I was looking for a new optometrist since I was new to the area, and initially quite liked Dr. Miyamura. However, this experience was soured by my interactions with this office through text message (their preferred method of communication) thereafter the appointment. At the time of my appointment, I requested some time to think about how I want to proceed with payments since the office wanted me to purchase unusually expensive products. About a month later, I received a text message to clarify how I would like to proceed with payment, which I appreciated. However, I shortly found out from my insurance the office pre-emptively used my insurance benefits without my authorization prior to them asking how I would like to proceed which was super shady. When I tried to clarify the situation, the office backtracked what they originally said. Trust. lost. Very unprofessional. I found the communications unnecessarily microaggressive and distasteful, would not recommend this business. read more

I was having issues with my eyes and my optometrist was out of town. I was desperate to find an optometrist that could see me for a same day appointment. I called this office and they were able to fit me in that day. Very friendly staff and I really liked the doctor. She was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond. A week after being seen, they called to check up on me. I thought that was awesome. I definitely liked this office and I think I'm going to have my stuff transferred to make this my new optometrist. My optometrist is pretty awesome. I've been seeing Dr Miyamura for the past few years now, and every visit has always been positive. She has very pleasing chair side manners. She make you feel comfortable and takes the time to get to know you and your eyes. Her staff is well trained and are kind. The office is small and cozy. They don't have the biggest selection of glasses, but I usually end up finding something that I like there. The office is located in the target shopping center. Its convenient and I like to sometimes randomly walk around target after my eyes have been dilated looking all crazy eyed, shopping for no good reason. This review is based on my first visit to the office: I scheduled my exam last week I think and they picked up their phones within 2 rings. They confirmed that they are accepting new patients and proceeded to take my information. First the confirmed a time and date to make sure I could make it. Then they took down my name, phone number and insurance provider. I came here this passed Monday to take care of my annual eye exam. I wasn't happy with my previous optometrist so I decided to look upon yelp for some reviews and double check they were in my network. I arrived about 5 minutes prior to my appointment (9am appointment) and was happy to see that the office was open. Since I looked at their website, I took it upon myself to fill out the new patient form. I brought it in and was asked to wait as they prepped the room (the wait was no more than a couple of minutes). I met with Dr. Kwan and he made the appointment very easy. It's been over a year since I had my last eye exam and I forgot some protocols (where your contacts to the appointment for a contact fitting) which he politely reminded me what's best for the next visit. My vision hasn't changed, thank goodness, but since I couldn't remember the base curve of my contacts, he instructed me to look on the box and to call them back so he can approve the prescription. I called around 4:40pm Monday 7/6 and they again picked up within 2 rings. Informed them that my base curve was different than I thought and made the change quickly. I stopped by today to put an order in for contacts, which should be ready within 1-2 business days. It was a quick and easy transaction. The office is definitely smaller compared to other optometrists I've been too. But, it's nice to see the same faces, who have greeted me in a friendly manner and not feel lost or overwhelmed with information. I do suggest that prior to any eye exam, speak with your insurance provider to make sure YOU understand your insurance. Each insurance is different so don't expect each office to know what comes with what. Knowing about your insurance helped me visit go a bit faster and smoother when it came to paying my fees. It makes it easier for them, but makes it so much easier for you! =] Will i recommend this place? YES!!!!! No long waits, called back instantly. My appointment took about 30-45 minutes. As a profession, I sell stuff to eye doctors...I have about 200 offices that I sell to. But, when it came time that I needed an eye exam, Dr Miyamura is the one to go to even though it's a 45 minute drive from home. She is so down to earth, extremely thorough in her exam and one of the best eye doctors I have the pleasure of dealing with. The office staff is just as wonderful and Debbie is an optician extraordinaire! Their frame selection is great, lots of great brands and styles to choose from. Definitely worth the drive! read more

I have been going to Dr Miyamura for over 10 years now. I liked her so much that when she moved from her previous location in Stockton I followed to her new location in Rancho Cordova. She is very thorough, and truly cares about her patients. The rest of the staff has always been friendly and helpful. As far as cost I find them to be very reasonable/competitive. Excellent optometry find in Rancho Cordova. In the past I've gone to Eye Designs and I never liked how rushed and impersonal it felt. Found this place on Yelp of course. Appointment was super easy to make, although their hours are a bit inconvenient for folks who work 8 to 5. I can't remember his name, but I got scheduled with the male doctor, who looks just shy of his 15th birthday. HA! Yes, he does look way young, but he was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The office staff was very nice and helpful, in helping me pick out some new glasses and reassured me I did not look nerdy. :) Best part? My glasses were in and ready for pick up in four or five days! Quick service! These folks will def be my new optometry office and I'm making my husband, who is WAY overdue for a new prescription, get his eyes checked here soon! read more

I'm so disappointed. After my latest interaction with Dr. Miyamura and her staff I feel the need to not only leave another review, but re-evaluate my eye care professional going forward. I saw Dr. Miyamura for my yearly exam and decided to order new glasses. I chose some frames I really loved, paid for them by credit card, and was told they'd be ready in about two weeks. I paid for anti-reflective coating and high index lenses, both upgrades. Three and a half weeks after I paid for my glasses I still hadn't been contacted to come pick them up so I decided to call. I was told, over the phone that there was a problem with the anti-reflective coating at the lab, that they were re-doing them, and that they'd be ready soon. It would have been nice to have been updated at the two week mark, when they were supposed to be done, but no big deal. The next morning, someone from the office calls. They say the lab accidentally broke the frames, and that they were replacing them with the same style, but a different color because the ones I wanted were on backorder until March. I said no, I didn't want a different color, and that I'd prefer a refund if I couldn't get what I had paid for. The person on the phone then pleaded and begged me to give them a chance, to let them contact the vendor to see if they had the right frames after all. I thought it was odd how desperately they wanted to prevent the refund, and that they hadn't tried that avenue in the first place, but ultimately I wanted the frames (I picked them in the first place for a reason) so I agreed to give them until the end of the day to contact the vendor to see if frames were available. They called later in the afternoon, the vendor had the frames, and they were at the lab getting the lenses placed. They said I could pick them up later in the day. Thirty minutes later, they called and said there was a problem and they'd call back. An hour later, they call and say they're ready. It's now 4:55 on Friday, they close at 5:00. They say they'll stay open for me even though I'm coming from Rocklin. 5 minutes later they call and tell me to wait, that they're checking something. Finally, they call again and say "they're done, they're perfect, we just picked them up, they're ready for you." I drive the whole way there to pick up my "perfect" glasses. In rush hour traffic. On Friday. When I arrive, I'm handed a check for $69, the cost of the anti-reflective coating. It didn't get put on. No explanation. Not what I ordered. The refund is nice, but I paid for it for a reason. Dr. Miyamura has me try on the glasses, and before I can even look in the mirror, she takes them to adjust the arms. I try them on again, glance in the mirror briefly prior to her taking them again to adjust them. I say, "wait, something looks weird" and she says nothing. I try them on again, and finally get to look in the mirror. There is a huge flaw in the frames, one of the lenses doesn't fit right. These are not "perfect." I ask her, "What's this?" "A flaw" she says, "We'll get you new ones in March." No. These are not ok. These are not what I asked for. These are not what I paid for. I ask her why I was told to come all the way down during rush hour traffic to pick up "perfect" glasses if she knew they weren't ok, she said "I didn't know until just now." What?! How do you not check? Someone had to have seen them... Dr. Miyamura then spent time blaming the lab for breaking the frames, and her staff for not telling me. She never took any blame herself. I told her I wanted a refund. I was furious that I was going to end up spending close up two hours in the car, away from my husband and six month old son, for no reason. Dr. Miyamura wrote me a second check for the difference (I already had one for the anti-reflective that never got put on). I told her no, I paid by card, I wanted my refund back on my card. She agreed and processed my refund. I then drive back home, empty handed and fuming mad. Once I get home I double check my receipt. She refunded me for $69 less than what I was owed. I waited almost a week for a check to come in the mail for the difference. I don't know if they've become desperate for the profit that glasses purchases bring and that's why they fought so hard to stop my refund. I don't know if they've gotten lazy and just don't care about their product. I don't know if the lab is to blame. I know that I felt lied to on the phone, and deceived in person, and that I will not be going back again. read more

The docs are great. The service/selection re: buying eyeglasses is blah. Some of the staff can be a little snarky. The new people are a lot better. I'm going to go to costco next time for better prices and service re: the glasses since they have become a newly added provider. We have vsp and have been coming here for years. Dr. Miyamura is one of the most personable and attentive eye doctors I've had, and I've worn glasses since grade school. Her staff is friendly, and I don't have to wait long to get my new glasses usually. She helped me find innovative solutions to the headaches I was getting, without costing me a fortune. You never have to wait too long to get called back, because they start the exam almost immediately. Afterwards, you get individualized attention and recommendations for frames and lenses, and they let you take your time to find your perfect pair. Her staff is helpful, considerate, and informed regarding insurance and such. What I am most grateful for is her recommendations regarding specific issues I've had with dry eyes and other minor pathologies. I came to Dr Miyamura as a referral from VSP. While I have been through optometry experiences with my kids, I don't regularly go to eye doctor and up until recently have never had issues with my vision. ( Ahh the 40's). Honestly I didn't really put a lot of thought into where to go and just picked someplace quick and convenient so I could get in and out and get it done. My experience in the office was fantastic! From the second I walked in the door I was greeted by the warm and attentive front desk staff. I filled out my paperwork and was brought back for testing within seconds. After a few tests done by assistant I was brought into examination room and Dr Miyamura came right in. She has a great "beside manner" and was warm and quite funny. After going through the exam it was time for frame selection. Unlike the bigger eye glass centers - the service was personalized and even the frame selection process I was waited on like a queen. The have a great selection of quality name brand and designer frames and I thought the pricing was great considering the quality. I highly recommend for everyone - young and old - as a matter of fact I have already scheduled appointments later this month for my 3 daughters. read more
