Authentic Tamil Nadu Delights at Annalakshmi in Mississauga I recently had the pleasure of dining at Annalakshmi, a Tamil Nadu food restaurant in Mississauga. Specializing in Chettinadu cuisine, Annalakshmi truly impressed me with their flavorsome dishes and delightful ambiance. One dish that stood out during my visit was the Chettinadu Masala Dosa. The dosa had the perfect balance of crispiness and softness, with a delicious filling of spiced potatoes. The authentic flavors of Chettinadu cuisine were prominent, and it was a treat to savor every bite of this flavorful dish. The dosa was served with an assortment of chutneys and sambar, which complemented the dish exceptionally well. To accompany my meal, I tried the Madras coffee, and I must say it was truly awesome. The rich aroma and bold flavor of the coffee transported me to the bustling streets of Tamil Nadu. The coffee was prepared with care and expertise, and it was the perfect way to round off the dining experience. Not only did I enjoy the food, but my kids also had a great time at Annalakshmi. The presence of French fries on their menu was a pleasant surprise, and the generous portion size kept my little ones satisfied. The fact that Annalakshmi catered to the preferences of children without compromising on the authenticity and quality of the food was truly commendable. The sambar idly and sambar vada were other highlights of my meal. The flavors of the sambar were spot-on, and they elevated the idly and vada to another level. The idlies were soft and fluffy, soaking up the tangy and flavorful sambar, while the vadas had a crispy exterior and a moist, well-seasoned interior. The combination of these dishes left a lasting impression on my taste buds and had me craving for more even after leaving the restaurant. The ambiance at Annalakshmi was warm and inviting, with a touch of traditional decor that added to the overall dining experience. The restaurant provided a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their meal. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Annalakshmi, I'm deducting one star due to a minor issue with the service. The waitstaff seemed a bit overwhelmed, leading to slightly slower service at times. However, the staff members were friendly and accommodating, and they ensured that all our needs were met. In conclusion, Annalakshmi in Mississauga offers a delectable journey through the flavors of Tamil Nadu, particularly Chettinadu cuisine. From the mouthwatering Chettinadu Masala Dosa to the delightful Madras coffee, the restaurant captures the essence of the region's culinary heritage. The generous portion sizes and kid-friendly options make it a perfect choice for families. I highly recommend Annalakshmi to anyone seeking an authentic Tamil Nadu dining experience in Mississauga. It reminded me of home and childhood

I finally had the chance to…read moretry it on a Thursday evening, which was the restaurant's unlimited dosa promotion for $19.99. Upon entering the restaurant, I was given a menu, and guided to a small table near the cashier. I was unsure of what to order so, the waitress guided me on what would be best. For my first dosa, I settled on the butter masala dosa, which came with three dips; coconut, tomato sauce, and chutney. I was pleasantly surprised to taste the dips, as they weren't spicy at all, and blended nicely with the dosa. However, the lentil dish was a tad too spicy for me therefore, I wasn't too keen on that particular dish. The next dosa I had was the plain dosa, then the last was the masala dosa. I found the dosas to be much smaller than what was shown in the photos, which made them disappear quickly into my mouth. They were also quite thin and difficult to rip, as many of the items on the inside tended to fall out as I tried to rip the dosa for dipping. Nevertheless, the taste of the dosas and dips were flavourful, with refills of all dips (minus the lentil dish) and dosas included in the price of $19.99. I had never had a dosa experience such as this one, and would definitely return, as I found it worthwhile and filling. Service was great during the entire experience, and the restaurant itself boasted a great environment. Would definitely return to try other items on the menu!

We had cheese masala dosa, it was folded and filled with generous amounts of filling. Had shahi paneer dosa, requested to make it rolled and put the fillings separately on the side. It was nicely prepared, thin, crispy and deliciously flavoured. Really good service. The store front and entrance may not give a rich impression. However, the parking is convenient in the plazas parking lot.

Another item that we noticed was missing at this location was the robot waiter, which we were hoping to see. Nevertheless, when we walked-in, we were pleasantly surprised to see how large the restaurant was, with ample room to walk around the food tables, and choose our items with ease. Also, it wasn't too busy in the restaurant itself, which allowed us to choose a table of our liking near the back. Once we had placed our order, we waited about 12-15 minutes for the food to arrive. We had settled on one thali, which contained butter chicken, along with a few other lentil curries. This thali was marvellous, as the food items tasted delicious, and were freshly-made. Also, there was an ample amount, which filled me up to the brim! We also ordered butter chicken on the side, with an order of plain naan. Once again, we were impressed with how delicious these items tasted; we ended up getting refills of the naan, as it was too hard to pass up! Service was also great, as we were brought our refills quickly upon ordering. All servers were pleasant, and always greeted us with a smile. Definitely a place we would return to in the future!

Anyhow, I only tried some vegetarian items and it was not bad. They are currently offering 20% off takeout as part of their grand opening. Prices are reasonable and place is pretty spacious with seating and limited parking spots. Lots of sweet and savoury options. Would like to go back to try their mango lassi and dosa. Their samosa was good, it's different from the other ones I've tried as they don't have the big chili flakes inside which I like but it's a bit oily. I like the sauces that come with it. Tea was good too. There's options for sweets that's not too sweet which is great.
