I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that people should know. I've ordered from Anna's Taqueria in Brookline before, so I know what their food is supposed to look like -- which made this even more disappointing. There was barely any actual meat in my bowl, and what was there was mostly large, fatty, gristly pieces that were completely inedible (I have photos/video to show it). There was no real portion of usable meat at all. It wasn't something I could pick around -- the main portion of the meat was just that. I ended up throwing the entire bowl away, and even threw out the burrito I ordered because I didn't feel comfortable eating anything else from there. What made this worse was how it was handled. When I reached out, the manager was unprofessional, dismissive, and showed no concern at all. No accountability, no effort to make it right. Anna's is a burrito institution located in Alston. The food is always fresh and tasty. The service is always friendly and helpful. The ambiance is like a nice cafeteria. But I usually get my burritos to go. The ability to customize your burrito here is great. But the taste and freshness is what makes this a must go to destination.... Yum!! read more

Briokline location 2/25/26 @ 12:00 pm approximately- Had to order online because nobody inside was able to take my orde as manager and staff talked amongst themselves without acknowledging me. i then hsd to order online. Ladies and manager then had online order printed and on order board above prep statuon ready to prepare but took everyone coming in line before affending to me. Didn't apologize or acknowledge my complaint or their mistake. Very rufe manager and apathetic staff. Used to enjoy it here but service has gone way downhill. . For years Anna's was excellent. It stood out in Boston's food landscape where there weren't a ton of good Mexican food options. Loved the meats, grilled veggies, chewy tortillas. Burritos were delicious and epically large! In 2025 - Anna's is not what it was and it's not good. Expansion of the franchise has led to menu changes and inconsistent quality. Feels homemade but not special. The service wasn't ideal, my partner and I did separate orders and for some reason they decided to do a bunch of online orders between us. The rice was a bit overcooked and it just didn't feel as superb as a simple steak burrito should taste. How can you not love this place? The burritos are fantastic. Their verde hot sauce is delicious. Their horchata is silky and refreshing. I liked the old location that closed in Brookline but Harvard Street is good. We love it and always get one to bring home. It's perfect reheated the next day. read more

Last night, we brought in some al pastor tacos plus sliced avocado for about $18 for 4... We enjoyed them immensely, and found them to actually be more hearty than the ones we previously got while living near the Porter Square location in Cambridge. The tacos were well stuffed with plenty of perfectly cooked pork and all the fixings, and each bite was bursting with flavor. We ended up making a plate of chips with melted cheese and jalapeno peppers, along with a few meat and cheese papusa (a thick Salvadorian corn cake) that we purchased from Costco and pan fried at home, and could not even eat my second taco because they were definitely larger than we expected. Next time, if we do the same kind of dinner, I know I won't be ordering two tacos and throwing out one of them... It really hurt to do so! Recently went for the first time in a decade and the Al pastor super quesadilla was as phenomenal as it was in memory. Can't be beat.

I love me some Chipotle, but I have to hand it to Anna's Taqueria, especially this location, for being the very best Mexican place with multiple locations in the area. The burritos, tacos, and quesadillas always taste super fresh and flavorful, especially the juicy steak, with good portions as well. I believe they use pretty organic ingredients all around. It's a good place to eat at or get take out, as you just pick out what you want and pay there at the counter. Highly recommended! read more

Although the temperature averages for Boston in late June suggest agreeably balmy summer weather--highs in the low 80s--we were reminded during our trip that "averages" are just that. We arrived in town on a Friday, when the mercury topped out at 70. When we visited Anna's on Monday a few evenings later, the temperature had skyrocketed to 96 or 97 during the day. (So yeah, the average for our three-or-four-day stay ended up being in the low 80s, but how meaningless that turned out to be.) This Anna's location apparently doubles as a thermal-energy-trapping hothouse, because the overall heat index inside this business on this evening had to have been in the 90s, even at 9pm. It was sweaty and stifling inside. (Just punishing--holy hell.) We found out that Anna's actually has an AC unit, because for one brief moment in the food line we could detect an extraordinarily narrow column of slightly cooler air weakly slicing through from above before it dissipated quickly in the oppressive mugginess. And damn, was that line slow. Also: I notice that Anna's social-media sites say that this local Mexican mini-chain recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in the Boston area. This location, which is rough around the edges to say the least, feels at least that old. But that chile verde burrito, once procured, made all of this discomfort worthwhile, because it was great (and very reasonably priced in Boston's expensive dining market): Plentiful, bold, tender pork, additional fillings (mainly rice and beans) that had home-cooking comfort-food flavor, and that chile verde had enough blistering firepower to thoroughly light up that heinie. The spiciest item I'd eaten in some time--and I like the spicy heat. Anyway, great eating. But don't ask for much else! read more

What happened to you guys? Anna's was my favorite place​ in the whole city of Boston to go out and eat. Being in the restaurant business myself I know it's hard to please everybody. However, the past visits to Anna's have been less than satisfying to the point that I actually came to the conclusion as to why I put myself through the disappointment even though there is always a glimmer of h​ope you would come through the way you used to. I'm sorry Anna"s there's a lot of competition out there in terms of taquerías when you were the pioneers back in the early 90's. Time to move on. read more

Everytime we come to the Boston area we have to come here and get burritos! My wife has been coming here since she was in high school and while some of the love is nostalgia, mainly the food is really good. I personally get the quesadilla because its a little crispy but honestly the burrito is very similar and a great option as well. Their chicken is excellently seasoned, but the carnitas are truly a thing of beauty. I can't get enough of them! Their salsas are good and honestly we haven't ever had a bad experience here. Being always less than a 10 minute walk away from El Pelon during my BC undergrad years, I have always had a bias for it to the point that I did not want to try other similar establishments. However, after having Anna's Taqueria for the first time, I was immediately sold and am now making it my go-to spot for when I am craving some good old Mexican food (sorry el pelon)!!  In fact, I liked it so much, my friend and I came back AGAIN after just 2 days to have another one lol Anna's Taqueria's quesadillas are simply an invention of genius. They are more like burritos, except that the wrap has been grilled so that your fillings are encased in a crunchy and toasty outside. It's amazing how something as simple as that can really elevate the meal! My only feedback is that I wish they had more vegetable options to put inside your burrito/quesadilla (ie corn, peppers, etc) just to balance out the heaviness of the meal (& to make myself feel slightly better for stuffing myself with so much food lol). But all in all, to be full with good food for such a reasonable price--there is nothing more I need in life! I will definitely be back. read more

Beware: Don't order online gift cards from Anna's Taqueria! I ordered a gift card for my kids (6 and 9) as a gift. I live in Florida, and they're in Boston and like Anna's. A few days after ordering it, I got an email saying they'd issue the card "when the cards arrived." Checked w my kids a couple of weeks later with the same person, no reply. Followed up with the company a further five times. They never sent the card...or even replied. They took the money and didn't send it. It was for children. I posted a one star review on Google about this, and that finally got them to care. They replied saying to contact them through the website I tried doing that. Their submission form is broken. Anna's, if you're finally interested in filling this purchase or giving me my money back that's the right and honest thing to do. I have all of the emails saved so you can see the name of the person I corresponded with that then ceased communications. Can't believe I have to say "thanks" after all this, but thanks. read more

The uber eats option for a fountain drink doesn't allow you to pick what fountain drink you want, so you have to add it to your cart and call. Funny thing is I called and said "I have an uber eats order and I need to pick my fountain drink, there wasn't an option", I had to speak to three people before I could get someone who could finally comprehend what I was asking for. Pretty pathetic, and I'm supposed to trust these people to serve me food in a safe and satisfactory manner. Also pretty pathetic that they don't have queso. The Birria Tacos are amazing!!! It was worth the drive from Lowell into Brookline. The staff are very welcoming and offer great service to first time customers. I think this is my go to spot when I'm thinking of tacos when in Boston. The only issue I saw was the language barrier of the Spanish speaking staff. I had to use my broken Spanish to make the ordering easier, but it was fun. Gives me a place to practice my Spanish lol. read more

*Order from Ubereats* I have ordered from here a couple of times, but have never been in the actually restaurant , so this is purely a food review. Chicken Quesadilla The chicken is pretty tender, which is always hit or miss at any fast food type place. It could have used a bit more seasoning, but the other stuff in the burrito made up for it. I would give it a solid 3/5. There was nothing wrong with it per say, it just was a bit bland. Chicken Burrito The burrito and the quesadilla didn't taste different to me (not that they are really supposed to) but I think the burrito is a better bang for your buck (more filling). Again, there could have been a bit more seasoning on the chicken. Also the rice was very bland; it didn't taste bad, but it didn't have much flavor. Still 3/5 I'd say. Horchata I think I order from here just because I want an excuse to get this drinks. It's REALLY good. I don't have much to compare it to because this is the only place I've had a horchata (even though I know its a popular Mexican drink) but it is so good. 5/5! Lemonade: Now I have had lemonade before, and I'm not going to get carried away and say this is the best lemonade I've had, but its very good. You know the fresh squeeze lemonade you get at a carnival...yea, THAT type of lemonade is what this is. Just very yummy, right ration to sour and sweet. 5/5 all day.
