CP is tucked away in a strip mall that's across from trader joes. They have a variety of foods- cheese, jam, bread, quiche, coffee, sweets. We only got dessert during our trip but I'm definitely planning on coming back for the baguette and sandwiches. The store was clean and service quick. I never seemed to be near here when they were open, so today, I decided to stop in. I didn't really know what I wanted, so I looked around a bitl I ended up getting a chocolate croissant (but rectangular, so maybe it's called something else?) and I saved it for dessert after dinner. I heated it up slightly in the microwave and it was really decadently good. I noticed that the staff speaks French, which I found kind of refreshing, as I don't hear French too often. (It was the language I took in school a hundred years ago, so I understand a little of it.) It seemed a little pricey, but not outrageously so. Definitely worth a stop. read more

We had the worst experience yesterday, I was meeting up with a friend , the coffee served was cold , the quiche burnt and when I politely requested a new one the younger French boy obliged and was apologetic said they were short staffed but the senior French man started yelling and actually asked us to leave without reimbursing us & was literally shouting at top of his lungs and there were other witnesses too , Will never go there again because service and food is better at the other French bakery Canelle .The man was definitely racist and I will be writing a review to Better Business Bureau , wish I had a video of his erratic behavior ! read more

I met a friend in this bakery today and the owner was screaming at a customer but she only complained after her quiche was burned and her coffee cold. He was screaming for her to leave the bakery and never come back and then continued to scream at her to get out as he wiped off tables. Other long time customers tried to calm in down but to no avail. I will never go back there. How unprofessional, rude, inappropriate and disturbing. read more

The cake I ordered was delicious, it was for my mother's 80th birthday. The fruit used was fresh and the cake was beautiful. My guests enjoyed desert, complimenting the flavor and presentation. The one issue I had is that their cake boxes are flimsy and not tall enough. They had to tape the cake box open so it wouldn't smoosh the cake. Also, the cake was very moist and by dinner time (I picked up at 11 and kept it refrigerated), the cake box had gotten very wet on the bottom, as well as the cardboard circle the cake sat on. We had difficulty getting it to the serving plate because the cardboard was so soggy. Beautiful and delicious French pastry - would recommend for your next special occasion. For the premium price, they need to improve their packaging. read more

Amazing French bakery, save yourself the thousands flying and rooming in Paris and come here. Is it more than some other bakeries? Yes, but it is worth it. Been driving by here every day after work, and after a recent trip to Paris I was wanting another almond croissant. Unfortunately the croissant is not the same as you get on Paris, which are maybe day old croissants with an almond paste filling and baked, but the other items look amazing here. Service is like a Parisian bakery, just stick to business and place your order. Ambiance is cute and French, lots of seating as well. Give them a try and see for yourself. read more

Popped in here a bit ago on a Saturday afternoon knowing they might be short on a few things but willing to take a chance and luckily they still had quite a bit in stock! I loaded up a box with a St. Honore, a raspberry tart, a napoleon, and a chocolate raspberry mousse cake and a bottle of French lemonade. Everything was delicious and it might be my favorite St. Honore desserts that I've had in the region! They also have a really incredible looking spread of freshly baked bread loafs and baguettes, fluffy brioche rolls speckled with pearl sugar, and laminated pastries like shiny croissants, striped in several different colors based on flavor (red for raspberry and green for pistachio, for example) making them as photo worthy as they are beautiful. The shop is not huge but it's cozy with a bit of seating. They also have a nice little cabinet full of imported French treats like teas, candy, crackers, caviar, condiments, etc. They also have a full coffee menu and some savories like sandwiches (ham and gruyere and croque monsieur stick out in my memory) and quiche as well as full sized cakes and tarts for special occasions. This spot is located in a strip mall and the intersection is not my favorite (Telegraph and Maple) but it is 100% worth braving traffic and weird turnarounds for the delicious eats you'll find within! read more

I haven't had a chance to explore their savory offerings to the same extent as their sweet pastries, but this has become a must-visit for me whenever I am in town. The pastries are delicious, and the croissants very good, although not the best in the area. But I was very troubled by a chat with the owners. When my partner told him what country he was from, the owner said it was the "shittiest country in the world." Thought he was joking, but he repeated it with no trace of humor. The people here were not what I would call friendly, not rude, but not friendly. Service was very matter of fact, but the pastries and bread were really good. From the palmier to the baguette, the various flavored croissants; they were all delicious. This place is out of the way for us, but it's worth a special trip now and again. As far as boulangeries and patisseries in the area go, Chez Pierre et Genevieve is one of the best. I believe most of the pastries here are comparable to Cannelle, the only other French patisserie in Metro Detroit that I know of. Chez Pierre has many of the same French treats as Cannelle but also boasts a selection of imported specialty grocery items. I've only been here once, but from what I can remember, Cannelle has a slightly wider assortment of patisserie items vs. Chez Pierre which had a larger selection of breads, savory items, and other baked goods. The croissants at Chez Pierre are excellently laminated and they have different flavors like raspberry, pistachio, and Nutella. They weren't too crispy on the outside, and soft/chewy on the inside. The raspberry croissant has a fresh raspberry filling in between the layers. It wasn't too sweet and was probably my favorite thing I ate! I also tried the Fruit medallion which I haven't seen before. It had a croissant base, pastry cream, and fresh fruit on top. Very yummy! They also had a varied selection of macaron flavors. I tried the pistachio and mango-passion fruit. I preferred the pistachio as the passion-fruit wasn't as sharp as I would've hoped. Both had that ideal nougat-like texture that we all love in a macaron. Fun fact, Pierre and Genevieve are the names of the French bulldogs of the co-owner Joumana (the lawyer from the billboards!). I was craving an almond croissant over the weekend and found Chez Pierre et Genevieve. When I looked at their online menu and saw the vast variety of French breads and treats and I immediately knew we had to go. Unfortunately it was already pretty late in the day, but we decided to take a chance that they might have something left in stock. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised as they basically had everything we had wanted to buy: Baguette ($3.98) - I found the bake to be perhaps a little too hard on this. The pointy sides of the baguette were especially dry and hard, which could easily lacerate gums if not careful. The interior was much better - while still a bit thicker of a crust, the inside was chewy and pleasant. The dough used in the baguette isn't as developed as some other places. It's more on the sweet side, light and perhaps a bit floury tasting, indicating lack of development. Epi Baguette ($4.25) - I really love how they put different toppings on each individual section of the epi. It's something unique that really stands out to me. In terms of flavor - I was expecting this to be similar to the baguette but I was pleasantly surprised when I had my first bite. The dough here has a more complex developed flavor, and it seems they brush the exterior with a sesame nuttiness, in addition to the other spices. The bake on this is perfect - a nice crust that isn't too hard and a chewy interior. I recommend this over the normal baguette. Almond Croissant ($4.98) - On first sight, the almond croissant looked massive - easily 50% larger than other places. But when I picked it up, I was surprised at just how light it felt. It didn't match the size at all. When I bit in, I found out why - wow! Just look at that fantastic rise and honeycomb structure! Super airy, light, flaky. We didn't get any, but I bet the regular croissants here are fantastic. The almond croissant, however, is not without flaws. Firstly, the top is dusted with powdered sugar and slivered almonds, but doesn't have any frangipane applied. On the interior, the frangipane is applied well and I like the fact that it's baked inside the croissant, rather than cut in half and applied later like a lot of other bakeries. I found that the frangipane was overprocessed and had an almost gummy texture that's more similar to marzipan. Overall, I think this is a good almond croissant but not great. We also got a Pistachio Croissant ($4.98), but I will refrain from reviewing it since I wasn't able to try it until the day after. One knock against Chez Pierre et Genevieve is that their pricing is not accurate. How much they charge at the register does not match the pricing on their website, nor the pricing they have posted on the signs throughout the store. I was a bit annoyed at that. On the plus side, we got a complimentary bag with 3 additional pastries during check out - probably because they were about to close up for the night and didn't want them to go to waste. There aren't a lot of French bakeries in Metro Detroit, but Chez Pierre et Genevieve sets itself apart by having a ton of variety. I'm sure everyone can find at least an item or two that they will like. Definitely give it a try. read more

I had been looking for a long time for a high quality French pastry shop in this area and absolutely found it in Chez Pierre et Genevieve. This business is in a fairly non descript building that is part of a strip mall on the southeast corner of Maple and Telegraph. Outside appearances in this case are very deceiving because what is inside is a nice pastry shop set is a clean bright casual environment with big display cases highlighting the days bake. The Pastries themselves are amazing meeting all the criteria of a well made Pastry to include light flaky crisp structures with very nice/appealing golden brown color and most importantly over the top good flavor. These pastries compare very well with some of the best pastries I have ever had. Really really good with excellent flavor. On this particular trip I was looking for some desserts to bring to a family get together and wanted to make sure I made a good impression with my family. I had purchased a mixed assortment of Chocolate Mousse/Cream Tarts, Pain au Chockolat, and Cinnamon with raisin and Chocolate Palmiers. All of them were very very tasty where the Chocolate domed covered tart with Mousse filling was my favorite. The pastries were definately the hit of the meal as I received numerous compliments from my very picky family members. Overall I couldn't be happier with this business and will definately be returning in the very near future. If you are looking for tasty well baked French pastries than look no further than Chez Pierre et Genevieve. This is definately a must try business if you are in the area as you will not be disappointed. Five stars plus! read more

I am so disappointed in myself for driving by this place so many times and never realizing it was here! After my TJ's run I ran in here early on a Sunday morning and was in for it. I walked in and was quickly greeted by a huge counter of delicious pastry's, sweats, bread and more. You can tell everything was crafted with such skill it was hard to decided on just a few things. One visit I tried a few different quiches the salmon was fantastic! Also I believe it was a mushroom version of croque monsieur which I need to get my hands on again. My husband has the sweet tooth so he tried a few things as well, favorite being the babarum filled with rum. Yum!!! They have illy cold brew on tap and I couldn't be happier. read more

I learned about Chez Pierre et Genevieve in a local group that was asking for recommendations on the best croissants. They said all the French expats come here, which definitely seems to be true as I heard many customers speaking French. The owners/staff were also clearly French from their accents. All good signs for what was to come. I wanted a baguette that tastes like the fresh baguettes I've had in France. This definitely fit the bill. In addition to the baguette, I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich - simple and served on a baguette as it is in France. It was very good, but not complex, and the fresh bread makes all the difference. I also ordered a pastry with chocolate mousse (?) and raspberries. The pastry was excellent, with the cocoa flavor and raspberries prominent. The other members of my party had the quiche Lorraine and onion quiche. The quiche was very good, but no better than others I've had. We also split an almond chocolate croissant, which had a very nice texture, but I think next time I'd like to try a regular croissant for comparison. While the restaurant is in a strip mall, the interior is quite chic and elegant. They also stock a few French pantry items as well, in addition to a variety of chocolates and jams. If you want a taste of France without the expense of a flight to apsaras, a visit to Chez Pierre et Genevieve is a must. read more

Stopped in here for a client meeting to pick up some items and it did not disappoint. Staff was warm and welcoming and super helpful. I got a variety selection of croissants. Raspberry, Nutella, Chocolate filled to just plain. I really don't think you could go wrong with anything I ate my own on my drive home and it was light and butter and delicious. My only regret is I didn't get anymore to heat up and eat at home! This is a must. read more

My French pastry radar must be off because I was completely unaware of this patisserie until I saw the reviews and pictures on Yelp! Located in a non-descript strip mall, the patisserie is anything but non-descript. I love the light green counter and wooden shelves laden with loaves of bread. Behind the Plexi-glass enclosures, there are several types of croissants and baguettes, éclairs, quiches, and sandwiches. Opposite, there is also an island topped with a massive macaron tree and be-ribboned jam jars. However, there was definitely fewer pastries available than I expected, based on the photos online. I'm not sure if that was due to the time (a bit past noon) or COVD (we were in a second pause). I was looking for a Saint-Honoré cake or a Paris Brest pastry ring but neither was available. Instead, I went with the mille-feuille, which as the name suggests, featured layers upon layers of pastry, sandwiched with pastry cream. I also picked up one of the last chaussons available; it was also flaky and included a tart apple mixture. The tasting of mini éclairs was sublime; I loved each of the flavors tasted: chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. I also had the typical French-styled sandwiches: ham, Swiss cheese and thinly-sliced tomatoes on a crusty individual baguette slathered with butter. Service was okay. read more

I want to give 5 stars because of the adorable French bulldog laying about, for that reason only, but c'mon... we come for the food first. They do NOT have drip coffee when asked for a Red Eye. I think I offended them when using the words "drip coffee" to explain what is a Red Eye. Or, is snobbery on par with French culture? Anyway, just opted for Americanos instead. I will do as the Europeans do. But it gets worse... I was INSULTED by the mini moos offered at the condiment station -- not real cream!? WTH? If you have read my past reviews, mini moos do not work for me. Thankfully, they accommodated with giving me real cream when I asked nicely. They use Illy Coffee, so it was excellent. The kwa-SANTS were delish. Decor and ambiance is lovely. Music was French station, but not too loud that I can't hear myself. WCs were clean, stocked, nice decor. This place was hopping; you need to know what you want or everyone in the store gets uber annoyed. I wonder if they get put off by their American patrons that mostly were dressed sloppily liked they rolled out of bed in their PJs and had bedhead? Thankfully we are in America, though. It was late on a Friday night when someone sent me the link to a new French bakery. Intrigued, I clicked, and immediately saw photos of crusty French bread, pain au chocolat, and éclairs. With no excuse not to visit, we made plans to go the following morning. From Ann Arbor it's about a 40 minute hike one way. And completely worth it. Located in a strip mall along Telegraph in Bloomfield Hills, the exterior may be unassuming, but the inside is an oasis from the outside world. After passing a small table with hand sanitizer and wipes in the vestibule, we entered into the main bakery. Both of us are Francophone, and we began speaking with one of the employees in French after it was obvious that she is a native. It was a smorgasbord for the senses: French language, the scent of fresh-baking baguette, and the sight of cases of baked goods and pastries combined to create a true feast. We wanted some chocolate eclairs, which had about 10 minutes left in the oven, so we stood and waited. Once our fresh eclairs were out of the oven, we said our "au revoirs" and headed back home. The baguette was still warm when we reached A2, and we enjoyed our feast with a side of coffee.
