Incredibly disappointed with what was previously a fantastic veterinary practice. I have been a client at Animal Kingdom for years now with multiple pets being patients here. The clinic has a new office administrator/manager who has chosen to enact new policies which I find untenable as a longtime client. Beyond that, Dudley's clear contempt for the clients who direct their business toward Animal Kingdom is beyond astonishing. The clinic now requires prepayment of a deposit before they will even schedule an appointment with a vet or even for just a nail trim. Contrary to the verbiage on their website, this policy now applies to ALL Animal Kingdom clients... or so I was told by the office manager, Dudley. I would completely understand this treatment if I had previously no-showed to an appointment or if I had ever failed to pay in full for services rendered at the time of the appointment. But as someone who has been a loyal customer for years, who has never once missed an appointment or not paid a bill in full, I find this new policy incredibly insulting. When I expressed my disappointment in being treated this way, I was told "only our deadbeat customers seem to have a problem with the deposit." The word deadbeat was literally directed at me by the incredibly rude clinic manager, Dudley. The clinic also now refuses to electronically verify prescriptions for Chewy in an attempt to force customers to use their overpriced pharmacy. They previously did this and their vets quite literally encouraged us to get the prescriptions elsewhere because of how expensive the in house pharmacy is. Apparently Dudley has decided to end this service and now you must mail a physical prescription to Chewy because Animal Kingdom staff won't take the time to verify a prescription. Chewy customer service has stated that I am not the first customer to run into this issue with Animal Kingdom. They also now refuse to renew my cat's flea and tick preventative unless I bring him in for a full wellness exam. My cat has taken the same flea/tick medication his entire life with zero issues, and I have never once been denied a refill prior to this new office manager implementing his new policies. If my cat was symptomatic or had any issues I would gladly take him in for an exam. I will not subject him to needless stress just to renew a medication that he has taken without issue for years. Again, this was never an issue in the past. It's a sudden new issue. Dudley claims this is a legal requirement, but also refuses to cite the MCL statute supposedly related to his claim that my cat had to be seen in person for a prescription refill. These policies strike me as being nothing more than a poorly veiled attempt at profiteering and increasing revenue. During a phone conversation with the office manager, Dudley, he repeatedly over-talked me and was incredibly condescending. He also threatened that he would contact my employer to falsely tell them that I was being verbally abusive to veterinary office staff (I work as a sales manager in the pet industry consulting with vets and pet store owners on a daily basis). I find this incredibly funny, as I recorded my interaction with him and did not raise my voice, swear, or do anything remotely insulting to the office manager or any of the clinic staff. When I asked when the clinic owner, Dr. Vicky D. Marsh, would be available to discuss my concerns about the new policies and his behavior/threats, the office administrator stated "I think this conversation is over" and refused to give me a time I could reach Dr. Marsh. As such I've reached out to Dr. Marsh through social media (Facebook) and used my industry contacts to track down her cell phone number in an effort to inform her of her employee's conduct. So far I've received no response. I'm really hoping Dr. Marsh has better customer service skills than her staff and will do the right thing as a business owner and reach out to discuss this situation. It's just absurd to have to resort to contacting a business owner through Facebook because an employee refuses to simply state when would be a good time to call and speak to the clinic's owner. Animal Kingdom has been a well respected veterinary clinic in the Saline and Ann Arbor area for years. It really is a tragic shame to see their previously stellar customer service take a rapid nose dive, only due to what seems to be a newly hired, power-tripping admin worker. As someone whose entire job and livelihood revolves around relationship building and providing quality customer service, I can't help but just shake my head at the way some people behave when dealing with their clients. The office manager truly needs a crash course in how to have a discourse with the clinic's clientele. I've already requested my pets' electronic medical records and will be looking for a new vet who doesn't employ admin staff who believe it is acceptable to treat their longtime clients like fraudsters. read more

I would highly recommend Animal Kingdom. They are the only vet clinic I will trust to care of my BD. He has severe anxiety and gets nervous around other dogs. They make special arrangements to get him in the clinic and they take as much time they need to get him comfortable with them before they start the appointment. I have also brought my gerbils there too. They truly do care for any size animal. read more

Dr. Marsh applied her vast knowledge and experience to the diagnosis and treatment of my cat. She is generous with her time in explaining symptoms and behaviors. Her gentle, calming touch set my cat at ease during the examination, blood draw and shot. She has followed up with answers and guidance in treatment of my cat. My cat and I are very fortunate to have Dr. Marsh as our veterinarian. read more

Took Parakeet in to have its nails clipped. The employee clipped the birds' nails in a most unconventional way as I've been told by other vets in the area after describing how he handled the bird. You don't fling the scissors at the bird as you move the bird back and forth. The bird was scared and bit him, so he held it tighter by the abdomen. Birds don't have diaphragms like humans. He suffocated it and it died in front of us. The vet tried to blame it for other reasons which were untrue. He was flying around and eating breakfast with us right before we took him in. It's obvious they are trying to downplay the situation. Please don't take your pet there if you love it! read more

Our dogs have been patient for 7+ years. Unfortunately, the past few times we have needed to take them in the office has not been accommodating at all. We scheduled an appointment for our older dog because she is not eating well and our younger dog for skin allergies. We had to wait over a week to be get in. We have been home with a newborn for 1 week now and on the way to the appointment got a flat tire. My husband called to inform them they would be 10 minutes late to the appointment and animal kingdom canceled the appointment due to a very strict 10 min late policy. He would think that after being patients for this long and having sick dog they would be a little more accommodating. We are now in the market for a new vet. read more

We took our hognose snake in to get a checked out because his jaw was swollen and we were worried about him. They helped us figure out that our snake had an abscess in his mouth and they gave us some medicine to give to him. Our snake is doing better now and we are so happy that they could help us out. Everyone there was super nice and friendly and the veterinarian that helped our snake was super nice and helpful. We will definitely be returning here if any other issues arise with our snake. read more

Finding a fast appointment with an exotic vet is never easy. We came here for our first time while we couldn't get in with our normal vet and were AMAZED! We took our 2 rabbits to Dr. Fisher & will now be bringing them here from now on. The campus is beautiful with animals all around the outside we enjoyed viewing while waiting for our rabbits to be brought back to us. 10/10 RECOMMEND! I had to call for an emergency visit 7/12/23. The receptionist was able to get me in, however it required a down payment for the emergency visit. I let them know I was at work and needed a few minutes before I could get the card information. The call dropped and I got a call back saying if I didn't pay soon they would drop my appointment. After rushing to get my card I called back and they took my card number. They also told me if I was 10min late they would cancel my appointment and keep the down payment of $75. I left work early and drove 45min to the vet. With construction I was going to be a few minutes late, so I called to notify when I was almost there (7minutes late). I was so stressed and already cried having worried I would not make it in time and the receptionist did not comfort me, she told me as long as I was there by 10 after. On the other hand, the veterinarian was very nice and helpful, same with the tech who helped me in the room. However, the receptionist was not helpful and stressed me out more. read more

Sadly, this vet is no longer interested doing what's best for the animals and it's all about the profit. I needed to take my sick cat here and have always gotten titer instead of having unnecessary vaccinations as he is an indoor cat who already has immune issues. Dr. Marsh used to tout herself as an holistic vet, but apparently that all has changed as well. They would see my cat the same day IF I agreed to get a rabies vaccine, but would not see my cat the same day if they titered. Even though there is not a speck of scientific evidence that the vaccine would take effect immediately after they administered it. It's sad to see it's profits over care. read more

I didn't take my pet here -- however, they still managed to help me out in a pinch with my pooch. We have brought our dog home from neutering at the MHS. I felt a little bad getting an older dog neutered, but we had to promise the HS we would. Sparky Coupon was healing nicely for the most part, but he seemed to be a busy-body of a licker, trying to get at his stitches. So, alas, the nurse at the humane society gave us a cone/lampshade collar for Sparks to wear. He was not a fan at all, and starting freaking out a little about it. We called, and they recommended finding a place that offered "soft collars." The local pet store didn't stock the size I needed, but the folks there were kind enough to give me phone #s for other vet clinics that I could call to ask if they could locate this mythical soft collar. It took a few calls before I connected with Animal Kingdom. The woman on the phone was extremely kind, a good listener, and double-checked to make sure that they did have the size I would need in stock. When I got there, I was plenty impressed with the whole facility. They have a sanctuary area outside that seems to be home to a variety of intriguing birds -- a peacock, some tropical birdies. Very cool. They also seem to have the resources to treat animals other than just dogs and cats, and they have an adjacent groomer as well. I was presented with two different sizes of soft collars and I picked the one that seemed the best fit. One I brought it home, it did fit Sparky Coupon well, but alas, the little dude is just too flexible and so it was back to the hard-shell cone. That wasn't AK's fault, though. I am confident it may have worked with a less flexible pet. I was impressed enough, however, that even though it's located almost out in Saline, I think that this may become Sparky's new local vet as soon as we transition from the Humane Society's care. Hope Sparky can get that cone off his poor lil' head soon! read more

We took our cat there for a check up and vaccinations. Unfortunately we found out they use the three-year killed rabies vaccine on cats. This vaccine is no longer used by ANY respectable veterinarians because it has been found to cause fibrosarcomas. Almost all vets use the one-year modified live rabies vaccine. Updated review: We started coming to Animal Kingdom because we acquired a Blue and Gold Macaw. After a few visits and being very unhappy with our current vet in Belleville we started bringing all our pets here. Best decision we ever made for them. Animal Kingdom has a wonderful caring staff. We have called on several occasions because one of our dogs were sick and they either were able to get us in or suggested the emergency clinic in Ann Arbor. There facilities are amazing and we love looking at the different animals that are in their care. We live in Belleville and we would never take our family anywhere else! Update: We had an emergency this weekend with one of our dogs. We went to Blue Pearl in Ann Arbor. After depleting all our cash we have on hand, I called our vet this morning to see if they could see our dog. We have been going to Animal Kingdom for at least eleven years. I explained our situation and that because the bank is closed today for a holiday that we couldn't pay for services till tomorrow. I figured since we have an eleven year relationship with this vet that it shouldn't be a problem. I was appalled when they said that they had to have payment today for services rendered. Seriously? You couldn't wait one day? I asked to speak with the owner Dr. Marsh, and after sitting on hold for over 6 minutes she came back to say that Dr. Marsh couldn't come to the phone but that she said that payment must be made same day. Needless to say I found another vet that was sympathetic and would be happy to help my dog and wait for payment till tomorrow. Imagine that.... I'm not saying that Animal Kingdom is a bad vet, they aren't but what I am saying is if your ever in a bind, they won't be the ones to help you. I never thought I would say that about them. I had to take my cat in for her bi-yearly check-up (i.e., to be told that she's obese and for the vet to trim her razor-sharp claws). This place was actually recommended by a friend, and I found it to be nice, though sort of pricey. Flash forward to a week and a half later: my cat, who has been sick once in her life (when we brought her home from the shelter), came down with the kitty flu. What the hell, Animal Kingdom! I've taken my flying squirrels and rats here and they've all been treated by an amazing veterinarian. She was very patient with my flying squirrel Milo even though he can be really fussy and unlikable at times -- he had an injured back and since he's so small they could not really do an x-ray, however, she gave me a care regimine that got him better in no time. I was so impressed. She also gave me great advice on where to get healthy pet rats and sent a sympathy card when my rat, Monchichi, passed away. She talked with me on the phone when I was upset and was so kind, I'll never forget it. read more

Please don't take your pets here. Front staff can't answer many questions and don't have lot of knowledge regarding services, just that they offer certain things. So then they 'send a message' to the tech or vet, who also is too busy to help. They don't offer any 'emergent appointment slots' either. So if you need something addressed urgently, forget it. And you'll get different answers to things depending on which staff member you talk to. Very disorganized and while their tone may be kind, their care and communication are not good enough. I had a procedure done on my dog to remove a growth, was told it'd take 1-1.5 hours and I had to wait curbside. Two hours later I called to see where my dog was. They said she is still being 'monitored'. I asked what she was being monitored for and the front staff couldn't answer. Finally by hour three after multiple calls demanding to see my dog or get an update from someone who is monitoring her they brought her out. The tech couldn't even accurately say what they were monitoring her for, they said to make sure she came out of sedation - SHE WAS NEVER SEDATED! She was not supposed to be. The procedure only required a local anesthetic. I never got to see the vet who performed the procedure nor talk to her that day and it turns out there was a lapse in communication and my dog was good to go after 1.5 hours but the tech didn't know and so my dog sat there for no reason and I was left with no update. How horrible! I never want to put my dog through care like that again! DO NOT GO HERE! They used to be great but they lost a lot of good staff and now the practice is awful! UPDATE: I posted this last night and received an email this morning stating that basically they are dismissing me from their practice. Did not ask what they could do to better their practice or clear the air or make sure that my animal would be able to receive care until I found a new vet. Yikes. I guess don't say anything bad about them and expect them to want to get better-they just blame it on the pandemic. read more

I cannot even begin to tell you how much i love this place. They are compassionate, caring, accommodating and it's easy to get an appointment. My dog had to have an emergency surgery, and Dr. Marsh (on top of swooping in and saving his life) checked on him every few hours throughout the night and called me with updates. She also cut me a major deal on the surgery when the actual cost came to be way over her estimated cost. I can be a bit of a worrywart, maybe verging on hysteric, when it comes to the health and well-being of my pets and they have always dealt with me, my inevitable tears and my ten-thousand questions with warmth and assurance. My pet parakeet was super sick this morning, so I called the nearby "All Creatures' vet. They said they were booked for the day and told me to try 'Animal Kingdom' (and I really appreciated that they were nice enough to refer me to a competitor. Thank you!) When I explained my girl's symptoms, the lady gave me a flexible and immediate appointment (basically for whenever I could arrive). The vet, Dr. Maskey, was just wonderful. She has lots of birds herself and treated Kiki very gently. I know they have to do some uncomfortable things to the birds, but it was done in the least scary way possible, and Kiki seemed ok with it. They swabbed several things, looking for infection, and found it. She gave a great demo on how to administer the meds and more good advice. I felt like they really cared about my little bird, and they even referred to her by name. The total cost for the appointment, gram stain, and meds was very reasonable, especially given that it was technically an urgent appointment. Now I'm just hoping the meds work and that my baby is strong enough to pull through. read more

As the owners of three guinea pigs, my fiance and I LOVE Animal Kingdom. It is so difficult to find a vet that not only treats small animals, but that really understands the intricacies of guinea pig anatomy (apparently it's quite complicated) and issues! We have one guinea pig who has had repeated issues and some sort of mystery illness over the past few years. At first we thought bladder infection, then possibly uterine cancer, but the fact of the matter is, without surgery, there's no way to really pin in down. With the vet, we figured out that a combo of meds seem to keep her symptoms at bay, and with surgery being incredibly costly on guinea pigs, Dr. Marsh has completely supported and backed us up with our decision to control the symptoms instead of going ahead with a surgery that is dangerous to the guinea pig and may not even fix the problem. It was a tough decision to make, but Dr. Marsh was so supportive and understanding throughout. This guinea pig is still alive and well today, and though there's still this underlying issue, I feel confident in the continued care that this hospital continues to provide. My fiance has taken the pigs into Dr. Kim as well and thinks she did a great job with our critters as well. In fact, I am taking in another guinea pig tomorrow with a "weepy" eye.....I'm confident she'lll get matters figured out, get her the meds she needs, and keep her healthy and happy. read more

A few years ago I had a problem with them regarding Pet Meds policies. Because of that I changed to another vet and I have been happy that I did. However, since Animal Kingdom had treated my dog for the condition previously, I decided to return to them when the problem came up again recently -- bad decision. After a very pricey examination I was told that my dog needed surgery which would cost nearly $1000. I have a background in Medicine and I became suspicious of the reasons for the surgery that they gave me. I decided to get a second opinion from my current vet. The second opinion was that it was not a serious problem at all and did not require treatment. The explanation I was given made prefect sense to me. I trust this opinion because this vet has been treating my dog and two cats since 2011. I could have saved a lot of money by just going to her in the first place. Needless to say I did not proceed with the treatment suggested by Animal Kingdom. I am writing this review to share my experience with Animal Kingdom and nothing more. read more

For rabbits, they are much less expensive than other vets in Ann Arbor so we chose them for that initially. Anesthesia for rabbits can often be fatal, so experience in this and other testimonials in this area counted heavily in their favor. We had our Netherland Dwarf neutered, with two check-ups, and nail clippings here and it was all still well under what other vets had quoted us. They were knowledgeable, professional, and fast. Questions we had were answered honestly and listening to with respectfulness. Everyone was very gentle with our baby when handling him for check ups with no problems what so ever. He never showed any distress or discomfort about anything they did (He's not into being held but they move fast enough he hardly had time to care. He of course didn't like the mouth exam but didn't make alarm sounds or grunts or try to escape.The doc worked with confidence and patience with him.) They caught a possible problem with his molars and offered us a same-day filing treatment option for it. Considerate of them! More importantly, when we declined to have it done same-day they were not pushy at all about it. No guilt trip wording or pushing of care credit or w/e etc. I've had other exotic vets try these tactics and I find it feels more like a shady cash-grab than a medical need, personally. I felt very confident and comfortable taking him there even though it's a pretty far drive for us (luckily our bun has no problems with car rides of any distance or we'd have to reconsider I suppose). read more

I have to say that animal kingdom is the best most professional and nice vet you could take your animals ever. The doctors were so nice and sweet to my all of my animals named jasmine a cat, angel a guinea pig and my other two guinea pigs ginger and winnie. Especially the owner of this place is such a kind, sweet and gentle woman to my animals and to all animals that she cares for. Their very pet friendly and people friendly the owner of this place has bent over backwards for us many times to try and help our animals. All of our animals were comfortable with all of the doctors here and they treated them all nicely. They really care about your family members like there one of their pets. I always had a good experience there everytime it's just so wonderful there all I gotta say is praise the lord jesus for this place because without them we wouldn't know where to find good care for our animals and without them feeling scared. Ginger my guinea pig that passed away got poop stuck in her vagina and she couldn't go pee because of that so the owner of this place is a vet there so she scrapped the poop out and ginger was so scared and she was squeaking but then owner just very sweetly said it's okay ginger oh sweetheart it's okay so gently and she just handled her so kindly it was so wonderful. The owner really loved Ginger she thought she was beautiful and she really is. God Bless this place and thank you for what you guys do to help animals get better. First off, I do not have experience with their veterinary care, boarding or grooming services. However, I am reviewing Animal Kingdom because it is my favorite place to bring my dog to run off leash. We've taken our Boston Terrier/ Pug mix to a few different places and we've always had a good experience here. The dog run is well managed and just big enough for my dog to exhaust himself in. The other dogs have always been well behaved and their owners courteous. I love exploring the grounds to check out which animals are roaming around... Animal Kingdom is a great way to spend a weekend afternoon. read more

I have been coming here since late 2007 with my animals and finally hate to say that I've cut ties. I began coming with all my animals but found they were quite a bit more pricey than a lot of other vets I had been to. For example, my current vet charges $35 for a 30 minute check up (usually at least 75% of that time with the vet). They charged me usually $50 or more regardless of what the visit was for, even a simple vaccine, and I only got about 10 minutes or less with the vet. If you need a quick booster, you have to pay $20 to get it from a tech in the lobby but aren't allowed to go into a room or speak to a vet. I decided to just being my exotics here and take my cats and dogs elsewhere to save a little cash. When one of my ferrets was sick, I shelled out around $300 to help and was okay but when I came back less than 7 days later for a Rabies booster, I was annoyed. I paid almost $90 for a 10 minute vaccine appointment, of which $63 was for an exam, when I had literally just had one a week before. Communication with your vet also kind of stinks. I asked my vet about options when treating my ferret and we went over a lot. I forgot about the details of one method when I got home and called to ask if I could ask the vet again what her opinion was and if I should try that first. 3 calls back and forth with a receptionist later when I could have just literally had 5 minutes with the vet. I get that I need to pay for their time and there's no free advice but I thought if I paid for 2 sessions of $63 consults, I could have just a few more minutes to clarify what we went over. And when I expressed my frustration, I wasn't met with any great explanations at that time or any follow-ups laters. Ultimately, I decided to drive to another vet that was farther away but much more reasonable and subjective with their pricing. I waited until I had been about 3 times before I decided to cut ties with Animal Kingdom. The vet at my new place gave me her personal email on our first visit to ask me to send updates and email her if I had any questions. Way more personal and we don't bother her ever - just sent our single update and she sent a nice little response. I liked the vets, liked the staff, and loved the facility. BUT I hated the prices, disliked the long check-out process and the long waits to see a vet, and really didn't like the run around with quick questions. All employees there do a fantastic job with my little guy. He has joint pain and the doctor explained everything to me about his need for joint supplements. She suggested NSAIDs but they have to be taken orally and he won't take anything this way. Luckily the supplements come in bite size "treats". read more
