I heard some mixed reviews of the restaurant from family and friends so, of course, I needed to formulate my own opinion. When we first entered the tavern, I truly thought it was a seat yourself kinda spot...there was no one who greeted us at the door... everyone looked kind of lost, like they were ALL new. Restaurant was rather empty at this point, so we weren't sure if they were just opening or if they were in the middle of a shift change. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, then another 10 min waiting for servers to figure out who was taking our table. All the servers seemed to look to this one dude for answers but he also didn't seem to know what he was doing. Seems strange for a restaurant not to have designated staff manage the front of the house...or some sort of a plan. Nonetheless, our server was really nice - she greeted us with a smile and got our first round of drinks to the table right away! I wish I remembered her name! I believe she wore glasses. Since we were a little bit of a larger party, we sat outside. That just meant we weren't really a priority. So if you go there...sit inside, or else they might forget about you. No fault of the servers! The organization just seems funky. That can definitely make or break a restaurant. All in all, drinks were good, food was mid, and service was decent but unorganized. I'd come back only because I'm a glutton for punishment and I have too much faith. So take this the way you want!

We bagan with oysters from Maine and PEI as our starter (really nice variety available) crab soup, fish & chips for me. My wife enjoyed a glass of Malbec wine from Argentina, and filet mignon. We didn't have to wait too long (less than 10 mins) as the table we ended up at was vacant from the time we got there. It was the table right outside the front door. It was a little small for a party of 4 plus a toddler but we made due as we were all hungry and it was the first available without a reservation. What we ordered: - BROILED OYSTERS (garlic butter, parmesan, pecorino romano, parsley, panko) - NEW ENGLAND WHOLE CLAM CHOWDER (New Zealand wild cockles, potatoes, parsley, light cream broth) - LOBSTER BISQUE (house made lobster stock, cream, lobster meat garnish) - 5 OZ FILET MIGNON (caramelized shallot whipped potatoes, french beans, bearnaise) and I added Crab Imperial Topping for an additional $10 - COMBINATION PLATE (brussel sprouts, lemon brown butter, fried dayboat scallops, jumbo shrimp, crabcakes, capers, potato hash, french beans with white wine butter sauce) - ANGUS BURGER (6 oz house made beef patty, brioche bun, aged white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion) and we updated the fries to Market Fries - LOBSTER ROLL (toasted croissant, ¼ lb. warm lobster meat, butter, whole grain mustard aioli, fresh cut fries) - KIDS FISH AND CHIPS (battered haddock, fresh-cut fries, and classic tartar sauce) - MIKE'S SMOKED BARREL OLD FASHION (3nf Jack Daniel's #7, maple syrup, muddled orange, smoked glass) - BERRY & BASIL MOCKTAIL (Blueberry balsamic shrub, orange blossom tea, muddled orange, and simple syrup) - THE BRIDESMAID MOCKTAIL (strawberry, lemon shrub, and simple syrup) The server was very nice but she seemed overwhelmed. The menus and napkins that were stored outside were flying all over the place, she had to keep picking them up from the floor/pathway. Server was not around when we wanted the check so we had to wait. The kids meal was so large and my nephew loved it. The Broiler Oysters and Lobster Roll were very good! All the other food was fine except for the Filet Mignon - it was ordered medium well and it came out more well done and was dry. Glad I added the Crab Imperial Topping because that was tasty. The New England Clam Chowder is different to those I'm use to having so it was a surprise and we didn't really like it. The broth is thin and not as flavorful as I'm use to but they did say it was in a "light broth" on the menu. I'm also not use to the clams being still in their shell, all the ones I've tried have been shucked and often times chopped. The drinks were ok but nothing wowed us, probably wouldn't recommend them. All in all it was decent and glad we tried it even if we didn't enjoy everything because it might be personal taste. I think mostly the seafood items are done well and that makes sense due to part of the name of the place being "Fish Market".

We ordered appetizers, but they never arrived. Our drinks took roughly 30 minutes to come out. I ordered a martini flight and unfortunately it was horrible. After waiting another 30-45 minutes after getting our drinks, the entrées finally arrived. I ordered nine oysters prepared three different ways, which were supposed to come with two sides. The sides never arrived. The oysters were just okay... I was so hungry by that point that I ate them anyway. My husband tried one and said it was so bad that he couldn't even eat the whole thing. We decided to order dessert, but after waiting another 30 minutes and never receiving it, we finally got up and went to the host stand to pay and leave. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and professional throughout the evening, and I truly appreciated their attitude. However, the service was extremely slow, and it appeared the restaurant was significantly understaffed. While the employees did their best, the overall dining experience was poor due to the long waits, bad food, missing items, and overall poor experience.
