Pretty bad. FNM starts sometime after 9 whenever they feel like they're ready. The players seem decent. The girl at the register was pretty rude yelling at the yu-gi-oh players at the tournament that preceeded the magic draft. There's no timer for rounds so if you draft on Friday you will be there all night because they also allow a second draft using players from the original draft causing a conflict in priorities and timing. Trying to sell cards? They give next to nothing. Less than anywhere I've ever been. They also can't buy high value items. They didn't seem to carry many singles for sale wither. One good thing is they have a bathroom. read more

Blatant liars and price-gougers. An awful shopping experience. I called in to order a Blu-ray set, and was told the item was in stock and available. After being instructed to place the order online, I paid immediately and was given confirmation of my purchase. Fast forward two days later, I receive an email saying the item I wanted to buy had been promised to another customer, and if I still wanted to purchase it, I would have to start bidding at $50+ the original price. Unsurprisingly, I checked their Amazon store and the item had been re-listed there to match the price jump. As of today, September 7th, they put another copy of the set on eBay. It's fine if you recognize the value of OOP items. You have the right to change the price on a product. However, I don't appreciate being shamelessly lied to in order to shake out a bit more cash, and jerked around due to your unwillingness to update the website. read more

Went here today! Enjoyed the selection, and we were greeted upon entering and given information about upcoming events. I always enjoy this in a store, it makes it feel like a more personal experience. The selection was great - I was really impressed by how the anime was organized. There was also an abundance of collectibles, which I'm sure I'll be back to buy for friends/siblings birthdays. The space is small, which is totally fine for me. It made it easier to look around. Overall I'm pretty impressed! Felt more personal than shopping at a big bookstore, which always bumps up my experience level. read more

The store is a bit small but they have nice collections of manga and anime. They even have a section of sport cards for collectors. I wish they have more anime figures and t-shirts. The people who works at the store are very helpful and knowledge. Highly recommended this place! read more

First experience with this store. I live in Mclean but a friend recommended it to me. I read other reviews and apparently there's a really rude girl there, but she wasnt working there when I went. The guy there was very nice. It was his first day so he didn't know where to find the Yugioh singles binder but I helped him look and we found it. He was really nice and we had a casual conversation about anime and such. It looks sketchy because its in a basement and it could use a few lights and a bit more organization, but their selection of manga, anime, and yugioh cards is pretty decent. If you come to buy things and know what to look for, you don't mind the clutter much. I bought 2 Berserk DvD's and some Yugioh cards. Good experience. Will return in the future. read more

Their website is way outdated. For anyone who is not a regular customer and is using the site as a basis of what they wish to look for, be prepared for disappointment. I was looking for a particular figure (which was labeled as in stock on their site FYI) but when I went down there, they told me, "Yeah, the site has not been updated in like 5 months and we no longer have that item." He then went on to keep on saying that figure production is now very "limited" in Japan due to last year's earthquake. I was more disappointed in their lame-duck excuse and outdated website more than the fact that the product I was looking for was not in stock. I for one can easily find other and much better stores and vendors to buy my items from. read more

The recent remodel of the store makes it look much better than it has previously. The stock was excellent and the staff was both knowledgeable and courteous. I was a little skeptical with all the negative reviews this place had, but upon visiting myself I feel like times must have changed since these other visitors took the liberty. read more

So I ended up working for Steve aka Anime Pavilion in New Orleans last month. He wanted my 21 year old sister, her friend, and I to share a hotel room with him and had us working a 13 hour day. We ended up spending way more money than we even made MAINLY because I had to rent a hotel room since we were 13 hours from home AND he tried to refuse to pay us after we did all the work! I would not recommend anyone have anything to do with this business or it's owner. I pray that things have changed because that was the worst experience of my life. read more

I've been in the shop a few times and its nothing to write home about. I went in looking for Magic the Gathering singles and their selection was mediocre at best. I guess they don't model their business on that aspect of the industry. It seems, however, that the shop owner and the other employees are extremely knowledgeable about anime, comics, collectible card games, etc. They run weekly CCG tournaments and I will be attending in the near future. Everyone was very nice and personable, which, honestly, with shops like this can be a rarity. read more

I will advise anyone who comes across this vendor/store to not patron them. I had a very bad recent experience with duplicate charges for 1 item from this vendor at a recent event . I called to get my money refunded or some type of credit for the duplicate charges and was told I would not be refunded or credited due to the owner Steve's negligence (Whom I was rung up by at the event and talked to over the phone) and not owning up to his mistake but blaming the customer (me). Apparently I'm not the only one that this has happened to. I used to buy from them in the past but I will never patron Anime Pavilion in the future or ever; nor will anyone whom I know that has purchased any thing from them in the past in Fairfax VA or at a convention. At the end of it all it really was the piss poor over the phone conversation and customer service I was given by the owner (of all people)....I would like to suggest that Steve takes classes on customer service and better business practices if he wants to stay in business because you never know who your customers know who they work for and what company the have license deals with...... read more

This place is about the best anime store you can find in the Washington DC area. They have tons of mangas, DVDs - some of which are hard to find anywhere else, lots of plushies and collectible such as the diecast Robotech and Voltron models. This is like an adult toy store for anime fans. To top that off, they have lots of japanese candies, food and drinks. They give discounts on everything and the employees are all so helpful. They will even do special orders for things you can't find anywhere. read more

I have only been to this shop once. I went during the magic 2011 game day tournament to draft. The store was disorganized and pushed pack the draft by 2 hours past their website posted time. The draft would have started earlier, but store employees and friends of the employees asked to push back the start time because they were also playing in the game day constructed tournament. As one of the first timers I was not happy with this. In addition during the tournament cheating occurred, so pretty much I'm never going there again. I don't have much to say about their manga and anime, but it seemed well stocked. read more

One of the worst anime retailers I've ever had to deal with. Their store is terrible as most people say here on Yelp. Really claustrophobic, horribly laid out, and lethargic shut-in level staff. Their prices are higher than retail despite the fact that you can get EVERYTHING online for about 20% cheaper than that without even looking, including free expedited shipping on almost everything. So I thought maybe I'll have a small chance of a better experience ordering from them online. I did not. I tried to send them a best offer for something on eBay, a simple offer and nothing more... no message left on the offer or anything. What I got back was a rant of about 2 paragraphs long, written in extremely broken English that I could barely understand. Lots of swears, and just an extremely unprofessional attitude. So was this the first bad experience I had with this joke of a company? Sadly, no it was not. I attempted to order something from them on Amazon, simply because their price was much cheaper than the Prime price and even had an expedited shipping option. However, after ordering, I found a much better price on eBay and within 5 minutes of ordering, I attempted to cancel the order. I waited 24 hours with no response via email, so I sent another cancellation request. No response. Instead, they decided to just go ahead and ship out the item. As enraged as I was, I decided to instantly file a return request. Within 12 hours, the return request was DENIED! I hadn't even gotten the item yet, and they denied the return request! I filed a complaint with Amazon and eventually got to return the item with my shipping cost + return shipping costs reimbursed, but that doesn't change the fact that this company pulled off an extremely unprofessional, petty thing that would even be extremely low if done by some unauthorized retailer. So, how do I feel about this company overall? Absolutely TERRIBLE. Horribly managed, and tries to pull off petty things just for their own good. Cares none for the customers and cares only for themselves and the company. It really doesn't matter how much they try to talk themselves up with things like "#1 retailer for Yu-Gi-Oh" or "one of the only stores that goes to conventions," because stuff like that doesn't matter if you can't keep your company together in any other way. If you show your game face during conventions, or have decent sales or have a staff that's good at card games, that's good for you. It's just not enough to run an entire business, especially when the rest of what you do is of EXTREMELY low quality. Do yourself a favor, and forget about this joke of a company. Use RightStuf or Amazon if you are looking for this kind of thing. read more
