GOOD SELECTION of used kid clothing. It is very EXPENSIVE though; close to new retail prices. The store is absolutely FILTHY and SMELLS like cheap cinnamon. They do not clean their floors often at all; it needs to be mopped. For a store catered to women with children this is really an issue. My child shouldn't be covered in dust and grime after 15 minutes of being in a store. In fact I was so disappointed that I said something to the sales gal. She replied with a laugh and said, "we should put little wipes on her and let her clean up the place". And going back to the scent, I could not even go in here when I was pregnant. When friends and family would buy items from here for me, I had to wash everything twice to get the smell out. read more

Animal Crackers Kid's Store - Children's Clothing Near Me - Gig Harbor, Washington

The only kid's consignment store in the harbor. Generally a pretty good selection in a variety of price ranges. Usually some brand name stuff at a decent price. Mostly clothes and some used shoes, the used book and toy departments are lacking. Large selection of new clothes, educational and wooden toys and nice shoes but the prices are a little spendy for me. If you bring things in to consign be prepared to drop them off and wait for a response. It took 2 weeks for a return phone call. I really like Animal Cracker's consignment section. The quality of used clothes and toys are good and priced reasonably. I often find Zutano, Gymboree, Ralph Lauren, Gap Kids, Old Navy, and Janie and Jack in the racks. The other half of the store is more like a boutique. Really cute (and unique) clothes, but a bit pricey for me. They also sell cool toys from Haba and Melissa and Doug, as well as Ergo and Moby carriers. The store is somewhat smallish, so if you plan on going I don't recommend bringing a stroller or else you won't be able to maneuver around everything. read more

I only have one experience with Animal Crackers and to say it was unpleasant would be an understatement. When I went to walk in, I noticed a plastic slide by the front door with feces smeared down the front of it. When I went inside, the store itself had an overwhelming smell of sewage. I assumed the incidents were related, until I went to write this review and saw others had complained about the filthy conditions that were in place 5 years ago. I was only able to browse for a few minutes before the smell got to be too much. While I was inside, I noticed the store was also selling used car seats. My understanding is this may be illegal in some states. To me, this is questionable practice at best, when you consider all the safety issues that could come into play. I don't know if the owners have performed any safety testing (nothing indicated that the seats were safe and there were not any visible disclosures they may not be), but I think it is unethical to sell used safety equipment for children without ensuring it is indeed safe. As for the quality of the clothing, nothing really stood out to me as something I would consider high quality. I mostly saw stuff I would put kids in to play outside, though I didn't browse too much and tried to touch as little as possible while I was inside due to sanitation concerns and the overall cluttered layout of the store. It's my opinion that a store selling used children's items should ensure that they are safe, or at a bare minimum, not covered in feces before having them on public display. I will not be returning and think the owners have a lot to do to bring Animal Crackers up to par if they want to stay in business. read more

Traditionally, consignment shops are - for some reason - pretty disorganized. Still, I can't believe I received a call saying that I had items to be picked up when I had been in the previous day to pick these items up. Mind you, I did pick up a box of clothes. Oddly enough, the box I had picked up did not contain all of my unwanted items - therefore I was being asked to make a second trip. When I expressed surprise at this, instead of receiving an apology, I was told that it's impossible to keep track of the 40 different boxes of consignment items. I was told that I need to respond specifically to a phone message I received in order to have had all of my unwanted items conveniently in one box. Doesn't a mom have enough to keep track of? Seriously. If you live in Tacoma, or even in Gig Harbor, it's worth the trip to go somewhere like Kidz Kaboodle, where they go through your stuff on the spot and make an offer. Do yourself a favor - eliminate the wait and eliminate the run-around. read more

Great children's store! This is my favorite store in Gig Harbor for children's clothes, toys, games etc. They have a nice assortment of clothes for both boys and girls. The consignment clothes are all in great condition, no stains, tears, etc. and the prices can't be beat. There's also a nice selection of retail items too when you're in need of a gift for a birthday or baby shower. I love the new store layout; it's very clean and bright with the new lights. They have a large assortment of used children's clothes, I always find cute stuff while I am there. Prices are very reasonable. When I drop stuff off I just tell them to donate whatever doesn't sell...haven't had any issues. The rest of the store is a nice boutique with high quality products, prices are similar to what you would find at other children's boutiques. read more
