Near Annapolis. Office I use is on the third floor. These folks are great. Have not had any issues. Everyone is kind and efficient. Visits are detailed and fairly quick. They are always on schedule. Depending on what you need, some meds are not completely covered by insurance and can run on the expensive side. FYI, they take medicare and I no longer have a copay. Highly recommend. read more

Dr. Eaton is a first-rate dermatologist whom I have seen regularly over the past 18 months. He is an excellent listener, patient, caring, and highly knowledgeable. I never feel rushed during my visits, and he thoroughly answers all of my questions. I recommend him without reservation. read more

And it gets worse . . . while their central billing department in another state (which you have to figure out exists on your own. . . hint: the number is 888-213-1711) finally got back to me about the initial problem and resolved it, it has started over again. I receive an email from Instamed, who processes their bill/payments, that they are charging me another $100. No explanation. No itemized charges listed. Nothing but an email--the bare minimum. Instamed, strangely enough, puts their hands up in the air and says they have NOTHING to do with billing disputes when you reach out to them and "start a ticket." How convenient. These are some of the sorriest and most frustrating business practices I have encountered. I am calling the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General this time. Imagine how much money this company makes by automatically incorrectly charging people's credit cards and people being too busy or too confused to understand what is going on, or just too damn tired to fight it. read more

Yikes... Long time patient. Went last month after Covid for my check up. I got the bill today! They charged me $359 for a visit, plus almost $800 to freeze several bumps on my temples I called them and they said they have been several years since I had been a patient? Never go back at a surly lady at the front desk. read more

Apparently, the bill I paid was applied to a different bill that I had, conveniently for them, not seen since they actually billed my insurance correctly and therefore thought my insurance had paid for. Funny how no matter what happens, I always end up owing Annapolis Dermatology Center more money. read more

long time Patient and I went in for my regular Skin check, not realizing I needed a referral with my new insurance and they never asked for one or said I needed one, instead they billed me as a self paying patient, when I followed up with a referral from my primary doctor the Dermatology center basically said too bad, would you like a payment plan? No I would like you to take my insurance that I pay for and you accept, I will be finding a new dermatologist. read more

I saw Michelle DeMattia, a Physician's Assistant, for a full body scan today. I was really impressed with her knowledge and how comfortable she made me during the exam. She answered all my questions, was thorough and gave me recommendations for taking care of my skin. I also had three liquid nitrogen treatments and am scheduled for several more. I have always been frustrated by the ridiculous wait times at this facility but this morning I walked out for last time. I waited a full 50 minutes after my appointment time which is beyond unacceptable. Shows no respect for patients or their time which is also valuable, I lost more than an hour out of my day including travel and did not get in. This poor service is a sign of underlying problems. Have been a patient of Dr. Ambro's for over 5 years now. In my opinion Dr. Ambro is one of the best Doctor's that I know of.

This was by far the worst experience I've had in a doctors office. My daughter had a simple wart to be removed and they insisted on five visits to remove it. Five visits at $35 copay per visit made it a very expensive wart removal. Every appointment we arrived on time and had to wait at least 20 minutes to be seen. On one instance we arrived at 8:50 for a 9:00am appointment and were told the appointment was at 9:50 and we would have to wait an hour and then the usual 20 minutes. No effort was made during our experiences to expedite waiting times or the number of appointments . I really feel they are about making money not providing high quality medical care. This practice does not understand customer service and I would not recommend it. read more

I've been to this practice and have always come away with mixed feelings. Sometimes I feel like the Doctor needs a good dose of humble pie. Like the time she was discussing my diagnosis and how to code it with her assistant and was quick to tell me to go ahead and check out. Heaven forbid I stay in the room while they discuss my health and my diagnosis. Still get the slight feeling of being a # going through their assembly line and not a person making an effort to care for their skin. Waits are still way too long and they need to stop overbooking. I had a 9:40 follow-up appt (scheduled after I was told to call if areas treated looked different than how she described they would typically progress through healing process) and was seen an hour later for less than a 5 minute look over. Then was gouged with the $50 co-pay fee. Nothing like throwing salt in the wound. The other thing I need to mention on a slightly humorous note is the overly aggressive, almost borderline harassment, of the appointment confirmation process. I received a phone message which said call back if you want to cancel or reschedule. I did not because I was not cancelling. Then I rec'd a text a day later, called the office and spoke to a person and confirmed. Then I rec'd another text requesting confirmation. Yes, I am coming 10 minutes early, to wait 50 minutes to be seen. They really need to clean up their confirmation policy. I also find it comical when I called on Jan 24th to schedule follow-up, the recorded message tells you about their New Year's Day office closing dates. C'mon guys, you have a support staff of what, 20, and no one can update this. read more

Very sad that I have been a long time patients and seems to be every time I come for a check up I am waiting at least an 30 minutes to an hour after my appointment time. They are squeezing in way too many patients and get behind. They need to evaluate their scheduling process. They are good if you want to wait. read more

My full body scan for skin cancer is going to be a regular event for me. My history of tanning and family members with skin cancer put me at high risk. This office is clean. The staff was very friendly. My doctor was efficient, curtious, and caring. I'll be back to keep my health in check. I just wish the bathrooms didn't require a key. It's a bit silly. read more

Well you certainly earned the whole star. You mixed up the appointment time for my daughter and then refused to honor the appointment when we showed up. The reception asked the doctor if we could be squeezed in and I did let them know it was not something long and involved, but I guess that clocking out at the end of the day on Friday is more important than treating a child. I have experienced that kind of treatment at this office before when the nurse treating my Vitaligo asked the nurse practitioner to step in for just a moment to see the progress of my treatment. Just to be clear, she was not asking for some long assessment, just a look-see. She was refused and was instructed to tell me to make an appointment. No thanks. Although I really liked the nurse who was treating my Vitaligo, I would avoid this office for anything more serious than the treatment of a few wrinkles. read more

Factory medicine. Patient waits 55 minutes to see physician. Physician cannot even introduce herself, ask anything about your history (for example, lifetime sun exposure since this is a skin cancer screening appointment) let alone wash her hands before she starts touching you all over in military fashion. Annoyed if you ask any questions but quick to recommend an unnecessary biopsy in the same breath of telling the patient how busy she is. What?! Worst dermatologist visit ever and will not go back. read more

I had a cyst on my back shoulder that has bothered me for years, but it started to hurt occasionally, so I set out to find a dermatologist to treat it. I found ADC, and called to schedule a consultation. I was given an appt with Dr. Petrie. ADC calls you a day or 2 before each appt to remind you of it--great for feeble minds! Dr. Petrie has great bedside manner, as does his assistant (Lacey, I believe) who was very sweet. Both were calm and careful, and really put me at ease. Even while Dr. Petrie excised my cyst, and removed a mole (cosmetic reason), he chatted with me and let me know what was happening (since I was completely numb). The front desk staff is always very friendly and prompt, and they didn't mind looking all through their schedule to find an appt that worked best for me. The entire facility is clean, updated, and organized. I've found a partner to take care of my skin for life! read more

I have been coming to Annapolis Dermatology on and off, and really liked Dr. Eaton a few years back. Well a few months ago I went in to find a solution to my acne. My acne isn't terrible but Dr. Eaton was really pushing Acutane. My mom and I didn't really want me to try Acutane because we have heard there could be some serious side effects. After much persuading, the doctor gave me a prescription for minocycline. He never told us that people with certain allergies and asthma probably shouldn't take it (and never even asked if I had allergies/asthma, which I do). So about two weeks in I started feeling itchy all over and whenever I would scratch or even touch my skin, I would develop hives. It was the creepiest thing and the only thing I could think of was the new medicine I was taking. So I did some googling, and saw this disease called dermatographia. The people who had it said it was miserable to live with and not much to do about it. I panicked and called Dr. Eaton and he acted like I was over reacting and said if you want your acne to come back then just stop taking the medicine. Not "we'll figure something else out" or any reasoning as to why this was happening. He just seemed defensive and condescending. Thankfully, my wonderful allergy doctor diagnosed me with dermatographia and gave me steroids and other antihistamines for 4 or so months before the symptoms went away. I personally, feel 5 months of dealing with dermatographia could have been avoided had the doctor at Annapolis Dermatology cared a little more about me instead of insisting I take another harmful medicine. read more

We took our elderly friend here for an infected mosquito bite. He is a diabetic and we didn't want to risk an open sore for him. He is Japanese so English can sometimes be a challenge for him. I was surprised and happy that we were able to get him a same day appointment as a new patient. We had to obtain a referral from his primary care doctor. His PC was out of town so his PC's office was extra busy and it took some time. Plus it was a Friday afternoon. The 2 receptionists were very unhelpful and would not let us see the dr until that referral form was in their hands. At one point, they wanted our friend to sign a form that he would pay for the visit before he was able to see the dr. Part of the problem was the fax machine was on another floor and these 2 receptionists did not go and check the fax for the referral. Then when the referral came, they wanted our friend's PC office to do the referral on line. The PC's office did not know how to do this and at this point, I was ready to go to a local surgicenter. I had even tried to get on line with Cigna in the office but the receptionists said they did not have Wifi available for patients. Finally the receptionists accepted the paper referral. This took close to 45 minutes and left Dr. Eaton waiting. When we finally saw him and his assistant they were excellent. However, a month or two later, our friend received a bill for a "New Patient Fee" @ $180.00! This was never mentioned to us and I had never heard of such a thing so I didn't know to ask about it. Our friend could not afford this and told this to his insurance company. His insurance company waived the charge and hopefully are disputing it with Annapolis Dermatology Center. Besides being unpleasant and unhelpful, the receptionists did not provide full disclosure about the new patient fee. If they had, we never would have gone there. As the face of that practice, they were quite a turnoff. read more
