Was recommended here cuz Jos A. Banks don't do alterations for outside clothes anymore. I get there just before they closed, and they took my measurements for three suits. I had forgot my shoes in the car to have the fit. But the head guy, George I believe his name was, said that's alright I we don't need them. He was spot on with measurements without shoes. Anna is a miracle worker who saved my wedding! I'd give her 100 stars if I could! After 6 months in production, my wedding dress designer sent the wrong dress (sheer and my breasts and rear were completely exposed) and there was no time for the designer to make corrections. The dress was delicate lace over a sheer illusion fabric, so it was no easy task to alter. A friend recommended Anna and I was skeptical at first because her quote was half the price of other ateliers. She was amazing to work with and the dress was perfect!! Anna and George helped me with an urgent need for alterations for my mother of the bride dress. I searched high and low for the perfect gown for my daughter's wedding for months and months. I finally settled on a dress that I was not enamored with. Just 10 days before the wedding (which was out of town), I found the perfect gown, but of course, I panicked with so little time left for it to be altered. I had many friends that highly recommended Anna's Alteration, so I called. Pete answered the phone and said of course we can help you, come in and we will take a look. George took the initial measurements, for a couple of inches off the hem of the long gown and a tuck at the top of each shoulder. With a very tight schedule, they promised they would return it to me just four days later on Monday night. I was departing for the wedding Wednesday night! I came in Monday night, and I thought it was almost perfect and I would have taken it. Anna came out and looked at it and thought she could make it even more perfect if I would give her one more day for another alteration at the top shoulders to make the off-the-shoulder style a bit more perfectly custom fit. I got the call the next day around noon that it was ready, came in for a final fitting and the gown looked like it had been made for me. I was pretty disappointed by the alterations here. I had a designer wedding dress altered here. The gown came with several customized features, including an inner zipper, decorative buttons, and a concealed bust clip. After taking my dress into Anna's, I noticed several disturbing changes. First off, the bow detailing at the front was askew. The tailor had mistakenly altered the bow in a way where it looked completely off, and I had to get it fixed at Nordstrom's. When I checked the internal zipper system, only one remained meaning that it was far easier to strain the seams of the dress. When inspecting the front of the gown, there was an extremely visible loose thread underneath the front material. At a high cost of approximately $200 for the work, the actual craftsmanship was really disappointing. Luckily, I was able to have all of this fixed at Nordstrom's where I purchased the gown, but the repair costs doubled my tailor's fee in the end, making the initial trip to Anna's completely unneccessary and, ultimately, wasteful. Save your money and get your professional tailoring done elsewhere. I was incredibly unhappy with the alterations to the point where I had to get the final tailoring done elsewhere. read more

I just got a bridesmaid dress tailored here. I asked for the chest area to be taken in, the inner lining to be taken out, and the length to be taken up. I picked up my dress and realized the next day the inner lining was not taken out so I had to come back the next day. I just picked it up after a total of 3 weeks and the chest area is a disgrace. I cannot believe you sent a client away with a product looking like this. It was sewn far away from the seam and there are threads sticking out. Plus, the length was not taken up AT all. I trip over myself when walking. A disgrace and unexpectable. read more

Anna saved my wedding dress! I had bought my dress 9 months in advance and ended up losing 25 lbs, so clearly it didn't fit anymore. The alterations lady at the bridal shop pretty much told me it couldn't be taken in. I had several people refer me to Anna. She instantly made me feel comfortable and said it wouldn't be a problem. 2 fittings and it was beyond perfect. At the final fitting I cried I was so happy with her work. I bought a wedding dress at a boutique in Austin. It was the only one of its kind and was quite big so I needed to have it taken in. I looked up several wedding dress tailors and saw that Anna's had the best reviews as far as wedding dresses go. I asked a lot of her when I took my dress in. It needed to be hemmed since I'm 5'0 as well as taken in since it was a size 12 and I'm a size 4-6. Not only that but the built-in corset was bothersome and I wanted it removed completely. Lastly, there were feathers on the front, which I loved, but had too much flying out on the dress and I wanted those to be cut down to a good length. Anna allowed me to visit however many times I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. She did every single detail I asked for and did not once make me feel guilty for asking of her all that I did. She did such a great job and the best part was the price was incredible. She saved us money, saved my dress and I can't be more grateful she was the one that took care of my dress. I was extremely pleased with the job she did. read more

I took a pair of dress pants to be hemmed, and paid $20 extra for rush processing. I pick it up the same day, and all looks fine. Maybe 2 weeks later, the hem starts coming undone. I wear the pants 2-3 times a week and solely in an office setting, so it's not like the pants are getting a lot of wear. I had to duct tape the hem from the inside of the pants to make it through the week. I took the pants to a different tailor in Plano that I used to go to prior to moving to Dallas, and they took one look at the hem and said whoever performed the hem did a total crap job. They pointed out to me how the thread that Anna's used was cheap and wouldn't last. They also showed that the stitching used by Anna was also very poor quality and a factor in the hem coming apart. For the money I paid, I expected a better job, and was very let down by their quality of service. If they don't know how to hem a pair of pants, I wouldn't trust them with anyone else. I would NOT recommend Anna's to anyone. read more

I live close to Anna's Alterations and have used them several times and my experience has NOT been good. They are expensive for what you get and the pricing is inconsistent. I stopped going there until recently when for convenience sake I tried them again. I was quoted one price by Anna when I dropped some pants off, but when I went to pick them up she wasn't there and her husband tried to charge me almost twice as much as Anna had said. Went here to have two sport coats altered. I was missing one button so I figured I'd replace both buttons on the front. We chose buttons that looked similar to the ones on the sleeves. Next thing you know I got charged $72 for replacement of all buttons. I did not expect to pay $72 for a couple new buttons. I should've asked ahead of time the price but I would've appreciated at least a heads up of the price I was getting into. I will not be back. read more

Thieves!!! They stole the gold buttons off of a $500 jacket and sewed purple buttons on in their place with white thread - on a navy blue jacket!!!! Stay away from this place. Too bad their dumb asses forgot to check the pockets for the spare buttons! You are better off trying to do your own alterations via a YouTube video. They screwed up the sleeve length of the jacket as well and it can't be corrected. Because they are THAT BAD at their jobs!! read more

Anna helped me alter my wedding dress and it was PERFECT for my big day! I have had a few other items altered there and was not disappointed, but she truly came through on my wedding dress. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and I foolishly ordered my dress about 3 sizes too small, thinking I would lose the weight in time to fit into it. About 3 weeks before the wedding, I realized that it was nowhere close to zipping up. I took it in to Anna's to see if she could do anything with it. I brought in some fabric that was a pretty close match. She took my measurements and said it would be ready in a week. When I went back in, it was perfect! It cost about $60 but it was so worth it to not have to order another dress at over $300. She also put some support cups in the dress that were not there previously. Fantastic work! This seems like a great family-owned business. I have moved north of the SMU campus since then, but I will be back to them for any tailoring I need. read more

I bought my wedding dress from a sample sale and the dress needed a lot of work done. The dress was altered perfectly and it fit me exactly like I imagined it would. I also had all of my bridesmaids get their dresses altered with Anna and I was so happy with the quick turnaround and beautiful work. I asked for it taken in around the chest area, the length at the bottom, and an inner layer taken out. I picked it up and realized the next day that they did not take out the inner layer. So, I take it back. 2 weeks later it's ready and the chest area looks AWFUL. It was sewn WAY too far away from the seam and there are threads sticking out all over the place. Plus, when I tried it on, I realized they did not shorten the length. Now, I have no time before the wedding because of the mistakes and my dress is a mess. And I paid $70 for this crap?!?!?! I have been using Anna's Alterations for many years, despite the surliness of the owners. I have finally had enough, though, and am taking my business elsewhere. That includes recommending them to others, which I have also done repeatedly in the past. No more, however. They quoted me $18 to hem a pair of slacks but when I went in to pick them up, the price had gone up to $25 plus tax. The stocky gentleman (the owner) who inflated the price blamed the change in price on a 'miscommunication' with the other employee (his wife, no less), saying she had misspoken. When I protested, he said he wanted to 'split the difference' and would only charge me $20 plus tax. I paid for the slacks and left, never, ever to return. It certainly wasn't the money, it was the principle. He now has not only lost my business, but also any referrals I might have made, not to mention this negative review I have just posted. I bought my wedding dress at a boutique nearby in Dallas and needed some minor alterations to bring in the waist, add a little lining to the dress and add a bustle. At the initial appointment with my mother, we discussed with Anna that we would like an American Bustle to showcase my beautiful lace train. We were both there to verify this is what we'd asked for. I had one prior fitting before today the lining was completed and the alterations were finished with the exception of the hem and bustle. When I went to pick up the dress, it was a French Bustle which is NOT what we had agreed upon. Anna insisted that we wanted the French bustle which is completely different and hides the lace of my train. After insisting that I did not want this type of Bustle and wanted the American Bustle, Anna did not offer to fix the dress and kept referring to a handwritten scratch she'd made at some point that said "French" which appears to be a major mistake on her part. My wedding is a week away and I will not be able to showcase my beautiful lace train because of the bustle that was made. They are nice people, but I'm very disappointed that I don't get the dream dress I asked for. In the future, I recommend that if you use this alteration's place be sure to get everything written on an invoice or receive a copy of her notes so there is no confusion as to what you'll be picking up before your wedding day. read more

I've been using this tailor for a few years. Recently, they had some less quality work done and they had one mess-up before. Their price has gone up significantly and it takes two weeks to get any small seam work done. Also, I noticed recently sometimes they increased my price on the spot when I returned to pick up the clothes. Kind of disappointing! Time to find a new tailor. read more

The man who fitted me was very perfunctory, would not have taken up the shoulders had I not insisted. I kept trying to get him to address the darts, but he wouldn't, said taking in the sides would take care of it. I picked it up, with no offer of trying it on. As expected, it was too big. I took it in another inch on both sides & adjusted the darts AND restitched the shoulders as they were gaps in the stitching. This was after paying $70.00. I called to complain and was blown off. So sorry--Yes, Anna's was my go-to tailor and I have spent thousands there. But this weekend they returned my husband's brand new white dinner jacket with a huge black grease spot on the lapel that was clearly from their sewing machine. I am a seamstress and could tell immediately by looking at it that it was one of those small pieces of lint that can come from the bobbin of the machine with grease on it--then the grease spread. My husband talked to both of the owners and instead of apologizing and fessing up, never mind giving us some discount or coupon for next time, they looked my husband in the eye and said that spot was on it when we brought it! Why we would bring a brand new dinner jacket to them with a huge black spot on the lapel on it and no one say anything while they were marking it up and my husband had it on is crazy. Of course it was not there. Now I have to go look for a new tailor and I am not happy about it, but I cannot go to a merchant who is not willing to admit to a mistake like this.
