My lovely partner arranged a visit to Cannon Beach, Oregon for my birthday and selected Anna's Table as the venue for my birthday dinner.   My we were richly rewarded by choosing Anna's table, and that experience was taken to another level by sitting at chef's table. The food and wine were terrific, and the little nibbles served in between courses and only at chef's table were wonderful.   First off, chef John is a member of a long-time commercial fishing family based in Astoria and his network of local ranchers, farmers and fishermen ensured all that was prepared and served was local and fresh.   The beet salad I ordered was scrumptious and perfectly highlighted by a puree with honey and horseradish. She-who-must-be obeyed thoroughly enjoyed the Weathervane scallops that were lightly smoked and served chilled in mushroom consume.   One of the nibbles was a serving of fresh bay shrimp.   My Petrale sole was delicious and featured a very light broth the ingredients to which I'm still attempting to guess. My partner thought the Beachcomber Stew divine.   All was slurped down with wonderful wine: Sauvignon Blanc for my partner, a crisp Rose for yours truly.   I finished with the Swedish Cream dessert topped with a lovely marionberry compote.   Anna's Table was a wonderful surprise, a fair few cuts above all other eateries we tried in Cannon Beach and is highly recommended by this couple. read more

Make your reservations ahead of time. When we made the reservations, I mentioned that my husband does not like fruit or citrus and they cheerfully accommodated without blinking an eye. The price is the same higher end you expect for the area but the food is very good. I had the salmon and it was perfect. The homemade bread in olive oil was addictive and the waiter was cheerfully feeding me into a carb oblivion. The service is warm and efficient. It was a wonderful date night. As with most of Cannon beach the parking is a struggle. We walked to all our dinners so I cannot give advice on this TLDR Make your reservations. We were there four days ago and we were seated promptly. We ordered the crab cakes and scallop appetizers. Both were cooked perfectly and very fresh! I got the rib steak and added prawns. The steak was huge and mouth-watering! It is rare that I cannot finish an entree but my son and I (who also ordered the steak) both had leftovers. We split the coconut cake. We should have gotten more than one. It was a top 5 dessert for me and easily the best coconut cake I have ever had in my life. I wish we had the recipe! Came here over the past weekend to celebrate our engagement over a nice meal. While the dinner itself was solid we weren't blown away by the service or the value compared to some other spots in town. We had a reservation and I'll start by saying that the inside of the space is quite nice and modern while still feeling homey. We were quickly taken to our table which was great. The service however wasn't quite what we were hoping for. I'll note that I had mentioned in the reservation that we were coming in to celebrate an engagement, so I thought I'd see a little acknowledgement of it but didn't see or hear anything from anyone on the staff. Additionally, there was an amuse bouche that every table around us received but our server didn't bring to us which was a disappointment. Overall just weren't wowed which I would expect from this caliber of restaurant. The food was good. We had the linguine and the salmon. It just felt maybe a little spendy for the value of what you were getting. Additionally the bread that got brought out was delicious but it was not warm which was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong it was a nice meal but not a place I would rush back to and I was hoping they would have done a little more to celebrate a special evening, especially if the reservation system asks for it. read more

What a great find! Such a lovely restaurant at Cannon Beach. Food was top notch from beginning to end. Started with a nice amuse bouche of chilled baby shrimp with dill and one of the best beet salad's I've ever had. Wonderful roasted beets with a horseradish cheese which I wasn't sure about, but was perfect on the plate. I had the fish stew which had nice big chunks of fish, shrimp and clams. What I loved is also the collar that was served with it too in a great fish stock. They also make a house made focaccia with lovely olive oil which we had to eat every bite of and it was worth it. A recently opened spot in town. Definitely more upscale but service, food, and ambience were impeccable. John, our waiter, was friendly and fun. Their complimentary Foccacia Bread was insanely good. Easily my favorite foccacia. I love how chewy and flavorful it was and that it wasn't too oily like most. Paired with rosemary olive oil, this was addicting and John kept giving us more and more. We went with four small plates to share for dinner. The Octopus is a MUST. I can eat a whole entree of this salad. Generous amount of octopus and so well-cooked. The creamy romesco sauce tied everything together perfectly. The Albacore Tuna was less flavorful, could use more citrus but again the quality and amount of tuna was top notch. Soft and tender. The Crab Cakes were delicious. ALL CRABS. And the Steamer Clams came in a creamy, curry-like broth with lots of herbs. Both delightful but not as mindblowing as the Octopus. Anna's Table was our most favorite meal throughout the entire trip in Oregon...and there were many meals :-) We tried the Beachcomber Stew, Daily Special of smoked pork topped with salmonberries and a decadent sauce, Pacific NW Oysters, Scandinavian Fish Cakes, and Crab Cakes. Everything was carefully prepared and delicious. The Scandinavian Fish Cakes were my least favorite, but the hostess recognized that and quickly rectified the situation, which I really appreciated. For dessert, we tried a dish very similar to Panna Cotta that was phenomenal. Service was great...thank you John Z for the great wine suggestion - Four Winds by Loop De Loop. We liked it so much we actually visited Loop De Loop vineyards...it was stunning! The owner and chef John is such a nice guy. Reservations are highly recommended at least 1-2 weeks in advance. This was our first visit and it won't be our last. Our server John was delightful, extremely well-versed regarding their wine cellar and provided very detailed description of the dishes and their preparation. I had the beet salad OMG the horseradish chèvre was the PERFECT compliment to the beets and classic hazelnuts. For my main course, I enjoyed the generous portion of petrale fillets in a very DELIGHTFUL brothy sauce with quartered pattypan squash. My husband had the weathervane scallop plate in a mushroom broth. He prefers scallops seared, so this wasn't to his liking. No reflection on the dish itself or its preparation; just personal preference. For his main course he chose the OUTSTANDING Beachcomber Stew and savored every morsel. Unfortunately I did not have the experience I hoped to have at Anna's. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner as we've already explored most of the restaurants in Astoria. After looking around I found Anna's and was excited to try someplace new. I really love that this location focuses on locally sourced foods as well as seasonal produce. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, very cozy inside. The chefs table looked like a nice spot. We were greeted warmly upon entry and sat. But once the evening progressed we noticeably did not receive the same service as other patrons seated around/near us. Possibly due to our age or attire - but regardless is not acceptable. We were not explained items that were brought to the table such as their bread, it was simply dropped off. When came time for dessert, we saw those around us getting the coconut cake and decided we wanted it as well as it looked delicious and the portion size was generous. To our surprise we were charged for my partners birthday dessert, and were given slices of cake that were significantly smaller than those around us. The food was okay. My boyfriends steak was very undercooked, he didn't want to send it back as they were closing up and we didn't want to make the kitchen re-fire a steak. My salmon was good. The veggies were a bit undercooked and the carrots were not cleaned. I really enjoyed the octopus starter! All in all I'm glad we came by to experience this location. The food was amazing! I had the seafood stew that was brimming with a variety of seafood in a savory broth. My husband had squash stuffed with quinoa and mushroom. The bread was amazing, the appetizer was chunks of sturgeon in a romesco sauce and we took home some coconut cake. SO FRESH and delicious! Our server was very attentive and thoughtful. We were able to snag day-of reservations and had such an amazing experience. Anna's is a converted house, so it really feels like you're going over to a friend's place to eat - and that friend is an incredible cook. The complimentary sourdough focaccia with rosemary olive oil was mind-blowing (we had two rounds). Next we had the beet salad which was bright, fresh and delicious. For the main, it's Oregon, so you gotta have the salmon. It was perfectly prepared and every bite was better than the last. The seasonal strawberry shortcake was a spot-on grand finale. I love that the ingredients are sourced as close to the restaurant as possible.The waiter was attentive and had a wealth of knowledge about the food and the area. Starters: The beet salad was awesome! I loved it! Crab cakes ok as well! Entree's: I wasn't blown away with the rib eye steak as it was floating in butter & fat. I think it was pan cooked too. It would be nice if the steak had a chance to rest & let some of the fat drip. Butter set aside & allow customer to add it at their digression. As butter was all over the plate & even the vegetables were covered with butter. One needs steam vegetables to remain plain to offset fat taste. Restaurant looks nice/fresh/airy ambiance! Turn off was the constant banging of pans - not sure about the cooking methods but I ran my own restaurant and I don't recall banging pans that much & that loud. In a small intimate setting - one needs to be aware of sounds you project out on the table specially if you want to be close to the customers. With limited places in Cannon Beach & tough market - we were glad to find this place open & was able to book us. Just weird to plan a time when restaurants are either close Tuesday/Wednesday or Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday! Just what came about after COVID as restaurants cannot stay open to offset cost of operation vs foot traffic. Cannon beach was very dead quiet too by 8:30pm. read more

We have been staying in Cannon Beach for our anniversary week in July every year since 1998 & have had many, many great & memorable meals over the years. Our meal at Anna's Table ( our first!) ranks up there with the very best of them. The complimentary foccacia bread with rosemary olive oil was to die for. We knew we were likely in for a treat with the meal starting out like this! And it just got better & better! The Beet Salad, the Scallop Ceviche & the Crab Cakes were absolutely amazing. We shared these 3 small plates & really wish we had gotten our own!! We had planned on ordering the salmon as our main entree, until our wonderful server ( Wendy!!) told us about the special... caught that morning Black Cod!! Black Cod is my favorite fish & it is very hard to find on restaurant menus. The Black Cod was offered as a small/shared plate, so we ordered one each for our entree. ( I was NOT going to share!!) It was mind blowing, truly!!! I wish that meal never ended! The preparation ( with a soy glaze, fermented kimchi, & more) was incredible & the fish was cooked PERFECTLY. It was like butter, melted in our mouths! We finished our meal with the Swedish Cream ( like panna cotta). Turns out the recipe is the same as the owner served back when he owned Kalypso ( long missed restaurant in Cannon Beach!!!) & it was as amazing as we remembered. 3.50 stars. This is the best table you are going to find in Cannon Beach and probably for quite a few miles in any direction. Anna's Table has a fun, modern atmosphere with a few tabletops, a cafe table and a small yet vibrant chef's counter. Food is mostly from the sea and there is a bend towards local products. We ordered crab cakes to start. Precious little binder was used to make these delicious delicacies. The accompanying watercress and radish salad was light and refreshing. This is a good starter plate. Petrale is a nice dish that was heavy on the veggies. It's a good order if you like a light fish as opposed to overpowering flavor. The root veggie curry is plenty colorful and uses large chunks of veggie. I probably enjoyed the coconut cake dessert more than I should. Make sure you don't load up on the very enjoyable foccacia at the beginning of the meal or you might not have room for dessert. Cannon Beach and really the entire Oregon Coast could use a few more places like Anna's Table. I hope it does well! read more

We were at this restaurant recently for dinner. We have dined at other restaurants the owner had in earlier years. We don't see him much but he does come out of the kitchen to greet customers. The entrees are interesting along with salads and desserts. I like the ambiance. The cocktails and wine are great. Service has been good. If you're in Cannon Beach, this restaurant is a must. We had dinner here our second night and we immediately regretted not making reservations here twice. We enjoyed the appetizer special which was the scallop ceviche- so delicious. I also devoured the sourdough focaccia bread with olive oil- it was the best focaccia I've had in a really long time. Our main entrees were the Manila Clam Linguine and the Spring Chinook Salmon. Both were incredibly tasty and not too oily. We cleaned up all of our plates very well. From start to finish, we had a lovely time at Anna's. It has a lovely relaxed yet elegant vibe, with top knotch service. We enjoyed complementary foccacia bread which was delicious, a lovely and inventive beet salad, a light and delicious petrale sole dish, and the best clam linguine I've had in a long long time. But this is what this restaurant is about - simple dishes elevated to a whole new level. And a creative and complimentary wine list only adds to the enjoyment. Wow! What an amazing place for dinner at Cannon Beach area! Complimentary focaccia bread and small bite of smoked salmon salad for starters. My husband and I shared the following; halibut cheeks perfectly cooked with a creamy lemony sauce served with oyster mushroom black cod special - skin was crispy and fish just melts in your mouth and has a nice kick manila clams linguini - perfect al dente, tender clams and flavorful broth. What a treat. We visited this newly opened restaurant in Cannon Beach. We sat at the Chef's Counter. It was an immersive experience, as we spoke with the chefs throughout the meal, and it was fun to chat with them while enjoying the food they made for us. The head chef gave us small bites throughout the meal. Treating us to items not on the menu, including pickled tuna belly, fried whole shrimp, and a few more delicious bites. The service and ambiance in the restaurant were simple, and comforting, it was a very enjoyable experience all around. Highly recommend Annas Table, and very much hope to return in the future. Honestly this meal really disappointed us. The service was great and the ambiance is really nice but the experience as a whole was a let down. The fresh focaccia bread and garden greens were definitely the best things we ate and honestly the only things we really enjoyed. I started with the Weathervane scallops since I absolutely love scallops but I could barely get it down. I really didn't like how it was chilled and it honestly felt just completely raw and made me feel sick to my stomach. My boyfriend got the Petrale entree which didn't hit the spot either. The fish was decent but it just felt off as a whole. I also got the Octopus which I could only take a few bites of. We thought the flavors and textures were all wrong and didn't leave us satisfied in the slightest. I don't remember the last meal that I had where I left and really regretted eating there but unfortunately that's how I felt, especially since it was pretty expensive. I wish we had had a better experience here since I had read so many great reviews and the presentation of each item was beautiful. read more

We were strolling Cannon Beach's Main Street as we walked back to our hotel, when my husband smelled something amazing that he was so determined to find where it was coming from. We walked up the steps to the restaurant and peeked through the glass door to see a modern, simple and cozy inside with chefs prepping for dinner. We were so excited based on the look of the inside and menu that we had to try this place. We were greeted by Jenny who we learned at the end of dinner is Chef John's wife! We instantly felt welcomed, she and our waitress were attentive and made us comfortable the entire time as if we we were guests in their home. Jenny is a lovely person and Chef John is a super talented chef with an awesome palette, extremely passionate about cooking from what I saw and tasted. What was cool was when I saw the chef teaching a young male dishwasher when he asked the Chef a cooking question and Chef John thoroughly answered him, happily teaching the young man wanting to learn. The interior of the restaurant is a modern simple and beautiful Scandinavian design which ties in with the menu and Chef's family background. With a cozy open concept kitchen/restaurant space to interact between chef and guests, creating an intimate and unique dining experience. I learned from our waitress that the inspiration behind the name of Anna's table is a combination of the chef mom and daughters' names. I felt we had the best seats at the high top table looking into the kitchen watching Chef John and his sous chef in action. We love watching their attention to detail, culinary skills, and them tasting everything before the food goes out. Everything we had was wow! Every bite was an mmmm out loud and a nod of goodness. We ordered mostly seafood dishes as the majority of the menu was seafood and inspired by Scandinavian cooking. The dishes celebrated and highlighted the seafood as the main star, and it is supported with delicious sauces, pickles, and veggies all cooked perfectly separately but brought together in an umami bomb filled dish. Salivating as I write this review.... chef's John food made us happy and the taste of the food and the hospitality of the staff is still in our memory. Equal efforts were put into the drinks and desserts. Food: - Complimentary focaccia bread with hints of rosemary and fried shallots/onions on top (yes!) place on top of olive oil is something we had to refrain from eating too much of for risk of getting full. - Pacific north west oysters all unison in size and taste. The cucumber mignonette (so good) and touch of fish roe compliments the fresh oysters. - special of the night was cheek halibut. Seasonal and special to have as it's not common. Chef works with local sourcing for fish and beef. The size of fish cheek to isn't a lot so it's not common to have on a menu, but our dish had plenty so it's definitely a special dish to have that night. Cooked perfectly soft and not over cooked. Could eat spoonfuls of the sauce. - poke. Love the crunch texture of the radish and shrimp chips. Large sufficient chunks of fresh and delicious albacore. - complimentary tasting of the octopus by Jenny. What a treat! Octopus was super tender. Learned it was braised for a long time. Really appreciate the technique. - Chinook salmon. Saw Chef John carefully plate what I counted 8 different baby veggies on the dish, I felt the love being put into the dish even before I tasted it. - coconut cake. It must be good because my husband ate all of it quickly. Lemon mousse was light and strong in lemon flavor. Lucky to have discovered this place on our walk, lucky to get to eat Chef John's food, lucky to eat local fresh seafood throug Chef John's sourcing connection. So cool to learn that John and Jenny used to live in Bend, which is where we live now, and that Chef John was an instructor at the Cascades Culinary Institute (CCI) which we frequent their lunch, dinner, bakery when students are in session.
