There's a small dressing room & I guess I changed fast? Measuring was quick as well. She checked with to make sure I was okay with the length she penciled in. My dress was ready for pick up in a week. Honestly, I don't even know how she hemmed it, because I don't see the lines/threads at all. It was flawless. Nothing to complain about. The parking lot exit is a bit narrow and claustrophobic, but there are lots of empty spots there. I found Ann over 3 years ago. Since then, I've brought over Halloween costumes and dresses that I found from thrift/discount stores for her to alter and turn into unique, high-quality pieces. Her sewing techniques are amazing! I just give her my thoughts on how I'd love to see each item, and she takes it a step further to enhance the look. I wish I had taken before and after photos. Her shop isn't set up to just walk in at any time during her business hours. You have to book time with her to do a fitting, which honestly, I really like. During my appointment, I'll get her full attention and I know she can focus on exactly what I am asking for. She writes down all the alternations that need to be done on the receipt, so you know what you're paying for. I consider her prices fair. I purchased a wedding dress from BHLDN on sale, therefore the size I purchased is one size bigger. I was referred to Ann by a friend and I came about two months prior to my civil ceremony at SF City Hall to get my wedding dress altered. Because of the material of my dress, we did it in sessions. Other than the waist area, which was tailored after the first appointment, I came in a couple times after the first appointment to measure and tailor each layer of the skirt to ensure smooth flow of the train. Overall, I am pleased with how it turns out. I appreciate Ann's professionalism and hospitality. However, I deduct one star because the bust area could be tighten a little bit more. Ann did offer that I could go back anytime for additional alterations but I unfortunately did not get a chance to do so prior to the event. Tip: For wedding dresses, always plan at least two months prior for alterations! Also, try on a few times after to make sure it's a good fit! I have this awful habit of browsing Rent the Runway for cheap dresses, and have bought a few $20 dresses that just didn't quite fit right. Enter Ann! Yes, her alterations did in some cases cost more than what I paid for the dress, but also, I now have cute wearable dresses, as opposed to dust-gatherers or donations. Just make sure to give her a week or.so to work; her business is plenty popular and she has plenty in queue at any given time. I am thoroughly satisfied with the alterations I've done so far and would absolutely trust her with any level of work. She charged me $20 for a simple strap shortening, $35 for a shorter hem on a lined dress and $45 to shorten the hem of a lined, flared dress--this one was trickier and also involved removing buttons but it came out great!! read more

My washing machine made a hole in two of my husband's favorite and pretty new Nike hoodies (near the front pocket area). So took them in to see if they can be repaired. The owner was so nice, and even suggested how to take care of these in the wash so it doesn't keep happening (turn inside out and put in a laundry bag to protect them)! She took my hoodie and said she could just do it right now, which I was already grateful for. After finishing up my repair, which was extremely quick and efficient, she didn't ask me to pay. Came here after the one I used to go to became inconsistent with their store hours. Ann was very accomodating & friendly. I took two pants to be hemmed and she finished it the next day. She also gave suggestions on the best length for the height and type of shoes to wear. When I picked up my pants the next day which was just a bit over 24 hrs, the hemming was done well. Okay, she remembers her customers and does an excellent job. However, she's TERRIBLY UNORGANIZED and will HOLD YOUR CLOTHINGS FOR A MONTH!! I dropped my few of my tops on May 8th and was promised to have it done by May 15th. She kept delaying my clothing and promised to finish my last top on May 31st. When I called back to pick it up on June 1st, she said she cannot finished it. Its been a month and she promised me to finish it the day before. And there you go: she asked for more extra time. When I said I REALLY REALLY need it that day (I was going out of town soon), VOILA!! ITS DONE IN TWO HOURS!! More over, she added extra charges because SHE FORGOT TO MENTION IT" to me the first time. She added charges two times I came here for alterations. On the forst occasion, I asked for some take in. Then she added bust and said "its for the top". Then charge me extra. I did not ask for it. I should have known better after the first occurance. You tell me whats going on here. I understand she has a lot of customers in summer time. Business hours state online that the shop opens at 10:00am on Saturdays. The business hours also state that on the shop doors. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case this Saturday 5/5. Extremely inconvenient and a waste of time going in to see that the shop is CLOSED on Saturday. There's no sign with an apology or excuse either! There was just a little clock that said "will return at 12:00pm"... Very rude & inconsiderate! Ann is a little pricier than other places but it is also true what they say. You get what you pay for. She will not only listen to exactly what you want/need but make it better! Highly recommend for small jobs and big. I have had two bridesmaids emergencies where the dresses were delivered very late and also very huge. I had two weeks to get it fixed and was freaking out. Both times Ann was able to fix the dresses and in that short time. I could not believe it! Everything wedding related is like years to get done. I was so appreciative of this and from now on I wont go anywhere else. I have noticed Ann has gotten popular over the years (which is a good thing!) and has a bit of a wait but it's ok! I dropped off a VERY last minute request for Ann on Tuesday and requested it be ready by Friday. It was my wedding dress, which had been botched by another tailor in the area. My wedding is on sunday but I have to leave on Saturday at about 8am, hence the EXTREME rush. She doesn't usually take clients on with such last minute requests, however, after she saw how badly the previous tailor ruined my dress, she sympathized with me and said, she couldn't say no to me and had to fix it because she didn't want me walking down the aisle like that. Right when I put it on, she knew there was something off with my dress and she spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out the best way to fix the dress and she offered about two solutions and then came up with the best method. She was SO helpful and very kind through the whole process. She said she would try her best to have it ready by Friday but it would be cutting it close and I JUST got a text from her(Thursday night) saying it was ready. I haven't seen the dress yet but her eagerness to help and customer service warrant this 5 stars and more info could. Highly recommend her! read more

I needed to hem my dress and turned to Yelp for help - Ann came up first in the reviews for South Bay area! Someone mistakenly (?) left a review saying Ann no longer takes new clients - so I gave her a call to check. Ann is DEFINITELY still taking new clients! My dress is a full-length tube dress, with chiffon exterior and 2 layers underneath. I just needed it hemmed and shortened, and it costs $55 (for hemming 3 layers) which seems fair. Ann was very thorough, had me wear the shoes I'm matching the outfit and stand in front of the full-length mirrors. She proceeds to measure all 3 layers, explaining how chiffon should only be altered when worn (versus laid flat on table), cut the extra fabric off at floor height, and measured again. She was very detail-oriented, showed me how the dress will look at 0.5 / 1 /1.5/ 2 inches from the floor! I'll update this review when I pick up the dress next week :) read more

I've been here to have my silk shirt repaired. The owner restored it nicely and the price was reasonable. Another time I came by to fix another shirt, she just told me how to fix it myself and told me no need to pay to get it repaired. Very honest and nice service. I personally like that as it's just nice to be remembered, haha. in regards to the work, i brought 4 dressed to her and she did an awesome job i can't even tell they were hemmed. 2 were made out of that sheer material and had a slit, that cost $20 each due to the slit. the other 2 were more of the cotton fabric and again just needed to be hemmed up...those cost $18 each since no slit. One of the dresses the straps were held together with the fabric and button, she noticed they were starting to tug and suggested to sew it on the line...leave the fabric. it was a nice offer esp since that being tugged and then ripping off would not be a good look. :) her turn around for the dresses were awesome esp since i could tell she was busy. brought the dresses in tuesday when she opened (noon) and then picked up thursday, brought 2 in at a time. read more

I walked into this shop based off reviews. I was looking for someone close by to do an odd (sewing) job. I needed someone to sew a hijab on a dri fit long sleeves shirt. My daughter is a hijabi athlete. Whoever the genius is that designed the Nike hijab, made it way too small/short so when she's actually running and/or playing sports it flies up (which defeats the whole purpose). She'd been pinning it to her shirt up until now for every practice and it was super annoying, not to mention time consuming, to put it on and take it off. I decided to find a seamstress to see if they could just sew it together for us. First off, the parking lot entrance is very narrow. If you have a big car driver beware. The walls and barriers are all marked up so I'm guessing some unfortunate individuals took the turn too fast or misjudged how narrow it is. Due to covid the door remains locked. You can text and or knock if it's during her open hours. She's very responsive via text. She has a plastic barrier between the customer and the register where you pay. Everyone wears masks and they have sanitizer on hand. Ann is so incredibly sweet, even though it was our first meeting it felt like I was talking to a cool Aunty I've known my whole life, loved her. Her work is also flawless, turnaround was super quick. And even though I'm pretty sure she's never seen a Nike hijab before and was a little confused at first as to what I wanted she took on the job and delivered exactly what I had in mind. Since then we've had 4 more done. She's an expert now for anyone facing similar hijab issues. My daughter is so thankful to not to have to pin her hijab to her shirt anymore. I met Ann through a great friend of mine who highly recommended her for every alteration service under the sun -- even wedding alterations, despite the fact that she herself would be unable to work with Ann as the salon from which she bought her bridal gown provided alterations for free. Nevertheless, we were both able to test her gown alteration abilities using our respective bridesmaid dresses as guinea pig garments (we were both each others' maid of honor and our weddings were merely a few months apart). To my picky delight, Ann did a wonderful thorough job and was very patient with my precise expectations in spite of her supremely busy schedule. Indeed, the woman is busy for a reason! Wearing a bridesmaid dress that was sewn very well to my body for my best friend's wedding, I now felt as if I could trust no one else to handle the momentous job of altering my wedding gown. Asking Ann to do this, I was worried because she hesitated at first, knowing that she was super busy with other dresses during that time. Still, after my pleading, she squeezed me in to her schedule and after several fittings over a period of months (which is characteristic of all wedding gown alterations) the dress turned out exactly the way I wanted -- super small at the waist but not to the point of total suffocation, with the elaborate french bustle with strong sturdy ties underneath, the cascading form of the pickups, the perfect graceful length, etc. Without question, Ann spent so much time working on my dress in order to make me happy. Significantly, she also spent a great deal of time with me during my appointments, not to mention the time she spent with my mother for her dress and my bridesmaids for their dresses. To top it all off at the very end, when we arranged to have my wedding dress steamed pressed through another vendor, Ann supervised the process to make sure that everything would be done right. Evidently, Ann has an 'above and beyond' work ethic that anyone -- especially a bride -- can wholeheartedly appreciate. Did I mention that her prices are extremely reasonable as well? For the quality of work she does, you receive an EXTREMELY good value. Needless to say, I highly recommend Ann for her creative genius, her precision, her patience, her hard work, and her sweet personality.
