This room also had a VERY big nice TV - much larger TV than in the other rooms! This was our first time to Crescent City and of course we wondered if the fog horn would be a problem (especially given the "warning" on the hotel website). It wasn't an issue for us - but we didn't sleep with the door to the balcony open or anything. You can definitely hear it... but it's not super loud and/or overbearing... when I think "foghorn" I usually think about the super loud blaster that they use at 49er games or something, but this wasn't that at all - not even close! The TV was a little bit of a challenge to figure out, but we figured it out eventually. I can't say that I was crazy about the bathroom layout... with the sink part being in the main room, but the upside to that is there was a LOT of counter space, much more than would have been available otherwise. After a little reflection, I realized there really wasn't a better way to lay things out. I just had to get used to it... and now, I wouldn't hesitate to get the same room again.

Ryan at the front desk indicated that while he technically could modify our reservation, we'd have to go through Expedia since we booked with them - sure, not a problem. I talk to an Expedia agent who says yep, we should be able to modify the reservation. They call the Oceanview Inn, speak with Ryan, who says nope, no can do. When I went back to the lobby (still on the night of check-in) to ask Ryan what happened, he became confrontational. The staff here are unwilling to help their guests or make even minor modifications to reservations, even for services that have not and will not be rendered. Location: Convenient location close to the beach, highway, and Redwood National Park. Other than the national park there is very little to do in Crescent City. Not many good restaurant options. Room: Antiquated. Hasn't been updated in 25 years, uncomfortable bed. The upgraded room we reserved was quite large, however, the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors all night. Also, the fog horn blows every 8 seconds. Walking to & from the room we noticed the hallways smell like strongly of urine.

I loved this place!!! I didn't realize it would be as amazing as it was until I got there. The grounds were beautiful. The interior was pretty and organized with unique and antique decor. We stayed in the African suite. It was cozy and extremely comfortable. We didn't have time to use the jacuzzi tub, but it looked spectacular. The complimentary sherry in the decanter was extremely classy and the perfect nightcap to our evening. The long deck was amazing to see the fog roll in and the sun come up. The sounds of the fountain were very relaxing. David was so accommodating and friendly. It is obvious that they take pride in giving their guests outstanding experiences. David's breakfast was so delicious and gave us the fuel we needed for a day of hiking at Redwood. He also gave some recommendations based on his experiences in the area. My only regret is that we didn't arrive earlier so we could have spent more time there. We didn't arrive until late. I highly recommend this place. I was so impressed by the room, service, grounds, and breakfast. Thanks David!!

Richard and Ana stay onsite. After being welcomed, shown our room and given a quick tour, we only saw them again at breakfast the next morning. THE BREAKFAST: Wow, just wow. I'm a foodie so when I go somewhere to eat it better be something I can't easily replicate at home. Ana really out does herself with a multiple course breakfast. Very filling, clean eating, freaking DELICIOUS! Everything from the delicate slightly-sweet breads to the hearty main course which always includes eggs in some form, to the fresh fruit to the handmade desserts accompanying every breakfast. The coffee is safe (not too strong, not too weak, not at all bitter). They also offer loose leaf tea if coffee is not your thing. VERY HAPPY with Breakfast prepared by Ana. Breakfast is worth the trip all by itself *YUM* Their attention to detail is exhausting. There are too many amenities to list and even little snacks on tables though out the house. We had access to a full sized fridge/freezer downstairs as well as use of a microwave and toaster oven if we needed it. I can't think of a single thing that we needed; Richard and Ana have thought of everything that you might need during your stay. Arky's uses Hotel quality sheets and towels (all 100% cotton). The bed in the garden view room was incredibly comfortable (king: bamboo pillowtop mattress) with an additional bamboo mattress topper. Plenty of pillow of various soft/firmness. I wouldn't change a thing. I slept like a rock. I'm not sure how many rooms they rent out each night, but there seemed to be different couples and even an entire family staying during our time there. Never once did we hear anyone else in the house unless we left our room. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this place over staying at a local hotel; they are priced about the same.

Stayed here on a Tuesday night during the middle of a long road trip. Place was quiet and eerie. With your window open, you are only accompanied by the lapping of distant waves. That is genuinely it. All of the workers were nice, the mattresses were extremely comfy, and the views were beautiful. All components of a great stay. Truthfully maybe this place doesn't deserve five stars. But I am rooting for this establishment. I hope you all enjoy oceanfront lodge as much as I did.

We thought it was going to be a beautiful stay, according to the website. Boy, we're were surprised. We arrived after a long drive. We decided to drop off our luggage and head out for dinner. After dinner we did a little sightseeing by driving around. We returned back to our hotel around 8:00 pm. I always pull back the sheets and mattress pad. I usually do that as soon as i get the room, but, we were too hungry and exhausted. Too my surprise. I found something that resembles bed bugs along with hair and stains all over. I was shocked. We stay and travel a lot. I have never in my life stayed in filth. We immediately called down to the front. A young man showed up and had no clue what to do. I said. We need to change rooms. He left and came back up to tell us we couldn't because we have been here more than 30 minutes. What??? Are you serious?? Then i asked if we could have housekeeping come and change our bedding? He said there was nobody there. I then pulled up the chair cushion and.. disgusting. Food stains and god only knows what else. My husband and i packed up because there's no way we were going to stay in this room with potential bed bugs along. The kid said it looked like bird food. Another ridiculous comment. It was blood or poop. I took photos and videos because this should not be allowed. I couldn't hardly get out of the back door because it was rusty and hard to open. Then the balcony was terrifying to be on. It looked like we would go right through it. The chair was dirty so we couldn't sit on it. We asked for our money back, but still haven't received it. I will not sit with my mouth closed on this one. They board of Health. Needs to get involved. If there is blood or feces on your bed. That's a serious problem . We called a near by hotel and they instantly told us to come over. We did and it was beautiful! Clean, safe and a super friendly helpful staff. That would be great thank you.. I wouldn't even give them a one star.

The steps and railings could use a bit of updating for safety and the stairs leading towards the beach area were in much need of repair, to the point that it was not a good idea to venture too far down that path as the lower steps dropped down further than the rest. The handrail at the very bottom was frail and really should not be allowed public access without being made much sturdier. When parking, it required you to back all the way out to the roadway. I truly cannot say anything negative about this place as it really made our Redwoods trip much more memorable with how cozy the Requa Inn is. I was sad to leave. We were looking for a place to stay during our trip to the Redwood National Park and had planned to drive all along the coast, so needed a base for a few days. We found The Historic Requa Inn in Klamath, which seemed to be a good location as it was central to everywhere we wanted to go, which was key. But I didn't expect it to be as outstanding as it was. We arrived to the hotel before the concierge left, just in time, too, as the hotel doors lock at 8pm. We had no idea until we arrived and were told this helpful information, along with everything else. Since we got into town late, we didn't realize that everything in town was closed for dinner. The kind staff saw us trying to find a place to grab dinner, so he offered us his sandwich. Way too kind of him! Of course we politely declined and ended up eating snacks on our first night, but that just shows you how kind the staff are here. We had breakfast here the following morning, which was delicious. Even locals come here to this hotel restaurant for breakfast, so it's not just guests. The food is very tasty, hearty and is freshly made. I never ate anything here that I wouldn't get again. It was a great way to start our long day of hiking and adventures. Because the hotel was built in 1914, it's historic and charming. All of the hotel rooms are uniquely decorated, so no room is the same. It had antique furniture and decore. The lobby area and bedrooms do not have a TV, encouraging guests to enjoy the simple and classic, as they have puzzles, board games, and books in the lobby area for guests to use. I loved that. I especially loved reading out on the deck, looking out to the river and road. They also offer free coffee, tea and hot cocoa for guests and put out in the middle of the day port that you can pour yourself a glass of and freshly baked cookies. PLUS, since we visited during the Independence Day holiday weekend, the hotel offered guests a complimentary BBQ meal on July 4th! And it was not just standard burgers and hot dogs, they made grilled chicken with different salads, sides and fresh fruit. It was a great way to connect with other hotel guests over this shared, celebratory meal. Our bedroom was very comfortable. It had everything we needed, with wifi, a fan, night light in the bathroom, handmade soaps, a complimentary bottle of wine, tons of blankets, etc. Even though the room didn't have AC, we had no trouble cooling down with the fan and open windows that had fresh air coming through. I also loved that the hotel was in the town of Klamath, with no traffic noise or city lights, so the nights were quiet and peaceful. We really did not want to leave this wonderful hotel. So glad I was able to stay here and learn about the area. I would happily stay here again.
