We stood outside while Sam discussed some interesting history and culture of the town and each attraction. The tour guide discussed and recommended other establishments around the area (she pointed them out along the route) that were not on the tour, including places to eat, drink, and buy souvenirs. I really appreciated that aspect of the tour. See the pictures for the food stops and menu. The food was really great, with the exception of the tacos. The cream of crab soup at the Federal House was FANTASTIC. This was a pretty incredible way to experience and learn about Annapolis, and just a great afternoon outing. I highly recommend it.

Booking was super easy and once that was done, I received regular emails from Vino 301 and texts until the day of the tour. We were picked up this past Saturday (4/20) at the appointed location and time. We boarded a very well appointed van with about 4 rows of seats that accommodated us all. I felt very safe on the rides to and from the wineries. Our host and driver were super friendly and treated us like royalty. Prior to arriving at each venue, we were provided some background and things we should know in advance. She more or less herded us from place to place, which was actually quite comforting. I felt very well taken care of AND seen as I was the only one on the tour not drinking, but I was provided water and other beverages over the course of the day. Oh, and the lunch we received was AMAZING. So much food! I had the roast beef BLT, which came with a bag of chips, pasta salad, and a dessert. Definitely recommend!

My company booked it so I had no choice. Initial impression is a cool historic place. Yes, you check in at the other location and walk a few blocks, but that's part of the historic charm. You walk in and it's all cool antique furniture. The musky smell adds to the historic charm. I noticed the closed off front desk area and thought "that's odd". I went to my room (1402) and noticed first off that the door was warped. I had to use my body to bump it open once the key was accepted. Once inside it was small but nice. The ac unit was a little loud but expected in such an old place. The closet was huge, but something told me to keep the door closed (it gave a spooky feeling). One of the activities that my company booked was a haunted tour that we did the second evening there. First red flag is that it starts in front of the Maryland inn. On the tour they explain why the front desk is t staffed...the hotel is haunted and they can't get anyone to work there at night. I rolled my eyes, yeah right. Then they told a story about a bride who died there in the 1700s who haunts the hotel. She stayed in room 1405 (the same room my boss was staying in). Turns out that my boss heard the famous sounds of her pacing in the room, her high heels clicking on the wooden floors (the floors are now carpeted). On the 3rd night I was texting my boss around 1am because I started hearing noises. He heard them too. The noises got louder and louder until it was the sound of someone pounding on my door. That got harder and harder u til I could see the bottom of the door come in about 3 inches every time it got hit.when it stopped I looked outside the door and saw a giant man (about 6'6", 300+ lbs). I asked if he heard that noise, he just looked at me and the started coming at me. I yelled "dude, wrong room" and slammed the door. A mi Ute later my boss was at my door and said he heard this guy fall down the stairs. My boss and I the. Grabbed out luggage (uber was taking us to the airport at 4am anyway) and walked to the other building to report the incident. In the end, I got a call from the hotel manager saying that the guy (a drunk guest apparently) wanted to pay for my last night in the room. I have more questions than answers, but I can say that I'll never be returning. Look up the ghost stories, apparently they are well documented and are consistent with what I experienced (I'm not including all details here).

The accommodations were in safe, nice areas. All close enough to walk to see the sites. I thought that the accommodations were perfect for my trip. The rooms were nice. They all had a restaurant or buffet for breakfast and a dining room/or bar for evening accommodations should you choose . Maybe not 5 star but at minimum a 3++ . I-chose a single room because I value my alone time at end of the day to decompress. The meals provided were at very nice restaurants and there no monetary limitations, but you paid for your own alcohol. The events /tours were as described and it was so nice not to have to wait in lines to get tickets as you would had you booked privately . The travel coach is small, not like a bus because they limit the # of persons on the tour. Kind of like an Oversized van with seats. Be sure to pack small as the luggage goes onto the rear and is packed like Tetris cubes. There was also ample free time to explore on your own. It was nice to feel the safety of travel with a group of like minded women and I have booked future trips. BE sure to read the cancellation policy and buy travel insurance to cover you for life's unexpected events. Traveling solo doesn't mean traveling alone with this group. I felt very lucky to have such a great tour leader, who was meticulous about the details to make it a very effortless, special and inviting trip. The small group is great for me as I am not so overwhelmed with meeting so many new people, as can happen on larger mixed group tours. My group gelled so well and when it was time to return home we all felt a little melancholy! I think about them often.

I have shared these trips with women who have been well traveled, friendly and caring from across the country and Canada. Starting out as strangers, by the end of the first night, we've bonded through our love of travel and more importantly laughter. The tour guides have been mostly spectacular. As the goups are quite small, I have enjoyed experiences in places that I probably would not have visited such as on Route 66 and in Northern Idaho. The company has a very high number of women who have taken more than 10 trips with them.

Finally, on Thursday, Charlie claimed that the company cancelled due to wind, yet there were many other booze cruises that took place on that same day. For those people who specifically paid for the booze cruise, we were not offered a refund. There were many rumors that the cruise was never booked, and Charlie was just coming up with excuses to avoid confrontation. It seemed that there kept being a need for more and more unnecessary purchases, and that was pushed onto the students by STS. We did not know what we were getting into nor how much money we would end up spending for nothing. In general, there was a huge lack of communication that left students lost and confused. A group of our friends were mistakenly driven to Atlantis rather than Breezes, and the two are substantially far from each other. The taxi driver took the students off the main road and stopped at an ATM along the way. You can imagine how scary this would be for a student visiting a country that they have never been to before. It was almost an intimidating atmosphere, threatening us that if we lost our little plastic wristbands that it would be a $200 charge to replace, that if we caused the slightest damage to the room it would be a $150 charge per roommate. There is more I could say, but it is too much to type. I hope you can see that going through STS was a TERRIBLE decision.

They do a great job making a historic property feel modern with ample outlets and usb ports, a very comfortable bed, and a mini fridge we used to store leftovers and beer. The TVs also have more channels than we ever have had in a hotel but rarely used given all the fun stuff in Annapolis. They also make the hotel accessible with elevators and wheelchair accessible rooms. The staff was also wonderful and accommodated us well by storing our belongings after checkout while we explored the State House on the 5th. We love how much is in a very short walking distance to here. Parking may be expensive but for car free people this is quite easy with commuter busses from DC and Baltimore, local Flixbus from DC and New York, local busses around the clock from Baltimore Light Rail's Cromwell station, as well as ample Ubers and Lyfts that may be cheaper than parking and no need to go past walking distance.

There was a conference going on when we arrived so, making our way past their busy merchandise and vendor tables that were set up outside of the conference rooms was challenging as we were carrying luggage and navigating ourselves to the set of elevators located quite a distance away from the hotel lobby on the conference center side entrance of the building. Unfortunately, only one of two elevators was in operation. But, the 5th floor has a nice bright blue carpet design and the floor has a pleasant scent as you exit the elevator. The room was nice and we were pleased with the firmness of the beds and fluffiness of the pillows. I'd like to suggest that the bed closer to the wall be moved another foot away from the wall in order to provide a guest more space to get out of the bed on that side, especially since there is more than enough extra space in the armchair area close to the window. Overall, we liked the stay and the location is close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. So, although there were a few "oh no's" during this stay, we still recommend this Annapolis location.

You can either check out the visitor center and free museum (a few blocks away) and walk around on your own (after going through security - this is an active naval base so ID is required to enter), or opt for a public guided tour, if you wish learn more about the history, traditions, and campus life of this institution. The 90-minute historical walking tour is the most popular, but I booked a GEM riding tour for my family (in a 5-passenger electric vehicle), since we were traveling with elders and a young child, so wouldn't be able to cover much ground across the sprawling Yard otherwise. The 75-minute tour takes you all around the Yard in comfort and highlights the "gems" of the naval academy. The campus is beautiful and pristinely maintained, and we were expertly entertained and informed by our wonderful tour guide Anne, whose whole family is Navy, and shared additional insights into the life of a midshipman and beyond. Parking: the limited parking near the visitors center is only available to those who hold a military ID. Otherwise you can either park at a garage or try metered street parking which is limited to 2 hours.
