I used to love Sugarfire, but after my last visit I don't think I'll be back. It's probably been 4+…read moreyears since my last visit since we moved out of state. We ordered to go. In the past I would eat their brisket with no sauce and it was always sliced very well and tender, so I ordered an 8oz brisket plate with 2 sides. What I received were 4 pretty thick (1/2") pieces of brisket. In the past if I ordered the 8oz I would get about 6 normal sliced pieces. The brisket was pretty dry this time with not much fat. I added some sauce and it was ok, but not what I was expecting at all and I ended up just tossing the last slice. The 2 sides I got were baked beans (very good) and mac & cheese (also good) but the size was pretty small.

The macaroni and cheese was extremely creamy and the green bean with the chunks of ham was awesome. I got the Philly cheese brisket, which was unbelievable. The brisket was flavorful the cheese sauce. Excellent with lots of green pepper and onion, grilled and caramelized on a delicious hoagie. I decided my sandwich with the kettle chips, which were OK. The service is ordered at the counter which was nice. The restaurant is smokehouse themed, which is cute all in all. It was a very good meal.

This restaurant is easy to get too, has adequate parking and the restaurant itself is casual and inviting. The staff welcomed us and were very friendly and attentive. Our young waiter was especially helpful with the menu. The food came quickly and was good. Unfortunately, not great. My wife and I both got the trio of meats, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. All were cooked well but under smoked for my liking. The sides we tried were all fresh but again, just good not great. We will try Gastropit again but honestly have had better tasting barbecue at nearby competitors. I know it is relatively new to the scene so overall, it was a good experience!

Cocktails for the night featured a classic old fashion, not the one on the menu. Really well executed with Knob Creek rye. Also had a special Paloma which was tasty and perfect for a summer evening. Dinner included: - Cuban with fries. The missed orders this and she called it one of the best in town. 4.25 - small barbecue salad with pulled pork. This dish, priced at something like $8, is a nice "lightish" meal. Ordered fries because I can't help myself. Salad and fries: 4.25 each.
