VCA Bradshaw saved my kitty for $2k less
Kaylee C.

They took in our cat in an emergency, yes. They were comforting and caring, yes. But I do get the feeling this vet is looking for money however they can get it. My cat had a urinary block, which they were able to identify with an ultrasound immediately. I'm very thankful for that. BUT they priced us VERY expensively for a procedure I was able to get done at another vet clinic for half the price. $7-8000 was what we were quoted from them for a urinary blockage clearing and surgery to remove the stones I was able to go to VCA Bradshaw the same evening and get the same surgery for $4k. I love my cat and considered the option of putting him down due to me not being able to afford the surgery. I'm so thankful that I was able to save my cat for a price I was able to afford with VCA Bradshaw.

My husband brought our dog to the ER after she experienced seizures for the first time, 2 of them in a 6 hour span. Both less than a minute long. Maybe 15-20 seconds. Seizures are scary, so we wanted a professional opinion. It was 2am when I called in to see if they thought we needed to come in and were recommended to. The person over the phone was really kind. In person, my husband said that the staff were kind and clearly cared about animals. He told me they spoke in baby voices to all the animals. Every staff member he encountered was compassionate, nurturing, and gentle with the animals. They even gave my dog a treat in between waiting and took the time to comfort her. It's obvious they genuinely love what they do and care deeply about their patients. However, communication from the veterinarian in the visit was lacking. The first veterinarian he saw clocked out, and a second veterinarian took over our case. There were several veterinary technicians involved, who were all helpful and wonderful, and blood was drawn and an IV catheter was placed in case my dog had another seizure while there. After those initial steps, though, my husband did not receive an update from the doctor for nearly 3 hours. After the 3 hours, the veterinarian came out and stated the facts and causes for seizures, and the next possible steps for them. A lot of the information was stuff we already researched and knew before going in. We were prescribed anti seizure medication. What was most frustrating was that after the long wait, the veterinarian finally came in to discuss the diagnosis, treatment options, medication, and the cost of bloodwork. It would have been much more efficient if those options had been presented earlier in the visit. A quick check in such as, "We're very busy tonight, but we can run bloodwork while you wait if you'd like" would have helped us make decisions sooner and would have made much better use of everyone's time. My husband had been awake all night, had work coming up, and did not want to stay any longer, so he ultimately chose to proceed with anti seizure medication rather than continue waiting for bloodwork results. The way it was presented was "it'll be $870 something with bloodwork included for your visit". It could've been presented with, if you want bloodwork run it'll cost X amount, no breakdown of charges either. He spent $360 for the exam, with the IV catheter and a written prescription for anti seizure medication, which I got filled at Costco. We decided to go to her normal veterinarian for the bloodwork and further diagnosis. Better updates and earlier discussions about testing and treatment options would make the experience much less stressful for pet owners during an already difficult situation. There was about 10 people waiting for help around the time my husband was there from 2:20am-6am and only 1 veterinarian available to see them. I don't know if this is normal, but if there were 2 veterinarians it would've been quicker. All in all, I wanted to get a professional to evaluate our fur baby because she's never had seizures before, and we were scared for her. They helped us to examine her and give us peace of mind. I hope this review helps someone to make an informed decision and save some money.

The staff and doctors were wonderful! We came in to them with our sick dog and they started taking care of her right away. It's great knowing they are here in town in case our regular veterinary clinic is closed. Would definitely recommend if needed!

VEG has been so amazing with our boy. They have, unfortunately, seen our dog twice now but each time we've gone in, it has been nothing but a great experience. When you are there, you are able to get a room to yourself and stay there all night with your pet. Dr. Sarah Hoggan was so patient and loving throughout the whole process. Our dog Kai is on medication that needs a specific Dr.'s note but when he ran low and we were in a pinch, VEG helped call around to different pharmacies to make sure Kai got his medication that night. When checking out of VEG, Fred was so attentive. Our dog took frequent potty breaks and was anxious to leave. Fred always came and opened the door for us, cleaned up the mess our dog left after eating, and made sure that we had snacks, water, or coffee. He truly wrapped up the experience that we had!

For example, I had an appointment for my dog over a month ago. While there, I completely forgot to ask about the flea medication Bravecto, which is available only by prescription and requires a doctor's visit before you get the prescription. I just called the office and asked if they'd be willing to write the script for Bravecto since I forgot to inquire during the appointment, and they were like 'yes, absolutely!' My last vet wouldn't do that, even though I had just had an appointment and a full exam less than two months prior. They made me schedule another appointment for $110 and then get the script, which is already expensive, costing (at that time) around $70 bucks, so I wasn't happy having to pay $180 bucks essentially to obtain the flea medication. The doc at Bruceville Pet Hospital understood that I had just had an appointment, so he didn't need to see my dog again. Pricing is very reasonable here, which is important when everything else is so unreasonably expensive! As a consumer who loves her dog, I truly appreciate not being price-gouged. That said, if you're looking for a veterinarian with an excellent, supportive staff, I highly recommend Bruceville Pet Hospital!

This clinic used to be wonderful -- under the previous ownership (about a year ago), the staff was helpful and the doctors genuinely cared about my cats, giving me real options for their care. Since the new company took over, it's been nothing but problems. **The bloodwork runaround:** My cat had bloodwork done in December 2025. I was told that wasn't recent enough (even though it was only 5 months old), so I brought him in again in May. Then in July, I tried to refill his thyroid medication -- a medication he's been on, that requires bloodwork every 6-12 months -- and it was denied. **The "medical director" ghost:** I was told I hadn't gotten bloodwork done in May. After I pushed back, they admitted I actually had. So I asked why I needed it done again in July when their own policy says every 6-12 months. I asked to speak directly with the medical director and was refused -- instead, a staff member (not a doctor, not in charge) kept relaying messages back and forth. Eventually she came back and told me the medical director "doesn't feel comfortable treating my cat anymore" and dropped us as patients. **All of this -- after 6 years as a client, and over a routine medication refill for bloodwork he'd already completed.** This company is greedy, cold, and unhelpful. They are not interested in giving people real options for their pets' care, especially in their senior years. I've been going to this vet for 6 years and have never felt so disrespected and dismissed. Now I'm left scrambling to find a new vet for my 17-year-old cats. **If you're considering this place -- don't. If you're already a client -- leave. Be aware. Be very aware.**

At this point, they truly feel like extended family. What stands out most is the combination of knowledge and compassion. They take the time to explain things clearly, answer questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with decisions -- you never feel rushed, and you always feel heard. They've been there for the happy moments and also the incredibly hard ones. When we've had to say goodbye to pets, they were even able to come to our home to provide end-of-life care. That level of kindness meant more than I can really put into words, and it's something that's very hard to find. They've not only cared for my pets, but also cared for animals belonging to my parents over the years, so in many ways they've watched me grow from high school into adulthood and now almost 50, through multiple generations of pets. That kind of history creates a level of trust that's priceless. The office is clean, the staff is warm and professional, and you can tell everyone there genuinely cares about the animals they treat. If you're looking for a vet team that combines expertise with real compassion, this is a special place.

After trying multiple solutions at home without success, we brought her in to see Dr. Singh. He thoroughly evaluated her and determined there were no medical concerns--it was behavioral. We eventually realized she was being bullied by another cat in the household, made the necessary adjustments, and the issue gradually resolved. More recently, we brought in our senior cat for a comprehensive wellness exam (who lost weight). Dr. Singh completed a full workup, including bloodwork and a urinalysis, which revealed the need for more advanced evaluation with an internal medicine specialist. Dr. Singh is direct, thorough, and thoughtful in his approach. He asked detailed questions--including whether our cat may have been exposed to anything at home--and clearly communicated the urgency of seeking specialized care. The staff is consistently friendly, accommodating, and responsive, which makes a stressful situation much easier to navigate.

They were excellent when my mom and I brought our 2 dogs back in 2024 but last year the exams were very quick and it felt like the doctor barely checked our dogs out. They also seem to give inconsistent guidance and requirements when it comes to pet exams. One of my dogs gets bad seasonal allergies and we take them in to get cytopoint shots every other month or so during the spring and summer months. They told us at first exams were only needed once a year even when getting cytopoint shots but the last time I tried to get them in for just the shot they told me they needed to do another exam even though it was done 6 months ago. They tried to tell me issues like allergies and cytopoint require an exam every 6 months instead of 12 which, again, was never required here or at any other vet we've been to before. My mom wasn't satisfied with our last visit either and they tried to reach out about her negative review but she didn't want to deal with them anymore. They also consistently spam my inbox with reminders to bring my dogs in long before they actually need to be seen so I think it's time we look elsewhere for a different vet.

I have taken my cats there when they needed regular appointments for many years, as well as emergency care and they used to be good. I do expect to wait when you take them in for emergency care because there are other patients ahead of you, some more critical. I get it. So when I needed to take my cat in because she was not eating or drinking for the past few days, and her regular vet said to take her to an emergency vet, I called Mueller and was put on the "Virtual Waitlist." This was new to me, they had not had this when I had visited in the past and sounded like a great option since she was not critical, we could wait at home until they had time to see her that day. This is a lot less stressful for her and me. We were placed on the Virtual Waitlist at 11 am. At 5 pm I was sent a text that said they were ready for us and to come into the hospital. So I rushed down there and checked her in at 5:41 pm. We sat in the lobby waiting until 10:45 pm before we got into an exam room and saw a doctor. And then I was told that they could not help us and that they would see if there are other emergency vets in the area that could hospitalize my cat and provide an ultrasound the next day. I sat in the exam room for more than an hour before the Dr came back and let me know that she had found 1 place that we could possibly get into that night. I do appreciate her finding another ER hospital that was very helpful. She was doing the best she could. But I spent $178 and waited 6 hours to just go somewhere else. Which we did at midnight-I drove up to an ER Vet in Roseville. So my poor sick cat had to be in a carrier for 6 hours at Mueller and then the 45-minute drive and then 3 hours at the new ER vet. This was beyond stressful for her and me. From what I experienced, the "Virtual Waitlist" is not for their patients- it is for them to control how many people are coming in at one time and waiting in their lobby. You will still wait 5-8 hours to see a doctor after you arrive and check-in with reception. I wish they would communicate that fact more clearly. I don't think I will be using their services again after this nightmare.
