I stayed at the Ocean View Inn back in February 2026 and I could not have been more pleased with my stay. The parking lot was clean and there were no broken-down cars or people hanging out in the parking lot. The hotel appears to have numerous security cameras around the property. My room was clean, the shower was amazing, and the view, sound, and smell of the Pacific Ocean was amazing. The foghorn did not bother me at all! The only thing that I would recommend is that peep holes be installed on the hotel room doors, so you know who is there before opening the door. The Oceanview Inn is a quirky, older hotel, but is clean, well-maintained and overall feels very nice. The front desk and manager took great care of us and we had a great stay. The breakfast was good and the surprising star of our stay was the yummy coffee/hot chocolate machine in the lobby-- it was so good! Overall the hotel felt very nice and the parking lot felt safe-- I had just bought a new car before our trip and felt a bit paranoid about it getting broken into, but the parking lot felt very safe and we had nothing to worry about. I definitely recommend staying here, especially if you're visiting the Redwoods, this is a great location. read more

Spent three nights here, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again... no issues with the room... we did have an upgraded room with balcony towards the water and a jacuzzi tub. This room also had a VERY big nice TV - much larger TV than in the other rooms! This was our first time to Crescent City and of course we wondered if the fog horn would be a problem (especially given the "warning" on the hotel website). It wasn't an issue for us - but we didn't sleep with the door to the balcony open or anything. You can definitely hear it... but it's not super loud and/or overbearing... when I think "foghorn" I usually think about the super loud blaster that they use at 49er games or something, but this wasn't that at all - not even close! The TV was a little bit of a challenge to figure out, but we figured it out eventually. I can't say that I was crazy about the bathroom layout... with the sink part being in the main room, but the upside to that is there was a LOT of counter space, much more than would have been available otherwise. After a little reflection, I realized there really wasn't a better way to lay things out. I just had to get used to it... and now, I wouldn't hesitate to get the same room again. read more

Would not recommend. Service: Checked in on a Sunday night. We were hoping to modify our reservation to check out one day early. Ryan at the front desk indicated that while he technically could modify our reservation, we'd have to go through Expedia since we booked with them - sure, not a problem. I talk to an Expedia agent who says yep, we should be able to modify the reservation. They call the Oceanview Inn, speak with Ryan, who says nope, no can do. When I went back to the lobby (still on the night of check-in) to ask Ryan what happened, he became confrontational. The staff here are unwilling to help their guests or make even minor modifications to reservations, even for services that have not and will not be rendered. Location: Convenient location close to the beach, highway, and Redwood National Park. Other than the national park there is very little to do in Crescent City. Not many good restaurant options. Room: Antiquated. Hasn't been updated in 25 years, uncomfortable bed. The upgraded room we reserved was quite large, however, the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors all night. Also, the fog horn blows every 8 seconds. Walking to & from the room we noticed the hallways smell like strongly of urine. read more

Skip this place. The front desk person was mechanical, which didn't help when we saw the room. I had failed to note from the pictures that the sink was in the bedroom and not in the bathroom where it belongs. If you travel alone, that's not a problem. But with 2 sleeping in the room, one person cannot turn on the light to use the sink, without waking the other. A remodel is in order. Other DIY problems at this place: double front doors do not meet in the center; electrical sockets are installed upside down; motion detector or electric air freshener (per the front desk) lights up every few minutes, waking me up; walls and ceiling/floors are not insulated, so sound travels between rooms. It was a clean hotel, and the breakfast was decent. But that's not good enough. read more

We stayed in Ocean View Inn for our trip up to the Redwoods. Like much of Crescent City, this property is pretty old and dated. Although you can tell a lot of care is put in daily to keep the property cleaned and maintained. The room themselves, although outdated and in desperate need of a makeover, are very large and clean. Housekeeping is done daily, and you can tell the housekeepers are very thorough in their job. Our room did however have a rather off-putting mold smell, which we basically assumed was plaguing the rest of the property as well so we just put up with it. There is also a loud foghorn that goes off throughout the day, but we just learned to tune it out after a while. Free breakfast is available every morning. Nothing too exciting, as it's just a very simple stable of bagels, cereal, coffees, juices and fruits. But they do a pretty good job of making sure there are plenty available throughout the breakfast duration. There was one day during our stay however in which they were hosting an event in their private conference room, so they dragged the trash can from the dining area into the conference room. This left all of the guests eating breakfast without a trash can, which was rather inconvenient. Price was affordable, and we thankfully did not have to deal with any vehicle break-ins during our stay. Free parking is available in their massive private lot out front. read more

Easy to find right on hwy 101 a bit south of the town proper. The rooms were spacious and had all the amenities needed. Although others may find it a bit far, our group walked to the lighthouse, Rumiano's Cheese store, and a nice restaurant and got our steps in. read more

It is a shabby hotel in the heart of the booking shore. The room was enormous , clean and quite . The only problem was there was a beep sound every 5 to 6 seconds coming from down stairs , a sound like a fax sound. Anyways it was a great stay. read more

I've been going to Crescent City for 25 years...I usually stay at the Anchor Inn... Tried the Ocean Lodge both hard passes! One does not serve breakfast the other hotel never can get their T v's to work. I'm so happy that I stayed at the Ocean View for 3 nights! It was super clean ...the staff was professional and polite and the breakfast was absolutely incredible! I will come here again for sure I highly recommend this place!! They should advertise this hotel as having the largest hotel rooms in Crescent City. I had a in- room jacuzzi tub. It was great after a day of hiking in the Redwood Forest. It could use an update. Wallpaper border and general decor indicate haven't been updated in a decade. It was clean and no obvious wear on the furniture or other places. I picked it for the microwave and refrigerator in room. I also enjoy the fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, oatmeal and cereal continental breakfast until 10am. It was quiet in general, however a regular fog alert noise was heard from a mile away warning sailors. The WiFi is free, but spotty. read more

Weird that this place gets such great reviews, but maybe when compared to other places in the area that is why? Floors and walls are paper thin. You can hear everything in all surrounding rooms. Everything about this hotel screams bad 80s prom location. Then there is the fog horn that goes off every 8 seconds all night long. Do yourself a favor and keep driving to another town. This was our first stop on a roadtrip up the Oregon coast. We started out by seeing the nearby Redwoods and staying here based on reviews. It is outdated, but well maintained and very clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. We actually got a spa tub and a water view - loved both! Everything was bit older, but it worked! They had a nice little breakfast and are super close to Jedediah Smith Redwood Park, so that is bonus. They will tell you and it effects all the Crescent City hotels near the water, but there is a fog horn that goes 24 hours a day every 8 seconds (I think). Astonishingly, I did not notice it all until like 6a when it was dead quiet and all of a sudden it was like was is that?! Very soft sound with the windows closed, but it was audible (so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper). read more

Not a bad place for the price and location. CLEAN.... Which is most important. Friendly staff. 3rd floor stay, this was a quick stay over while traveling for business. Decor is definitely old nautical theme, clearly with its location. Quirky but nice. Rooms are huge, like many other have mentioned. In room wallpaper and comforter are a bit dated, but I wasn't there for the looks. Bed was comfortable and actually had a good sleep. For others- When booking, you might want to call ask for the "ocean view" side of the hotel if you want the view. Again I wasn't there for that, however the non ocean side faces the highway and road noise is audible. Shower head height was accommodating of tall people (hallelujah ) Didn't really partake in their breakfast, but it's a nice quick spread to start your day. Constructive criticism for Mr. Charles who will undoubtably see this. 2 things. 1) being over 6' I can see above the shower wall inserts used. Caulking between the top of the shell and drywall is a must. If not, you can see the gap (not a good look) and more importantly, water/steam/moisture can get under the drywall/paint causing mold, peeling paint etc. Lastly, we aren't actually on a ship and the great TP shortage of 2020 is past. Let's upgrade from the "there's a chance you might violate yourself" 1 ply lol. Overall, will stay again my next time in the region. read more

Need a place to stay in Crescent City, California? Ocean View Inn is a good choice. They are not one of the usual hotel chains that we tend to stay in. I'm guessing they are locally owned. Earlier this year, we had the pleasure to stay in Crescent City. My wife and I have spent some nights in Crescent City before, but for the rest of the family it was their first time. My wife and I both thought that Ocean View Inn looked modern from the outside. When we walked into the lobby I was immediately reminded of Lighthouse Inn located down the street. The interior of the lobby looked like Lighthouse Inn. I asked the staff member if they were sister hotels, and he said they were. So it was no surprise that when we walked into our room the layout was very familiar. The rooms and interior of the hotel could use a makeover. Looks kind of old fashioned inside the room with those colorful bedspreads. Still, it is charming in its own way. The family did not like Ocean View Inn as much as us. A few of the family members felt they were in a haunted hotel. Lol! They said that they did not sleep too well in their rooms. I think that Ocean View is a nice place to stay for the value. Like a bigger version of Lighthouse Inn down the street which my wife and I like. Too bad there was no breakfast offered due to the whole covid mess. I, for one, would stay here again in the future. This is the cleanest most comfortable room we have been in in the last 10/days. We saw many families with kids in the lobby. (There's a little aquarium next door.) But we haven't heard any kid noise at all. I want to come here again withy whole bunch. I just want to work here and stay forever. Nice ambiance and friendly staff too. Seriously I love this place!!! The building is no cookie cutter hotel. Super relaxing and pleasant. Deep bathtub to relax in. Heater in our bathroom. 2 queens, a dining area, a recliner, two loveseats, a huge mirror over a huge counter and sink that 3 women could comfortably use at one time. And did I mention its so nice and clean! P.s. If you have a shark lover, you can touch one at the aquarium next door! read more

Nothing fancy (there's not much "fancy" in Crescent City) but friendly desk clerk and the room very clean, spacious, with a comfortable bed. Only the desk chair was rather grimy, and well used. My room had a window that opened to get fresh ocean air, which was a nice bonus, as I'm not crazy about air conditioning. Coffee, tea, bagels, toaster, cereal and milk, and fresh fruit (apples) were offered for breakfast adjacent to the lobby. Overall, I felt comfortable and safe. It was a great place to get some rest on a road trip. And after staying at a creepy motel along I-5, this was a real treat! read more

This is a cute place to stay with an awesome view, there was only one thing that bothered me: Stained sheets. That's kinda not what a person wants to see when they climb into bed after a long day; the rest of the place made up for it though. We got a king bed in a room with a fantastic ocean view, the room was very large and clean and it was only $79 with a $10 military discount. What we got the price was great! The reviews were really good for this hotel but I wasn't excepting very much. Especially for the rate. Oh wow was surprised! Okay so it's not the most posh remodeled hotel. But it's in great condition and spotlessly clean! And the view is absolutely beautiful from my room! Oh and I haven't got to the staff yet! Friendly, helpful, caring! The front desk clerk that checked me in was amazing! She gave me directions to places I wanted to see and even made a suggestion of something I might like and oh I would have been so sorry to not have known that was there. She seemed to know what would interest me. The outdoors ! She didn't send me to a tourist destination. It was so cool. I wish I was spending days here instead of just one night. There is a note in the front lobby talking about the fog horn every 8 seconds that was a little annoying but it was definitely worth it to stay the beds were comfortable and they did everything they could to help us stay one more night after a reservation our reservation they were very sweet people the customer service was excellent they even talked to us about possibly moving to Crescent City and job opportunities They offer a nice Continental Breakfast in a quaint setting and the bagels and fruit are fresh. It is conveniently located by the aquarium and a restaurant I wouldn't have chosen to stay anywhere else If we go back I will definitely reserve a room here again! read more

Decent Hotel. Its not a marriot but its not a super 8 or motel 6 either. Giant rooms. Clean n comfy. The master bed in the suite had mattress that was very rough but queen mattresses were decent. Nonetheless, There were no druggies or crackheads as someone else had pointed out. The staff was really friendly. Overall nice experienxe especially since we paid 130 for a 2 bdrm suite which would have cost twice as much 10 miles further at motel trees for practically the same or worse furniture. read more

Room 1: toilet and shower head broken Room 2: Someone else's clothing was in it, air conditioning broken, no screens on the window so couldn't leave open overnight. Stayed here on our way down the Oregon coast. Although the accommodations are outdated it was one of the more comfortable places we stayed at. The continental breakfast was good and well maintained! Beds were super comfortable! We were unable to keep our window open at night due to not having a screen in the window but the air conditioner was sufficient and kept the place cool. Location of the Inn was near many business' making it convenient for our large group. I appreciated that they had travel sized dial soap as opposed to an obscure brand of soap for us to use. This is a reasonablely priced motel and reasonably clean except the shampoo was only half full, leaving me to the conclusion it had not been replaced since the last guest used it. In the current Covid atmosphere this is simply unacceptable. My other complaint was that the Wi Fi did not reach our room. It literally petered out in the hallway by our door. When I complained to the front desk man, he just shrugged and said that he was aware of the problem and that at least 10 other guests had the same problem. Obviously the management is unwilling to upgrade the system and put in more routers or repeaters. And they were unwilling to make any price adjustments for the substantial inconvenience. When I checked in, I was told that halfway through my stay, I would need to negotiate my rate. When I went to do that, I found that I was only booked through that date and that I had to leave because there were no rooms for me. That day I found out that other people at my event got rooms in the ocean view inn that I just had to leave. I won't be back!! read more

No. You are in Crescent City and this place is a great, CLEAN place to stay with great rates and if you are facing the back part, a view of the bay/ocean! I have stayed here a number of times on business and overtime, clean, friendly staff and a great corporate rate (they have other discounts as well). Also, I feel my vehicle is safe in their lot.
