Went here for a lunch with a ton of my coworkers. if I could rate the staff alone, I would easily give them 5 stars. There were a ton of us plus other lunch customers, and the restaurant was severely understaffed but they pulled through. It appears to be a family run business, and they were all really nice. The lady who took our orders in particular was amazing. She took our orders and also had to cook the food. She was such a sweet lady who didn't buckle under pressure and deserves all the good praise. For the price, you get a surprisingly large meal. For $13 I got the chicken parm that came in a giant plate with tons of angel hair, chicken and some toast. I had to get a box to finish the rest for dinner. Other people's subs/calzones were also quite generous in size (especially the calzone). So you want a big meal for a good price, this is the place. In terms of flavors though my chicken parm was on the blander side. There was more pasta than sauce so it really thinned out by the time you started mixing them. There was also just not a lot of seasoning in general both in the pasta and in the chicken. It's one of those things where adding a bit of parmesan (which is one of the condiments) provided) might do the trick but I guess you get what you pay for. Again, our waitress also had to multitask so that might have a lot to do with it. The venue itself is not all that striking in decor. It's very plain and does the job. We reserved an area because there were a lot of us and the place we got seated at had a bunch of toys and stuff just right behind us and we had to put some of our things next to them. It would have been nice if the space was cleared out. Overall, nothing incredibly special. But a wonderful, wholesome staff. read more

Not a huge fan of the food - the pasta (Alfredo & spaghetti) are pretty bland. The pizza slices are HUGE and greasy. I wasn't a fan of those either. However, the garlic knots are great! My go to order is the loaded fries (cheese, ranch, etc..) and the garlic knots. The service is great though and the servers are nice. read more

I've had Anna's Pizza take out quite a few times. I've ordered ahead, picked it up and it's still hot and delicious when we get home. So we thought we'd try eating in for a change. I opted for the Saturday dinner special which consisted of a salad and cannelloni, plus a drink. We eagerly awaited the appetizers our group ordered. The calamari were just ok. A bit chewy and a little greasy, nothing special, but definitely edible. Same for the mozzarella sticks. The classic 'Anna' salad was served. A choice of dressings were given at the start, and our server also informed us that bread comes with the special too. The salad was pretty basic and a slight disappointment in my personal opinion, but I still ate it all. I was hoping for more than one slice of salami and one slice of cheese. The cannelloni however, did not disappoint. It didn't look too appealing at first, but it was piping hot, the pasta tubes were stuffed to the brim, and they were generous on the cheese. My friends ordered the subs and really enjoyed them, whilst hubby ordered the Stromboli - serious food envy. It tasted great!!! Overall, nothing to sing and dance about, but nothing to keep me away for good either. I'll continue to get take out from here for sure, but the wait dining in was very long that evening and it wasn't at full capacity. read more

Have been many times and last night was our last for both the Armstead and Poquoson locations. The just dont care. Our calamara were cooked so hard and tasted fishy. Our pizza was just so so. Their salads are just cut up lettuce for subs. Hard to fork. Their salad dressing is so lame. Use a quality Olive Oil and vinegar or offer a good Balsamic. The dining room is sooooo boring. We have been going to Anna's for about two years being. This is our favorite pizza spot. We always order the fire pizza and it is one of their speciality pizzas but the best one on the menu if you like some kick. It is true to its name and has all the spice you will need. She also recommended 1554 black ale which was tasty, but not superb - next time, back to St. George porter. Not fancy - NASCAR photos, juke box and video games. I'm giving them a 4 due to my overall positive experiences. The food is always hot and tasty. I've had several different pizzas and they have always been good. Tonight I ordered pasta for my son with meatballs that he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken. This is where I was disappointed. The salad itself was good. All the vegetables, cheese, olives were fresh and tasty. The chicken on the other hand was different. It was so dried out. Some pieces looked like I could have snapped them in half from how dry they were. I'm hoping this is a one off of the overall good experiences ie had. I'm just hoping that they make sure chicken they send out in salads are fresh grilled and not super dry. read more

I actually ordered from the other Anna's but ended up at this one by mistake and was in a hurry. I ordered 2 personal size pepperoni and sausage pizzas and 2 small salads. The sausage was those rat size crumbles I hate, the crust was really thin and it tastes like frozen pizza from the grocery store. The salad was full of onions and soggy cause they charge 50 cents more if you want your dressing on the side. This was 28.00 dollars. First time and last time. read more

Dined at this establishment yesterday and ordered a Stromboli. I was very disappointed. I have eaten here before and never experienced a problem. The Stromboli was soupy and the crust was more like a bread than a crust (not like ANY Stromboli I have ever had!!) We expressed our concerns but they went on deaf ear! This place has gone down- hill over the last few years. Everytime I go I say I won't go again and then end up giving them another shot . My husband just got back with our take out... We ordered a chicken philly and a steak and cheese ... the chicken philly has absolutely NO seasoning or flavor ... You could clearly see there was nothing on the chicken , just bland as bland could be ... A little seasoning would go a long way ... We go here a lot for lunch. Meatball Parm sandwich is very good. All of the pizza and calzones are awesome. Calzones take 20 mins so you can call ahead if in a rush. Today we went for lunch and a sandwich and salad took 45 mins to get to the table. Kitchen was backed up even thought it was not packed. Poor management today? Maybe. The food was delicious, unfortunately for the amount, I felt that it was overpriced. After trying several different Italian restaurants in the area, I would have to say that the meatballs here are best I've had in Hampton Roads. The meatballs are light, tender and full of flavor. I tried them with the traditional marinara sauce and spaghetti. My husband got the sausage and peppers with penne pasta which were also good. Every time we've been here the waitresses are super friendly and very attentive. Also they give generous pours for wine, at least the last time we went here. Will be coming back! read more

Was invited to a reception here on a Saturday afternoon. Since I didn't pay, I can't comment on pricing or value. However I can say the food served was delicious. We had a variety of pizzas, cheese, pepperoni & sausage, tomato, pepperoni, etc and all were deliciously good served right out of the oven. They have these wonderful garlic knots that you can't stop eating. They're very small breaded knots loaded with garlic and olive oil, yet not soggy at all. They couldn't keep that pan full let me tell ya. I'm sure this place gets a lot of regulars from Langley AFB since it's near the Armistead gate. Staff was very friendly and fast on their feet. I stopped in for a bite to eat while my daughter was getting her hair done at the salon nearby. The staff was extremely friendly, and the service was prompt. I was unable to give them more than 3 stars because the food was mediocre at best. If you're desperate for a bite to eat then I'd give it a go, otherwise - keep driving if you want to find some real Italian fare. read more

So we went to dinner this evening. My hubby, me and the kiddo. We ordered wings and the calamari as an appetizer. The wings were ok and we did finish them all. The calamari??the calamari was CLEARLY frozen and from a package as each piece was completely uniform in size and appearance. It was also not cooked thoroughly, so we had to send that back. Hubby ordered a meatball sub. I ordered the chicken parm sub and my kiddo ordered the chicken fettucini alfredo. Hubby's meatball sub had meatballs from a bag that must have come from Costco. No flavor, no seasoning, and the 'marinara' they put on the sandwich tasted like it to came from a can or a jar. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich. What she brought me was an Italian....so that went back to the kitchen and I waited for the chicken parm sandwich. When it arrived, it looked great. However...let me describe it to you. You know how when you first start cooking and you don't know NOT to thaw out chicken (or cook it) in the microwave because it makes the texture very strange and it almost 'snaps' whenever you take a bite? Well that is what this chicken was...they microwaved a frozen and breaded chicken breast, then the placed it under a broiler with some marinara sauce and cheese on top...I took one bite and had to spit it out. It truly was incredibly inedible. Because we had already sent two things back, I did not want to send another thing, but we will not be returning to the establishment. To eat here....you may as well get the Stouffers Italian dishes from the freezer section and heat them up yourself. The one and only bright spot was my son's chicken fettucini alfredo. The sauce was quite good. unfortunately, the chicken in it was also frozen. Skip this place. hubby and I are going to be heading to another place for dinner now and the 47 dollars I just spent on inedible food was a complete waste. The prices are terribly inflated for pasta that comes from a box, sauces from a jar and meat that gets nuked before it is put on your plate. We will not ever return. read more

We ordered this for takeout for work on the 10th of February. I ordered the veal parmigiana sandwich I got everything on there, that was included in the description. When my coworkers were picking it up they called back, and asked if I wanted the red sauce on the sandwich. I inquired if this came with the sandwich to which they replied yes now mind you I got the large sandwich the menu price was $6.95. I gave them $9 to cover. When I got back I was informed I owed an extra dollar fifty because apparently the sauce was not covered. This is why you're getting a 1 additionally, the sandwich wasn't that good. I'm incredibly disappointed. I've lived in the area for almost 30 years. I've been to Anna's a handful of times as a child. Only one other time as an adult. I don't remember it being "great". We recently moved closer to them and decided to give them a shot. Got a large cheese pizza and a large with pep/mush/ex cheese, plus 8 "wings". I put that word in quotations because you HAVE to see the pictures (posted here also). The "wings" were no bigger than 2 quarters side by side. I can't believe I paid money for that. In addition, had quite a few feathers that I had to remove. Pizza was average. Decent crust. Paid over $40 for 2 pizzas (one of them plain with NO extra toppings) and the "wings". Nice family friendly atmosphere with a game room for the kids. They have skiball, air hockey, and a pool table along with a few other games. This helps bid time while waiting on the meals to be prepared. The pizza is delicious and as close to New York as you can get. I definitely recommend coming here. read more
