Just on Wednesdays they serve prime rib. We were blown away by how good it was. We have been going to the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco for many years; this was BETTER! Glenda was our server and was wonderful. Michael Macrae is the Chef and we told him our feelings, also to the personable owner Kenneth - both appreciative of our sentiments. Their sides of large French fried - like potatoes with a divine spicy red sauce and mushroom puree, along with a first course of fresh vegetables to dip in an amazing white cream sauce, were spectacular. Our only concern is that the prime rib is on a trial basis for now. We can only encourage others to support it and hope that this will become a permanent option and obviate the need for us to go into SF for our prime rib hit (we live in Santa Rosa)! 3.5 stars overall- We were there on Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had the Chef's menu which was a five courses dinner. Dinner started out strong with roasted beet and kampachi crudo. Both were delicous. Then the third course was Confit pork belly, also quite good if you like pork belly. Some people may find it too fatty or unhealthy. The fourth course was salmon and it was ok. Nothing to rave about in my opinion. Then the last course was the chicken which fell short. The chicken was medicore but the sauce was very salty. The tasting menu did not come with dessert which was very strange. I would much rather stick with one entree and have dessert instead. We didn't end up ordering dessert but it was nice they offered us a complimentary small bowl of ice cream for our friend's birthday. I saw on the bill the small bowl of ice cream would have been $12 if we had to pay for it (ouch). Service was attentive but the overall experience was not worth the high price. read more

Last night we had dinner at Songbird and the reason that I chose this place for my birthday is the bird decor - birds are a sign of my mom who passed away 7 years ago and a few days before she passed, she talked about how the most beautiful bird that she had ever seen had visited her garden. It was Sunday so we were looking forward to the fried chicken. Unfortunately, since we were at the tail end of the night (7:45pm) they had sold out and also sold out of another item and we were no sure what to do. Alex , our server, started recommending alterative options, but since I have certain restrictions and both my husband and I do not eat any other meat other than chicken, we felt like we really didn't have much of a choice but to order a salad and leave to go elsewhere. However, Alex worked her charm and continued to go back and forth (checking with the kitchen on what else they could do for us). It was amazing to see her commitment and passion to really make us feel at ease. I commented to my husband that she is amazing at finding solutions when things sometimes go unplanned. Fast forward, they made is a special Marys half chicken, and we had the beet salad which was amazing!!! The potatoes were a lovely accompaniment, and they treated us to an amazing foccia that was crispy on the outside and side on the inside. At the end, we thanked Alice and the owner and I told them my story of why I chose this place and learned about the evolution of Songbird. I thanked them for making us feel at home, and as I walked out, I could feel the love of my mom once again. She loved to cook and feed everyone in her home. This is a beautiful little restaurant in the Jack London shops. It gives an English parlor vibe. It was beautifully decorated for the holiday. Reservations are definitely recommended. I chose the Chef's tasting menu, though it definitely seemed I was getting full-size portions and "tasting" portions. Not complaining, though it was a Lot of food. Started off with the hamachi crudo plate. Thin slices of hamachi, small roasted turnips, in a citrus sauce. Next was a beautiful salad, then the orange glazed pork belly with pureed squash and grilled slices of acorn squash. Next was salmon over forbidden rice, so tender with crispy skin. They brought home made Olive Bread in rosemary and olive oil to tide us over, it's like crack! We ordered an extra one to go for the road. We ordered the Thai green curry clams which were delicious, the Kampachi crudo, the orange braised pork belly, the Hand Rolled ricotta and lemon gnudi, and the Filet Mignon Pomme purée... all the flavors were bold and delicious! Entering the establishment, there was a great ambience. Very romantic, dimly lit and intimate setting. The hostess was helping a customer when we arrived quickly after was extremely welcoming and showed us to our table. Our server was helpful and knew the menu very well, he explained to us the menu and helped us make selections based on our preferences. We asked for a cocktail menu but our waiter informed us that they currently do not have cocktails, they recently opened up in November so they were working on getting the license. But they have a great selection of local wine and a few beers on tap. Starting with the appetizers, we had the beef tartar and the pork belly. Both were delicious. If I had to choose one I would go with the beef tartar, although my fiancé would go with the pork belly, both excellent choices. For our entrées, my lady ordered the pork chop, which came with a delicious sweet sauce and grits. After I took a bite, I could taste bacon maple along with the grits, which made it a great balance. I ordered the filet mignon also an excellent choice cook that cooked at a medium rare, which came out at the exact temperature. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and smooth in the sauce was excellent. The filet mignon had a great seared crust. At the end of our meal I was surprised with a birthday candle and a scoop of ice cream which was delicious! All in all the great experience and would recommend to all friends and family. Another fantastic dinner...I'm always a bit skeptical of the offerings during restaurant week but Songbird did not cut any corners. We were again greeted warmly by the hostess and our server Tyler recognized us from our visit last month, a very nice touch and great start to the evening. We got one of each of the two options on the 3-course menu and it would be impossible to pick a favorite. The green salad and beets were fresh with gorgeous produce. The duck was prepared to the perfect temperature and the gnudi was pleasantly tender with a nice bite. The desserts of ice cream and the chocolate gateau were nothing short of divine, and the optional wine pairing aligned nicely with all the dishes. Our party of four dined tonight at Songbird Parlour, and unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the experience. Two of us ordered the salmon, which cost $48 per entrée. The portions were extremely small, consisting of just a small piece of salmon with salty sauce, and both of us left the restaurant still hungry. The ciabatta bread was excessively oily, and the chicken one member of our party ordered was undercooked and still red inside, which was especially concerning. We were also surprised by the very limited menu selection. There were only four entrées available: one pork dish, two chicken dishes, and one salmon dish. For guests who do not eat pork, the choices were even more restricted. Given the high prices, we expected better value, more substantial portions, and a wider variety of menu options. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the cost. One of our friends brought a lovely 2018 Three Sticks Pinot (corkage $40), though I didn't partake because my Dry January had me counting down like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Ten days to go, not that I'm keeping track. The menu itself reads like a love letter to local farms. Highlights from our table included smoked and pickled beets with Grazin' Girl gorgonzola and crispy onion, fried potatoes and leeks with Seven Moon Farms tomato aioli, and Pacific halibut crudo with Flatbed Farm makrut lime granita. Then came the duck leg confit paired with a beluga lentil cassoulet that honestly deserves a round of applause. If you're not salivating by now, stick to frozen pizza and Netflix you're not ready for this level of dining. All in all, the experience was worth every step across that charming footbridge. The chef did a great job with the first two - the amuse bouche was amazing and the salad was divine. Also loved the potato wedges and the sauce around it. Finally made it here (for a *very significant milestone birthday). We could not be more thrilled with our entire experience from greeting to "see you and your impeccable cuisine not soon enough"... Greeted and sat by the owner Lauren, and tended to by the most exceptional server we have had in memory. Nobody was imbibing (thanks BottleRock- Lol)... but I have been fond of Lauren's personal brand kombucha for awhile now and had a glass (sharing with my family of course to promote booze free tasty alternatives). Our starters were the iron skillet focaccia (had to save some for what I knew would be my saucy gnudi entree); the roasted/pickled beet salad exceeded the enticing description; and the Pacific halibut crudo, avocado, kumquat, blood orange granita was the gentlemen's favorite; the salmon was the most incredible piece of fish we've had in front of us on record; the duck confit drew in my husband who only "...planned on having a salad"- yeah right, Honey -LOL! The only regret was not getting here sooner (sorry cliche)- but this perfectly punctuated the visit with my son to celebrate me that will be a lasting core memory. The ambiance was most refreshing (who doesn't love such high ceilings?)! cookies: excellent; Gâteau chocolat coffee ganache cocoa streusel caramel: mind blown (I usually opt for fruity creations) this masterpiece : home run for all of us. Finally had a chance to dine at Songbird Parlour and although it was just any Wednesday night, within 10 minutes it felt like a special occasion. The decor and service had us at hello, and then the food!! Chef Eric Moulton's attention to detail and layering of flavors made every bite worthwhile. In particular, the filet mignon was perfectly cooked inside and out with a crispyish crust? Didn't even know that was possible. On top of that my daughter floated between the cozy couch nook in the corner and our table, have never felt so at home at a "fancy" restaurant. That said is all reasonably priced and worth every dollar. We had our micro wedding of 40 people at Songbird and we can't stay enough positive things about it. From the time we saw the venue, we KNEW it would be the perfect place for our wedding. So gorgeous inside, amazing decor, and an outdoor space which allows for a true wedding ceremony. its truly one of a kind. From start to finish, the entire team was exceptional during the planning process. Brandy, in particular, went above and beyond -- she was incredibly helpful, communicative, and detail-oriented, which made everything feel seamless and as if they had all of the details handled. And the food... next level. We received so many compliments from our guests -- many even said it was the best wedding food they've ever had (we agree!). Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service the night of the wedding was also outstanding. We went here for our xmas dinner when my son and gf were visiting and we spent $400 for 4, with 3 glasses of wine and 1 bottle . 3 apps and 4 entrees, 2 deserts and a large french presse . I called to ask some questions but it was before they opened so no one answered, but I ended up getting a call back when they did open which is rare, and appreciated. We went on a Wednesday evening and we saw on their website the prime rib for dinner. We planned to explore that option as well as their standard menu. Upon arrival, we asked the waitstaff about it and the 1st thing she said was that it was offered at another restaurant. I opened up their website and it clearly stated that they have it as their neighborhood dinner on April 29th. When she returned, we showed her their website and she stated - well, they had a rush on it and it was all out (including a statement that someone had ordered two portions for later). Our reservation was for 6:00 PM and the restaurant was only half full and most people were just having their mains...and we did not see anyone had the prime rib... In any event, she displayed such a careless attitude throughout the entire meal... Literally just dropped off our order with... "this is the xx and this is the yy...". Never stopped by during our meal until we asked for our check. The chicken and pork dishes were generous portions and cooked decently enough... not memorable. We just wanted to leave as quickly as we could. Super disappointed. read more

The Best Meal of our Trip to Sonoma. We dined here during a recent trip to Kenwood. It was dark when we arrived at the complex where the restaurant is located and took us a few minutes of wandering to actually find the entrance. The restaurant is lovely with small tea candles on each table. We started with the sunray salad and belfiore burrata. Both were excellent. Our entrees were the filet mignon and the braised lamb shank. Both were perfect. I cannot remember the dessert that I had, but I know it involved a decadent chocolate. We had wine by the glass and coffee to end. Our server was initially very attentive, but then as the evening went on and the restaurant got busier, he kind of disappeared. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. Cost per person with tax and tip was about $120, but worth it. read more

Highlights include: crudo, green curry was top notch, salmon was very unique and a welcome change from standard salmon preparation, and short rib had good flavor. Some low lights: pork belly had beautiful presentation but was barely look warm and soft and fatty. I've tried a lot of pork belly as it's become a common item on menus over last 10 years but it's tough to do well. The duck was tough and over cooked but the flavor was nice. It is one of the lovely standouts that Sonoma is getting known for. The food is fresh, presented well and delicious! Not to mention, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The ambiance is beautiful, yet accessible and comfortable. BUT!!! You must also try the Sundays only fried chicken dinner with the homemade focaccia bread.
