I am not exaggerating, our rabbi actually called Annadel the Garden of Eden during our ceremony. I may be a bit biased, but I have never seen such a beautiful wedding venue. From the spectacular ruins, to the huge oaks, to the lush green lawn surrounded by green mountains, to the gorgeous roses Katie plants throughout the venue, I can't imagine another place so magical (especially in June when everything's in bloom). Flowers, butterflies, birds chirping - it has it all! A lot of venues in wine country have a lovely view of a road with cars passing by - not Annadel, it felt like we were completely in a world of our own. On top of that, their wine is excellent. When a friend suggested this place as an "intimate wine tasting experience", I wasn't entirely sure what she meant. After spending a couple of hours there, there was no longer a question. There are a wide range of winery experiences out there, but many of them feel like a production line: shuffle the people in, drink a bunch of predetermined wines, get the hard sell to buy some and get out. This was the polar opposite of that! We had read about the owners, Dan and Katie, on their website and were really intrigued by their story. Our experience began on the day of our visit when I received a personal email from Katie with very specific directions to guide our arrival to the estate. When we arrived, we were greeted by Dan, standing outside with their dogs and guiding us where to park. We walked into the tasting room and Dan's first question to us caught us off guard: "What do you guys like to drink?". No one usually asks that! We shared what we liked, but also let him know that we wanted to learn more and try new things. Katie soon joined us and as we sat across the table from each other trying new wines and talking about wine, their journey, and a variety of other topics, it felt like we were with old friends. At one point, Dan told us to grab our glasses, he grabbed a bottle, and they proceeded to give us a walking tour around the property. I'm sure they provide a similar experience to all who visit, but in the moment, it felt like this was customized just for us. We were thrilled to order several bottles of wine to have shipped home so that we can relive the experience and share it with friends and family for many months to come! read more

While I haven't met Katie and Dan I hear they are lovely. I don't want my bad reviews to impact their ability to do business now. One of the most beautiful, relaxing, comfortable environments I have been to for a wine tasting. The wines were great and hosts Abigail and Dan were such amazing hosts- even our young kids said exploring Annadel was their favorite part of our trip. We had our wedding here, and we knew from the first moment we saw the venue that this is where we would want to get married. It is truly beautiful and the natural landscape and gorgeous ruins allowed us to save on our decorating budget. The cost of the venue itself is reasonable considering the area and quality. However, be aware that they: (1) do not provide any furniture; (2) require the purchase of their wine (which is delicious, but on the pricier side even after a 15% discount); (3) require all guests to arrive and leave via shuttles. All of these factors were stated before signing the contract, but if you are not aware of the added cost of all of this it can eat up a large portion of your budget. Unfortunately, we had some significant issues with a lack of response in the months leading up to the wedding. We later became aware that this was due to the owner giving birth shortly before our wedding which is understandable, but we believe that somebody else should have been designated to respond in her place. This became an issue because our other vendors were relying on answers that were not being provided by Annadel until the last minute. There was a potential issue with the shuttles in that they were going to require us to get an additional shuttle because they did not want shuttles to do any loops to pick up additional guests (there was no language in our contract stating this limitation). This would have cost us to go over budget, but due to COVID we had enough guests who were unable to attend our wedding that this ended up not being an issue. There was also a small issue day-of, as we had been assured there would be no wine tastings held on the day of our wedding, and yet several strangers walked by and gawked at my wife in her bra as she got her hair and makeup done the morning of the ceremony. They were indeed there for a wine tasting. Our wedding planner had to intervene and remind the owners of their prior assurance, but fortunately they responded swiftly. Lastly, our $3,000 refundable security deposit was supposed to be returned to us within 21 days of the wedding day, but we ended up receiving it a month late and only after reaching out to them multiple times. Despite these issues, the wedding day was everything we hoped it would be. All day of logistics ended up going smoothly and it was as beautiful as we had hoped! read more

Beautiful property. With that said site manager was a jerk. As our Uber approached to pick us up from wedding party (10pm) blond gal dressed in all black appreared out of the dark and approached us in an angey tone saying if I called an Uber she would not let him on property and that "the contract" stated such. No good evening or hello my name is .. Just pow..We would need to take a later shuttle. I explained, as wedding guests, we never saw a contract and had in fact had been asked by a staff member earlier when I was inquiring about departure times if I wanted them to call us an Uber. She said that was not a member of her staff and that she was the owner of the property. I wanted no problems so I canceled the Uber (1 minute away) and I showed her. At that point a thank you sir would have been appreciated but instead she said " now get on a shuttle' The hubris !! As I walked awy she took her phone and took pictures of my wife and I. I turned around and said " why are u taking pictures of us? She said because I was threatening"!!!???? Cousins of ours were married here. It was a cute place and definitely had it's positives and negatives. Positives: + The venue has a large lawn area the tented dinner. Really a scene out of a bridal magazine. + The barn for dancing after dinner was so cute. + There's a nice stone area for the ceremony Negatives: - Poor ventilation in the barn. It got quite stuffy after we hit the dance floor. - Gravel. As soon as we got off the shuttle, it was all gravel. Yes, we were warned by the bride and groom to wear flats.. but who wants to wear flats with a cocktail dress? - Toilets are fancy port-a-potties. Service is lukewarm. We had our rehearsal dinner at Annadel Estate Winery and it was nothing short of magical. The winery's owner and operator Dean greeted us in the open air, ivy-enveloped ruins of the property's old mill and led us all through a heartfelt and delicious wine tasting. It was many of our guests first wine-country experience, and it set the bar high for the rest of the weekend. When the sun started to set we all moved into the rustic barn. The barn is interesting enough inside to need very little decor, however we fancied it up a bit with fresh flower arrangements and a beautiful and delicious dinner catered by nearby Olive & Vine. Annadel is also a flower farm, so as you can imagine the photos everyone took there are amazing. You can feel good about booking an event with them because they aren't a large, super commercial and overdone winery. It really is just the Bordigioni family, opening the grounds of their stunning home and bottles of their delicious wine for you and your guests to enjoy. read more

This review is long overdue! We had our wedding at Annadel Estate last fall and had a fantastic experience working with the new owners Katie and Dan. They were super helpful and responsive in assisting us with navigating some of the difficult components of planning our wedding (date change due to Covid, assisting with a handicapped family member etc.) They also kindly allowed for us to taste the new wines because ownership had changed during the year we had to postpone our wedding. This review has nothing to do with Annadel's wines or tour, since we never had a chance to do either. It's all about responsiveness to their customers, or lack thereof. We planned to attend an event for Lasseter wine club members in the afternoon and wanted to visit another winery in the general vicinity and Annadel seemed a good choice. First I wrote them requesting a visit noon Saturday from their website. No response. Then I called the day before hoping to get something at the last minute. Again, no response. I allow the possibility they might be closed Labor Day weekend or there might have been a big wedding, but nothing on their website indicated either possibility. It has now been four days since my first attempt to reach them but nothing so far. I guess this is one winery we can skip. read more

A strong alert to watch out for these folks. The owner is extremely confrontational. At a recent wedding, he was throwing things and trying to instigate a fight in front of wedding party on stage. It's likely they'll try to cover for this with an excuse, but anyone who was there would be clear how wildly inappropriate and misguided this way. A strong 'zero' for this location. It was my Honor and Pleasure to coordinate a wedding at the Gorgeous Annadel Estate Winery. The Grounds are Stunning and the flowers were Beautiful. The only 'bad' thing about AEW, is trying to decide just Where to have What! The Barn: do you want to have the Wedding, Cocktail Hour, the Dinner or Dancing there. The Same Dilemma for the Ruins, ahh, this is a Magical Area! The Grassy area where the Beautiful Tree is, would certainly be a Perfect place to be married. The wife and I had a private wine tasting at Annadel and met both the husband and wife owners. I've lived in Sonoma County most of my life and I rarely go wine tasting, to my wife's dismay, because of the cattle-call commercial feel that it has become. Right before our appointment with Annadel we went to a nearby "fancy" winery and did a 9 tasting flight which included smugness, mediocre wine, and utter shock when we declined to buy anything. I'm sure the tourists eat that stuff up. Annadel however fantastic. The owners live on the property and use the barn for wine tastings. The property is beautiful and the tasting was done by the wife, Abigail, who couldn't have been more fun and engaging. The husband, Dean, showed us around the property and couldn't have been friendlier. Our tasting probably lasted an hour and we picked up a few bottles and will definitely buy more. The wine itself is very good. The experience and hospitality make me want to actively support this winery and the kind of relaxed small family farmer experience they live and work. We had our wedding here in April 2012 and it was absolutely magnificent. Annadel Estate Winery is a gorgeous place: the ceremony was held within the open air ruins of the old winery building, draped with moss and ivy, which creates a remarkable sense of intimacy and connection between the couple and the guests. The barn was a perfect place for the kids to hang out (others have used it as a rustic-style dance party spot), and the lawn was a lovely spot for the reception tent. The light over the vineyards was extraordinary for photos. It was a magical setting. To hold your wedding here, you are required to serve Annadel Estate's wine, which is pricey but excellent. Other things to know are that no cars are allowed on site so all guests need to be shuttled in; this adds a bit of logistical complexity. Know that the owners are sticklers for details, which pays off in the end. As if all of this beauty and grace weren't enough, they rescued us and made it all happen in a very short time horizon. Four weeks before our wedding date, our wedding venue cancelled on us. As soon as we set foot on Annadel Estate, we felt so much warmth and generosity from Dean and Abigail, the owners. They agreed to let us have our wedding there, with only 4 weeks to get the grounds ready from winter to wedding-hosting time. We are grateful for their hard work and willingness to help us in a pinch, and to help us create what for us was a spectacular event. read more

We had an alumni club outing where we went to a number of different vineyards in wine country. Dean at Annadel was gracious enough to accommodate our van-full of attendees. He did a great job of explaining the different varieties he produces and walked us through the different flavor characteristics of the different bottles. His rustic barn is a fantastic setting for tasting and the rest of the grounds are beautiful - there's a flower farm on the property, as well. The wines were delicious, the grounds were stunning and Dean was a generous host. We're looking forward to coming back. Just had my wedding here, and it was stunning. We chose Annadel because of the beautiful ruins and oak trees, and at this time of year there are tons of blooming flowers on the property that make for easy decorating. Our guests were blown away. There are tons of pretty wineries in California, but Annadel has a magical quality to it, and the management company was so easy to work with. Annadel is also one of the only wineries in Sonoma or Napa that lets you serve hard liquor and not just beer and wine, which for us was a must. They also built entirely new bathrooms in time for our event, which was a plus! I cant wait to get our photos and videos back, but I'm sure they wont do it justice. read more

Run, don't walk! My husband and I were recently married at Annadel (Oct. 2013) and we waited a few months to allow the sting of disappointment to wear off before writing this, but still believe it's important to warn other couples. Annadel is beautiful, but it's owned and managed by Dean and the success of your wedding will be entirely dependent upon his whims. Ours was, and we deeply regret choosing Annadel as our wedding venue. Here's why -- on the morning of our ceremony, without bothering to inform us, Dean turned away our top-notch specialty cocktail mixologists at the door - refusing to let both them and the alcohol on the premises. We ended up only being able to serve Dean's wine (Note: he requires that couples purchase 5 cases of his wine irrespective of the size of the wedding) and some beer that our planners and caterers managed to secure for us. No hard alcohol! We were so disappointed -- we'd gone through the trouble of hiring one of the top mixologists in So Cal and actually flew him and his team up from LA to bartend. We'd chosen specialty cocktails, printed menus, and told all of our guests about them. Our planners threw together some mocktails at the last minute to try to save the cocktail hour. We later learned that our mixologist had spent the week trying to secure a permit that Dean said the Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) required them to have. The ABC refused to issue the permit. Dean refused to help. In their words, he was uncooperative, told them not to bother him, to "figure it out," and that it "wasn't [his] problem," when they reached out to ask for more information about the requirements and to advise Dean of the issue with the ABC. To make matters worse, I was later advised by the ABC that they/we didn't need a permit after all -- so Dean denied us part of what we bargained for in our contract for NO justifiable reason! Note, our contract with Dean says ZERO about requiring ABC permitting. After paying nearly 10K for the venue+wine, I consider it a breach of his obligations under our wedding contract to refuse to assist our vendors with obtaining the proper permitting if it was required and even worse -- to be completely wrong about the permitting requirements according to the ABC. We are considering suing him. Consider whether you want to have leave your wedding in the hands of a owner-managed venue (no checks and balances in the decision making process) who can literally turn you and any of your vendors away at the door on the day of. We don't think this would have happened at another venue. For informational purposes for those considering the venue, here are a few other unrelated things to keep in mind: --You need to pay a $3k deposit + the full venue fee up front when you book. If they go out of business, bankrupt or their event license gets pulled it will be extremely hard (or more likely impossible) to get that back without suing. --Dean requires that your florist buys all their flowers from his farm. You may not want your choices restricted to their hydrangeas and garden roses (which are lovely and fit my vision, but might not be your style). --No private cars allowed on premises. The groom and his groomsmen had to be dropped off. Grandparents had to take the shuttle. If anyone misses the shuttle and tries to drive to the venue, they get turned away at the door. How sad to have a new mom with an infant that flew out from the East Coast made to beg at the door to be let in. That actually happened! --The gravel is a lot worse than you might expect. Not a deal-breaker, but guests complained their shoes were ruined. My shoes and dress were. Dance floor was very messy. Best of luck in your search! Started all good. A cute place, large lawn area, & a cute barn with potential, but the owners were odd, pretentious, & a bit off. The wife started off friendly, nice, but got more and more unprofessional, snotty, and insulting as time passed. We were there for a wine tasting & they were not open & honest about their pricing, and their sales tactic made me feel I was in a car dealership not a winnery. We were married at Annadel Estate Winery in October 2012. If we could do it all over again, we would in a New York second because Annadel is BEYOND. Our wedding was very intimate (22 total) and we held both the ceremony and the reception inside the stone walls of the winery ruins. Our cocktail hour was under heritage oaks outside the ruin walls. Amazing. It is a working winery and flower farm and you are contractually obligated to purchase their wine and flowers for the event. Not a problem!! The wine is delicious (we have since purchased a case and hold onto it greedily) and the flowers were BEAUTIFUL. Huge roses, hydrangeas, oh my! The owners--Dean and Abbie--could NOT have been nicer and more helpful ...and Dean even let us use his old yellow Chevy for some pictures. It's one of my favorites pictures from our wedding and was totally unexpected. There is also an expansive lawn on the property where many people have their receptions and a beautiful old barn that Im obsessed with. Annadel will always have a place in our hearts. read more
