I brought my pup in for a visit the other day due to a slight limp. I called in the morning and was able to get seen for the first time later that day. My dog got a thorough physical exam where the vet mentioned her slight cherry eyes which I was previously told didn't need to be operated on unless they bothered her. The vet seemed to have a different opinion but wasn't in a rush to schedule anything. Luckily my pup didn't need further evaluation for her leg, but the vet techs handled her very nicely and let me hold her to make her less anxious. This isn't a low cost vet practice by any means, but the cost for her vaccinations and medications seemed reasonable. I will be coming back with my baby! read more

On my dogs 10th birthday I was with my dog at the vet clinic. I was terrified as my dog had a hump back and was obviously in need of care. She was barely walking properly and couldn't sleep. My vet referred me to Dr. Ward for her now determined chronic back issues. The same day I dropped her off she was literally back to new again and even better. Dr. Ward has really saved my dog's quality of life. I can't express how grateful I am for this vet clinic. Her treatment consisted of spinal manipulation, acupuncture, and cold laser therapy. Dr. P and the staff are AWESOME! Dr. P removed an eleven pound tumor (yes, eleven pounds!) from our sweet golden retriever mix senior dog. Thankfully the tumor was benign, but everyone took such great care of our dog and we are forever grateful for them all. We will drive the 25 minutes to go back for our other fur babies, regardless of the gas prices. read more

Dr. Ward has been seeing our family's animals for the past 13 years. I loved him so much that my very protective parents also used Dr. Ward for their much loved senior dogs. Dr. Ward has a passion for caring about animals. He clearly loves animals. At times Dr. Ward can be blunt, but I would rather get the facts and understand both prognosis and treatments. The reception does get very busy, especially after 4:00. I've always found if I'm patient and kind, I get smiles and kindness in return. Tram as a veterinary assistant (I hope that's the correct title!) is AMAZING. After the sudden passing of our dog in the fall, Dr. Ward and Tram were so respectful, sorrowful, and kind. When I needed to pick up his ashes, Tram saw me pull in and met me AT MY CAR so I wouldn't have to walk in to a waiting room of pets. So thoughtful! read more

While I do not have experience with any other vet, I have had a good experience here at the Plano Animal Clinic. We recently adopted our dog and had to take her in for post-adoption wellness visit and a second visit for booster shots. The staff was very friendly and understanding of Curry's leash aggression - they ushered us into the exam room to keep her from getting to excited around the other dogs. One thing I love is Dr. Ward's use of alternative therapies for animals, that are, in his words "designed more to heal the patient than merely treat the symptoms." He recommended a grain free diet and her itching improved almost immediately once I stopped feeding her grain-based treats. he only reason I'm not giving him 5 stars is for the fact that on our first visit, he just picked up my very nervous dog and put her on the exam table, put the choke leash on and tied it to the side of the table. I'm sure this is standard procedure as many animals are probably nervous at the vet, but I felt that if I knew where he wanted her, I could have lured her onto the table with a treat and she would have been much less terrified. I had the presence of mind on the second visit to ask him to let me put her up and he was very accommodating and she did much better. (Of course, the hot dog treats probably helped! :-). One other wonderful thing about Dr. Bard is that he offers a FREE wellness visit for any animal adopted from a shelter or rescue group within 7 days of the rescue - this was a total blessing for us! read more

I've had two extremely poor experiences there. The straw that broke the camels back was when my wife took in out sick cat. After numerous tests (without any price or estimate) they couldn't do anything and had to put our cat down. While she was still crying, the receptionist blind-sighted her with a $500 bill. read more

HIghly recommend Dr Ward and his staff. He has really helped my yellow Lab with pain from hip dysplasia and arthritis with his alternative treatments of cold laser, vom and adequan injections. Go see him if your looking for better care for your pet. read more

Took my older dog in for evaluation as he was very sick and obviously there was something going on. The staff was great, the doctor; however, had absolutely no bedside manner and would barely give any information. Trying to get out of him what was going on with our fur child was like pulling teeth. The doctor just kept say basically yep something is definitely wrong. I would be ok with being told it is out of this offices scope of treatment, but to be told nothing definitive was horrible. We will not be back for any of our animals. read more

I took my Pomeranian to Dr. Ward because he had nerve damage and couldn't walk. I feel Dr. Ward tried everything he could to help him including a therapy of injecting his own cells into his back to try and re-grow the nerves. Although it didn't work for my dog, I talked to others who said he really helped their dogs with similar walking issues. It is rare that I give anyone a 5 star especially when I spent close to $2,000.00 and the treatment didn't work, however, I felt Dr. Ward really tried hard to help him so it was worth it for us. read more

We picked up our 8 month old puppy from a shelter and two days later she was diagnosed with, "possible distemper" by our local vet. The prognosis according to him, and another conventional vet we approached for a second opinion, was not good and both told us that if she didn't pick up within a few days we may need to start considering euthanasia. At this point she was curled in a little ball most of the day and her appetite and strength were both diminishing rapidly. Pneumonia had set in, despite being on antibiotics for around two weeks and a nasty mucus was constantly dripping from her nose. She was struggling to breath. We were desperate to arm ourselves with as much information as possible about the virus so turned to google and it was during this search that we came across Dr Ward at Plano Animal Clinic. After a phone call to the clinic we decided to give his approach a go and drove her an hour up there that same day. He gave her her initial treatment then sent us home armed with lots of alternative medications as well as more antibiotics. 12 hours after this initial visit our puppy wagged her tail for the first time in 2 weeks, 24 hours after that she jumped off the sofa looking for food and within 48 hours she was bouncing around our yard like a happy healthy puppy. We are now 4 weeks on from her initial treatment and she continues to gain strength every day and is a normal, energetic dog. Thank you Dr Ward from ourselves and Myrtle. I will not only be seeking Dr Wards opinion on our dogs health from here on in but will be consulting with holistic practitioners for my own health also. Amazing! I would highly highly recommend visiting Dr Ward at Plano Animal Clinic if you have a dog with suspected distemper. It's also worth noting that a local vet quoted three times the price for keeping her on oxygen and rehydration fluids for a couple of day. Not treating the virus just relieving the symptoms. I'm so glad we decided to give Dr Ward's approach a go. We will be spreading word of his treatment far and wide. read more

I wish I didn't have to give one star. Had a horrible experience. After taking my dog here for treatment, spending thousands of dollars my dog did not get better. He did thousands of tests, labs, and laser treatment while having him on 8 medications. When I confronted and questioned the doctor about the treatment on getting my baby better, he replied "something I'm doing is working" while my dog was on pain medications and steroids. I didn't want a quick fix, I want it to BE fixed. We spent close to 5,000 in one year here. To top it off, the reception is awful. The short blonde lady was nothing but rude to me every time and seems miserable to work there. She made me feel like I was a burden every time I was there. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I don't put a price on my dogs healthcare, BUT if the doctor doesn't even know what he is doing..I'm not paying for that. He fooled me, I hope nobody else falls for it. read more
