As for how things worked you order at the counter, it's practically cafeteria style, they put your main on a cheap paper plate, you move your tray, your sides go in paper baskets, you slide the tray to the checkout counter, are given a cup for a drink then serve your drink yourself, seat yourself, and even clear off your table yourself, throwing your trash away, putting your tray up, and putting your plastic drink cup in a bussing tub. Who deserves the tip in that instance and is any of the staff getting server pay? So that is part of the negative and, like I said, first time ever in my life i felt no tip was earned or given at a tipping optional establishment. The atmosphere was ok. Open concept, several different table options, and somewhat quiet due in part to the lack of patrons. There is music softly playing. The meat mains were quite good which is why this is a three star and not a two star. The meat is well cooked, falls apart well, and is well seasoned. For sides we got the broccoli and cheese, mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. I would give the sides a fair rating. The beans were way way too sweet for my taste and were quite runny. You're better off with a spoon than a fork. The potato salad was the best of all the sides, the mac and cheese was dry, and the broccoli and cheese was passable. Not all bad by any means but it's not the first place I'll be thinking about when I think I'm in the mood for a BBQ meal. It's really too bad about the location. I think that is probably 75% of their problem. As I hear it they are not allowed to advertise on Manchester Rd because they are technically not located there. You get a bad impression of the place when you drive by which is a real shame. I think this has potential to be a relatively good place for people to choose to go eat at. Would I go back? Probably not. The cafeteria style atmosphere just starts everything off to a bad start and I got really irritated when I saw the tipping option at check out. At least some McDonald's locations actually bring the food to your table which is one step Smokee Mo's doesn't even have. $56 for pork steak, half a rack of ribs, four sides, and two drinks. Would I recommend it? I'd say give it a go. This was not my type of place but it might be right up your alley, who knows. Good luck to them, I hope you can survive with the hand that was dealt to you.

The Good: The Brisket burnt ends were very good with good flavor. The service was very good and the food was delivered very quickly. But that's the extent of the good.... The Bad: The "Pork Steak Burger" was a major disappointment. It was served with nothing on the bun. No Onion...No Pickle...No lettuce...Nothing. Dry ground meat on a cheap hamburger bun. The burger did not have the flavor or moistness of a pork steak. It is pork run through a meat grinder with no seasoning added. VERY Bland...and at $7 was overpriced. I was amazed that there were NO Pork Steaks on the menu...! That is a fatal flaw that will prevent us from ever returning. The slaw was flavorless with too much vinegar and large chunks of cabbage that should have been ground or cut into smaller pieces. It was closer to a cabbage salad with vinegar dressing than traditional "slaw". My wife could not eat more than 1/4th of her serving due to the taste. The sides were substantially more expensive than the local BBQ competition. Standard sides like potato salad/beans/ slaw were all $3 for an average serving. Sides at competitive BBQ in the area are $1.89-$1.99 for better tasting food. A slab of ribs with (2) sides was $24. A slab with (3) sides at the competition is $2 cheaper. The only water they offer is bottled water for $1 a bottle. The BBQ sauce is served in bottles that have no labels. You have no idea what you are getting. They need to install a fly trap. We had pesky fly's competing with us for our meal throughout dinner. If you want excellent BBQ...Including Pork Steaks...Caledonia BBQ, Bailey Jo's in Ironton and Dexter BBQ are ALL better BBQ and more reasonably priced. When the new Sugar Fire BBQ opens in Farmington I will be surprised if Big Dick's in Farmington is still open a year from now.

The twists are good but I wish they were a little crisper on the outside and saltier. I should have specified that I like a salty pretzel but the twists have great flavor.
