After months of searching for the right kind of veterinary care for my senior "rescue" pup Rocky, I…read morefinally found what we needed at HEAL Veterinary Hospital and it was absolutely worth the effort and wait! As context, Rocky has been through a lot over the past year (ACL injury, Hypothyroidism flare ups, Allergy issues, Skin rash, Eye surgery, Ear infections, Tracheal collapse). In spite of all this, Rocky has remained a happy, sweet fur baby that is a "love magnet" wherever he goes :-). But, after months of vet visits, pokes, and prodding...we were both exhausted and needed a different path. My primary vet and I aligned that it was time to bring in specialty expertise and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we arrived at HEAL, I could tell this experience would be different. The entire staff is extremely kind and supportive, and Dr. Martinson is truly a gem--warm, intuitive, and incredibly thorough. She took the time to fully understand Rocky's health journey, and while a prior vet even suggested a wheelchair...I know my boy and he isn't there yet. Yes, he's aging, but it's not time for wheelchairs, heavy meds, or giving up. Dr. Martinson listened and agreed. Together we aligned on a holistic care plan that prioritizes Rocky's quality of life. No extreme interventions. Just thoughtful, expert care designed around what's best for him. Yes, the initial visit takes a lot of time, the "pre-booking" Questionnaire is extensive, and the services aren't cheap. But for me and Rocky, it was time and money well spent. This was the most detailed pet evaluation I've ever experienced and after months of stress, I finally saw Rocky relax. HEAL's Fear Free approach definitely works and I'm looking forward to a great partnership with Dr. Martinson and the entire team. And, more importantly, giving Rocky a chance to feel like himself again. If you're looking for thoughtful, compassionate, and expert-level care, I highly recommend HEAL. Wishing all our furry friends comfort and care. Happy Healing!

Another great visit to HEAL! There are so many good reasons why I decide to bring my pup here. The…read morestaff is simply incredible. Dr. Gaines is the same doc that gets to evaluate my dog, Pepper's health every time and really takes the time to educate you on all the options that he knows including holistic approaches that a common vet won't even mention. The assistant, Allie was very personable, genuine and really took the time to help me evaluate my decisions with absolutely no pressure. Everyone here treats you like a real human being with a love for animals, which is what every vet should be. If I could give this place 10 stars I would because they absolutely deserve it.

Let me tell you that this was the BEST VET I have EVER taken my dog to. So we recently moved from…read moreCA and have been struggling with Lincoln my Mini golden doodle for about 6 months with unknown reason for leg weakness. We took him to 2 vets and a neurologist to try to find out what was going on. The vets kept putting him on pain meds and not giving us any answers. He was not getting better. He could not get up from a sitting position and in a lot of pain. I knew something was wrong and meds were not going to help. We moved to Texas with this issue and by the grace of God came across Dr Grands page. She is amazing and completely knowledgeable and passionate about helping animals. I knew I was at the right place with Lincoln from the moment she put her hands on him. Within seconds she knew exactly where his pain and inflammation was coming from. First words out of her mouth were "I am invested and we are going to find out what is going on with this little guy"! She did a combo of Eastern and Western medicine. She explained everything and put a plan into place. The next morning I saw my Lincoln come alive again. He was able to move and do things he could not do in 6 months. She gave him the help that 3 other doctors could not. I am so grateful to her and the entire staff. They are all lovely and so professional. Don't waste money on taking your fur babies anywhere else.!! Thank you Dr. Teleah Grand for everything!!

After receiving the estimate we scheduled the appointment for his bloodwork prior to teeth cleaning for our Yorkie. Our Yorkie's teeth are cleaned every year for 11 years, his total life. We go for the initial appointment for his blood work, we go to check out and we are given a totally different estimate than the one emailed to us! Several hundred dollars more than the original estimate. We disputed this and they tried to brush it off and told me to disregard our original estimate, and the Technician pointed to my estimate saying it may only be this. That doesn't work for us since we made the appointment under the estimate that was emailed to us. We tried to speak to Dr Grand and she could care less and could not give us an explanation as to why the bill was so higher than our quote sent via email. Our experience speaks volumes of this very clinic! Choose your Vet Clinic wisely for your fur babies! We are done with this clinic. We never had any issues with our dogs teeth cleaning from any Vet.

Pet lovers who have rejected the notion of conventional medicine wait weeks to see Dr Ballard…read more Spoiler alert: you will be disappointed! The staff is highly unprofessional, the vet is rude and has a truck driver personality complete with casual profanity. Everytime I've been there the floors are so filthy with pet fur I am afraid to put my dog on it and instead kept her in my lap. The vet will sell you lots of useless herbal tinctures and rack your bill up. I didn't mind spending the money, but all the doses of this and that did absolutely no good. Do yourself a favor and take your pet somewhere else.

I have been taking my little bundle of fur, stress and joy to see Dr. B for about 5 years now. I…read morecan honestly say that Dr. B saved my little doxies life. Really. The scene: At 3 years of age my pup had developed calcified discs in her spine. These calcified discs were applying pressure to her nerves and thus creating a lot of pain. The poor gal could hardly pick up her head when she walked. She whimpered every time she moved. I had taken her to every vet I could find with no resolution to her back pain. They were giving me the option of a surgery that MIGHT help or medicating her forever. Yes, the same medications that were already not helping her. It was starting to look like surgery, paralysis or death. I was heartbroken. Cut to me at a housewarming party telling someone the situation with tears streaming down my face when a wonderful woman I didn't really know comes up to me and tells me about Dr. Ballard and Alternative Vet Hospital. She tells me that Dr. B brought her dog back from the brink as well. Since I really had nothing to lose, I made an appointment ASAP. At the appointment Dr. B listened to us and evaluated our dog. She explained that she was confident that she could help if we followed her instructions. Her plan of care consisted of removing our dog from all western medications, changing her food to Wellness and going on a regimen of Chinese herbs and homeopathic remedies. I left feeling hope because of her resolve but I was still skeptical. We went home after just a few days our pup started showing signs of improvement. Within a month, she was back to her normal self. In the years since she has had a few problem times but Dr. B has always been able to get us back on track by modifying her plan as our dogs needs change. I have recently moved away from the Dallas area and Dr. B is one of the things I will miss the most. Some other things that might help: -The staff is awesome and caring -If your dog has nails that grow like weeds or you just have a dog that's nails are out of control, Dr. B is hands down the best person to cut them. -They do cat and kitten adoptions, so that's a little hard to resist. -Make appointments ahead of time because they are busy.

High cost treatments in situations where it is absolutely not necessary, all why trying to play on the emotions of our love for fur baby. We saw right through it. We just nodded and smiled and sad no thank you. For example, Our past vet was a guru. (He also treated exotics, had a TV show with live call in questions, and would always err on the least invasive approach first when suspecting a diagnosis.) We are also on our third dog of this breed. We questioned him about a situation (two dogs ago, 12+ years) He said, "leave it alone. Those situations work best when nature takes its course. Intervening could only result in long term complications with their tiny jaw bone." Much experience with this and many years later, the vet at AHCS went on and on about tests & surgery needed immediately. ‍ She was a piece of work! (We were like, thank you, but can we just get the script for heart worm meds?) The other times they have manufactured concerns and played on the negative outcomes if we don't do something (again not what we were there for). The joke is on them. They don't know my husband is a trauma boarded physician. When he asks why chase a rare/odd suspicion when there is no sign during daily living and no treatment anyway? They (especially techs) look like a deer in the headlights. Their reply was "don't you want to know?" Ha! He said, "I prefer to wait for symptoms before I begin investigating. " Beware!!! They will rack up a huge bill for NOTHING if you let them play on your emotions!!
