The staff is highly unprofessional, the vet is rude and has a truck driver personality complete with casual profanity. Everytime I've been there the floors are so filthy with pet fur I am afraid to put my dog on it and instead kept her in my lap. The vet will sell you lots of useless herbal tinctures and rack your bill up. I didn't mind spending the money, but all the doses of this and that did absolutely no good. I have been taking my little bundle of fur, stress and joy to see Dr. B for about 5 years now. I can honestly say that Dr. B saved my little doxies life. Really. The scene: At 3 years of age my pup had developed calcified discs in her spine. These calcified discs were applying pressure to her nerves and thus creating a lot of pain. The poor gal could hardly pick up her head when she walked. She whimpered every time she moved. I had taken her to every vet I could find with no resolution to her back pain. They were giving me the option of a surgery that MIGHT help or medicating her forever. Yes, the same medications that were already not helping her. It was starting to look like surgery, paralysis or death. I was heartbroken. Cut to me at a housewarming party telling someone the situation with tears streaming down my face when a wonderful woman I didn't really know comes up to me and tells me about Dr. Ballard and Alternative Vet Hospital. She tells me that Dr. B brought her dog back from the brink as well. Since I really had nothing to lose, I made an appointment ASAP. At the appointment Dr. B listened to us and evaluated our dog. She explained that she was confident that she could help if we followed her instructions. Her plan of care consisted of removing our dog from all western medications, changing her food to Wellness and going on a regimen of Chinese herbs and homeopathic remedies. I left feeling hope because of her resolve but I was still skeptical. We went home after just a few days our pup started showing signs of improvement. Within a month, she was back to her normal self. In the years since she has had a few problem times but Dr. B has always been able to get us back on track by modifying her plan as our dogs needs change. I have recently moved away from the Dallas area and Dr. B is one of the things I will miss the most. I have been here once before and received Chinese herbs for my furry friend and to be honest did not see a big change in lifestyle. Just recently I had a situation where my pet needed some medical attention (non- emergency ) I tried to call before I drove all the way out here, voicemail then put on hold for 5mins and when I did arrive they had enough staff just hanging out up front . They were more concern if I was coming in four times a year then to even ask what might be the problem with my pet... Still looking for a holistic vet.. I called the office to inquire on some pricing for a procedure for our new puppy who comes home in 1 month, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude, abrasive and was more interested in making excuses as to why the doctor couldn't or wouldn't see a new client and that the earliest she would be available would be late September. When I asked if the delay was the usual to see clients or is this just more of a one time thing because of the summer / vacations the lady finally says we aren't taking new patients. I said, oh alright then. I told her that she didn't have to be so rude and smug about it and she said "I didn't know I was". I said yes, you are coming off very abrasive and short and not very friendly. Then the lady says something to the effect of my perception and some sort of mirror effect then she hangs up on me. I personally will never do business with these people. I can't imagine trusting someone or a group of ppl that give the first impression to a complete stranger and potential client as being so rude, unprofessional and just miserable sounding. That isn't the type of ppl that I like to do business with much less trust them to make good decisions for my animals. I advise anyone to be very careful before coming here. I love Dr. Ballard! Have been taking all of my dogs there for years. Some of the reviews will state that it takes forever to see her or that she's not taking patients. Well, there is a reason for that. Unlike traditional vets, she takes time to visit with you and to get to know the animal. Some of our visits were 45 minutes long! One of the many things she has taught me is to listen and watch my pets. I'm not a helicopter mom, but will notice changes to their bodies and can adjust accordingly. Dr. Ballard also doesn't push crappy pet food down your throat like other offices. She even encourages and teaches you how to make your own, which is even more economical than store bought food. While seeing Dr. Ballard, I do recommend keeping a traditional vet relationship for emergencies. read more

Not even one star for Dr. B. After many years of excellent health my 16 year old was diagnosed with "inflamed trachea" that was supposedly causing my dog's coughing. Three months later she was DEAD! Never even examined or X ray's her heart. She suffered an cruel death of having a heart murmur/heart failure. Spent ridiculous amount of money on worthless Chinese medicine, etc. Stay far away from this quack! read more

DEATH SENTENCE - This is what Dr. Trisha Ballard gave my little girl. I even hate to call her a doctor. Its been a whirl wind since the beginning of the year for me a my little girl who use to see Dr. B the last time we were in her office and during her examination of her (which I had to beg her to actually pick her up and listen to her heart) Dr. B real casually mention that she had a heart murmur and that was it did not go into detail about it or tell me she could die from it and didn't tell me to get her to a cardiologist just said yep she has a heart murmur and gave me something for her lungs. Well I guess you could say I should of said something and your right I should of but I figured if it was bad she would say something like we need to start some type of treatment on my little girl but she didn't not a word. So I had a gut feeling I better seek another opinion and I did I took her to the Cardiologist and come to find out she has a stage five heart murmur I was devasted I cried I yield I ask God why didn't Dr., B say something to me maybe we could have caught this in time before it got to this stage it was too late now all we can do is try our best and slow it down the Cardiologist gives her 8 months. I gone to GREAT lengths to find a cure I even contacted a vet in Europe and now I'm consulting with a vet in California. I LOVE my little girl I cry ever day thinking why why wouldn't Dr. B say something about this so we could treat my little girl. I don't sleep at night because she has a cough with her heart murmur and if you have never experienced this trust me you don't want to it breaks my heart because I can't help her all I can do is just hold her and pray she doesn't suffer when its time for her to leave me. Poor customer service. Called Tuesday never got a call back. Called today waited ten minutes after being asked to hold for a moment. I figure they forgot about me so I hung up and called back. I had a simple question and never was I told they had a long line of people but when I called back she asked if I Could hold and I simply said I've already held for ten minutes and before I could say another word she complained about how there were others there and she was only one person. If she had explained that initially sure I would have said I'll call back at another time. However, after not getting a call back for two days and then for her to get a crappy attitude because they are understaffed was unreasonable. The front desk person is obviously lacking in how to be professional so I won't be calling back or going there. I did use this vet once before and the doctor seemed very caring but I'm sorry the staff you hire to handle the front office make a difference read more

My cat, Lily, has feline leukemia, which can be deadly to cats. If it progresses, it will kill her via lymphoma or bone-marrow cancer. She was diagnosed last March. This was done by my traditional western DVM vet, who is wonderful, but I wanted a better treatment option than "wait and see," which is what western medicine says to do for feline leukemia. I was a client of Dr.Ballard for 15 yrs. Now that she is only doing holistic treatments. They have no use for me as a client . I asked them to write a note about my cat to take to another vet to get treated. Apparently Dr. Ballard is to busy to give such note for a week. Her office help as become rude and like I said unhelpful. I was given the choice to go on her a treatment plan and have an appointment in JANUARY!!!
