Since it's a soft opening the menu was very limited but it has all the good stuff - biriyani, dosa, Manchurian/65's and the chettinad curries. The owners/managers were really helpful and gave us excellent recommendations. This place was super flavourful and great South Indian food. We ordered the chicken Chettinad and the goat biryani, and a starter of the fried dough balls. The Chettinad was the best and had a great flavour. The biryani too was very very good. However they were not very spicy, despite us requesting them to make it as spicy as they could. Delicious none the less. The dough balls weren't as flavourful and I'd slip them next time. Portions are pretty large so come hungry and be sure to take home leftovers! read more

I love the green stuff.I think it's spinach. I still miss Havelli Indian Cuisine. Their food taste way better. The waiters are very attentive. This newly renovated restaurant waiters are very slow. The food is good just very pricey. We were told that they are lack of waiters but lots of people in the kitchen like 8 people in there. I will not be coming here to eat. I will go to other Indian restaurant who will have time to serve me their good food. We waited 30-40 mins for each of the food we order the same time. The other reviews says it's good. I guess we have different treatment. Never will I come here. It was a mistake because my partner was starving. The first and the last. I'm giving 3 stars for the service. I always take out as my wife is vegetarian and these guys are best with non veg.. The chicken pieces are super dry 1/5 Anjappar Sp chicken: No salt and No spice.. Not sure why they want to call it their signature dish. Pretty disappointed. Chicken 65 - 4/5: Juicy boneless chicken pieces with good coating.. Perfect appetizer. Have to be eaten just like that. Would have loved a spicy version I make a point to try a new dish every time.. Chettinad is a special class of food from South Indian region and hard to get right. However this place exceeded my expectations. I would recommend the thali or combo platter. Very much disappointment With mutton biryani as there were hardly any pieces of mutton. We had to actually search for it. Quantity of rice was a lot. For $ 75 a tray this was a rip of. This is the best and authentic south indian food I have had in Orange county. Totally recommend to try almost all of the dishes here. We had ordered Sambhar vada as an appetizer which was delicious with aromatic spices and awakened our taste buds for what came next. The baby corn Manchurian was great too. Egg Thali was a perfect meal for one person and included variety of curries, paratha, rice and curd. All the curries had their own signature flavors and we felt like we had a home cooked, flavorful south indian meal. We also tried north Indian dishes - Veg Kadai and Butter roti. They were cooked really well. As desserts, we had Jigarthanda, which was a milk and almond based cold drink which soothed our stomachs after the main course and along with that, warm and sweet gulab jamuns to complete the dinner. read more

Bought food for $150. Around 7 dishes. Only 1 dish was ok. Worst taste. We threw some of the dish directly to trash. They don't prepare Biryani traditional way. When you ask chicken Biryani they take white basmati rice and mix it with chicken curry. Veg fried rice was even worse with uncooked veggies. On some days it is good , but most days it's bad.never order on middle of week as it is mostly stale food.also they misplaced my order two times in a row for the same item.If they didn't have it, they could have just said not available, but they took the order and purposely misplaced the same menu item as we will not go back to collect. I have been here multiple times and it never disappoints. I originally started coming here for their goat biryani (you don't find goat very often), but recently I have been trying their various curries. The chicken tikka masala is a personal favorite. It has the right amount of creaminess and spice. The chicken itself is cooked in a tandoor (at least it has that texture/flavour). You don't find that very often at Indian spots in OC. For OC this probably one of the better places to get indian food. Dropped food on my friend and no apology Dropped her purse on her floor, again no apology But the biggest issue we have with them is that they charge a lot for their portions. Used to be the best south indian food around Irvine and I rated them pretty high, however, please be aware what they are doing before you reach there 4 bad experiences in a row makes me think that they are compromising on quality and taking advantage of their good report. In the first instance they served me the rotten sauce maybe a few days old, the chef confirmed that it was bad and apologized. 2nd instance they served a drink called "Neermoru" which used to be the best south indian beverage, that I used to order every time but they served over salted water. 3rd they served ice cream when ordered for Faluda kulfi, why would anyone eat a $10 ice cream when the menu says Faluda, there was no Faluda which was unlike other instances when I ordered the same. If you are short of something tell the customer rather than consider him a fool and think they would not notice what you are trying to do. In the fourth instance they sent me almost water instead of white coconut sauce. I think they want to add water to anything they are falling short of and think that they can be-fool people. read more
