Natraj is a fast food Indian restaurant where they have everything ready. We ordered the chicken tikka masala to go and some garlic naan on the side. Curry comes with basmati rice and they are nice big portions. Irvine has tons of great Indian food but Natraj is just not up there at all. The chicken tikka masala was really tomato-y and the chicken was horrendously dry. The garlic naan was fluffy and crispy and tasted good with the curry. This place has been delicious the times we have visited and pretty standard but I came by today to redeem my birthday reward which they emailed me to use, it was a free one item combo with the purchase of a drink. I drove out of my way since this was the closest location to me, all for them to tell me at the register that they refused to accept it and that there was no way they were going to. I had already ordered my food by then and made the trip for it but it was very disappointing to be mislead. I even double checked that it was for the right location. I'm currently eight months pregnant, and was violently craving Indian food so I just ended up paying. This encounter put a bad taste in my mouth and will no longer be supporting this company. This place has turned Shady as hell. As someone that used to come here every couple of months for years, they started employing some scummy tactics to get the least food possible while making you pay the most. They have cut their food box size by 20%, and in turn raised the price 20%. The box used to be a full square, now it's a rectangle clearly meant to cut corners. Instead of meat, most of the boxes are now just liquid, with a few pieces of meat at most. Enshitification has hit this place for sure. Thats not even the worst part, when I was there I told the person ordering that I want regular naan. The server guy asked me 3 separate times what kind of naan I wanted and I said regular 3 times. Guess what he did at the checkout? He put in garlic naan and immediately tried to get me to swipe my card. I told him thats not what I ordered, why did you put it there? He just gave me a look and removed the garlic naan. This is the 2nd time they tried to slip in extra garlic naan charges, as the first time it happened I thought they just made a mistake and told them also but I didn't think anything of it at the time. The upcharge and shady practice this place is using now is just disgusting. Don't support shady business practices like this, check your receipts if you have to go but this place isn't run in a way I find ethical anymore. On a recent visit, I ordered the Chicken Curry and Chicken Vindaloo with my combo. The chicken items are always flagrant and flavorful, and I always appreciate the portion size. Unfortunately the garlic naan was disappointing this time and was tasteless. Also, the service was subpar and the staff member behind the counter was both impatient and inhospitable. Got takeout from this location for pickup via UberEats. They had a BOGO deal for chicken tikka masala which was AWESOME. Such a great value! I didn't realize they had multiple locations. I went for the mild, not the lowest (kids) but one level up. It also comes with rice. In addition, I ordered garlic naan, which came with 2 large pieces. The chicken tikka dish was so flavorful and delicious. The spice level was perfect, the chicken pieces were good chunks of breast, and the flavor was on point. It was not to creamy, felt more tomato-y. I know some chicken tikka masala dishes are heavier on the heavy cream. This one felt more healthy, while not compromising on the flavor, which I appreciated. Honestly, 1 entree with the garlic naan and rice was enough to feed both my husband and I and we had a whole entree left over for the other night. This was really worth it, price wise. They also had some tamarind and cilantro side sauces that you can ask for. I would definitely order from here again when craving Indian food. read more

I have lived nearby ever since this restaurant's opening and I can't believe I only just now tried it! I ordered the two entrée combo. Sadly, they only have 2 vegan entrée options when ordering a combo. You are able to order other vegan entrées but would have to order the full size which I didn't want to do. I was very surprised that there is dairy in their dal and I hope that one day changes. The two entrée combo I got had rice, Chana masala, and potatoes and green beans. They gave me roti instead of naan as a vegan bread option. I thought everything was absolutely delicious! I also tried their vegan Samosa which was INCREDIBLE. Unfortunately that would mean its actually not the responsibility of the driver but of the restaurant for the delay and would mean literally, that the restaurant has all the control of the delivery time as the driver did not receive the order. Glad to see ownership and accountability given that you found the order but did not mention your mistake but instead decided that it would look better on reviews to say that it was the driver's fault. Been a customer here for probably close to twenty years. It's designed to be a fast food take out Indian restaurant. Just left after ordering 2, two item combination plates. Ordered an extra naan, a garlic naan. Thought the two item combo included 2 sides but includes one side but at a reduced price. Ordered a total of 4 sides. So what started at a $14.99 plate for a two item combo cost me $60 after tax and tip. Each entree order of a chicken tikka masala included 3 pieces of chicken. A measly portion. Over the years the restaurant has changed the standard three compartment styrofoam container to a plastic container 60% in size of the styrofoam. Thinking about the food portioning strategy where they can give customers less for their money. So to make money they have increased pricing and reduced portions. Hopefully they are making more money to build their own local Taj Mahal at the expense of their customer base. Because it won't in the long term be a winning strategy. Will find another place that does not give you the feeling of being ripped off!!! read more

Never have dined in but love the food so much! The masala is mild which is ideal for me . Its creamy and the chunky pieces of chicken are all you need. The garlic naan is soft yet buttery which is wonderful too. My favorite has to be the saag paneer though tbh. I have been here many times in the past and generally really enjoy the Garlic Naan, so this time my friend and I shared one 2-item combo and 2 Garlic Naan breads (a la carte). I think I was a little sticker shocked to find out that each Garlic Naan is $4.99 which totalled to $9.89 (about the cost of a one item combo... that includes a Naan). The price is also listed $3.99 on their online Yelp menu, so prices increased. My suggestion is not to order the Naan a la carte. In addition, order items where you can dip the bread in like the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is flavorful and not spicy. You can also make little wraps with the chicken, rice and curry sauce. read more
