This is a total bummer as I was really expecting great things when I found this pet grooming place…read moreon Yelp based on all of the great 5 star reviews. It was a traumatizing disappointment to say the least, for both me and my dog Molly. When we arrived for our appointment for a nail trim, Molly was rushed onto a raised platform for the trim. The owners didn't even talk to her or greet her or ask for her name, no treats, nothing to calm her down. When I booked the appointment I didn't realize that they were going to have me be involved, as with past pet grooming places the professionals handle the entire operation and then let you know when it's done. While I was helping to hold her down, she was shrieking in terror as the owner cut her nails. Molly literally screamed out about 3-4 times, it was awful to watch. Past places like PetSmart trimmed and buffed the nails and then gave Molly treats for doing a great job. Shear Elegance only trimmed the nails and sent her on her way, no treat. The plus side was that it only cost $5 but be warned that they only accept cash and don't accept credit cards or any other form of payment. Molly couldn't wait to get out of there... after I paid she was pulling me out the door terrified with her tail between her legs. I really had high expectations based on the reviews and really like to support local businesses, but I think I'll stick to PetSmart where they will clean her ears, trim and buff her nails, and give her treats to calm her down for $20. I'm hoping this experience won't scare her going forward for future nail appointments.

Extremely disappointed with the vet. I will never go here again! We brought our kitty in three…read moreweeks or so ago because we assumed she had bladder crystals. Doc charged us a little over $200 to tell us it's behavioral issues- no urine test, nothing. All he did was talk about her weight and a mat on her back end. He did prescribe antibiotics just in case it was a uti but he was 99% sure it wasn't- it was just behavioral issues. it wasn't a bladder infection or anything along those lines not to mention he didn't even test to see if it was a uti. She never got better. We trusted docs advice because he is supposed to be the professional here. So we brushed it off as behavioural issues , even though I just knew it was bladder crystals. Fast forward to three days ago and her condition got worse. She continued to strain while trying to potty in her box, urinating little pebble sizes all around the house, howling at night when she would try to go potty, the following morning we woke up to tons of blood in her urine. We called back and spoke to the receptionist voicing our concerns that she had gotten worse, not better and she said she would talk to the doctor and have him call back right away, we waited all day. A half an hour before they close we still didn't hear from them. So we had to call them at 5:30, a half hour before they close. I never received a call back, they were just going to close and ignore me. (we called right away in the morning.) Completely unprofessional. Then the receptionist said that it was a reoccurring issue and it would cost over $500 for them to see her again. This was on top of the $200 we already paid for him to say it was behavioral issues. What!? A reoccurring issue? The issue was NEVER resolved! Because he was too lazy and unprofessional to look close and see it was an obviously easy issue to find out with a simple urine test that he didn't even bring up. Today, we had to drive her all the way down to Eden prairie and wait in the emergency vet for 9 hours while they ran extensive tests, urine samples, x-rays, etc. We told the Eden prairie vet what happened at this vet and their mouths dropped. They couldn't believe that he didn't bother to run a urine test and my cat had to suffer for 3+weeks!!!! A simple 15 minute test came back that she was loaded with bladder crystals and sent us home with medications, pain meds, and a bladder crystals food. My cat suffered in pain for almost a month because these guys couldn't do their job. I have no idea why they have so many great reviews when they treat their patients so poorly. Not to mention when we told the receptionist there's no way we are paying $500 for her to be seen again when the issue wasn't resolved from the beginning. Doc was trying to say this was a the same issue but went away magically and popped back up. (uhmm... NO!) They didn't try to work with us, make things right, or anything! If you love your pet, do not come to this vet. There is a reason they always have openings for the very next day even in the middle of a covid crisis. Save your money and go to an actual reputable vet that CARES about the pet, not how much money they can make off you. Maryland Ave pet hospital should be ashamed of themselves! They should definitely be compensating me. But we all know that will never happen. I also have all the paperwork from both vets to prove my case. One more thing I'd like to add is that this is supposed to be a "low" cost vet, they are everything BUT low cost.

Our dog had some bright red blood in her urine. The staff had the awareness and presence of mind to take a photo and forward it to me, which I then was able to send to my vet. I always get detailed feedback. The staff clearly loves dogs. My dog is a people person and interacts rarely with the other dogs. Which makes the caring staff especially important to us. Although she is anxious, even when medicated, this is the safest place for her. They are aware of her disposition and adapt to give her the best experience possible. The staff consists of highly competent and caring dog people. They are not only skilled at dealing with anxious dogs, but also gifted in dealing with anxious dog owners. Highly recommend.

But now, Dog Days is Betty's favorite place. It's better than any dog park or walk. I never feel bad leaving her over a weekend for boarding at Dog Days because I know there is no place she'd rather be. She cries when we drive to dog days then sprints in the door! The workers have gotten to know and love Betty. It's great knowing she's in good hands. Betty went in for a trial day before she could go to daycare, they assessed how she played with others and found a good play group for her. They have since moved her to different play groups to fit her needs. I love that owners treat the staff well and pay them a living wage. One last great thing: they post pictures of the dogs playing on Facebook!
