Dr. Veerappan is a great doctor. I first made an appointment with him over 20 yrs ago and found out I had multiple ulcers. Painful to say the least and his prescribed protocol helped me heal quickly. Fast forward to 2021 and once again he came to the rescue. After hearing all my symptoms, he had me do a few ultrasounds and he called me after hours to tell me my test results. A large ovarian mass that needed attention right away. A medical procedure later, I am so very thankful for his expertise. My 97 year old mother had a serious emergency this week requiring the care of a gastroenterologist. I called Dr. Veerappan's office and the earliest available appointment was 3 weeks out. I asked to be put on waitlist for next available opening. The scheduling staff sent a urgent request to Dr. Veerappan. He responded with a 15 minute slot 3 days from my first call. Unfortunately, the appointment lasted more than 15 minutes as there were complications. It was more like 45 minutes. But the problem was resolved and my mother was sent home to recuperate. Dr. Veerappan is a physician that you meet once in a lifetime. I went to see him because of stomach pain that I had been having for four months. I went to see two other GI doctors one if which had no bed side manner and kept forgetting that I was forty six years old. I was terrified this stomach issue was something horrible as a tumor or cancer, and I needed reassurance. He walked in was extremely professional washed his hands before extending a hand shake to me. He sat down and listened quietly. Never interrupted me once. He then began typing our conversation into the computer, and I could tell when he stopped he thought what could be going on. He then asked several questions and told me to hop on the table to where he could examine me. He gave me the best examination I have ever had from any Doctor. He was extremely thorough didn't miss a beat. He then began to Tell me that my stomach problem was not at all serious, and it was from anxiety and stress which by the way three, other doctors told me the same thing but I just couldn't trust them for some reason. Dr. Veerappan reassured me everything will be just fine and to stop worrying. He ordered an Endoscopy because I do suffer form GERD and that it has been twelve years since my last one, but he left it up to me either I could wait or have it done either way he was not concerned about anything bad going on. This Doctor is number one in my book. I totally trust his diagnosis and amazing professionalism. Yelp and I = Love Hate relationship! I was told to arrive by the unenthusiastic receptionist at 2:30 for my 3pm appt which I did, on the minute! However, the doctor didn't enter the room until 3:40. The assistant just left the room w/o telling me the wait time or if she is coming back. That is 40 mins late plus the useless 30 mins pre check in! My time is just as precious as theirs plus I had my young children at this appointment and my daughter had class at 4:30. The consultation was a waste of time. He asked me questions, he single-finger typed my symptoms for 80% of the consult time, then he looked at my history and he guessed what was the possible problem. He literally said, he thinks it might be what I am telling him. He didn't explain anything other than he highly encourages surgery. This is an occasional problem that only happens to me once every 2-4 years (ate pizza), yet he highly encouraged surgery. I asked a specific pain question and he says it's related to the problem I told him. So why did I have to go pay someone to type my symptoms and then have no specific answers? Doctor is barely mediocre at best. Dr. Google is much better. I saw Dr. Srivatsa in this same office 2-3 years ago and also a big waste of time & money. I have had assorted issues over the years - and had always been sent to a different gastro specialist. My displeasure with that office is well documented here on Yelp. So I asked my primary if there were any other offices I could be sent to, and he came up with Dr. Veerappan. WOW!!! Every bit of the experience so far has been night and day. Prime example of why our country is going down. How decency, and humanity are becoming a thing of the past. I thought America was about Pursuit of Happiness. Forget pursuit of happiness, pursuit of end of misery has me at the end of my wits and no one would help. On my reviews you can see how many Gastroenterologists I have reached out to. Here's the story with Dr. Verrappan: Called his office and I was told first thing he is busy till August. I mentioned that I am in great discomfort (explained the issue) and that I am ok to know when he is available and will wait. I also offered that if he could guide me on the phone - that would be fine too; because I am in great discomfort. The lady said she will check with Dr. Veerappan and let me know. A few hours later I get a Voicemail (I missed their call) that Dr. Veerappan refuses to see me as I do not have Health Insurance. I am just shocked beyond belief. I heard the country Dr. Veerappan is from (India) - there some Doctors treat patients for free. Why? Compassion. And I am not seeking free treatment. I am paying from my pocket because I do not have Health Insurance. Maybe such values are extinct in our progressive country. The price of being the most advanced economy. Let an ailing human being suffer - my "business" of being a doctor should not suffer. Such humanity, such compassion. Welcome to the world of profit hungry doctors of America of 2017. Reminds me of how Dr. Strange is in the movie. His reputation mattered more (in the early part in the movie) than the patient's treatment. Good job, Dr. Veerappan. Dr. Veerappan is a true professional. I've been seeing another gastroenterologist in the area since 2010 when I was diagnosed with colon cancer. The frequent colonoscopies after colon surgery were horrible with this other doctor at the Fremont Surgery Center. I had the privilege of going to the WHHS outpatient surgery center with Dr. Veerappan last week and the experience was amazing. The facility and procedure are very well run, the staff are exceptional and to my surprise an anesthesiologist was in attendance. There was zero discomfort while there and the doctor was very thorough, explaining the results and follow-up. Dr. Veerappan's office staff are also very efficient and professional. I don't mind waiting a few minutes for a truly outstanding doctor. He's very busy and the reasons are obvious. I highly recommend Dr. Veerappan if you're unsatisfied with your current gastroenterologist. read more
