While I knew a little about what I wanted (buttercream and vanilla cake) they asked about layers and colors and a range of things that made the perfect cake. And they assured me it would be ready on time for pickup and it was! Know that they need at least a couple of weeks as all of their cakes are customized so don't wander in the day of your event and expect to get a cake. And what was even more special was the look on my mom's face when she saw the cake and we all gathered around her to sing, "Happy Birthday". The moment was priceless. It's $14 for a piece of bread with a little cheese and jam but it's so yummy, I'll splurge every once in a while and go with it. Plus, I can't eat tree nuts, so it is one of the few options for me. However, the second time I got it, it was most definitely not worth it. The "whipped" ricotta was just a sad, thin wet layer and there was practically no jam. I get it. It's expensive out here. We're living in the shadows of the avocado toast economy where espresso drinks cost minimum $7 and you effectively can't buy anything for less than $4. But just because you feel like you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* Paying $14 for a piece of bread.... Come on. It's insulting. It feels exploitative. Will i be going back? Yes, because of the proximity and sometimes a girl needs to go for a cute little walk to get a coffee--just to feel something. Would I if there was a competing coffee shop nearby?
