Here's some things to remember. Although there are very few negative Yelp comments, some past clients complain about cost and wait time: **This is a PREMIUM service vet clinic as you can basically walk in, 24/7 and it is EXPENSIVE, The Usual and customary vet fees you would normally pay at your regular vet may be higher here. However, if your pet is having a medical emergency, it's so nice to have a place you can go for immediate care by caring, qualified staff. ** Be prepared to wait.. Just like any urgent care, patients are seen in order of severity. We waited about 3 hours in the side room but that was perfectly ok. While it may seem like they aren't busy and waiting room is empty, they are caring for the most critically ill patients, doing surgeries, prepping them, monitoring them, doing follow-up calls, etc. Eat or grab a snack to bring with you as you may be waiting for a while and there are no fast food places nearby. My husband is diabetic and hadn't eaten in over 5 hours and staff found him a few snacks and offered them to him, along with some water and he was fine. We really appreciated this because he really didn't want to leave Momo there but he wears a blood sugar monitor and his sugar was getting low. ** VEG does not do preventative care or routine care at this clinic , such as vaccines, microchip, etc. It is emergency vet care only. EG has been in need of this type of clinic for a long time. Other local vets can't handle the capacity--even the ones that keep emergency hours have turned people away. We wish to thank the team at VEG, and we appreciate the care and attention we were given. read more

Before bed one night, we noticed a few small hives on our lab, Sumi's, face. She was acting normal and didn't seem bothered by them. So, we gave her benedryl and we all went to bed. We woke at 3:30 am to Sumi scratching her face and saw that her eyes and snout were very swollen and itchy. We took her right into VEG and she was treated like a rockstar. Even in the wee morning hours, the staff and the Veterinarian were ready to take care of our lab. She needed some benedryl and cortisol injections. We were there about an hour and sent on our way. The next day, Sumi had some vomiting, I called VEG and they had us bring her back in for a free recheck - just to make sure all was ok. She was ok and prescribed some anti nausea meds. All in all, we were very happy with her treatment and happy to know that there is an emergency vet near us for any future needs when our regular vet is not open. read more

I brought my dog here on 2 separate occasions. Staff is very friendly and show that they really care. Yes it's expensive, as I expected for an ER only care center but it was the closest thing to me and I called ahead of time to make sure they were not busy. I was in and out by an hour 15 mins. The second time unfortunately was to put my dog to sleep. I still had some hope but the vet was honest in it being the best decision for her and I cannot appreciate that enough. When we first walked in, we knew this place was different...in a good way. It was less than 5 minutes and the staff was already looking at our dog with the ultrasound. Last night I had realized my dog was having a heat stroke.. he's my baby and I just wanted to make sure he was okay. When I first called VEG, my mom explained to them the situation and that if we really had to bring him in. Thankfully a vet got on the phone and walked me through some steps to see if I needed to bring him in (no er vet has ever done that-they always say we need to evaluate them in person). My dog has severe anxiety of the vet so they also took that into consideration. Once we got there, they took him right away and made sure his vitals were okay, took a quick blood sample and they checked him out. Another emergency came in (honestly one that needed more attention than my dog since he was alert and calm), they tended to the other dog in the meantime. My dog started to look and feel better while we there so before they were going to place a catheter I asked if I can speak to the vet again if we can go home and what signs can I look for at home? She did exactly that. She said in her opinion he is looking better and to give him water in moderation and let him eat if we wants. My dog is doing much better, they made sure no vitals organs were injured during the heat stroke and send us home with signs to look for and to continue taking his temperature at home. Could wait at facility but opted to go home and await phone call. Friendly staff members, helpful knowledgeable vet doctors and nurses. Very good first time experience. I asked for an itemized statement, they gave me a doctored one without any specifics about the refund and/or the additional $95 charge. i took my cat in for eating chicken bones and was nervous as many pet owners are. the level of care my cat and i received as soon as we walked in was incredible. the staff is so kind, communicative, eased my stresses, offered me water and snacks, were so gentle and patient with my cat. every single person there was amazing. they talked me through everything and let me approve budget before committing to treatments. gave me options and even sent me home with complimentary diet aid for my cat. i can't thank the team enough for their support and care. thank you so much! read more

We had to unfortunately put our sweet baby boy down yesterday. I cannot recommend this place enough. I've never been to a vet/ er where they do so much of the procedures/ medical stuff around you. You get to be present and it truly made the process so much easier. It made me understand what he was going through. They explained In detail everything that was going on, had blankets, water etc for owners. The room and the process to put your dog down was so peaceful and amazing. It is not easy to put your baby down who just turned 4. My mom and aunt said they have never came to a place that was that peaceful (they have had dogs their whole life).
