I mistakenly missed my pet's third eye visit. Clarissa called demanding full payment of $110 for the visit. I apologized profusely and asked Clarissa to ask for clemency from Dr Farber as I am elderly & sometimes forgetful. I made a feeble attempt at damage control, I said I would pay for the visit but Clarissa continued to be rude and condescending, unforgivingly rubbing my nose in my mistake. No one ever asked how my pet was doing. Actually his eye was worse. I doubt if he really cared. It's the pet that gets punished by this vet. I paid them and decided to go to another specialist. FYI. Dr Farber doesn't directly talk to pet owners. You can only relay messages thru Clarissa. read more

My wife took our 15 y/o dog there as she's been losing her vision. We suspected cataracts, but the doctor told her it was age related retinopathy. Nothing to really do about that. She was thoroughly examined. Our dog can get nervous at the vet's but all the staff were nice and made both dog and her "mom" calm and relaxed. They told her they would forward the results of the exam to our current vet. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I went to Dr.Faber a 2nd time for my Great Danes eye procedure. Everything went according to plan and my dog had sutures in and had to wait two weeks for the eyes to heal and to get sutures removed. Halfway through that waiting period my dogs right eye contracted an infection. I called Dr.Faber and left him a vmail, he called back after I texted him photos of her severely swollen shut right eye. He let me know that it was his "day off" and for me to slap a warm towel over it. Now I'm no eye expert like he is but I knew my dogs eye needed urgent expert care right then and there. He suggested me waiting 4 days later till Monday. I knew I had to act quickly and take her into a pet hospital. She did indeed have a bad eye infection and the Dr that took care of her told me Dr.Faber should have dropped what he was doing and seen her that day. I was willing to drive her to his office but he refused and kept telling me he was closed for the day. I don't blame him for her eye contracting an infection, I blame him for being lazy and especially while my dog still had sutures in he did not want to see her that day and I had to pay an extra $700 for the pet hospital bill that day. Super annoyed and frustrated with him and proud to say I won't be going back to him ever again. He's the laziest eye DR I've ever encountered. Also going to post pics here of my dogs swollen eye just so you can see that he recommended a "warm towel" to heal the swelling and that would cure the infection. Animal Vision Center is the best and I highly recommend them to everyone! Our dog had entropion in one eye that was really irritating and bugging her, always squinting and could barely see out of that eye. Animal Vision Center came highly recommended by a multiple vets that I called around town. Ariel is amazing and was so helpful before, during, and post entropion surgery. Dr. Faber is very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail about entropion and different options we had. We had the option of tacking or going through with the surgery and we chose surgery. It's been about two weeks now and we have a whole new pup! You can't even tell she had entropion before. Surgery and healing post opt went great and she can finally see. I first visited AVC earlier this year, while COVID regulations were in place, so I could not witness the exam they gave my cat Mipha. After her exam, Dr. Faber personally explained the procedures they'd done and their results to me, he was very friendly and very thorough. Today, I brought Mipha in for a follow up exam. I sat with her during the exam, and I was amazed by Dr. Faber and his team's tenderness with Mipha. They were very gentle, cooed at her and comforted her the whole time. She experiences a lot of stress at vet visits, and gets very spicy, but she did not hiss, bite, or lash out at all under Dr. Faber's care. You can tell that AVC's whole team truly loves animals and are dedicated to providing them great care and comfort. Very happy with our visit today! read more

When the receptionist called to confirm my shih tzus appointment, I asked them specifically what the cost would be For him to be seen. They told me $165 . I said okay. When I went to check out at after my dog had been seen, the receptionist told me the cost would be $245. No one informed me that certain tests would be done, nor did they tell me there would be an additional cost for service. They did not allow me in the exam room due to covid. When I explained I was not informed and not prepared to pay additional costs, the receptionist and Dr Faber were incredibly rude stating my memory was inaccurate and claimed I was informed about the cost, when I was not. I told them I didn't think it was good practice to not inform your patients of any additional costs before you proceed. I had planned to pay $165. Beware, and make sure you ask for the cost in writing if you must take your dog here. I would not recommend them as I was rushed out of there when trying to get answers about my dog, I was dismissed, and talked to in a rude and condescending tone by both the Dr and the receptionist. Terrible customer service. They were certainly trying to cover themselves and it was my word against theirs. I would have paid attention to any additional costs. The staff should have informed me in advance. They also don't offer any payment plans so if finances are a concern they wont work with you on that. I will not be going back there and I highly suggest you go somewhere else If you want to be treated with respect. read more

Dr Faber and his team were great and got me in very quickly for my dog Wiggles eye issue. He got scratched by my cat and wasn't healing after medications for 2 weeks. Found out it was a very deep laceration and Dr Faber explained in great detail on the steps from here on out. read more

Dr. Faber is very attentive and caring and helped our elderly dog regain her vision. She had a very scary bacterial infection in her eye and Dr.Faber was very proactive about making sure that she got the care she needed as quickly as possible to maximize the potential for the best outcome. We lost our sweet Coco recently (not due to her eye infection, but due to other health issues she'd been struggling with) and although he only knew her for a short time Dr. Faber sent a very heartfelt card after hearing about her passing. I can't tell you what this means to me and how blessed I feel to have had my Coco in his care. He is so incredibly busy and for someone to take the time out of their day to write such a heartfelt note, was very touching and shows just how much he cares about the animals that he cares for. Thank you for all that you did for Coco and our family, Dr. Faber. We are forever grateful. read more

I think this is one of the best experiences I've had with my diabetic dog in a long time My dog is 9 years old and from diabetes she is going blind. I went to this facility traveled an hour to get here because it was very affordable and the staff the doctor was so friendly so understanding they explained everything to me. I think the receptionist still could practice up on her customer service a little but other than that everything was great. Once I decide to proceed with the surgery this will definitely be the facility I use. read more

I called this office because I was interested in scheduling a procedure for my pet. I was told that despite 2 other vet recommendations, Dr. Faber would need to conduct his own consultation. Fair. However, when asked about the cost of the consultation, I was told it could range between $165-$375. A range? For a consultation? I asked if I would be asked prior to any tests so I could authorize the additional expenditures. I was told no. Apparently Dr. Faber makes his decisions without consulting with the clients about these matters. Furthermore, when I asked for a ballpark range about how much such a procedure would cost after the consultation, I was told that the amount would only be provided after consultation and a plan forward. I explained that such approach was not acceptable to me because it could mean that after spending hundreds of dollars on a consultation, the price of the procedure could be so out of my budget that it would be infeasible and render the consultation a complete waste of money. Unfortunately, my concerns do not matter to this vet as he doesn't seem to care much about normal business practices. I find such approach quite abhorrent. I called UC Davis afterwards, got a direct quote, detailed explanation, friendly service and an appointment. read more

Unfortunately, due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the receptionist, Debbie, we will not be visiting this specialist. While we were referred by our regular Vet, when calling to obtain general information about cataract treatment and possible surgery, this individual was unwilling to listen to my question, quickly cutting me off repeatedly, to say her piece. Her attitude was condescending, rude, and she literally told me that it was unfair to the doctor, for me to ask the price of a test. A totally ridiculous telephone interaction. We'll find a different ophthalmologist. read more

I am so thankful for Dr. Faber and his dedication to ensuring 4-legged family members have the best vision they can, thankful for Debbie calling me with an appointment someone cancelled so we could get in days sooner, and thankful for Kelly's care and concern for my little Boxer, Cooper. While she was holding his head during the somewhat invasive exam (no one wants drops and bright lights in their eyes!), I watched her gently rubbing Cooper behind his ears, reassuring him that it was all going to be alright. Dr. Faber was excellent; diagnosed my golden retriever's eye syndrome expertly and offered logical and scientific explanation without rushing. The visit felt educational, which I appreciate. I went in feeling uneasy and left feeling confident that he was confident! But to tell me that I would have to pay $115 dollars no show fee, when this was never mentioned before while scheduling the appointment or in other conversations and then to tell me "we usually don't have to mention this". I volunteer for a dog rescue and have interacted with A LOT of veterinarians. This was my first visit with Dr. Faber and he was amazing. I brought in a 5 month old foster puppy who has lots of puppy energy and Dr. Faber was very patient and took his time. He was very gentle and caring with the puppy. He did a thorough job explaining his condition and answering all of my questions. Luckily, no follow up is needed. For this puppy, but if I ever have another dog with eye problems, whether it is a rescue or one of my own, I will definitely take them to Dr. Faber! read more

Faber explains to you exactly what he sees while examining your pet. He treated my dog for an eye ulcer (performed debridement procedure) and within 10 days dog was all better. I was referred to Dr. Faber's office by my Vet near Yuba City. My dog, Romeo, has diabetes and rapidly developed cataracts and couldn't see. Dr Faber removed the cataracts and although Romeo developed a complication of intraocular pressure, which damaged the optic nerve in one eye, he can still see out of the other which is a huge improvement. Dr. Faber and his staff have been wonderful. Dr Faber takes the time to explain everything so we can understand what is happening. They are all very professional and make me feel like they care about both my dog and me. Since I do not live near the office, when I have concerns or questions (quite often at first) I call and sometimes I think I am a bit neurotic and a bother but Debbie always sets my mind at ease and makes me feel like she welcomes my questions. She takes detailed notes and finds out the answers for me. I really appreciate her and and all of the staff. Dr. Faber is an excellent doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone with eye concerns for their pet. read more
