Seven years since my initial review, Annie's is still great, hasn't missed a beat. Today was my first visit to a "non-essential" business since they re-opened after the forced shutdown due to the apocalypse. I needed to shop for fun items (other than canned soup & toilet paper, ugh) more than I knew! The boutique has some of the best creative window displays around. I currently do most of my grocery shopping at Lunada Market & Deli & cannot pass Annie's (in the same little Lunada Bay plaza) without being lured inside by cool stuff in the window. Remember Gus Vintage that was in Redondo's Riviera Village? Well, today I found pillows with the Gus label. Yay! I bought two. Handmade locally (in the USA of course), each one is different & custom is available. Inside the pillows is duck down (so soft!) & zippered covers are washable. On my drive home I had a brilliant idea for a couple of custom pillows to give as gifts so I gotta go back to Annie's (no problem hehe & I should probably just buy the house for sale across the street from the plaza). And I got a purple RAT Beach tee that matches my shoes from Village Runner in Riviera Village. I'm eyeing Annie's RAT Beach hoodies also cuz RAT Beach is my fave place in South Bay. Stay safer by shopping small You'll have a lot more fun than at a mall And you won't need a carload of Ly-sol So don't be AWOL That is all

Annie's Boutique is a fantastic hotspot for something for everybody - jewelry, clothing, cozy sweatshirts, gifts and local art. Annie's has great prices and a friendly staff. While you're in the area stop by, support local businesses like Annie's, grab a bite on the same street and take a drive along the Palos Verdes coast line

I picked up a few Rat Beach T's. They are a hit with my friends. Annie is great and always complimentary to all that come in.

    Two adorable, stylish tops!!!! Lovin'!

Great clothes. If you're looking for for linen this is the place to go. Sales lady (perhaps owner) was very helpful.

Because when my soon-to-be daughter-in-law was visiting from SF, she was exploring the Village one day by herself & came back with a gorgeous grey knit wrap. From Alandrea, of course. Expensive? Nope, she said....on sale! So yeah, their sales are good. Regular prices are not cheap, but their styles seem to be worth it. And they carry Frye boots. And nice jeans & accessories. The store is bright & welcoming. Shopping at local small businesses beats the heck out of going to huge malls with crowded parking lots, is how I feel.

Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. The employees closely followed us throughout the store and made us feel as though we were being watched because they assumed we might steal something. The treatment we received felt like racial profiling, and it was both embarrassing and hurtful. Rather than feeling like valued customers, we felt judged and singled out. Despite the uncomfortable atmosphere, I still made a purchase and bought a pair of earrings. However, that purchase was only a fraction of what I intended to spend. I came into the store fully prepared to buy multiple items and would have gladly spent considerably more. Instead, the employees' behavior completely discouraged me from continuing to shop. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that the store lost out on a much larger sale because of the way my daughters and I were treated. Customers should feel welcomed, appreciated, and respected--not scrutinized and judged. Had we been treated with kindness and professionalism, I likely would have purchased several additional items and returned in the future. I also noticed several other potential customers walk into the store and quickly leave without making a purchase. Customer service plays a huge role in whether people choose to shop and spend money, and unfortunately, that was severely lacking during my visit. I have never felt so profiled while shopping before, and it was a deeply upsetting experience. No customer should be made to feel uncomfortable because of their appearance, race, or background. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides better training to ensure that all customers are treated with respect, dignity, and professionalism. Sadly, what should have been an enjoyable shopping experience turned into one that left me feeling unwelcome, disappointed, and unlikely to return

I order three items online, and I planned on returning two of them that did not fit to the store (instead of just mailing them back), because I figured it would force me to go there because I wanted to do some shopping for spring clothes. Well, life got crazy with youngest getting ready to graduate, and I missed the return policy by TWO DAYS. When I went to store (way out of my way), they said they couldn't help as it was beyond their authorization abilities, but I should contact customer service and they should be able to help me. The friendly gentleman I spoke to said he would have to check with another associate and even commented on this being my first occurrence of asking for such an exception. THEN, he came back and said that associate said they couldn't do anything to help me.....nothing. So, now I have two items valued at $160 that I cannot wear, and I guess I will just donate them to a worthy cause. Someone is going to make out well with my donation, so I guess that is some consolation for me, but White House lost a loyal customer. And for the record, it really takes A LOT to make me write a bad review. More than being made, I'm just really sad to have to end this relationship. Bummer. FYI, this wall all an online sale, so this does not pertain to any particular location.

Once inside, what you will find is all of the things that you would expect from a thrift store; namely: clothing, household items, furniture, art, books, records, and a little bit of everything else. One of the great things about this thrift shop is that they often have sales. Though you never really know when this is going to take place, but walking in there, they let you know what the sale is going be. So, From this, a lot of times you can get clothing and other items really-really cheap. The shop is very well laid out. It's a large open space. Within it, the shop has rows and rows of clothing and other things, like the household items are near the back. Whereas, items such as books, records, and household items are on shelves along the walls. It's a very clean, open, and airy place to shop. They have a small parking lot in front. So, if there's a parking space available, you can grab it there. If not, you can always get a space along Hawthorne Boulevard. Overall, this is a fun place to shop. Just like all thrift stores, you never know what you're going to find.

I didn't even check-in because I didn't want anyone to know. However, upon thinking it over, I don't give a rat's ass. I earned all my wrinkles from a lifetime of hard partying, dammit, & it was great. And I ain't done yet. Anyway, Chico's was the first store I passed when leaving the parking structure. Yesterday, Monday, it was packed with ladies. So I went in to see what was going on. A sale. Big sale. 30% off the stuff already reduced for end-of-season. I was immediately greeted by Daisy, to whom I confessed I'd never before stepped into any Chico's. She explained their method of sizes: 0, 1, 1.5, 2, etc. 1.5 is equivalent to 10-12, I think, can't remember. 1 is 8-10 (?). Turns out I'm a size 1, according to Chico's. I've never been a size one in my life, so that made my day. I found a pair of shorts *cough*size ONE*cough* hugely on sale, that fit perfectly. I tried on a couple other things in my own personalized dressing room. Yeah, they wrote "Joan" on a little chalkboard on my dressing room door. Wow. So now I was a size 1 & I had my own fitting room. Life is good. Service was GREAT. Nobody was pushy but definitely attentive. Friendly & professional. My super-cheap shorts were carefully wrapped in tissue & placed in a Chico's handle-bag adorned with a red ribbon. Did I mention I got into a conversation about art with a couple of the sales associates? Dang it, I had fun. Life is fun when you're a size ONE, bitches.

She made me feel very uncomfortable and I will be contacting Chicos headquarters. Here is what I witnessed: These two middle eastern women were shopping (I think they were speaking Farsi/Persian) and one was trying on clothes in the changing room. As she was trying on each article of clothing, she was placing them over the top of the changing room door. (Keep in mind, these changing rooms are extremely small). The manager frantically approached this customer and said "You can't just throw the clothes over the door! They'll get dusty!" Taken aback, the customer replied: "The store gets cleaned, doesn't it?" And the manager said "Not up there!!!" She then turned around and muttered to herself (very loudly): "NO ONE ELSE DOES THESE TYPES OF THINGS. NO ONE." I could see the two women were very uncomfortable after being scolded by the manager about this and did not linger in the store much longer. They did not they buy any of the many items they had tried on. I don't blame them one bit, because I left quickly after too. My housekeeper always cleans the top of my doors at my house. Does Chicos not have the same standards of cleanliness? The manager basically announced to the whole store that they do not. To embarrass and scold a customer for something so unimportant is NOT OK. If anything, the manager should be contacting the store's CLEANING TEAM and letting them know that the changing rooms are dusty and dirty. Gross! I know this manager is capable of being polite, as another customer came in and she greeted them VERY warmly, as though they were friends. She gave these other two middle eastern woman the cold shoulder, however, and did not attempt to help them in any customer-friendly way. I was extremely disturbed to witness this. I wish I had gone back there and told that saleswoman what a rude person she is. This incident felt xenophobic to me, as they were speaking a foreign language, and this woman never appeared friendly to them at any point during their visit. Very "mean girl" energy. I will be contacting Chicos headquarters about this and reporting this incident. I was bystander, but it made me feel incredibly icky. I regret not comforting those women. I will also never be shopping at this particular Chicos again.
