Stopped by here after a great day at the beach, place had a great patio area, even though it was hot it was still a nice place to have dinner. Pet friendly as well! Staff are super friendly and on top of everything. Came here for the Calamari and it was cooked perfectly! They had a special of Prime Rib and couldn't decline it. We ordered the crab cocktail at $33 which was served with a stem of parsley and a plastic container of cocktail sauce. Presentation and taste did not match to the price. The crab also was very salty We also ordered the Po Boy with coleslaw. It should have been called a hoagie with coleslaw ... with just 3-4 small fried oysters. No oysters in it at all... all bread. We made our way to one our favorite places to go on the coast. It's been a while. However anytime we have friends headed that way we send them here. When we lived in the Portland area we would make many trips to Cannon Beach and Driftwood was always a must for clam chowder. A few times it was known for us to bring a thermos to fill to go. Wish I could do 3-1/2 stars. But for the service and ambience alone I'll up it to 4. We had a warm greeting when we arrived and were seated quickly. There was a cozy fire outside that almost convinced us to sit outdoors, but since it was cold and drizzly we decided to sit inside instead. The restaurant itself felt warm and inviting. We were seated at a window table, and the interior décor was nicely done with a cozy atmosphere that made it a pleasant place to relax and eat. Our waiter was excellent. He was very helpful when we asked about local activities for the grandsons and stayed on top of drink refills and checking in on our table. Food & Drinks My daughter ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl. She was a bit disappointed with the sourdough bread bowl, which had a strong sour taste that seemed a little off to her. She normally loves sourdough, but this one just didn't quite hit the mark. The chowder itself was decent though. I ordered the tomato soup and a salad. The tomato soup also had a strong flavor. I ended up adding a little cream from what they brought with my coffee, which helped mellow it out, but overall it wasn't the best soup I've had. Grandson #1 had a corn dog and fries and said it was good. Grandson #2 ordered a grilled cheese. Unfortunately, the bottom of it had soaked up pickle juice from the plate, so he only ended up eating about half. Would I Return? Yes, I would return, but I would probably try something different on the menu next time. And if the weather cooperates, that inviting fire outside looks like a great place to sit and enjoy the evening. read more

We loved sitting outside under the heater in February and taking in the coastal breeze. Wr had dinner at Driftwood Restaurant & Lounge out last night in Canon Beach. We liked that they were open late. We out out names down and went on a walk to the beach until our table was ready. We started with drinks, got the Beach bum, and Mango Ginger Spritz. We liked both our drinks. We then got the Dungeness Crab Roll, and Pasta Primavera with Chicken. With the Dungeness crab roll, I updated the side to a bowl of clam chowder. The clam chowder was good. The Dungeness crab roll was great. Seating priority goes to those with reservations. We had fish and chips, which was very good. Service was excellent, and our server maintained eye contact (however brief) when she came through with food, beverages, etc. When it gets very busy, the staff has their hands full -- but they do check on you as time allows. We started by splitting wedge salad which was actually pretty good!! However the vibe did not last... The dunganess crab roll was bland and the fish and chips were not bad but not the best we had in the area. Beer selection was good and we tried two very nice local IPAs. What a super fun night!!!! We had a blast and we completely recommend this place. The service was absolutely fantastic. Laurita is an absolutely incredible waitress. She had a stitches, laughing and she had impeccable timing checking on us. You can tell she really cares about her job and wants her customers to be happy. She made our first night in Cannon Beach so memorable. Rosie... who helps out with the tables... was absolutely adorable as well. She was so attentive her happiness was infectious. The wine was absolutely delicious... We bought a bottle of the Pinot Noir! We loved every drop of it. We really appreciated the late hours and the outdoor ambience was so lovely. I really took in the fact that all the customers on the patio were so polite and even somewhat quiet. Nobody was loud or rambunctious. I would come back here again... My husband's steak was melt in your mouth delicious and was cooked to perfection. Absolutely fabulous! My burger was- waaaa waaaa sad. I think the chef might've talked through cooking it... I asked for on the rare side, and it came out well done, it wasn't juicy or big. I think it might've been a frozen patty. Not sure. The menu looks absolutely delicious. Another great meal at Driftwood yesterday. The weather was gorgeous, and on a whim we drove from Portland to Lincoln City via Cannon Beach. Nick was our server again, and the weather was simply perfect on the patio. My wife had the Mediterranean Sandwich again, and I had the Po'boy, but subbed prawns. Perfect. And the accompanying fries for both of us were crispy and hot. I also had the Pilsner on tap and it was so refreshing. Driftwood is definitely our go to restaurant for lunch. We also tried the chowder, was a little watery but the flavor was good! I ended up getting the cod fish and chips, which were amazing! My boyfriend had the ribeye, with garlic bread and fries, the steak was cooked to perfection! The fries were okay, nothing too special. Our server was friendly and fast, their prices are reasonable. Very 'upscale' restaurant in Cannon Beach. This place gets packed for dinner and would suggest making reservations, even during the week. I happened to call and ask if we needed one and she said they were booked for the evening, but had a cancellation for a spot that started in 30 min, so we got right down there. Very worth it. Drinks were strong and the server was friendly and attentive. Husband had steak, and I had the crab salad. Not sure if the crab salad was worth the $$ price, but it was very good. I ordered the steak and lobster and my husband ordered the fried oysters and a cup of chowder. I tasted his chowder and it was pretty good. My overall take on this place is that it's very basic. My meal was fine, but nothing special. It's in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach with a nice outdoor seating with a fire pit that draws you in. Another frequent must stop on a trip thru CB. It was a Wed night 6pm. Off season and still really busy. We're seated right away at a table near the front door. Didn't bother us. Service was friendly and fast. We had the Halibut with Dill sauce on a bed on onions. It was the BEST. First time trying this entree on their fabulous menu. The sauce was incredible. Fish cooked properly. Had a baked potato that was huge and perfectly cooked. It was a lot to eat so 2 of us split it. Thanks again for another great meal at our favorite dining spot in Cannon Beach. Great service, hands down. Thank you so much Molly for being so gracious. I ordered onion rings, the crab roll, and the mango ginger spritz. My husband ordered the fish and chips. Our server suggested that I subbed my side of fries for the onion rings because my husbands fish and chips would come with a large portion of fries if I really wanted them because the platter of onion rings was a lot. I'm so glad she suggested that because it ended up being perfect!!! The drink was phenomenal, I love that restaurants are now offering non-alcoholic drinks because I've never been partial, and wow. I'll have to try and make it at home. The crab roll was a bit bland so I asked for hot sauce and that helped. Onion rings were so delicious. Fish and chips were delectable. We also got dessert. Right on the main drag of Cannon Beach, Driftwood has an amazing covered patio for those with doggos. We were actually cruising up and down the street seeing if any place had a covered patio (it was raining and didn't want to leave our pup in the car). So it was great to see their lovely patio with heat lamps and a gas fireplace going. We were seated right away and got the fish and chips. Service was amazing amazing! They checked in on us multiple times, gave us plenty of sauce, and filled our drinks regularly. Our pup was happy, we were happy, and I was so delighted with the food and service that I filled out a comment card for them then and there.
